  • Tech, we were posting at the same time. What a project you have undertaken. I wish I were that talented to make all that stuff. Head is all cleared up. Go figure.
  • Solly: I LOVE making curtains. I've made the curtains in every single room in my house. I hate to spend money on them...they're SO expensive...and I can never find what I want. So, I watch a lot of the home improvement shows on BBC America and they explain in great detail how to do things like curtains, so it made me brave enough to try my own. The curtains in my dining room are a paprika colored toile and I found what I wanted at Country Curtains...for $60 a window!! So, I found the material at Walmart on the $2/yd table and made my own for $4 a window....sure, they're not lined and are slightly flimsy...but who cares!? I put a stencil on in between my two windows and I'm going to put the same stencil on some poster board and put two of them in frames and put them on the wall. I'm having a ball!! I'm so glad you're head is feeling better!!
  • Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!!!

OK, I am looking for some breakfast advice. What on earth can I eat on the run. I like to eat breakfast in the car and my beloved Zone perfect bars that had 16 grms of protein also have 28 grms of sugar!! I tried an apple and milk this morning and I was soon starving. I am alone in the a.m. and I have to get me and the little guy out of the house, so I need something quick and portable. Sometimes I can eat @ work, sometimes not.

    Thanks!!!
  • Good afternoon everyone. I've been trying to get back on here all day but couldn't, finally I'm here. My eating hasn't been really well. I had a Kashi granola bar for breakfast. (should have had eggs or something more solid) L- was eggplant parmesan and S-was some nuts and a banana. (To many nuts and the banana was ripe) Tonight is salmon and a salad. I'm struggling still but each day brings me closer to being back on SB.

Solly- Glad your dizzy spell is over. Yes we had storms last night. Today is sunny and windy.

    Talitha- Congrads on the promotion!!!!

Thunderwoman- You'll do better this week. Maybe thats water gain because of the soda's. Just drink lots of water now.

Monet- You've got it right, those puppies are like having a toddler. But its good for me. He makes me get out and do things..

Thin- What a good Mommie you are, always walking your dog. I envy that.

Cindy- My puppy (Jackson) is a male boston terrier. He's 3 mos. old today. I just love him, he's so much fun.

Tech- That feeling great is what I want..... I've just got to exercise... You're so lucky you can sew....

I'd better get off here before I lose this post. The site is giving me fits..
  • Hi everybuddy,
I'm down 1/2 lb from last week, but still not down to my previous low. I have 7 pounds to get to that. So it will still be a long haul. Being in the right mind-set to look at totally healthy eating as such a wonderful thing to do for myself has not been as easy as I had hoped.

Solly, hope that the Gators do the SEC proud tonight. It will be a VERY CLOSE game I'm thinking, and I'm almost afraid to watch. It is hard to watch when a lot is on the line. I don't have any problem at live games, but TV watching is hard. I will be a French class tonight until 9:30, so will miss most of the first half.

We are going to have our big screened in back porch redone, with windows with sliders and screens put in. That way we can have a lot of fresh air and breeeze, but when it gets cold or too hot, we can close the windows and have the room to use all year long. The contractor came over this afternoon and looked at everything. I don't know when they will start; probably in a couple of months.

Monet--I got a new KitchenAid mixer this weekend. My DS had one that his gf gave him Christmas a year ago, and he never even opened the box. Since my old 43 year old Sunbeam Mixmaster died when I was fixing the wedding cake, I knew it was time to finally get a new one. Anyway, the GF just gave me my son's and I gave her a check for what I figured she payed off ebay or wherever. I got a K45 and would like to get a 3 qt. bowl to go with it. Do you ever use a splatter guard or plastic thing for adding ingredients?

Jacob'sMommy--congratulations on the loss. It is really nice having you here with us. Your picture avatar is really good. You look so nice.

