Thank you Gen - I was very touched by what you said. Even though we don't all know each other from a bar of soap, we are on this journey together, and seem to get to know quite a bit about each other over the months.

I'm glad to hear you're getting back into it. I think it's really tough to lose weight over a long period of time, and in my experience most of the battle is in our heads. Trying to deal with emotional triggers, and the different situations life throws at us … it aint easy.

Barb I think you're doing really well. I don't think it's worth demonising food, or making it our friend or enemy… at the end of the day it's fuel for our bodies. There's nothing wrong with enjoying treats, drinks, and even eating more than your calorie allowance from time to time. Thin people do it - just a lot less often than we do

Anyway, you can see from my new ticker that I've worked out I will be "only" overweight in 10 pounds time. So my new challenge is to work through those 10 pounds, and to give myself a reward at the end of it. Haven't decided on a reward yet, but I will. I'm hoping to reach that goal by the end of January next year.

Kel - where are you? And is Julia still away?

I know - I wish I could bottle it when I'm cruising and it's all too easy.. what the **** changes to make it all fall apart! ?&*%#

That's awesome that you'll no longer be obese so soon - what a milestone! What reward do you get!?

ani - holy dooly when did you get below 85?? i think i must have missed something - i miss heaps as my computer forgets to tell me when you guys post...... but congrats! and how excitingly close to 82 are you! and then that is so damn close to being 79.9kg omigosh i know i'm getting a bit ahead but i've always been a bit excitable.

i am still here - still shaking..... it's going fine, i dont mind having a shake instead of a meal but i have trouble if i forget my water and start snacking, can you believe there was NO celery at the shop the other day! choc is still my weak point and chips but the main prob is they are in the house, hubby buys them for me as a treat, i am educating him.....

kylie - if you want to email me pm me your email address and i'll email you about splitting up houses and furniture and stuff, if you are still amicable do it NOW before (and this is hard to think about) there is another girl involved, when exes get new partners THAT is when amicable breakups disappear.... my exhusband and i (i was engaged 19, married 20, seperated/divorced 23ish) when we split he paid me out the house BUT none of that was worked out until we were sure each of us would have one of everything ie - he kept the washing machine, bed, rug, coffee table and we out of our joint money bought me a new of each, i took the dryer coz my family had bought it for me like the microwave and i took the couches coz i liked them basically we set eachother up a little then he paid me out of the house and i went overseas and bought a new house - it all works out in the end just make sure to look after yourself but still be nice

vonni - lets talk babies!!! my baby started crawling the last week or so and sitting herself up! it is awesome!!!! how is ebony going? how old is she now? the girls at kidzclub reckon that jemima is getting her back teeth now... ho hum..... eating sucks she sometimes loves food sometimes is over it i think it is all to do with timing........... do you have 'time' to take your baby for a walk around the block?? that would give you vonni time whilst entertaining child and giving you exercise..?

!?

that is awesome question....... i think we get cocky coz we think we know what we are doing and get complacid (i think that is the word)

have you been gaining though??? i didnt think you had except for those weird 4kg you were talking about....... so maybe your body is used to your diet and you need to shake it up again (hehehehe not literally with shakes hehehe) but i think hair does it to shampoo, it gets used to it so every so often for best results you are supposed to change your shampoo.....

i hope that made sense... i was trying to help.....

not like with my new avatar thingy.... heheheheeheh.... this is me and jemima at hungry jacks she has just had her first hungry jacks chippie! and is now after my burger... she did not get it............ it was bad but it was yummo, the sodawater coke was not though!!!

I think I'm definitely back over my last weigh in of 89.9! Have had 2 weeks out of WW weigh in though, so won't know what the damage is until Saturday. If it's as usual, I won't have had any trouble stacking some kilos on heh.

Kylie!!! So good to see you! Although I am sorry life has thrown some nasties at you!

