Happy Sunday -

I'm working on websites...but only for a couple more hours...then it's FOOTBALL time! Plus, I want to get in a workout on the Wii Fit before the game. My eating has not been good over the holiday. But I'm getting back on track tomorrow. I'm going to the store later to make sure I have healthy choices at home and to take to work with me.

Ceejay - So glad you had a nice Christmas with your aunt and uncle! That is impressive that he can do the stairs. It will take him awhile yet to get his energy back...his body is working hard to heal. I hope he continues to improve with the PT/rehab. Those are great goals! I do want to lose weight, like around 40lbs. But I also want to lower my bad cholesterol and improve my good cholesterol. And get off of my BP medication!

Mel - I'm so glad you and Shad set the world to rights, and that you're feeling much better for it. I love the classic Christmas movies as well. I think we should JIGGLE and JETTISON our junk in January to give us a fresh new start with the new year.

Annie - Sending you love, hugs and angels. You're in my thoughts and prayers, girlfriend. And we're all here for you. I've heard you're going to be getting some snow. Be safe and warm.

Laura - I see that Illinois is getting a lot of snow. I hope you and BF are doing okay. Be careful shoveling. Stay inside and warm if you can.

Happy - I'm not sure when you said you were going to be heading home, but I hope you can wait for better weather than the big blob of snow covering Illinois today. Drive safely.

Love and hugs to all,

Morning all,

Another quick note since I am about to race round to the DS's place and do some painting before the humidity climbs to ridiculous hights - like about 75% again. I'll redo the two bedrooms which came out an acid green and bright yellow instead of the cream that displays on the living room walls. Amazing how the paint can reflect different colours due to the ambient light from the windows hey?? Then I need to come back and prepare some clothes for taking back with me and the other junk I will need. Hairdresser at 12.00 and I want to look for some talking books to 'read' on the drive down.
DS2 raced out of here around 3.00pm yesterday saying he was going to the movies. Must have been a long movie. He isn't back yet (7.00am)

Mel - I don't think we were sadistic yesterday. Beating up workers with a baseball bat or riding crop is necessary, sometimes you have to punch the information in more than once. Anyway, the world is tilting at a better angle this morning thanks to our chat this morning and as always, laughter is definitely the best medicine. Should be more of it.

Annie - how's it going with you, apart from work, work, work and hospital visiting.

Michelle - haven't tried the wii yet. I did unpack it last night but will need to read the instructions more before I start using it. And I can't take it with me because wee boy won't let the modem thingy go with me. He want's to play games. Thanks for the info received this morning. Don't work too hard.

And with that I am gone . Breakfast and painting. Back in a couple of hours to ensure you haven't caused mayhem and destruction along the way.

I might look into the Wii on my day off this week end. I played tennis when I was younger. Are they hard to hook up?

Quick post to say hello to everyone. I still need to catch up on all your posts.

I'm relaxing and trying to wind down after having my family over for our Christmas dinner. It was nice, but after having two entertaining events this month, I can say it's not my thing. As soon as I commit to hosting something, it's like a weight on my back. I can't wait for it to be over, I stress over what to serve, how much cleaning needs to be done, etc. Today went fine, but was tiring too. I think I need to entertain more so that I get better at it, LOL. So maybe in 2010 I'll invite friends over for small dinner parties, game nights, etc.

I have to work tomorrow, and I'm glad the boss will be out, but it'll be good to finally be back to a routine...until New Year's Eve and a 3-day weekend , LOL.

Okay, signing off for now.

Hi there ladies,

Back safe and sound. We left around midnight Saturday night and got home about 10:30 yesterday morning after a VERY LONG and boring drive. It gets worse each year. We were both discombooberated. DH pulled over twice for a short nap as he was really tired. I kept nodding off in the car. It seemed like we would never get home. Yesterday was pretty shot just getting back in the groove.

Quick hello from me now. I am off to get a boob squeeze this morning. Will catch up with you all later today.

Morning chicks -

I did NOT want to get up early and go to work this cold, dark morning, but I did. Luckily, I've got 4 days off for New Year's weekend as well! Yay!

Shad - That's a long drive you have...drive safely and watch out for idiots on the road. That's really weird how a single paint color can take on so many different shades, but I guess it makes sense. How was the hairdresser appt? Did you get a new do? Did DS2's movie ever finish? Bummer that you can't take the Wii with you, but I do understand DS2's point...the games are really fun.

Ceejay - DH hooked up the Wii, but it didn't look that difficult to hook up. I wish the games were cheaper. After you get the Wii ($199), the Wii Fit Plus is another ($99). And on my wish list to eventually get is Jenny McCarthy's Your Shape. It's about $65 and I don't think you need the Wii board for that. My only complaint about the Wii Fit board is that you aren't supposed to wear shoes while working out. So what I do, is when I do the running workouts (which don't use the board), I wear athletic shoes...and when I do the other games like Step or Kung Fu or Boxing, I take my shoes off.

