Good morning to all.....

I just got the Atkins do-hickey also on my screen......

Can I just say THANKYOU to all of you??????????
Ya'll make me feel pretty by ya'lls comments....I have to say it has been a long time since I have received any compliments (except from DS-he always tells me) It brought tears to my eyes this morning and really made my day. I was supposed to go to court today to finalize the divorce but it was postponed. I just want to get it over with and move on with my life.

Heartmom- Hope Boogie gets to feeling better. Braylee was running a high fever last night also. We have to take her to Texas Childrens on Monday for some diagnostic test.

Does anyone watch The Bachlorette or Joe Millionaire? I saw the American Idol where the guy thought he was Madonna OMG !!!!! The one girl from Texas isn't too far from me.

Quilter- Thanks for the AGE compliment. I will be 33 in April.

Happy Birthday Dawn........Hope you have a wonderful day....

A Quick Request

Hey!

This will be quick as I have to leave for a staff meeting at the church in a few minutes, but I wanted to ask that you remember the folks of Kinston, NC in your thoughts and prayers today.

My brother and his family live in Kinston, NC--not too far from where that pharmaceutical plant blew up last night. They are all fine, but the whole town in in shock. My SIL's sister and her family were in the section of town that was evacuated last night because of the smoke. They were going to my brother's house (which is only about another mile or two away from the plant). They don't really know what was in the smoke that was pouring over the town last night and many folks will be coping with the news that loved ones are dead or seriously injured. The people of this small town are good people, please remember them in your prayers today.

Thanks,
Susan

Hi.

Gartorgal: A quick note to you....I can't find any of the recipes from you from the get together. I especially was looking for the cheese and tomato tart. Would you please, please put it on the recipe board (I looked but couldn't find it) or email me. Many thanks in advance.

We are expecting company any minute. Our neighbors in NC are visiting some other friends and they are dropping by for lunch.

Hope all of you have a great day.

Where is Solshine? JRed? And I know others are missing as well.

Solly 01-30-2003 02:06 PM

My My we have been a busy group since I left yesterday. I am finally getting around to reading all the posts and posting. It has been a busy morning and of course had to have my lunch.

One of my lbs are gone. Who knows what is going on with me. Nothing goin on with me so on to you.

CiaraLinn, I have not found a substitute for cornbread, but that is one of the things I miss the most. WTG on those 6 pounds. Who cares what kind of wt they are, they are gone.

Dawn, Happy birthday to you. Have a great one. :hb: :gift: Good for you not eating that cake. WILLPOWER!. Every person gains before TOM differently. You just have to knowyour body and don't worry about it. Good for you venturing out and trying those recipes.

Zanne, Sorry your are feeling bad. Hope the cold disappears soon and well as a pound or two.

Deb, Don't know why TOM is messed up. I'm even on the pill. Guess I'm just getting old. I'm ready to get rid of the whole thing. Stay off that scale. Give it to Lauren to hide. How sweet of you to volunteer at the food bank.. DOesn't surprise me though.

Bob, THe Wild Oat is in the shopping center I think called BLuegrass Manor. Where Hawley Cooke is and the post office. Not the one right next to the Mall where Toys R Us is but right night to that one. Hope to get there soon.

Fruit, glad you had another great day. You are kicking butt. Keep up the great work.

Nomoresugar, Senidn good thoughts for you tomorrow at the oral surgeons.

Quilter, GOod idea on the 10lb goals. And when you get there, reward yourself with something. The first thing I bought was new pj's. Then a purse, then a top. It works pretty good. My biggest motivation was I didn't want to fail again and everybody say, they knew I wouldn't do it. I wanted to prove them wrong. TO this day, I won't cheat in front of my friends. Good idea on journaling during your ride. That is smart use of time. We watch ALl my Children. Have watched it for 30 years. I thought about you last night. DD & I were looking thru bead books trying to pick the beads for the wine charms we are making for the wedding. Too much math involved for this dummy. Alot to choose from too.

IDblond,I sure hope they approve a specialist for you soon. You should definately being seeing one. Feel better.

Fillise, Hope you are back on track today. If not, I am coming to get you. That was such a horrible accient in NC. Glad all your family are safe.

Linworth, we will be looking for you at chat next week.

Gracious, those cashews are hard to control. I know. Cute cat story. Have fun with all those boys. Can I send you my Avon order. Love their lip liner.

Maemae, you are pretty. Believe it. You should feel good about yourself everyday. You are moving on with your life, a single mom, getting anew job and losing weight. How perfect.

Have a great afternoon. Hope to check in before I leave today.

Need advice ASAP!

