GO AHEAD ANYWAY
If you let disappointment stop you, you'll make its pain a permanent, negative part of your life. When you choose instead to persist, and to move ahead, with each new step the disappointment becomes smaller, and the pain quickly fades away.
Yes, you could put disappointment behind you by letting it turn you back, by allowing it to stop you in your tracks. But if you do, that disappointment will always be there to exert its pain and regret. Instead, put the disappointment behind you by moving on through it and then beyond it. And with your persistence you will get completely past the pain of that disappointment.
Persistence requires no special skill, just the willingness and commitment to always take the next step. Though the disappointments will certainly come, persistence is the surest and quickest way to get past them.
Look behind every achievement and you will always find persistence. When you're so disappointed you feel you can't go on, that is indeed when you'll gain the very most by pushing ahead anyway.
If the pain of disappointment has come, then you've already paid the price. That's the time to move on ahead with persistence, to where you can surely reap the reward.
-- Ralph Marston
************** What battle are you engaged in with yourself? Are you having a hard time going for your dream because you don't believe that you will succeed? Because you cannot see yourself obtaining your heart's desire? It's hard to move forward when you keep pulling yourself backwards. Namely, when you keep falling into the same old self-defeating patterns that take you in the opposite direction of your goals. How can you end this battle between what you want and what you think you deserve? By confronting those beliefs that are keeping you from your happiness. Examine these limiting beliefs and commit to proving them false by taking active steps towards your dreams.

GOOD MORNING ALL YOU FIGHTERS OF FAT, YOU EMBRACERS OF GOOD HEALTH!!!!
Now how's that for an early Monday morning greeting. My motivational thought continues to be those LARGE pictures of me from Christmas. Everytime I think about them I cringe and want to jump on the treadmill. Not very though provoking for you all, but it's working for this 1FC.
Hey, just wanted to let those who asked know that I posted one picture of some of the jewelry I've made over the past month. Some I've already given away. I need to start taking pictures of everything BEFORE giving it to someone. Anyways, that gives you an picture of what I'm doing. DEB, thanks for the offer of some of your old supplies. I'm not sure if I'll need any of them. Perhaps the next time we talk, we can get into more details about what you have.
Okay, must dress. Cannot face the world in this ratty old robe. No way. Definitely not a dress for success look. If you know what I mean.
Good Monday morning everyone.. Kind of glad the week-end is over and the week has begun. Since my DH is doing SB with me now I tried to make it special by making things he liked. I made Debilli's cheesecake and last night we had cheese burgers made with legal whole wheat hamburger buns. Yummy good. Saturday night I made shrimp fried rice. We're a little more strick on the week-days. No carbs at night. We can only get out of here in a four wheel drive. We have a long hill (about 1 mile) to go up before we get to the highway. So I'm stuck at home till it thaws a bit. Hope that is in the next day or two. I'm sure needing to go grocery shopping. My husband uses our four wheel drive to go to work. This is really stupid for someone whos been here for so long but I forgot how to get to the pictures...
The Quilter- I can't wait to see your jewlery. I'm going hunting after I leave here.
Debilli- Thank you for the message. Thats one of the hardest parts of losing weight is the disappointment. When you don't lose like you think you should. Or in yourself for not doing as well as you could have.
Guess I'll check back later when more have posted...
The Quilter- Oh my gosh I found the album and your jewlery is wonderful... I love the necklace that looks like it has a turquoise ball on the end of it... You're great!!!!
It is snowing here again. I can't even tell how much snow has accumulated on the ground since Christmas because the wind blows so hard it moves it around. The kids have dug a hole in the snow on the front yard and all three of them can be in it and disappear from sight so there is quite a bit!
I had a really fun weekend away at the retreat with the two girls I brought. The worship band was way too charismatic for me and my girls though. I prefer real worship music that draws you to Christ rather than shallow hopping around and acting like 10 year olds, but hey, that is just me! When I see 40 somethings acting like 10 year olds it tends to send alarms off for me. The food was fantabulous though. One of the highlights of the weekend. I also had TOM arrive on Sunday so the scale was not kind upon my return. However, I am riding the wagon hard now and will be back to *normal* soon, I am sure. We did have a wonderful QUILTING workshop and I made my very first LOG CABIN square. It was so easy and beautiful that I am truly hooked. I am definitely going to make quilting a major hobby in my life. The ladies brought gorgeous quilts for us to see that I understand now why they say it is so addicting.
QUILTER- I am off to see the photo you posted too.
TONI- Hiya! How wonderful that your hubby is SB'ing with you and you can enjoy such healthy meals together. You sound like you are in a winter wonderland like us!
It's going to be warmer today--all the way up to 48 degrees (f)! You know it's bad when you are excited that it is in the 40s. Where oh where is that January thaw????????
For all of those rooting for the Bucs--Congrats!
This week is organizational week for me. Now that elections and inaugural are finally over it is time to go through all the files and weed out and get everything put away. I will spend most of the day shredding!