Laura - Glad you had a nice time with your family. I'm the same way about entertaining. I stress out way too much - the house needs to be perfect; the food needs to be perfect, etc. Entertaining more is one way to improve I guess. I MUCH prefer to entertain in the summer and do cookouts. I did offer to have Christmas for DH's aunt, uncle and all the cousins (about 20-25 people) at our house next year since our house can more easily hold that many. We'll see if it actually happens. Since we live out in the country, I have my doubts about how many will want to drive the 30 minutes to our house.

Annie - I hope you're doing well. My thoughts and prayers are with you, my dear friend.

Mel - Hope you have a nice relaxing day today. How long until the kids go back?

Happy - I hope you are having/had a nice time with your family and friends up north....and have safe travels home (whenever you head home).

Love and hugs to all,

Happy - You are today's sneaker inner!! I'm SOOOO glad you made it home safe and sound. I was worried with all the snow IL was having yesterday. I don't know how you and DH drive through the night, but I'm glad it was a safe, if boring, drive. Good luck with today's boob squeeze.

Mel - I'm very glad that you played "sick"...you've had too much stress lately...so a bit of rest and relaxation and silence is a good thing. Between watching football and playing Wii, I definitely had some play time amid all the work. Sounds like you have a great goal for 2010.

Here is to a glorious 2010 to All....back to work at both jobs today. Got lots on my plate here at Humana from being out last week.

I am thinking I am at peace about mom, and bless you all for your support and comfort. I made it through visiting yesterday without crying and that was with my dad sitting on the side mom couldn't see him with tears in his eyes. (I just didn't look at him much). I asked mom if she was afraid to die, as she knows what is going on. She said no. I asked if she was sad, she said yes. That broke my heart, but stayed strong. I took her some ham and fried rice. She ate maybe 3 oz of it. Better than nothing but not enough.

CVS has been a mad house. All CHristmas junk on sale for 50% off. Like who NEEDS Christmas M&Ms? Even through our snow storm yesterday people risked their lives to come to CVS. What a bunch of idiots.

Streets were pretty clear this morning as if finally quit snowing so the plows did a great job. Amen.

No personals today cause I am so far behind in work, posting and life-really.

Love and Hugs to all and thank you for your terrific support. You all mean so much to me.

Annie - I've been thinking about you a lot. You are going through so much, and I know how hard it is. It's good that you are at peace. I remember when I got to that place when my mom and dad were in hospice, and it was apparent that they only had a short time left. Don't be surprised if your tears/grief comes in waves. I'm glad to hear that momma is not afraid to die, that's good. And it's natural she's sad because she will be leaving those she loves. Death is always harder on those left behind...and it's my belief that sometimes people hang on because they want to make sure their loved ones are okay. This has to be so hard on your dad...it's good you're there to help him through it. Good to hear that she's still eating...even if it is a little bit. 3 oz was a lot compared to what my dad ate during his last month or so. No doubt it's because you're such a wonderful cook. Mmmmm, ham and fried rice sounds sooo yummy! What a relief that your streets were clear this morning. We got more rain than snow over Christmas weekend...just a couple inches of white, fluffy, powdery snow....not the deluge that MN, IL, Indiana, the Dakotas and the plains states got. I'm sending you lots of love, hugs, angels and prayers, my dear friend.

Hello all! I'm dragging my butt today. I stayed up too late winding down from yesterday's gathering w/ my side of the family. It was good seeing my family, but I'm happy that all the hoopla is now over. It's quiet in the office today, and it'll be a short week. The powers that be changed our Christmas Eve office closing time from 3 pm to noon, and I'm sort of hoping they will do that on NYE because I'm working that day and it would be nice to get off work even earlier. As it is, they've announced that from now to the end of March will be jeans days, so that's nice. Although I sort of wish it was "jeans and sneakers" days instead. Or slippers and pj's, LOL.

Annie –I'm glad you enjoyed Christmas Eve w/ your family. I'm so sad to hear about your mother's prognosis. I hope you can spend a lot of time w/ her. I'm glad she's not afraid.

Michelle – Sounds like you had a happy holiday, and were also quite productive in the money-earning aspect too! Good for you! The penguin decoration is very cute – you should put it up now and get some enjoyment out of it this season. Or are you all ready to pull all the decorations down now? Bf and I'll keep ours up for another couple weeks or so. Some people have such beautifully decorated homes, and it made bf and I realize that we have a haphazard collection of holiday decorations that we spread around without too much thought. We've decided to look at all the stuff we have and weed out the stuff we don't feel strongly about. Bf also wanted to shop for some new stuff after Christmas to take advantage of the post-season bargains, but I'm thinking most of the good stuff would be gone by now.

Shad – Your "lovely warm sunshiney Christmas" sounds heavenly. We had a lot of rain, followed by a lot of snow. Yesterday I had to be satisfied with a brief glimpse of the sun. I think it's time to put a tropical photo on my pc desktop. Hope you got to try out your Wii Fit and enjoyed it! Sorry the paint color didn't work out. Back to the drawing board!

