Ceejay – My understanding of the zinc lozenges I've been taking is that it keeps a cold from coming, or help it be less severe or shorter in duration. I don't know if it specifically helps the sinuses. I think dietribe is one of the shows I can watch on one of our on-demand cable channels, although I have no idea when it's on or where on the regular cable channels. I need to look at the on-demand channels more often when I find myself flipping channels because they do have some tv shows and movies I can watch any time for free. I like that show Psych. I like lighthearted shows like that, not the grim and gruesome crime shows bf likes to watch.

Michelle – I'm looking forward to time off this long weekend, but as usual, I wish I had more "me time". We have Christmas Eve w/ bf's mother & aunt, then I'm almost sure bf will want to go to the house of a family friend who are all almost like our own family. Nothing planned on Christmas, so far. We have a party to go to on Saturday, and we'll see my family on Sunday – SIL & nephews, and my sister & BIL.

I'm glad you're almost done w/ the eye goop! I bet the headache is due to trying to see w/ that goop in your eyes! Yeh, we're supposed to get the rain/sleet mix too. Messy. Re the Vit. D – I'll have to see how much I get from my usual multivit and my calcium +D supplements. I didn't know about the immunity boost high doses might provide. Do you know if there are zinc tablets that serve the same purpose as the lozenges? I might phone the pharmacist.

I weighed in this morning at 183 and I hope that holds until tomorrow's weigh in. The last few days I've been taking a vile tasting allergy med that my doc had given me a while back to sample in lieu of my usual allergy med – I'm only taking it because I'm out of my usual med and am awaiting the new rx to be filled by my mail order rx company. [As a side rant, let me say that I just learned that the mail order co site is only updated WEEKLY. How lame is that?? I could see online that my rx order was received by them on 12/18, but I can't tell if they shipped the order, and I haven't gotten the usual e-mail saying they shipped it either. So it either hasn't been shipped, or the !@#$% site hasn't been updated yet. Aaargh! ] Anyway, this other med tastes bad, and so along w/ the yucky zinc lozenges, I've had a nasty taste in my mouth that I'm all to happy to get rid of by eating! I need to just chew some gum.

Hellos and Merry Christmas to everyone!!

Cheers!

Laura - Sounds like you have a very nice weekend. I just put the eye goop in so please forgive any weird typos, k? The upside to living far away from most of our family is that we have more me time at the holidays...but the downside is that we miss them a lot, especially at this time of year. So we enjoy the time with DH's aunt, uncle and cousins on Christmas Day instead. You're probably right that the headache is from trying to see with the goop in my eyes. We learned about Vit. D for immune system from DH's cousin's wife who has been a nurse for years, and we confirmed it with our doc. As for zinc....the zinc lozenges are MUCH more effective than swallowing tablets, and you need to suck on the lozenges all the way...don't bite/chew them. Looks like you've lost some more weight. I weighed today and was up...so I'm going to weigh myself tomorrow and hope for the best. That is way stupid that your mail order rx company only updates their site records weekly, especially in this day and age. Get some gum and get chewing, girlfriend! No more eating to get rid of that nasty taste.

I plan to be back tomorrow morning to check in!

Love and hugs,

Michelle - Oh, good to know about the lozenges being better than the tablets - I won't bother w/ the tabs. Yeh, does the mail order rx co use a chisel and stone tablet too? May as well!

I'm just trying to hold steady w/ the weight. Wonder if I can squeeze in a gym workout tomorrow mornig? I feel alright, no more sore throat, no cold... And I think I can stop taking those zinc lozenges now.

Well, the gathering w/ my sister and her hubby, and my SIL and nephews will be Sunday, but it will be at our house. Bf had originally told me we should have them come over to our house so we didn't have to drive out to my sister's (not ridiculously far, but not next door). But by the time I talked to my SIL yesterday afternoon (arrived in town prev. evening), she said my sister had already talked about doing it at her house. But this aft. when I asked my sis what I could bring, she said she'd let me know because she hadn't even thought of the menu yet. So figuring she was pretty busy, I took the opportunity to offer bf & myself as hosts and she accepted because she is hosting her dh's family - 16 people - on Christmas. She seemed glad.

So now I have to figure out a menu. Something easy, something not turkey (not a huge fan) and not ham (we're having ham tomorrow & sis is having it Fri.). Maybe a couple things - pasta (but not lasagna - I've served that to them before), pork roast? I have an easy baked salmon dish that might be nice... I'll let sis and SIL bring some sides. It'll be sort of a smorgasbord, non-traditional meal. This isn't causing me as much anxiety as the dessert party did, but still, we have to get cracking on this! Any ideas you ladies have would be appreciated! There will be a total of 7-8 of us.

Cheers!

T'was the night before Christmas when all through the house,
Not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.

Well everybody except that darned little cat of R's who is determined to drain me of blood today.