Talitha--I know how excited you are about your new bathroom. I imagine that there are a lot of changes that have happened in your house since I was there last fall. BTW, did you ever get those things from Arbonne?
  • Sandi: The quick fix answer to your question is that anything that says South Beach is going to be low sugar. I have some of their cereal bars...peanut butter is good...and that's good for a fix in the car. That and an apple would be a good place to start
  • I spent the morning after I woke up, working in my closet. You all would not believe how bad it was! Anyway, I piled and piled stuff on the bed, and around the floor, and finally got to the point where I could start tossing stuff out and then rearranging and putting boxes and stuff back into the closet. I have run out of steam though. I still have the bed piled high and Tom is not going to be happy with me!

SANDI: Breakfast ideas: individually wrapped cheese, beef jerky(i have a great recipe if you want it) PB&J, hard boiled egg, protein shake, sandwich, ham and cheese rolled up together...

Gotta go...Tom just walked in and looks like he is going to faint!
  • EVENING EVERY BUDDY!!!!

Today was a little better than Friday...ALTHOUGH...I was 30 minutes late for work!!! I set my clock, but for P.M. NOT A.M. !!!!! THANK GAWD FOR KATE!!!! KRIS, I'm surprised you didn't hear her yelling all the way up there!!!

DANGIT. JACKIE and you too TALITHA...YOU BOTH KNOW WHAT IT DOES TO ME WHEN YOU TALK ABOUT KROGER!!!!

As for the STARS....can you believe GENE SIMMONS (from KISS) at APPLEBEE'S????? Chevy Chase and his wife were around, but I didn't see them. I'm waiting on Wm H Macey and his wife Felicity Huffman...Her movie is sold out and he is being honored at a luncheon on Wednesday. They interviewed Chevy on our local news and he was standing there mopping his brow with his hankie talking about how hot it is and was wearing a LEATHER JACKET!!!! DUH!!!

SANDI...I know getting the "little Guy' out the door is the priority, but so are you, so take about 5 extra minutes and scramble up an egg OR..boil up some eggs and keep them on hand. I do that a lot..you've got your protein plus it's quick and easy...throw in an almost ripe banana and voila!!!

SOLLY...70 mph winds???? GIRL...you almost had a hurricane right off the OHIO river! You had me worried about the dizziness...GLad it's better! I'm watching ALTON BROWN...and where is he????
    KROGER!!!!

TONI...A NEW PUPPY??? Did I miss something????

MONET...I was dragging today from missing my sleep on Saturday night...This is getting quite old and I'm tired of it! I don't want to take my LUNESTA every night, but looks like I'm going to have to try that route!

GATOR...I was hoping for an ALL SEC final, but since that's not going to happen.....I know Kate will be watching!!!

    KRIS....POOR JUNIOR....

Dsquared...looks like some really big and fullfilling goals for the year. GOOD LUCK!!!

TALITHA....CONGRATS ON THE PROMOTION!!!! When do you leave for THE BAHAMAS?

Well CHICKS....I'm off to find something to eat...Everyone have a GREAT EVENING!!!

    BOB
  • Well, I got the bed cleaned off so Tom has someplace to sleep tonight! I still have a lot of stuff to look through and throw out before I will be done.

We went to spaghetti night at some friends' house. The pasta was whole wheat, and everything was legal, even the garlic bread I found at Kroger that was whole wheat. I did eat a doughnut for dessert! The wife is my nutrition and health buddy...so we played with her new muscle testing kit she got at a nutrition conference this past weekend. I tested sensitive to wheat, corn, citrus, coffee, milk, and soy. Organic coffee was better. I am going to try using digestive enzymes to see if that helps. It seemed to with the testing.

GATOR: I do use a splash guard with my kitchenaid some times. Its very helpful when adding flour for cakes and stuff. Enjoy the kitchenaid! I love mine...and have for almost 30 years.
  • Yeeeeee Haw!!!!!!!! Go GATORS!!! NCAA National Basketball Champions! Great for the SEC--the country's toughest conference.
  • Happy Tuesday.

I think I died when I hit that bed last night. Didn't even get up once to go to the bathroom. That is unusual for me.

We went to the gym for about 75 minutes. I didn't want to go at all, but was glad after I got there and got my cardio over.

Same plan for tonight. it has turned cold here and I was so enjoying the warm weather. what a bummer.

    bf: protein shake, strawberries
    lunch, chili, orange
dinner: hamburger (no bun), sweet potato fries (yummy) and cooked spinach.

