Tech--We are definitely keeping an eye on the hurricane. We want to go up to Gainesville this Saturday to watch the Gators play the first game of their season. Hope they (and we) don't get "hurricaned" out.

1st course-an amuse bouche (playful thing for the mouth--usually unexpected treat)-- a slice of sushi, but with a thin dough-like crust instead of seaweed--around shrimp (cooked) and avocado.
2nd course-- a silver dollar sized portion of smoked long island duck on a tiny pile of some grain, along with another silver dollar size of canary melon, balsamic reduction.
3rd. Pan roasted foie gras and georgia peach tart with cremona mustard (my favorite! also a tiny portion; I could have eaten three of them and gone to heaven)
4th. crab stuffed squash blossom tempura style, with violette mustard.
5th course--Grilled prime angus beef (filet mignon about 3 oz.) with a gorgonzola potato "crouton" (really a little potato cake about the size of the bottom of a glass or a coaster) and port wine jus.
6th course-- A cheese course consisting of 3 tiny pieces of cheese, each about the size of my little fingernail, along with some teensy tiny grapes and a miniscule dollop of roasted fruit of some kind.
7th course--dessert--I asked them to bring me a plate of fresh berries. This was not on the menu. All the desserts sounded wonderful, and if I were a normal eater I would have ordered the "pyramid of tanzanian chocolate mousse".
The dessert came with coffee which them made fresh at our table with some sort of fancy glass percolator under which they placed a flame.
I didn't overeat, but at the end of the5th course, the filet, I was satisfied. If I had been at home, I would not have eaten anything more. But I was a little worried my husband would notice or be distressed if I just stopped even tasting anything else. So I nibbled on the cheese and had just a few berries. With this meal came a different wine with every course except for dessert. The wine was paired with the food and it was good. They didn't fill the glass up all the way but just gave enough for that course. I didn't leave the restaurant loopy!!! What made me the most happy is that I did not gain any weight this weekend, even though we ate all our meals out!

If you come to Disney World and want to eat a meal like that, let me know and I will make you a reservation, or give you the phone number for Victoria and Albert's, a very fine restaurant indeed!

Hey everyone!

Well, I’m happy to say that Monday is over! Whew! One good thing..the escapee wasn’t here today nor was the kid that we had the parent conference from **** with on Friday. So, he missed Friday and today. We are hoping that she has decided to home school him! We just don’t want to have to deal with her!

Terry went to the heart doctor today and everything checked out OK – so we don’t know what happened last week but at least we know that he’s ok now. I did get some bad news over the weekend. My dad has prostate cancer. The good thing is that it hasn’t spread to any other place in his body – all is clear. They are going to do a seed implant which is a type of radiation treatment and everything should be ok. They seem very optimistic. It’s just hard for me because my mom died of cancer when I was 13 – she was only 47. I guess I’m doomed with both parents having cancer huh?

Well, my weight was down again – 2 ½ pounds since last week. Seems like I’m losing steadily – 2 – 2 ½ per week. That’s good I guess – especially since I allow myself a cheat meal on the weekend. If I don’t I will just go all out and blow it big time. If I try to stay 100% all of the time I know that isn’t a reality for me. So, if I happen to grab a burger on the weekend with some fries, it’s ok. I’ve just been making sure that my next meal is OP. I can’t let myself get off track for too long because then it’s all over!

Well, let me catch up with everyone!

MONET: I’ve been taking Tylenol PM at night to sleep for a couple of years now. The only time I didn’t was when we got Alexis and she wasn’t sleeping all night. I wanted to be sure that I heard her when she woke up! HA! Now that she sleeps – I’m on them again. I get up 3 or so times a night to pee. If I don’t take meds to sleep when I get back into bed and my mind starts wandering and then next thing I know – I’m up for an hour. Also, Terry gets up for work at 3:30 – well, the alarm is set for that time but after I have to snooze it 4 times I’d be wide awake if it wouldn’t be for good ole PMs.

THIN: That bad ole TOM – always screws up everything. I’ve been bleeding for almost 2 months now with these new pills I’m on – I could just scream!!!

GATOR: Congrats on the good MMM! Also – happy anniversary! We just had our 13th on August 6th. That meal doesn’t sound like anything I would enjoy – but I’m glad you did!! I’m sure it was a wonderful evening!