I also need to go grocery shopping to stock up on good food for the week. No excuses now!
Toni--Hope you can get out before the cabin fever gets too bad! Good for you fixing those nurtitious meals for hubby!
Kim--I'm going to head over to look at your jewlry!
Diet Coaches - You Can Do It ! - Strengthening Your Willpower
Dear Dieting Friends
I hope this finds you each thrilled over your weight loss success and committed to continuing the journey. You can lose weight and keep it off permanently. The history of yo-yo dieting doesn't have to repeat itself. This can be the last diet you are ever on, the choice is yours. Are you willing to change those overeating behaviors?
Why is it that we cling to our old eating behaviors like we're never going to eat again? Why is it so hard for us to give up those old ways? Why is it so easy for us to slip back into those patterns when a trigger event happens?
It's because those patterns are well established within us. They can still be broken and overcome but only if we practice at it.
If one doesn't work a muscle for a long time the muscle becomes flabby. It can't handle lifting certain weights. It's the same with our will power. If we don't exercise saying "no" to extra servings, large portions and overeating our will power is also flabby and ineffective. We have to strengthen our will power and it takes exercising our will power for it to become stronger and stronger.
Just like you start with a small number of reps to build or tone a muscle group start with little willpower reps also. Say 'no' to a few things each day. Take one meal a day and commit to eating small portions and slowly, eventually building up to eating small portions and slowly at all your meals.
Give up one snack a day and then give up more and more snacking. Learn to be satisfied with one bite size candy bar rather than a whole large candy bar. Learn to be satisified with a regular size burger and give up the Whopper burger. Learn that fruit is a healthy between meal choice and only eat fruits or veggies between meals. As you exercise your willpower it grows and grows and saying 'no' becomes easier. We need to keep exercising our will power after the weight is off so we don't regain that unwanted weight also. Being thin is a lifetime commitment. Are you ready and willing to change those overeating behaviors for the rest of your life? You won't be deprived you'll be thrilled. You will still experience moments of 'food pleasure' but they'll be moments and not your entire way of life. You can do it.
Exercise your will power today. You need to exercise it in order for it to be strong. Put it to work today, put it to work several times today, work it hard, friends, make it strong and your weight will become less and less. You can do it!
Can't believe the morning is gone already. I just got home from doing my 4.5 miles. Yes, you read correctly, I actually got my butt out and pounded the pavement. My feet didn't know whether to be happy or want to kick me in the rear. I waited to go til it got a little warmer AND for the winds to die down. It sure got warmer but the winds are really kicking out there today. I was surprised it only took me 53:21, I swear I thought I'd be almost an hour today. It wasn't easy to do and I can feel the effects of not doing any exercise in over 3 weeks - exclusing the marathon. I'm going to try and get in at least 4 days a week this week. I almost didn't get out there but now that I've gone and come back, I'm glad
I keep forgetting to mention something some of us spoke about at the SB GET TOGETHER. Wanted to get your opinions of what you thought about this idea. The way we had the old recipe boards, doing it quarterly, was a great idea, but many people asked that we do it the new way so it would be categorized and people could just find, say desserts, all in one area. BUT, with these changes, I see that we aren't really getting many recipes posted like we use to and that it's harder to find the new recipes. What do you think about doing both? I would make a quarterly recipe board and all recipes could be posted there and then a copy would be put on the recipe boards that are broken down by category. Any thoughts???
I have to get out of the house in a little bit. Have to run by the library to return 2 movies and a book and p/u a movie. We saw REQUIEM FOR A DREAM and at first it seemed like I wasn't going to like it, but boy, it was a pretty darned good movie. We have so many taken out from the library I haven't had time to see them yet and keep having to renew them. Today I'm picking up PULP FICTION. Then I have to go to the kids school to make copies of my volunteer forms.
Wanted to get in a few replies before I have to skiddadle...
BKM, forgot to tell you THANK YOU for the e-card you sent to Lauren!
MELF, I will most definitely tell LAUREN you sent her belated wishes.
JACKK, I think if I can somehow learn how to get right back on plan when I want to eat something off plan once in a while it would be a major breakthrough. I truly do think it's that taste of sugar that just puts me in a tailspin and makes me want and crave more and more until I get absolutely sick of overeating and overeating garbage. I use to be able to eat just one piece of chocolate and now, it's one bar-where did that control go? It's always been either all or nothing with me. I wonder if this is something that can be changed?shrug: Don't worry about that pizza, we both know that once in a blue moon thing I mentioned and as said above, get right back on track and you shouldn't have any problems
SEF, who said you were old? Lord knows that I'm not old by todays standards and even I can't remember half the crap you do! Me amaze you??? Aren't you amazed with yourself, I sure am! I really and honestly do marvel in all you do!!!!
FILLISE, hope you had fun at your Super Bowl Party!!!
BOB, did you hear them celebrating in TB? How are you feeling today? Back at work?
