Happy Friday Ladies

Our class is over and it is back to normal. Yeah! No big plans for the weekend. We need to get our mulch out and the grass cut. So that will fill up most of the weekend. We have to get our pictures made for our church directory. Right i the middle of the day too. bummer.

We went out to dinner last night. I just got a side salad. I did have one of my dd"s cheese stick. It was small.

Tech, I don't normally watch AI, but have caught parts the last few weeks. I think Ace is so hot and his brothers too. I saw the scar thing and thought that wasn't necessary as well as Paula's comments. I don't really have a fav, I guess Kelly, but I think the dumb thing is going too far. I was shocked to see Mandisa go.

monet, I think the food network is addicting too and I don't even like to cook. I love Racheal Ray's 30 minute meal shows. At least she cookes normal things that you would have.

Toni, glad you are still around. Send me some warm weather.

Thunder, good job losing those 2 lbs.

Ken, Good to see you. Post when you can. I know 2 kiddies are a lot of work.

teensy, Oh what a horrible accident. I do hope your mom is recovering quickly. Sending prayers. Yes the Basmati rice is legal.

Sandi, I use vanilla whey powder. That way I can add whatever fruit I want. I'm always afraid I won't like the choc and strawberry flavors. Dinner should be easy. Veggies and meats, chicken, fish.

Thin, I think housework counts as exercise. It should.

Cindy, sending prayers for your friend's son. How horrible. Hope he continues to improve. Enjoy your day off.

bf: ww bagel with 1 T pb
Lunch: 1 pc ww bread, egg salad, orange
dinner: baked cod, green beans, slaw

Have a great weekend ladies.

Here's my Friday funny:

I went to the doctor for my yearly physical. The nurse starts with
certain
basics.

How much do you weigh?" she asks. "128," I say. The nurse puts me on the

scale. It turns out my weight is 159. The nurse asks, "Your height?" "5

foot 8," I say. The nurse checks and sees that I only measure 5' 5".

She then takes my blood pressure and tells me it is very high.

"Of course it's high!" I scream, "When I came in here I was tall and
slender! Now I'm short and fat!"

She put me on Prozac.

I slept late. I am so relieved that I slept WELL. I sure hope it continues. I think the Sleepytime tea helps a lot.

I just got in from a good walk with Laura. I am heading out to the doctor's office in a bit. They called this morning to tell me my lab tests were in, and the doctor wants to change my thyroid meds, as well as have me monitor my blood glucose levels since they were high. I am not concerned, because I know what I had for breakfast that morning, and it was NOT typical, as it was my birthday and I wanted to have a special breakfast. I had made a french toast casserole that was NOT by any stretch of the imagination, SB friendly. So, I will take my BGL and see how it fares.

Ok, gotta go...will be back later.

Monet: I'm glad that you are out and walking again. Derek has been getting tests up the wazoo, too. He had an MRI/MRA done the other day and he's been a grump since worrying about it. Can't blame him. But they're sending him in for a glycemic test of some sort and he's mad that he has to stay for, like, five hours so they can test his blood every hour or so. I, myself, would be glad for the chance to have to sit and do nothing...imagine the reading and crocheting I could get done...for five hours...but he's antsy and won't like to be stuck in one spot for so long. But they are earnestly trying to get to the bottom of his dizzy spells that he's been having for a few years now. Its a big player in what makes him so grumpy and for that and his general health reasons, we'll all be glad to get to the bottom of it all.

Today for breakfast I had Kashi cereal and coffee....and for lunch I made a new bean soup, which is aobut the same as the black bean soup, except I used Canellini beans instead and cut up a really thick slice of deli ham into cubes and added that, as well. I'm now spoiled and don't want to eat canned soup again. What a difference home made is!!

Okay...will be backlater!!

My the board is slow.