TECH: I can’t believe that your kids haven’t started school yet. We are already in week 4! Wow! When do they normally get out of school? I would offer to proof read but I SUCK in English! But, I would love to read the chapters as you get them done! I love to read! I read 4 novels this summer! I like John Grisham’s books. I just started another one. At first we were in the center of the cone but thank goodness it moved away – there are so many people in New Orleans that are still in FEMA trailers, working on houses, etc. They certainly didn’t need it – Not that Florida does – but hopefully he’ll just fizzle out!

SOLLY: Glad to hear your DD is dong WW with you. You are right though…you can’t make your other DD do it – she has to want to do it – I’m living proof of that!

TONI: WOOHOO! WTG on the loss! That ham and cheese on sour dough bread sounds divine! YUM! Send some my way!!

BETH: Sounds like you are doing GREAT!! I’m so proud of you! Get back on here once you get those computers up and running again! We miss you!

THUNDER: WTG on the loss! I hear ya on helping your parents – my dad has always been our handyman so if he needs anything – if I can do it – I will!

BOB: Looks like Ernesto will be just a fart in the wind as of right now anyway! You may not have much to worry about!

SEF: Sooooo good to see you on the board! I miss your daily posts!

Well, a little something something I forgot to mention earlier – Alexis had a parent visit today and she was babbling MAMAMAMAMAMA and her egg donor thought that she was actually calling her MAMA! She thought she taught her that. You know – on the 3 visits she has a month! HAHAHA! How dumb! I could say more about things that happened today but I would have to be degrading and sarcastic so I’ll refrain for now!

I don’t know that I’ll see y’all tomorrow – we have open house with the parents at school until 8:00 so I won’t get home until around 8:30 or later. I may be too tired to post! Wednesday, my niece is coming to town to play volleyball at one of the local HS so I’m going to watch her play and we may go to Dad’s for dinner. So, if that happens – I’ll be here on Thursday!!! Promise!!

Until then…much love!
Missy

We are watching Ernesto too! My mom and dad live on Tybee Island out from Savannah. We may have a mid-week visit from them if things get bad. Dad says he is comfortable with winds up to about 75 mph, after that he's leaving!

We had unexpected company for dinner. I totally crapped out though. I was so sleepy after dinner I came upstairs and crawled onto the bed and fell asleep for two hours ! I hope I can fall asleep now that it is actually bed time!

FRUIT: You are doing great! I hope those kids are homeschooled for your sake...

THIN: I hope your parents are not affected by the hurricane! I bet living on Tybee is nice most of the year!

THUNDER: That is totally cool...I am glad you can help your parents. At least you were moving!

Well, I'm still up...grrrr! I updated my ticker and set my Fla goal a little more reasonable. 219 is the lowest I've seen in a couple of years, so if I could get to 218 that would be something! Problem is we are leaving in three weeks, so I can't be too optomistic!

I just got in from my walk. It was getting hot...I procrastinated too long! I punished myself by pushing to a faster pace and got in my two mile route in 5 minutes less than I usually do it in. I am very competitive...even with myself! haha! I just finished breakfast...steel cut oatmeal, and a protein smoothie.

THIN: I think its good to set realistic goals for yourself...ones you can reach. I know its frustrating to lose slowly...I am the QUEEN of the turtles! I think if you can ramp up your exercise, it might help. The more you move, the better. I find I lose much better when I get in a good 30 minute walk every day, AND 30 minutes of water aerobics in the evening. Do you get any breaks at school? Could you take 15 minutes to walk fast around the halls? I had to trick myself into walking more at first. Like parking far away from doors to a store, going the long way around, or when grocery shopping conciously going from one side to the other, back and forth, to get more steps. I used a pedometer at first, and it helped a lot. But then, I am competitive with myself...

I don't really have a chance to do anything while at work, but I probably could come up with more time to get exercise in the evenings somehow. I'll have to think about it. It is very frustrating. I can see for myself how much my eating has changed and it seems that that ought to make a huge difference just in itself, but to no avail. Rachel's birthday is MOnday and she is having a couple of friends sleep over on Friday to celebrate. She wants an almond joy cake and I am thrilled. I don't like coconut!

Happy Tuesday

Hope everyone is still OP on day 2.