I can only repeat what the ladies have already said. But don't let an inanimate object ruin what could be a long lasting friendship. Objects can be replaced, real friendships are hard to find.

Hang in there mate

Gen if you can find the answer to "what the **** changes to make it all fall apart!" be sure to let us know! I think you'd be a genius and raking in the $$$ with a solution to stop it falling apart!! Good luck with the come back!

Ani, 10 pounds of obesity left!! Woohoo! And well done on the 0.3kg loss!

Kel, whenever someone talks about Hungry Jacks, KFC, MacDonalds etc. it makes me feel lucky that I live in a place where they do not exist! We had an Eagle Boys pizza place open here a couple months ago, I think I mentioned it? I am proud to say I still have not set foot in the place!

The first day of my new journey has gone really well! I have eaten under 1500cals, drunk 1.5L water, and climbed 100m (500m step-ups) up Everest. I did go about measuring my bits this morning and I have those figures stashed away. I won't look at them again now until the end of the year, hopefully by then I'll see a difference?

That's me for today...although I feel inclined to do a few more step-ups to get further up that mountain!

Hi ladies

Kylie I'm sorry to hear about your break up. It sucks even when it is a friendly split so I hope you're ok.

I had a nice time in Wellington visiting my sister until Sunday afternoon when we got rear ended by a huge 4WD. My sister who is 5 months pregnant was in the front, her partner driving and me and my 6 year old niece in the back seat. We were driving along on a narrow road by the seaside, only going around 30kph when we slowed down a little to pass a parked car and smash, bullbars crunched up the back of our car like a tin can.

Police were called and the driver of the 4wd ended up being taken away and his car towed so I assume he was driving while disqualified or something similar. Thankfully we're all okay apart from having pretty bad whiplash.

So no weight training for me for at least a week and without the structure of that I'm feeling a bit off track. I've been slack with my diet over the past few weeks and my weight has been up and down. At least this week I weighed in down from last week and equal to my ticker so that's one thing.

Gen I can't decide on a reward, but I'm sure I'll come up with something. Your question about "what the **** changes to make it all fall apart" is something we all want to know. But I reckon if you can turn it around and find the answer to "what the **** changes to make it all come together and work for me" - you might get close to an answer.

Kel you crack me up. I've been under 85kg for about three weeks, and - as usual - taking things slowly. Unlike most people I don't seem to be able to pull big numbers on the scales, but I just keep plodding along, and it comes off eventually

Julia I'm glad you're OK after that accident. Was anyone in your family hurt?

Lindor - sounds like you're on fire matey. Try not to climb the WHOLE mountain in a day… even Edmund Hilary took a few months to get there

All is good here. I thought I was going to melt yesterday - it was 39.8ºC, which is ridiculous for November in Perth.

OK - I'm off to take advantage of the cool morning. I realised yesterday that there's no way I can work in this little room in the hot weather. It isn't air-conditioned, and it gets really hot. So I'm going to move my workspace into the air-conditioned loungeroom today.

Everyone ok thanks Ani, we've all got whiplash but that's all. I'm freaking out every time I see a 4WD on the road now though! I've gone right off them, they belong in the bush not in the 'burbs.

julia - that is so scary.... i am afraid of blue corollas for same reason except i ran into them they didnt run into me YEARS ago..... i am so glad everyone is ok

ani - i think the pounds thing threw me off.... i was sure there would be a big party for under 85 and that i had missed it.... congrats though is spring over yet?? did you lose 5kg for spring challenge???? i dont think i did....

lindor - you are not missing anything not having kfc or hungry jacks or maccas, they are definately a waste of money but still nice once and awhile sometimes... or sometimes you get a really bad burger (chips are generally bad) and then dont go back for ages.... luckily we have a really dodgy red rooster ACCROSS the road from our house, if it wasnt dodgy we would probably have it more often......... when u say you have not stepped foot into eagle boys... did you get them to deliver???? (hehehe)

we have3 been using new oven to make our own pizzas.... is this healthy??? depending of course what i put on it?? but generally is it healthy?

ani - who is staying with you now??? is that why you are moving your workspace into lounge as well to get more places where they wont want to be?