Dsquared, How nice it is to have such goals and be working toward accomplishing them. They all are large goals too. Good job on no chocolate last week.

Tech, window treatments of any kind are outrageous. Luck you being able to make them. I have found the SBeach bars to be high in sugar.

Sandi, I have been eating (drinking) a protein smoothie every morning. The protein holds me until lunch. I use whey protein powder, strawberries, 1/2 c oj and 1/2 c water. Under 200 calories and I drink it on the way to work.

Toni, one day at a time, or one meal at a time. You can do this. Hang in there girl.

Gator, Congrats to your gators. They played awesome. Wasn't even a close game which made it better. I was so excited for Billy. Think he will quit wearing the championship ring he got at UK now? The SEC won the NCAA and the NIT. Woo Hoo! Congrats on your 1/2 loss. It is such a struggle, but we will prevail.

Monet, glad Tom had somewhere to sleep last night. I love that ww bread at Krogers (sorry BOb) and now Texas Toast makes a ww one that is fab. Now you are making me want spaghetti.

Bob, I guess those stars would rather look good then be comfortable. I would take the Lunesta every night until you get back into a set pattern. I took them EVERY night while doing chemo and had no problem getting off them at all.

Got to run. Have a great day.
  • Good morning to my buster buddies! I slept very well last night...just woke up once to go potty. I was comatose when Tom woke me up to say good bye. He actually was just going to drop James and work, then take his truck battery to have it tested. I was sleeping so deeply at the time, I could barely figure out where I was and what day it was! He was only gone about 30 minutes, and then changed and rushed out to work. At least I was up and making him some espresso. I woke up with a bad headache...two sips of espresso and it seems to be going away. I guess it was from lack of caffeine...though I had two diet cokes yesterday. They must not have as much caffeine as espresso...

Today, I have to do laundry. Tom is going to Chicago tomorrow for two days. He is going to need something to wear! I have a lot of odds and ends to finish up with my closet project. So much to do! And so little motivation!

It turned cold over night. Its pretty out, but the pollen is ghastly. I cleaned off the dining room table this morning...because it was covered with pollen from having the windows open yesterday! The towel I was using was yellow. Gross.

GATOR: Congrats to the Gators on their win! Oh, the K45 is the best one to have. The man who replaced the brushes in mine told me NOT to buy the big one with the crank up bowl. He said the K45 has not changed in design in years and years, and it is the best, longest lasting one they make. I have a K45 and have used it heavily for close to 30 years. Why would you want a 3 quart bowl? In case you did not see my earlier reply, yes, I use a splatter guard at times. Especially when I am having to add ingredients with the mixer running. Like cakes.

SOLLY: Texas toast makes a ww one? I saw the Texas Toast brand at Kroger yesterday, but did not see any ww ones. I will have to look again. The ww Pepperidge Farms one was really good. I bought two of them, and cut them kind of small and it all was eaten in a flash! I had not had spaghetti in ages, so it was awfully good last night. I think next time we go to it, I will take a big bag of salad, as there was no veggies other than the tomatoes in the sauce, and the parsley I took for garnish as a joke.

BOB: Are you getting any exercise? Even just a leisurely stroll late afternoon might help with the sleep. I find I sleep much better when I am exercising regularly. Sorry I keep mentioning Kroger. Its a novelty since I usually shop at Publix. ( own stock, so of course...)

TONI: When you are struggling is when the board can be most helpful! Don't be a stranger! Can you post a picture of Jackson for us?

TECH: That is awesome of Derek to work on rooms like that! Tom always has his own agenda, and rarely puts himself at my disposal! I wonder why? hmmm... He likes working in the yard, and this time of year, that is a top priority. Only a few weeks until Good Friday, which according to his farmer father, is the day to plant the garden. His father always did...so he tries but we are often late!

