Yay for Friday!!

Mel - Sorry you were bombarded by the needy yesterday. Maybe you should barricade yourself in your place with your month's worth of food and just rest those eyes for a while!

Michelle - Oh, I hope you don't have to work the whole day because I know you're looking forward to getting your extra long weekend started.

It's quiet here in the office today because the boss is at home. I'm keeping busy though. Looking forward to 3 days off, even if I have to attack the dustbunnies (I realized how bad they are under the sofa while bf and I were looking for his eyeglasses) and scrub the tub and tile.

Stepped on the scale again this morning - no change, lol. What do I expect in a day? Brought a sandwich and cherry tomatoes for lunch, but I've been very hungry this morning and have eaten the following: cereal w/ skim milk, a mug of tea, a small McDonald's fruit and yog. parfait, a granola bar, and an ounce of almonds. I'm afraid I really want to supplement the sandwich w/ something else. I will try for a cup of soup and NOT chips and candy.

Have a great Labor Day weekend everyone!

Hugs,
Michelle and I are travelling in parallel universes today. Is it because of the holiday or the full moon? Or did I just curse myself hoping to ease into a quiet holiday weekend? Very unlikely that I will be getting out early too.

Sending good thoughts to my Worldlie Buds tho

While every one is enjoying the Labor day week end I'll be working but that's okay. I've had three glorius day's off thus far with one more to go I need to do this more often and I will in the near future.

It's to the point of closing my eyes and tossing things now. My spare bedroom is about 3/4 clean. What do you do with electronics that need to be discarded? There is no place to recycle here. I may call the street and sanitation department to see what can be done.

Michelle
Don't stay to long at the office after it closes. Enjoy the week end and happy birthday.

Annie
Do you have to work Labor day?

Mel
They should hire you as office manager. Beware there is a full moon. Glad Jen was there to help you.

Happy
Are you going back to the yurts this week end? Lucky you.

Laura
Enjoy the time alone in the office with out the boss.

No gym tonight but I will be riding the bike. I've noticed that when I walk on the treadmill that the foot I had surgery on years ago will go numb. I know that the podiatrist cut a nerve that was wrapped around the heel spur. Just somoething I have learned to deal with over the years.

Mel!!!!! (scandalised look) Pictures of soft porn on our post?
Sorry to hear about the eyes. Rest up. You don't have to watch Hyacinth to be able to laugh.

Hello to everyone else as well. I don't have much time this morning. DS2 has organised a builder. I want to get some work done around the place but I really only want a part time builder since unless I take out a loan, I won't be able to pay for it all at once. We'll see what he says. Hope he knows how to get permits out of the local council to build things. I don't.

So I had better go and get myself organised. I'll try to be back later. I said that yesterday and didn't get anywhere near the computer.

Today, I ended up leaving work shortly after 12, but I got to work at 5:30, so I still put in almost a full day and accomplished a heckuva lot. After work, I got some stuff done to prepare for the trip. Tomorrow I'm going to try and get to the gym in the morning, and then we're running errands and packing up. We'll probably leave before dawn on Sunday.

Laura - Getting out early before a long weekend is wonderful, isn't it? Enjoy!

Annie - I hope you don't have to work too much at CVS this weekend, so you get to enjoy some of the long weekend.

Mel - You rest up, okay! Sounds like your overdoing it! You rest those eyes now ya' hear!! BTW, thanks for the eye candy!

Happy - So sorry to hear you had a day like mine. I hope you have a relaxing and fun weekend.

Ceejay - Bummer that you have to work on Labor Day weekend, but at least you got 4 days off anyway. Can you donate the electronics to Goodwill? We have hazardous and electronic recycling events a couple times a year...but then you've got to hold on to the junk until those events come 'round. No fun about your foot going numb. Yuck.

Shad - What is the builder for? What projects are you having done? How exciting that you will have a little professional help with your renovations!

Well, off to get some laundry done. I'm going to miss reading and posting. I'll try and check in tomorrow, but no guarantees, and I won't be able to check in while away...so you may not hear from me 'till Thursday. But I'll stay on plan and do LOTS of walking!

Wishing everyone a wonderful Labor Day weekend!

Love and hugs,

Michelle - happy early birthday - safe travels and have a WONDERFUL relaxing weekend!!!!!

Mel - the fact that the guy has 2 earrings just destroys the whole picture. Have a quiet lockdown in your safe place. Nice that you got a little pat on the back with the politician. Now, can they help you with the governmental red tape when they decide to put a halt to your funds? That's the way to really say I love you.

Yikes Shad - still working on the house? Hope you don't have to remortgage. What's left to be done?