ACW, I've gotten wonderful things at garage sales. Funny, I just never thought about garage sales in other countries, besides Canada. Sounds like you'll be busy restoring the doll house, but what fun that should be!
MOMOF3REDS, Glad you've decided to join us! What's taken you so long to take the plunge and come and join our group? I had to laugh when you said I have every excuse in the book and the next volume for why I allowed myself to gain the weight back I think us "dieters" could fill up the Library of Congress with our volumes. How long ago did you lose the 25lbs? How much would you like to lose?
QUILTER, love the jewelry. Would love to see a few close-ups of the details. What are you using as far as metal? I mean, I take it you aren't using gold findings. I think you need to have Paul take a picture of YOU modeling one of your original pieces and post it on the board!!!!
TONI, did you make or buy the ww buns? You should post a picture of the area you live in, it just sounds so pretty, I'd love to see it. Heck, you should post a picture of yourself-it sure would be nice to put a name and a face together
GRACIOUS, would you be so kind to keep your artic winds up in Canada? I mean, all the Canadians come to SOFLA to get away from the cold, snow and wind! We'd all be so grateful Loved the word FANTABULOUS! Glad to see you had a great time this weekend. So we've now got another quilter on the board, I see!
LDBLOND, thanks for posting that article from Diet Coach as part of MM! How are you feeling???
MAE, what's happening with the interview at the college you mentioned last time you posted?
WOW! Can't believe, it's 1pm already. Have to go jump in the shower. Will try to wiggle my way on to the board later today/tonight.
Have a wonderful day everybody!

Afternoon y'all. Well, it's Monday again and I was not ready to get up this morning. I stayed up for the game, of course. Not so much to see the game as to catch the commercials. Dennis said I missed some good ones while I was at church tho. Anyway, my eating was not horrible over the weekend, but definitely not OP. Took Dennis out for his birthday. I made the mistake of not eating lunch and was starving when we got to the mexican food rest. So....guess who dived into the chips? Then I indulged in some sweets yesterday during the game. I'm back on the wagon now tho. I've even gotten my two miles in today.
OK. I'm headed off to look at Quilter's jewelry. I'll Check in later.
Deb- Thanks for asking. My interview is tomorrow at 10:00. I found out Friday that they wanted to finally set up the interview. Friday was a sad day for me. A good friend was killed on Sunday Jan 19 (he was a volunteer fireman in Porter, Tx) he left behind a 8 year old daughter. When I got home that is when I found out about the interview. It was a light in the darkness.
Deb were you ever able to download the pics I sent to you?
I read the posts this morning then had to run out to a meeting at Churchill Downs and it lasted until after lunch. I missed breakfast and my snack and 1/2 my lunch hour. I wasn't even really hungry when I got back. But boy was I cold. I still haven't thawed out.
So now I am caught up and ready to post.
Hope everyone is ready to start out this SB week on a great note.
We stayed at the party until the end of the SB last nite. I'm glad Bucs won. DH was pulling for Oakland.
BOb, Glad you are "painless" at present. Hope it continues. I bet you were a hoot in a gay bar.
Sef, Hope your fee got a good rest. Sounded like they needed one. I thought the Dixie Chicks were good also and Celine is my all time favorite anyway.
Fillisie, Hope you are feeling better today.
Mom of 3 reds, Welcome. IF you have done this before then you know it works. Glad you decided to join our board. Good luck.
Quilter, I'm glad those pics are still motivating you. Keep up the good work.
Toni, Did you al lget alot more snow? We only got flurries and about 1/2" on the ground. Keep your I think it is supposed to warm up by Wed.
Gracious, glad you enjoyed your retreat. My girls used to come home so sweet and religious after them. Never lasted long though. I would love to go on one one day. I know what you mean about the music. Some of it doesn't even sound like church music. This board is going to be full of quilters.
Fillise, The word pollitics and shredding together makes me wonder.
Idblond, Oooh I liked that MM. It was so true and I could actually say that I have done a couple of those things and that made me feel good. Thanks for posting it.
Maemae, Hope you are having a great sb day. Loved the note about your DS praying for Boogie. How sweet. Sorry about your friend. How sad. Good luck on the interview.
Deb, Loved the MM on dissapointment. I didn't know you could get movies at the library. Shows how long it's been since I visited one. So proud of you getting out there walking toay. Back to routine feels good. I'm always glad I went out after I'm finished. On the recipe boards, that seems to be a lot of work for you to have to copy them each qtr. Do what you think is best though. I'm sure the more you jump right back on plan the sooner it will become a natural thing. Not that you should eat off plan alot to get back on, but... oh well you know what I mean. It just takes doing things several times to make it a habit. It's those old habits we have to break. I think making a conscience effort while you are off plan to go right back on plan is a big step. Does any of that makes any sense??
Music, the most important thing is that you are back OP today and going strong.
Need to get started on my day here. Glad I have a pot of chili made for dinner.