Well, I am now concerned. While teaching me to use the glucose meter, I suggested to the nurse that I try testing my blood to see if I knew how to do it correctly. So, I did. It was VERY HIGH. She totally freaked out. They then tested me for ketones, and I was high on them as well. This is probably why I have lost some weight lately...ketosis acidosis. So, they gave me a shot of insulin and told me to drink some juice they had for me and eat something as my glucose levels were going to come down rapidly. I ate a Larabar, and the juice, and went to the grocery store on my way home. I filled the prescription for the meter supplies, and shopped, had a sample of cheese, and a slice of deli chicken, and came home. I tested my glucose level and it had barely come down with the shot of insulin! The clinic manager thought my exercising this morning contributed to the ketosis, but I am really bummed about the blood sugar levels still being so high. SO, I am back on the extreme straight and narrow. I have had high insulin levels but my sugars were always fine. I guess I have just reached the point of insulin resistance that means I can't process sugars correctly. I know diet and exercise SHOULD help, so I am going to try and walk every day and get more careful about the starches.

So, that is my depressing news that I am dealing with. I hope everyone is well, and that the weekend is awesome for you!

EVENING EVERY BUDDY!!!

I'M SOOOOOOO GLAD THAT THIS WEEK IS DONE WORK WISE!! ONE MORE WEEK AND COUNTING UNTIL THEY ALL GO HOME!!!
After that, we'll have around a month of normal roads, being able to get out to eat without standing in line (I've already decided where I want to go for my birthday dinner!) I think that I'll get a big ole white flag and stand at the top of the on ramp and wave them off~!! Can y'all tell I'm getting excited???

OK....so I saw BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN last night. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
It was done very well and IF you haven't seen it, try to do so. I know that I've talked to a lot of Men who WILL NOT see it because they can't get by the
two guy thing. I can honestly say to you that even though I sat here and watched what was going on, the movie isn't about sex or Homosexuals. They actual story is good and there is a plot. SO...DON'T MISS THIS ONE!!

I have two other movies for the weekend:

G starring Blair Underwood

BEE SEASON starring Richard Gere

As always, I'll let y'all know about them.

COLLEEN...OH...MY....GAWD!!!! Your poor Mother!!! I'm so glad you were close enough to get to her! Bless her...give her a hug from all of us and tell her we're sending good thoughts her way!!!

CINDY...I couldn't tell. Are you glad the OT is over? As long as you've been doing it, you've got to be worn out! I know the money is always good when you do extensive OT, but I swear, when the bell rings, I'm the first one out the door!!! I am changing my hours starting Monday to 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Even that thirty minutes makes a difference!! If I could afford to do it, I would leave everyday at 2p.m.

MONET...
OH...MY...GAWD!!!! Does this mean you have full blown diabetes? I'm rocking on the edge myself and truly believe that I'm on my way to what happened to you today. I know that I'm insulin resistant and my cholesterol and my blood fats are both so off the charts!! The Health Nurse at the Hospital told me about ZETIA the new cholesterol medicine that works from your stomach and not your liver. I'm going to talk to my Doc about it and see if it's something that will help me. Do you think that bread that you ate in the car sent you over the top?

KRIS... Hope D's tests are fine!

I'm off to watch some movies...HAVE A GREAT EVENING!!

Good morning! Its rainy here, so we are waiting until it clears some to get out and walk. I am going to have to walk every morning...the dang BG levels were horrid this morning... 3x what they ought to be. Tom was supposed to go to a big tree climb up in the mountains, but with the rain, he decided not to. I need to clean some and get to the store. We are having Justin's parents over for dinner tomorrow. They are leaving next weekend to move to Vermont. I was going to make a curry our family loves, but one of his parents does not like curry so I am making lasagna instead. I hope it does not send my BG levels through the roof.

BOB: Yes, I am now considered a diabetic. Look, if you are sitting on the fence, don't mess around with it. I am feeling almost panicked about how high my blood glucose levels are. Just a year ago, they were fine! Something has snapped, and I am sorry now that I was rather wishy washy about somethings...like eating potatoes when I felt like it, or sugar. The wedding probably did not help because I failed to plan, so I failed! I ate what was convenient when I was busy and it was not necessarily good for me. I lost weight because I was in a serious situation with my BG and ketones.... So, quit messing around and get serious. You do NOT want to have to go through this. It is not fun. I did hear from Susan a few weeks ago, and she was buried in work. Lets keep at her...I don't want to lose her. I have enough to be depressed about.