Got a Happy B.day call from my mom this morning. She was in the process of baking me one of my favorite illegalities--a yellow sheet cake w/ choc. icing! I'm going over there tonight to get some and while I do intend to share some with my husband--and maybe even my co-workers--I do intend to have some myself--my birthday cake after all. My attitude is this: if someone is going to go out of their way to prepare you food, you eat it unless you're allergic to one of the ingredients (f'rinstance I cannot eat bananas or melons because I'm allergic to them). To refuse food otherwise is the very height of rudeness, and Lord knows there's enough of that in the world already. I don't expect my mom to know what's legal and what's not, and I don't want to burden her anymore than she's already burdened. My dad died most unexpectedly almost 2 years ago, and since then, it's really been hard for her (it's been hard for all of us, but Mom's had to have a crash course in many things, on top of greiving). Bottom line: I don't want her to have to remember not to forgot something else that she's supposed to remember.
I'm thinking I'll enjoy some cake, but increase my exercise. Comments? I certainly wasn't expecting this, and frankly I'm surprised that she had the energy to bake anything. I'm also quite touched. (it can be argued that I've been touched for a while now--touched in the head that is:lol: )

heartmom 01-30-2003 03:49 PM

Dawn- Have a slice of cake! It's your birthday. Drink lots of water and increase your protein. I know on Feb.8th, I will also be having a slice of cake since it's my daughter's birthday party. I doubt there will be any leftovers, but if so then I'm going to make someone take them home.

Okay, guys I'm pooped! I did the 2 mile tape for the third day in a row, and it kicked my butt today! I'm all red faced and sweaty. The scale said 211 today- so down 1 pound if it's not lying! I contribute that to the exercising. Just a little bummed about not losing any from this WOE. Hopefully, the exercising will increase my metabolism. BTW- did you guys know that Nature's Own came out with a new bread? It's called Reduced Carbohydrate Plain Wheat. It has 7 g of carbs a slice instead of the SF having 11. No sugar. Tastes very similar to the SF kind. And it also has 6g protein per slice.

Hello ladies!

I'm in the process of planning for our trip to Atlanta. We head up on Monday, Have a dermatologist appointment on Tuesday, an Exam Under Anethesia with the opthalmologist on Wednesday after which we're driving to Tifton to stay w/DH's family, then home on Thursday. I'm getting tired just thinking of it. The BIG praise this time is that we'll be staying with my grandmother's cousin instead of having to get a hotel room. I've only met this woman once before in my life, but she's being soooo kind and opening her home to us!

I'm on my second fully-legal day in a row. I have the WORST time getting back on track when I slip. I'm just sick of being fat and flabby. I'm really ready to be fit and fabulous!

Heartmom- You go girl! What an adventure potty-training must be. Marshall’s 19-months and one-time “asked” to sit on the potty. He did go then, but ever since he’s only interested in disassembling the potty seat. Luckily, we’ve got a LOT of time to work on this!

MaeMae- Congrats! I’ve been kinda out of it lately! What type of job is it you got?

Trish- You’ve certainly got friends in high places! Or at least friends with friends in high places :-)

Zanne- Sounds like you may be getting the flu that’s been going around here. We have two out of the office today, one last week and about four are sniffling now. Get some good, legal chicken soup in you and rest up! We don’t want you getting full-blown sick!

BOB- ROFL! That was a hoot about the proctologist!

Gracious- I was an Avon lady for a while in college. I really enjoyed doing it! Have fun!

Dawn- HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Good for you avoiding that cake…And eat your birthday cake and enjoy! This day only comes once a year. Ya gotta enjoy it!

Susan- Oh my! I hadn’t heard about the explosion. I will certainly be praying for all there.

Hello!

Well, I lied to you.........NO I didn't cheat - But - I absolutely have no time to post to everyone tonight like I thought I would! So, it will have to wait until tomorrow. Hope you all had a wonderful day!

DAWN: Happy Happy Birthday!

MOM2MARSH- Boogie will be 3 in April- he's just now getting accustomed to it. Before, he would literally kick the potty anytime you asked him if he had to go potty- or throw it across the room. It's all in their own time.

Well, I ate too much chili tonight. I had 2 bowls loaded with beans and lots of cheese. So I felt guilty and decided maybe doing the 1 mile tape would ease the guilt a little. So I've done a total of 3 miles today- great! Glad hubby went over to his friends house so I could(wouldn't be taking up the tv,lol). Tomorrow I won't be able to do the tape since it's my "busy day". I'm feeling good about the exercising- should have done it a long time ago, lol.

GatorGal 01-30-2003 09:36 PM

SEF--Maybe they both had the roto-virus. That gives pretty bad symptoms.

Jack-K--Are you talking about those black uniforms. They have a couple of different ones, but one is predominantly black and I don’t like them either. Word has it that the coach let the players pick out one of the uniforms, and they picked a black one. I think teenage boys just like black.