The girls' VB game got cancelled due to rain so I ran to the produce market and loaded up on fruit. Fruit is so much better there than the grocery. I didn't go to the gym and was afraid it would rain so didn't get a walk. But I did go downstairs and used our weight machine and did some free wtss and floor exercises. About 40-45 minutes. Will get to the gym tonight for sure.

Thunder, congrats on your loss. One more pound and you can make a fresh start.

Missy, so happy Terry checked out ok. Please keep yourself checked out as well. You will be a higher risk with both parents having it. Sorry about your Dad. Prostrate cancer can be cured if caught early. Will keep him in my prayers. Keeping my fingers crossed that those kids don't come back. Wouldn't that be nice. You are doing great with your wt loss. If a weekend off program is what you need, then I say go for it.

Gator, what a meal. I couldn't find anything on there I would eat other than the duck. I wish had a wider pallete (sp).

Thin, hope your parents aren't affected by the hurricane. I agree with Monet, ifyou want to reach your goal (which I thinkis very doable) then get out and get some exercise. Do you have any tapes you can do at home?

Monet, I do the same thing with my walks. I always try to beat my previous time, especially on the

Hope everyone has a great day.

Good Morning everyone!!!

We have a lot of LOSERS this week; that is great!!! I was at 121# this morning, so one more pound to go to get back to 120#, then I just gotta keep it there!

I had a meeting at Britt's school last night....homework is going to be a lot more consuming in third grade. She will have 25 spelling words a week (will increase as the year goes on), 6 vocabulary words a week, Math facts, Bible verse memorization, and 500 reading pages per month. There will also be additional homework sent home for Science, English, Chapel, etc.... Thank goodness she is so smart. I picked up her SAT scores from last year (2nd grade), and she didn't score second grade level in anything. The lowest she got was 4th grade level, and the rest were 5th-12th grade level, and some were even past high school level.

Delaney met her teacher yesterday (for 4's preschool), and she really likes her; I do too! She will start school next Wednesday. To ease separation anxiety, I have to give her a hug and kiss outside the classroom and send her in on her own. It's always so hard to do that. I will be aiding in her class 2-4 times per month. AND, now that she goes to school on Fridays, I will be able to volunteer in Britt's computer class on Friday, which is right before lunch. So, I will get to help in computers and have lunch with Britt before I even pick Lane up from school. I'm glad, because I feel I'm not able to do as much for Britt since I have Lane home with me. She is really excited!

So, who knows how much time I'll have to post....I'll give it my best shot.

Let's see what else....I still have not had contact with my parents (it's been a year and a half now). BUT, I have come to terms with it, and can't change anything. I was letting it affect my health too much, and realized it's not worth it!

I am going in for an MRI next Friday on my right breast. I found a lumpy area and they did an ultrasound and mammogram, but want to make sure it's nothing serious. They think it is probably scar tissue from the BR surgery I had three years ago. My breast are so dense (lumpy) anyhow, it's hard to tell. Just wish me luck or say a quick prayer that it is nothing, please?

My sister and I have been sending our food journals to eachother daily to be accountable. I think she still has about 30-35 pounds to lose, and I want to be supportive. It also helps keep me on track since I have to send it to someone.

Lane is going through a "SCARED" of everything stage (she just turned 4). She is afraid of the dark without a nightlite, and afraid of the shadows in the dark with a nightlight. She has the spray bottle for "whatever" and a little "stuffed" flower with my perfume on it, a flashlight in her bed and every imaginable stuffed animal. Even in the middle of the day, she can't go to any room of the house, including the bathroom without an escort. She is up at least 2-3 times a night, and I am EXHAUSTED!!! I know it is a stage and she will outgrow it at some point, but it is so tiring. The ped. told me that they don't differentiate between non-fiction and fiction at this stage and everything seems real to them. I just have to be as empathetic as possible without being cranky from no sleep (ha).

Britt's class is taking a floating lab trip in San Diego in the spring (during spring break). We are all going to go as our family trip; we usually go to CA. during Spring break anyway. They are offering very great discounts for the Wild Animal Park, and Sea World. AND then the floating lab trip is a 4-hour trip on a glass bottom boat, where they can learn about God's creations and interact with ocean life. It s/b a lot of fun. They are also offering great discounts on hotel rooms on the beach. They will have a big bonfire on the beach after the glass bottom boat deal on that Thursday. Spring break falls the week before Easter, so we would stay the full week, and then head home on Friday (Good Friday), and be home for the Easter weekend.