Ceejay - enjoy your last day off - hopefully it will be quiet so you can ease back into work gently. I'm with you on remembering that time off is a necessary break that we need. We're going back to the yurts mid October for the autumn colors.

Laura, I'll be chasing the dust bunnies too. I find that as we turn into autumn, I get hungrier. Cereal - even oatmeal now makes me very hungry an hour later. Soup is a good option to go with your sandwich. I eat soup every chance I get - even in the summer although our office has very hot and very cold spots so sometimes soup in the summer is a survival technique But this time of year, it's just going to taste plain old good.

Patty, Ruth. I'm off to bed, hope to get up a bit earlier tomorrow, even tho it's the start of a holiday.

Okay, back again. The builder came and went. We should expect a quote by e-mail within the next couple of days.

Why am I getting a builder in. Well the front verandah of the house needs some repairs. The posts are rotting and the soffit needs replacing and who knows what he will find when he takes that off. I can happily work on the inside as none of the walls in there are bearer walls - ie they do not carry the weight of the house. So I can poke holes in them, shift them, or get rid of them to suit, but the outside walls are structural and I don't actually do structural. If the house falls down when the builder does it, that's okay since he is licensed to kill it off. I am not. I have also had this idea to extend the two front bedrooms out to the edge of the verandah so I asked for advice. He tells me I need an architect/ engineer to tell me whether or not it can be done. So that is a long term pipe dream at the moment. I will call in the architect and get some ideas and no doubt pay for it.
Also the builder is to construct the roof over the patio so we have a structure which will not cause us to run inside if it rains.
DS2 has some work to be done on his investment houses as well. One needs new steps and deck and the other is going to cost somewhat more. It needs some work done and DS2 is considering adding a master bedroom and ensuite to it. Not sure that he is really thinking about the cost of it yet.

Anyway.......
Michelle - have a very happy birthday and enjoy your time off. I loved gem fossicking when I was in Central Queensland - I wouldn't mind doing it all over again but.........

Annie - work well but have some time to yourself too this weekend.

Mel - Rest up those peepers. Did you ever watch that series of 'Allo, 'allo? I still find it hilariously funny whenever I get to watch it. Politically correct it definitely is NOT.

Ceejay - shame we have to go back to work at all really isn't it. I think we all just love our laid back weekends at home - even if we are cleaning the joint.

Okay - DS2 has pinched all the outside chairs and gone off to a bbq. I think I might just have a wine and think about dinner. Since he is not home, I will have fish. I'm going to rub it down with an Greek style rub of garlic, basil, oil, oregano, lemon etc. I'll let you know how it turns out. The basil, oregano will come from the garden as will the green salad. I think I might also try some green beans. So hi ho, it's off to cook I go. Have a great weekend all.

Howdy ladies,

Wonderful Saturday. Time to get busy and have some rest and relaxation too. Love 3 day weekends.

Sounds like everyone has plans too.

Mel did you say you were actually going to the wedding? If so - have fun - do your own brand of dancing!

I need to find something to eat - tummy is rumbling. Will be back tonight. Have fun all!

Popping in to say that I've been good with the exercise routine, a 30 minute bike ride last night before bed and today it was back to the gym, 30 minutes of cardio and 30 minutes on the weight machines. I even completed one of my goals for the eliptical machine, 1/2 mile in ten minutes. This machine is a lot easier on my feet but gives an excellent work out.

Had a nice suprise today. My sister from Texas called this morning and her oldest daughter called me this afternoon.

I don't have a do not disturb sign on the door but I'm going outside to do the windows on the car. I washed it yesterday.

morning all,
Trying to get my mind into gear to get on with the day. I'd better finish this tiling rather than procrastinating. Then it is grout time. Then I can start to think about the next project which is flooring the attic. That will be fun, but when it is done, I can put all the junk up there until I decide what to do with it. While that is going on and I inventory all the stuff that I put up there, I can think about the insurance situation as well I suppose. Always did like killing off two birds at once.

Other than that, not much new here. Another lovely day and it is Fathers day over here. The DS2 is going to ring his father soon. I ought to get lost sometime about then I guess.

Mel - I didn't mind the hunk. Actually great minds think alike. I was in the bookshop the other day when I spied the latest fireman calendar. Nothing in yours to compare to that really. The bloke behind the counter didn't really seem to like me looking at the hunks either. I laughed at that. Maybe I should buy you one for Christmas. That and a set of darts. You could take pot shots at the month of your choice.

Happy - have a good long weekend. All Queensland long weekends are done now. No more till Christmas. If it's long weekends you need, you need to move to Melbourne. They have more public holidays than any other place in the country.

Okay - coffee time then on to tiles. See you later