CiaraLynn--Welcome. I hope someone comes up with an alternative to cornbread for you. As a good ole southern girl from north GA, cornbread is practically a staple. I love it too, especially with greens with lots of smoked meat in them.
Congratulations on the loss for your first week. Hope you have a great experience with SB. You could try some really great WW bread, toasted with butter. WW bread has its own sweetness. I don’t think you’ll find a really good substitute for cornbread.

Fruit--Great going! Keep it up.

YellowRose--OK, I’ll post the tomato tart on the recipe board tonight.

See ya.

GatorGal 01-30-2003 10:02 PM

YellowRose--I've posted the tomato tart recipe for you, under entrees. Hope you enjoy it.

This has got to be a quick one y'all. My eyes don't want to focus.:dizzy: My eating has been waaay off today, but tomorrow is another day and I will drag myself back on the wagon.

MAEMAE: I'm in Mt. Pleasant and teach in Mt. Vernon. We're between Dallas and Texarkana on I-30.

GRACIOUS: I'm an Avon Lady too!:D I sold years ago before we had the kids and I decided to get into it again. I don't go out of my way to sell. I have a few friends who are regulars and I put out books at school. I've made money every month. Not a lot, but enough to keep me interested. Good luck.

I'll try to get to more of you tomorrow.

TGIF

Hello, all!

It's Friday morning, my day off, so I get to relax a bit and do a post. Sorry I didn't check in last night, but it's the only night we watch tv shows. The only problem was I fell asleep during CSI and totally missed the show that follows. So, that was not the plan. Oh well, Paul told me what happened when I finally woke up at 11:30.

My eating is still going pretty well. Every morning I try to write down what I will eat for breakfast and lunch. This sort of helps me know what I've allotted for that time and keeps me on plan. I have also been eating a fruit snack about 12:15 or so and stretching off my lunch until about1:30 -2. That seems to help me not be sooooo hungry when we get home at night. And I'm not grabbing the first thing I see that's edible. Last night DH opened a bag of Doritoes right when we got home. I wasn't paying any attention and all of a sudden that "Doritoe smell" wafted my way. Whoa! I said, "Well I can't stand here while you eat those." And I went into the kitchen to fix my super salad. So happy my hand didn't automatically reach in the bag.

I made something really good for breakfast yesterday. It was from that Cooking Thin Show. She took 3 egg whites and a serving of Canadian bacon and microwaved that. Then she added a piece of low-fat American cheese and nuked til it was all done. Her suggestion was to eat it on an English muffin. But all I had were some Manny's FF tortillas. (No they are not SB legal, but super low in everything.) It was really pretty good. And since I'm counting WW points too in an effort to corral my portion sizes, the whole breakfast was only 4 points. And I was really full after finishing it. I had always heard to try egg whites, but I had never done it. I've tried the egg substitutes. But they are so expensive in comparison to just a dozen real eggs.

LDBLOND---Thanks for the link to the diet coach site. You'd think we'd get enough coaching around here, but I always like to find another source for inspiration and instruction.

FILLISE---That Belle is a hoot! How funny that you have a ritual-type game. Aren't they neat how they pick up on something and keep it into their daily routine without any prompting form the humans. What exactly do you think THEY think we are? I often wonder who Maddie thinks we are and how she refers to us in her brain talk. Don't beat yourself up about your eating, just get back on the track. Once you get really focused, it will all start to roll into place. Taking one day at a time really helps.

GRACIOUS----Congrats on the 1/2 pound. Hey, any loss is a good loss, right? Those cashews sound delish. I love them, but can't really keep them in the house because the jar would be permanently affixed to my body. Congrats on becoming an AVON lady. What fun for you!!! There is a big building here with the word Avon on the front. Do you know if this is where they are headquartered? Good luck to you. I love their lipsticks and have used their feet products for a long time. That cracked heel stuff really works like a medicine.

DEB---Well, you know how I feel about volunteerism. So glad you decided to do that. How was it? Did you enjoy your time there? I always find that I meet the neatest people while volunteering. Those almonds for $1 is a great buy. Lucky you! I'm not crazy about the new star search, but I would like to see who wins. If I hadn't watched that first night and seen this dynamic little girl sing her heart out, I probably wouldn't have tuned in again. The finals will be next week and that will be over. The modeling category is ridiculous. I think they look pretty stupid (although their bodies are something else!) up there on that runway. I'm waiting to see one of them fall off those 4 inch heels and go running off stage crying. Hasn't happened yet. Now that would boost the ratings! I will email you some info on the people Mom is trying to find. Thanks for the offer to help. Yes, Paul is soooooo happy that I'm back on the board. It's much better for him when I'm focused and postive rather than depressed and eating and gaining. The other night he asked me to figure up the points for a sausage he was eating. Since it had 22 grams of fat, you can imagine that it was very high in points. I'm not nagging him, but I wish he'd start to watch. His solution is to go all day without eating and then come home and eat whatever. I told him this screws up his metabolism, but he's not getting it.