Oh my gosh Monet I'm so sorry about your BG levels. That is so scary. And did I miss wishing you Happy Birthda last week??????? If I did a great big Happy Birthday...

Teensy so sorry about your Mom. Sending up prayers for her. Hope you get some rest.

Bob- I wanted to see Brokeback Mtn. before and you just confirmed it. I WANT TO SEE IT.

Tech- Good luck goes with Derek and his tests. Hope they come out well.

Have to run.... Hi to Cindy, Solly, Thin, and Gator.... Have a good week end....

Monet: I have two silver linings for you. First of all...think of your years of Sugar Busting as your saving grace that you don't have full-blown diabetes. Having it may have been programmed into your destiny all along, but since you've been at least consious of your sugar/insulin spiking foods, you've caught it at an early stage where it's controllable. Second silver lining is, my dad caught his early on and is able to keep things totally under control with exercise and diet. He doesn't use ANY medication. In fact, he's now in the best shape of his life (at about 70 years old!!). So, it may not be the best news of your life, but it may not be the worst, either. Stay clear of the bubble tea and get out there walking every day and, now that you know, you can do something about it. By the way...I got my dad a book from amazon for his birthday after he found out (it was for my mom, too) that is called 1,001 diabetic recipies and they LOVE it. Lots of casseroles and things. I'm so sure that once you get in a regular exercise routine and now that you're under doctor's care, you'll be feeling up and over the top great sooner than you think!!

Monet,

I have got a min or two so I want to give you a BIG {{{hug}}}. I am so sorry about your new diagnosis. As you know I am pre-diabetic and that is why I am here doing SB so I kind of know what you are going thru. I shed some tears, felt depressed for a while but then, I realized that in a way it was a blessing in disguise. I am just glad diabetes is not something that is of immediate treat to my life (it could be worst) and that I can do something about it now. I might become diabetic or maybe not in the future, who knows but knowing the diagnosis has given me a chance to look at my life differently. You can do it...you are such a strong person

Tom and I went and got haircuts, and then to the park to walk. Its right on the river and it was lovely walking through the woods, and along the paths on the river. Pretty, pretty! Out of curiousity, I checked my bg levels and they are falling slowly. I would like to see them crash, but I am happy as long as it continues to fall.

Gotta go whip up something for dinner....

Monet , Im sorry to hear of your diagnosis. I know that must be scary but maybe it is a wake up call also. I mean that in the best way. I have to be careful myself because it is in my family and I do get tested every few years. I have been not as strict as I should be. Not so much eating sugar or starchy carbs but just not eating as healthy as I know how and the important thing for me is keeping my weight down. I am back on the very strict and narrow as of this morning. Sometimes though it takes a scare to get us rolling back in the right direction. Lets all get some prayers going that we can ALL do this for our health.
Not much going on here for the weekend. I shampoo'd carpets yesterday and then we just did some running around and then went to dinner at Joes crab shack and I had some crab and shrimp. Dh and I have started our own bible study here together at home on Saturday nights, with just us two ( last night was our second one) and it is a wonderful bonding time. I started going friday nights for a womens ministry study group and we had a wonderful time. Its going to be a very enlighting session. I am blessed that my niece is there and my daughter will be going as of next friday. So it will be a fun womens night out.
Not much going on today but church and housework. Maybe get some sewing in later in the day and my exercises.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Good morning! Its going to be a busy day. I am teaching an art lesson for the kids at church this morning. It should be fun, but work nonetheless. This evening, Justin's parents are coming for dinner. This will be the last time before they move to Vermont. I am fixing lasagna, those whole wheat Texas toasts that Solly mentioned, salad and a leftover chocolate cake from the wedding for dessert. I will NOT eat cake, or toast, but will try and fill up on the salad and have a small piece of lasagna. Having to test my blood sugar after dinner before bed will probably be a very good motivator. This morning, it was down just a bit, so it IS slowly falling, but still three times the normal rate.

I need to go eat breakfast, so I will try and check in later.