On to some replies before I get sidetracked again:

Monet: So glad to see you are finally seeing some losses, as much as you struggle with your weight. Is it due to new meds? How'd you end up sleeping last night?

Thin: You'll drop those TOM #'s in a few days; hang in there!

Gator: Great loss!!! I love garlic; can you share the recipe? My DH will eat his cornish hen and then 1/2 of mine, and then some; he is a healthy eater. I just wanted to thank you again for all the words of encouragement you gave to me when I had this falling out with my family. Your words of comfort are with me a lot and I think of you.

Tech: Why is school starting so late there? When did they get out for summer break? Is it year-round school there? Good luck to Derek on that job, so you can stay home and write your book; you could be the next "Harry Potter" success story!

Solly: It sounds like you and your DD are doing well. You have been getting to the gym a lot and your menu has been good. Those temptations at work can be so difficult; I remember it all too well. As far as a nutritionist; I never really was going to pursue that. I wanted to get into personal training, and may still do that down the road, but my "contact" is no longer in the business. I had a friend who owned a gym, and was going to help me get established and work out of his gym without paying him any rent, and be able to charge what I wanted and keep all the earnings for myself, and my business. He, however, got an offer he couldn't turn down, and ended up selling his gym to someone else. He had been in the business for many years, and I really can't blame him. I guess it wasn't in the cards for me right now.

Toni: Congrats on the 1# loss. I wish my DH would cook every once in awhile....but then again, I probably wouldn't want to eat what he made

Beth: Congrats on the weight loss and inches lost; that is fantastic!!! Keep up the great work!

Thunder: Congrats to you as well on the loss. Those re-gained pounds are a pain to get back off.

Fruit: So sorrry you are having a difficult school year. As tough as the situation was with the little boy running off and being totally out of control.....I do have to admit that I was laughing at your post when I read it, only because you write so well and it created a vivid picture in my mind. I am so glad that all turned out well for Terry. So sorry to hear about your dad, but I am sure the prognosis is very good if they found it that early and it is isolated....not to worry. As far as you being doomed, just remember that diet and exercise can prevent many forms of cancer. So, maybe you can use this as a reminder to continue to eat right and exercise whenever you can. Great job on the loss. Those "parental" visits have to just suck for you. Sorry you have to go through that.

Heart: How did you do over the weekend????

I gotta run. Have a great day!!!

Hi everyone...just a quick answer to the school question. School up here has always started the week after Labor Day...since I've ever known. I've never in my life associated September with anything other than back-to-school. I was shocked when I started on here that school in the South starts in August. That would have been totally unacceptable up here as we only have a good 2-3 months of summer-type weather and to think we'd spend any of it in a classroom would have been an abomination. We get out of school Mid-June. Our neighbors have been in Alabama for the past two years (army) and their kids have been out of school since early May...so they are getting really ansty to get back into the routine of school.

Kids are bad...time-out time

On the school starting dates: Outside of Chicago, where I grew up, school started the day after Labor Day. No variation! I don't get the mid August crap here. And in south Georgia, where the culture is mostly agriarian, it is just insane! The whole idea of school being out for summer was to have the kids available to help on the family farm. They need it here more than anywhere! If I had gone back to the school this year, the first day of classes was going to be August 14. That is just too dang early! I would rather get out in June, but last year we got out in Mid May! I will always associate September with school starting, and June with school getting out. I wish the school systems would quit messing with my head on this!

PANCHO: You are such a dear...I would love to adopt you and your girls. Wow, Britt did great on the SAT tests! You need to feed her interests, and keep her challenged. That trip to San Diego sounds awesome! Yes, the meds I am on now, Byetta, which is an injection, has been responsible. It does some kind of healing to the metabolism that fights insulin resistance. I have high hopes for it!

Thunder, mowing the grass is great exercise.

Pancho, wow, you sound so busy with school activities. The kids will love having you there. The trip to SD sounds awesome. Do al the kids go or is it voluntary? Sorry about the personal training job. You would have been great at it. Maybe in the future. Please keep us posted on your MRI and please, please watch that closely.