Kel, spring finishes at the end of November, and I don't think I'll make the 5kg goal. I had several weeks where I lost nothing, and it's only been in the last four weeks (when I switched to pounds) that I've started to drop weight again.

It's all good though - I am feeling very optimistic that I'll have a good summer this year

My new housemate is an apprentice electrician (mature-aged) and she is gone a lot of the time. Which I like!

Great stuff Jemima is crawling... My last is a lazy baby. She didnt crawl till 11 months and no walking till about 15 mths. She sat up on her own about 8 mths. You won't know yrself now. Be running around after her. Mind you though u can run around while they r rolling. Eb is doing wonderful... missing her mummy though these past few weeks, but next week she can have me back.

As for Vonni time and going for a walk - I used to walk every afternoon but someone always wants to tag along. I used to love just going and clearing my head. At the moment I've given up on Vonni time for now and given up on whinging about it. I'll be sure though to let you all know if and when it happens

Great job all in your efforts of late. I'm sorry if it seems I am focused on me me me..... but believe it when I say I have kept up with all the posts and reading all and congratulating each and everyone of you on yr positive ways. I find that even though we may gripe and moan about blowing it and falling off the wagon, most times positive thoughts and behaviour is setting in.

Speaking of behaviour - Gen have you had much to do with dementia patients? I went to diversional therapy today and played a board game with a lady. She had mild dementia but could read wonderfully. Anywho - another lady came along and her dementia was quite strong. The conversation that went on was hilarious the poor dears. It was sad though. I hope I don't get that way, however, by the time I got there, I wouldn't know it was happening anyway.

In all, clinical has been great so far and as I am working in the high care area there is always lots to do. The majority of residents are absolutely lovely. And I love it that I can brighten their day.

Anyhow enough prattling. Ani love that your housemate is away a lot. that gives you space. Gen good luck with the USA job either way you go. Julia how scary for you. I own a 4x4 and I am one of the courteous road users. I live in rural area but while not on a property I need it for the seating capacity and couldnt come at a van - (I hate not having a big bonnet in front of me)

Oh gotta fly - all saints is on

Sorry, going to be very short and sweet tonight!

625 step-ups done today!
Drank only 1L of water (but lots of coffee!)
Eaten under 1500cals! Maybe too much under 1500cals

Vonni, you are too good a Mum, house keeper and student for your own good! I hope you are able to find some Vonni time soon!

Kel, I don't even know the phone number of our Eagle Boys to even call for delivery! Come to think of it, I have never seen a little Eagle Boys car doing deliveries!

Julia, so glad you are ok after your ordeal with the 4WD! How scary! I have to admit I used to drive a 4WD, but I live in a very rural area! I gave it up after a drive to QLD and wrecking havok driving through Mt Isa! It was my first ever experience of city driving and I had absolutely no idea!!! Other than possibly scaring a few people (myself included!), I caused no damage and somehow managed to stay on the road...thankfully! After that trip I sold the 4WD and now drive a much smaller car!

Ani, I hope it cools down a bit for you! We apparently reached 45C yesterday! Guess I shouldn't expect a surprise visit from you then Gen?

Storm clouds are really starting to look promising in the evenings now though!

Ok, gotta move! Got a load of stuff to read before work tomorrow! Ugh!!!

Hello all

Although you guys are getting some pretty extreme temperatures I'm jealous! Today it's pouring with rain - not supposed to happen in November!! I'm still longing for the long hot summers that we used to have when I was a kid but global warming seems to mean national cooling for NZ.

No exercise yesterday, I went home from work early and ended up in bed by 7:30pm. My neck's feeling quite a bit better today and I'm aiming to go to the gym after work for at least 40 minutes of walking.

Hope everyone has a great day