DAWN-----Happy Belated Birthday. Sorry I didn't get to post this on your special day. Hope you had a good one. Any good presents come your way?

MAEMAE----We aren't hear to make you cry, girlfriend. But just as long as they were tears of joy. We like those kind.

JACKK---Boy, you and DEB are sounding exactly alike. She told me to reward myself at 10 pounds too. I like what you said about wanting to do it right this time and not have people thinking that I screwed up again. How many times have my family or friends heard me say I'm going on a diet or I'm really going to do it this time and then I end up fatter? Geesh, at least a zillion times. Well, I'm like you in that I want to show them that I can do it. I also think being able to get to that goal would be a great way to boost my self confidence. I think just below the surface I really feel that I am someone who can't complete things. So that's where all these failed attempts fall into. Knowing that you have had so much success is really helping me see that there can be a light at the end of the tunnel. And it might just be shining on a pair of size 10 jeans!!!!!

HEART----Awesome job on those tapes!!! You are really kicking butt and taking names. And the scale showed just how great you've been doing. It's not lying. It's a machine; how can it lie? Where do you find the Nature's Own Bread? Regular grocery or specialty store? You just made me hungry for chili. I have everything to make it too. Thanks, now I don't have to worry about what's for dinner.

MOM2----Hey, enjoy your trip. Sounds like you've got some kind of stressful stuff planned, but I hope everything around that is good for you. Be sure to plan ahead on your eating BEFORE you leave. Are you going to pack some good yummies for yourself in case you get into a situation where there is nothing but illegal food? I know what you mean about having a hard time after you slip. It's the same for me and a lot of us on this board. That's why each day I just keep praying that my resolve will hold and that I will keep focused on the goals I've set and not let my emotions get the best of me. Keep track of what you eat while you are gone. That might be a good way to stay on track. I'd hate to see you slip after have such good days this week. We are all pulling for you.

Okay, that's it from this end. Think I'll go down and weigh this morning and then get some breakfast. Today I have so many things I want to do. I want to paint a room in our house. So I need to start clearing that out. Then I have some errands to run. Thank goodness, we are supposed to be into the 40s today. A heat wave!!! JACKK, how's the weather down there? Tomorrow we are helping SIL and her new hubby move into their new home. That will be most of the day, but hoping to get a good workout from that. Ha!

Thanks again for all the wonderful things you say and do. You all are the best. Have a GREAT DAY!
Catch you all later.
Kim

Ellen 01-31-2003 07:50 AM

Good Morning! I can hardly believe it is Friday already! I have had an interesting, roller coaster of a week. I am helping a friend prepare for a wedding reception for her son, who got married a few weeks ago in Croatia. In addition, I have been approached about a job at my church, and I am considering the possibilities. I want to make the 'right' decision about it, and I am not sure what that is yet.

Eating has been great, but as usual, weight loss is about non existent. I have been good about getting my treadmill time in this week, but I burned the bottoms of my feet walking barefooted on it, and I am not sure if I am going to be able to walk today. Guess I will try with shoes on.

Here is a Friday Funny:

HOW TO BE ANNOYING

1. At lunch time, sit in your parked car with sunglasses on and point a hair dryer at passing cars. See if they slow down.

2. Page yourself over the intercom. Don't disguise your voice.

3. Every time someone asks you to do something, ask if they want fries with that.

4. Put your garbage can on your desk and label it "in"

5. Put decaf in the coffee maker for 3 weeks. Once everyone has Gotten over their caffeine addictions, switch to espresso.

6. In the memo field of all your checks, write "for sensual massage".

7. Finish all your sentences with "in accordance with the prophecy."

8. Don't use any punctuation marks

9. As often as possible, skip rather than walk.

10. Ask people what sex they are. Laugh hysterically after they answer.

11. Specify that your drive-through order is "to go".

12. Sing along at the opera.

13. Go to a poetry recital and ask why the poems don't rhyme.

14. Put mosquito netting around your work area. Play a tape of jungle sounds all day.

15. Five days in advance, tell your friends you can't attend their party because you're not in the mood.

16. Have your coworkers address you by your wrestling name, Rock Hard Kim.

17. When the money comes out the ATM, scream "I won!", "I won!" "3rd time this week!!!!!"

18. When leaving the zoo, start running towards the parking lot, yelling "run for your lives, they're loose!!"

19. Tell your children over dinner. "due to the economy, we are going to have to let one of you go."

20. Follow someone around with a can of disinfectant spray, spraying everything they touch.

21. When driving with someone in your car, run the windshield wipers all the time, to 'keep them warmed up'.

22. Shout out random numbers when someone is counting outloud.