Yep, we are on Christmas Eve alert here. I went out earlier to get some fruit and breakfast stuff and bought some flowers for our lunch table tomorrow as well as some nuts and fresh fruit. R is going to bring home some groceries and her friend is apparently bringing the fish and prawns. Whatever I am sure we will have enough to eat and drink. If not enough to eat, then we can just get a bit more fluid in!

So I just wanted to say before I shoot off to do something else:

Merry Christmas everyone.

I'll be back to do personals maybe tomorrow or Boxing Day. Mel I will be ringing you on 27th my time and 26th yours.

Every one must be enjoying their day's off.
I may not be in this week end. My aunt called me tonight and told me that my uncle is improving but that he needed a pint of blood. How can he be improving if he needs a pint of blood? He is getting a pass for Chrsitmas day but has to be back at rehab by 4 p.m. He asked for a pass to go to church on sunday but his son's said no. I'm glad I will not be there on sunday. because of this. His doctor told him that this surgery would take a good three months to heal. He's not patient at all. I feel for them next week. He'll be wanting to go home by then.

Mel
The Diet Tribe is not nearly as intense as the Biggest Loser. They have a trainer for 6 weeks. They live at home and fit their exercise in when they can. To me it's more realistic than the Biggest Loser. The BL is still my favorite.

I'm shutting down the computer as I think I hear rumbles of thunder. I talked with my bff and she said it was thundering there with some impressive lightning strikes. She lives in Jonesboro, AR. Can you believe that we are supose to have snow showers on Friday!!

Mel
I love the picture. The weathermen are predicting a light dusting of snow. But now we are under a flash flood watch. I hate driving in the rain with a purple passion but they want me over there.

I saw on the news where the new health care bill passed last night. I've heard pro's and con's about it so I'm still undecided. It's a wait and see game.

I need to wash a couple of loads of clothes before I leave.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL.

Hi everyone. I woke up early today. Weigh in was 184. Boo on that! I relaxed with my book and tv for a bit. I headed out around 9:30 under the guise of going to the gym, and I did - after I bought gas and stopped at 3 stores for some gift-shopping for bf. I spent 15 min + cool down time on the elliptical at the gym and then headed home for a shower. Sorted laundry and threw in a load. Emptied the dishwasher. While bf shoveled some snow, I found a box for one of his gifts - a casual fedora that he liked at Kohl's. He needs to get back in here and make the green bean dish for lunch at his mom's! Besides, doggy's whining because he wants to be out there w/ bf.

Shad - Hope you had a nice Christmas luncheon and the cat didn't ruin it for you!

Ceejay - You be careful driving! We're getting rain here too, and there are flash flood warnings. No lightning though. Wishing your uncle a speedy recovery!

Mel - Sounds like a nice cozy holiday weekend for you! I'm looking forward to tomorrow - nothing going on. I picked up two Fred Astaire dvds from the library to watch.

Merry Christmas to all the Worldlies!

Hello from cold, snowy, sleety, icy and now rainy Chicago. You can keep the traffic and the cold here. I feel so achy. Having a good time with the family and enjoying the food. We'll be turning around and headed home in 2 days. Cat was not adjusting to the pet hotel at first, thought we'd have to come home early but all is well.

Wishing you all a wonderful Christmas - will talk when we get home.

Rudolph, the red-nosed reindeer
had a very shiny nose.
And if you ever saw him,
you would even say it glows.

All of the other reindeer
used to laugh and call him names.
They never let poor Rudolph
join in any reindeer games.

Then one foggy Christmas Eve
Santa came to say:
"Rudolph with your nose so bright,
won't you guide my sleigh tonight?"

Then all the reindeer loved him
as they shouted out with glee,
Rudolph the red-nosed reindeer,
you'll go down in history!

Merry Christmas to my Wonderful Worldlies!!!

It looks like I have a bit of catching up to do to read about the Christmas Eve fun!

But despite having a lot of website work to get done...I just decided, I'm not spending all Christmas morning on the computer - I can do it tomorrow after I go to WalMart at 6 am to pick up a Christmas inflatable penguin that we found yesterday and are hoping it goes on sale tomorrow.

I'm in such a good mood. I, as always, miss my family in California and wish I were celebrating with them....but I've got my family here...DH and the pups...and we had such a nice Christmas Eve. And today we're going to DH's aunt and uncle's house where all the cousins will be gathering for Christmas!

And I've been watching my favorite Christmas movies (Miracle on 34th Street, White Christmas, and today will be It's a Wonderful Life, and National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation). And then there's football tonight and Sunday.

We're having a rainy Christmas right now, and it's melting some of the snow we had. But it may turn to snow by evening....hopefully not enough to shovel or to make driving dangerous.

Wishing you all a very fun, safe and Merry Christmas! I love you all and am so grateful you are in my life!!

Big Holiday Hugs,