Mel – Thanks so much for posting all the holiday graphics. I just love seeing those. I keep all the Christmas cards we receive and like going through them. Some are so pretty. I do need to go through all of them and maybe just keep some of them to reuse as gift tags or something. Maybe I'll make a cheery piece of holiday art work out of them – some sort of collage thingy I can frame. I'm glad you had some peaceful time during your holiday. My favorite times are relaxing in the glow of the tree and the fireplace w/ bf and doggy.

Ceejay – I'm glad your uncle got a pass for the holiday, and I hope it did more good than harm for his recovery. I'm sorry you had such a horrible drive on Thursday!! Good 2010 goal!! Focusing on the healthy is certainly a wise way to go into the new year. I'm going to continue to focus on weight loss, but my exercise goal is primarily going to be directed at strengthening my pulmonary function.

Happy – Welcome back! Ugh – a 10+ hour drive home, followed by a boob squeeze. At least you'll get it over with.

I like the thread title "jiggle and jettison our junk in January".

Okay, better get this posted and do some work.

Cheers!

Hello to all the chicks

Mel
Don't blame you one bit for taking that me day. I have one schedule for 01-13-10 and I will be taking one per month as long as I have the vacation day's.
I need to get back to the "fly lady" routine.

Laura
It would be nice if your office did close. Unfortunately the plant needs supervision 24/7 Luckily I'm off New Years Eve and New Years day. And I've decided I'm staying home. I had no rest last week end. Your exercise goal is a good one.

Happy
Glad you made it home safe and sound. I hate those kind of medical test. Ugh
Are you still wearing your shoe?

Annie
You are going through a rough time right now. I'm glad that you asked your mom those questions. It's helping you to heal too. You are a good daughter.

Michelle
Thanks for the information about the Wii.

I made myself go to bed at 9.45 p.m. last night and low and behold the door bell rang at 2.30 a.m. I didn't sleep good after that. I'm checking the security camera when I get home. Who would be out in this cold weather at that time of the morning! Makes me think something bad.

Shad
Be safe in your travels also.

Laura - Glad you're enjoying a quiet day in the office. Our office closes at noon on NYE, but I'm taking 1/2 day vacation to get the entire day off. Jeans days for 3 months?? That's awesome!! I love jeans days. Of course, I wish they were jeans, t-shirts and sneakers days. I'm going to be pulling down all the indoor lawn decorations this week and weekend. The outdoor decorations will have to stay up until the ground thaws as the stakes that hold them in place are frozen to the ground. Sometimes they stay up until April! As for post-Christmas bargains, you might still get lucky at some places. We have a lot of Christmas and penguin decorations, and we don't even put it all out every year. We put more out when DH's mom is here for the holidays, less when she's not here (like this year). But since my niece will be here in less than 2 weeks, we're going to take down the tree and put away the indoor Christmas stuff before she gets here. Gotta get the house looking presentable again....at least it's not a disaster like before she was here in November! I'm with you...I just love the peace and quiet of relaxing in front of the tree or the fireplace with DH and the doggies.

Ceejay - I love your idea of taking a me day every month. Do you have all New Years weekend off or just New Years Eve and Day? Either way, I hope you enjoy your days off and spend time relaxing. That's crazy that someone rang your doorbell at 2:30! How rude!! I hope it's nothing really bad.

Mom is being moved to a Rehab/Nursing Home this afternoon. I suspect this will be the last move for her. All these rehab/nursing homes remind me of Golden Girls Sitcom when they used to threaten Sophia with Shady Pines.

It is FRRRReeeeezzzzing outside. Hi today is 22 with windchill of minus something. Burrrrrrrrrrrrr!!! Snow showers predicted off and on all week, but hopefully nothing substantial.

Baby boys swearing in got postponed for 10-15 days due to the govt shutting down over the holidays. I imagine it will be the first part of January sometime. If I am repeating myself, please forgive me.

Ceejay...thank you for telling me I am a good daughter, I question it sometimes. I just know I love my family and would do most anything this side of legal for them. Good God, who in the world rang your doorbell at 2:30 am? I wouldn't answer it for nuttin'.

Chelle...thank you for all of your pep talks about my momma. It certainly helps me get through the tough times. You are a good friend.

Laura...wish we had jeans day till March. We do have jeans and sneakers this week. Really need long johns and wading boots.

Shad...when do you head back to the jobsite? None too soon I am sure!

MEL...thank you for your love, my sista....taking it easy peasy in 2010, my frien-d. How about everyone losing 12 lbs in 2010. That is only one lb a month or maybe two good dumps. lol

Best get back at it. For my boss being in Key West, I sure have a lot to do. Not to mention she has called me already twice, once from the Charlotte airport and once from the Key West airport. I told her it was not much of a vacation if she was going to keep calling me all the time. That is the same as "leave me alone". lol

Have a wonderful evening while I am at CVS with the crazy nuts.

Much love and Many Hugs back at cha.