    I will be back later!
  • Morning Ladies. Now that THe craziness is over, I'm working on re-claiming my house. It's out of control!!! I haven't done more than the minimum to keep it going for a month now, and it shows. I've been doing laundry all morning,a nd I'm tyring to sort out winter clothes now. THe kitchen is a mess becasue my Brother and his girlfriend dropped by to visit at 8pm last night and hadn't eaten! I amde carbonara with brown rice pasta and a salad. Travis made brownies, while I was out running some errands. I came home and almost killed him "Don't you know I'm not allowed to eat that!" The poor guy. He couldn't find corn oil and thought he could use corn SYRUP instead/ It's all corn, right? Let's jsut say that made it very easy for me to pass them up. Although, my brother and his GF said they were great. YUCK!!!!!

Now that I'm Area Manager, I'm allowed to have a babysitter one day a week. I'm so excited!! That's what Travis and I agreed to when I started. Today is my first day!! I'm starting out with just the afternoon. I hired my SIL who works in a daycare. She only works mornings, but she hates it and has been looking for a PT nanny job. When the baby comes, she'll quit her job and start coming 2 days a week. But what's great is that she's totally flexible. Some days she'll watch the kids, some days she'll do admin work for me so that I can take the kids out for fun. I'm so excited. It's the perfect setup.

I didn't make it to the Y yesterday or today. I've been having some problems with my heart raceing over the weekend and felt like I needed to take a break. Also, I'm just so stressed out by the state of the house, that I think getting it liveable againw ill help me relax. And we all know that I need to clean slow, or I'll pay for it with my back!! So I'm taking my time, and all the walking and doing the floors and stuff is good exercise anyway. Yesterday I was starting to have some pretty strong BH contractions and had to lay down. I'm sooo not looking forward to this being like that. I was really hoping that I would make it without bedrest this time becaus eI'm being healthier So, I'm slowing down hoping that that will help.

MONET- I bet I'd beat you with how much laundry I have to do!! I'm cleaning out closets, too. Great minds, huh? Did your friend get a Vega machine? That's what my Naturopathic Dr uses.

Gator. Your stuff came in yesterday and I'll be amiling it out today during my FREE TIME!! Trav is almsot ready to fip up the floors in the bathroom. Probably this weekend. I'm so excited!!

Bob- Sorry, I'll keep my Krogering to myself

Solly- I've got to find that Texas Toast!! Travis would be thrilled!!!

Toni- you can do it!! Just make one choice at a time. Challenge yourself to make small individual choices that are better, and eventually you'll be back OP without even knowing it!!

Ok, Jake's asleep. Break over. I gotta get to cleaning.
  • Gee I'm so late I feel like I've come to the party to late...LOL. My morning just flew by. I read awhile while sitting outside with Jackson. I got the book Just Peace with Jimmy Carter and Matti Stepanek. And am starting to read it. But of course Jackson doesn't want me to do anything but play with him. I tried roasting vegetables in the oven. Any tips would be appreciated. I put some olive oil on them at 400 degrees for 40 min. They were pretty good. And I ate a large plateful along with spinach salad and salmon. Tonight is a hamburger patty with cheese, green beans, and a salad. Lunch was egg salad. I've got to get busy and drink some water.

Gatorgal- Congrads on the 1/2 lb.

Bob- Yep I got a new puppy we've had him about a month now. He's a real handful and keeps me jumping...Glad Kate woke you up. That sure throws my day off when I get up late.

Solly- what kind of protein shake are you drinking? I would like one but have no idea where or what kind to get.

Monet- I know you're right about coming to the board. I've felt like such a failure. But I did keep lurking... Thanks for the encouragement.

    Talitha- Thanks girlfriend!

Well a friend is coming over for tea. So I should at least straighten the kitchen a bit...... Be back later...
  • Well, I got one load of laundry washed, dried and put away. Then, while it was drying, I got the bright idea to watch a bit of foodnetwork. Yeah...so over and hour later, I got another bright idea...turn off the boob tube. So I did. I fixed myself a salad with feta and olives for lunch, and now I am procrastinating.

I have piles of stuff I need to deal with. I am leaning towards just tossing stuff....but I have books and stuff someone might be able to use. I could try selling the school books on ebay, but I just don't want to be bothered by it. I need to just get tough and toss. I live with a bunch of packrats.

I will be back later. I am beginning to feel a bit of motivation and I MUST act on it!
