BOB!!!!!!!!!! LOL, I love your Smiley's Etc! You have to tell me where you found these b/c I will copy you! That is the highest form of flattery you know! Most entertaining post I have ever read~! Can you tell I thrive on Emotion/Color? I don't watch ****'s Kitchen, that Chef scares the **** out of me on the promo's but I love American Idol...go figure! ~Peggy
Thanks for the reply Peggy & GymRat, it is comforting to know someone is out there.
Have gone through the Sugar Buster! and SugarBuster Recipe books and think I'm really going to enjoy this life change. I refuse to call it a diet, I've been on a million of them and I'm still fat! I think eating this way it the way to go.
I have a friend who is a sugar addict and as soon as she cut out the sugar and white flour she dropped the weight and has maintained for years. She knows that if she starts she can't stop so she chooses to abstain altogether. With all the allergies out now it would be easy to say "Sorry, no thanks I have a food allergy" and then people won't feel the need to make you fall off your diet (Come on, just have one) and keep hounding you.
Last night I started out right with the spinach lasagna recipe from the cookbook. Loved it!! I actually made my own sauce with ex lean hamburger and lots of vegies so I can use it for spaghetti sauce too. I forgot to put the 2 eggs in so it was a little runny but the taste was great. Now I have 7 servings of lasagna and 4 of sauce in the freezer for quick meal nights.
Today was toast and allfruit spread breaki and a salad with grilled garlic/lemon shrimp for lunch. Dinner came and I wasn't very hungry so just had a slice of toast with spread and a glass of milk.
When I was making lunch I was thinking this is just a fast as going through the drive-thru or getting take out - it took all of 8 minutes from frozen shrimp to meal on the table.
I think a big part of this journey will be retraining myself. I'm single and it's easy to say "Oh, it's just me" and grab something easy. I have to learn that I am worth the effort and spend the time on myself.
Well that's enough of me blabbing on.
Penny - how's Hawaii sound for our birthdays? :-)
GymRat - from your picture I think you are adorable now, what a knock out you're going to be
BOB - I think you sound like alot of fun
Ellen, and everyone else, I'm glad to be here and take the journey with you
Hi everyone! I'm a night owl and can't sleep so I am finally getting time to post again. It's good to hear that others have struggles with their weight loss like I do.
I am finally getting rid of that d*!# chocolate I had in the house. It is just too tempting.
I am trying new SB recipes -- I love pizza. Took a 90 cal WW flatbread and put on my Pamp Chef stone. Added pizza sauce, lean cooked ground beef that I added spices to, pepperoni, thinly sliced onion. Baked at 400 for about 8 min, then took out and added LF Mozz cheese and baked another 3 or 4 min. It was delicious. My husband liked it also.
I went to the mall again yesterday and walked for 20 min early before the stores opened. I enjoyed all the store windows to look at and made the time go fast. I am meeting a friend again Fri for another walk. I really need to get into the habit of walking again. I have an elliptical machine in my basement, but am too out of shape to even stay on for more than 5 min.
I am learning to like fruit again, but still need to incorporate more veggies into my day. Anyone have any good ideas for veggie side dishes with your meal.
Bob - I too have trouble with hot flashes for years and was unable to take hormones. I had a sister die of a blood clot. I have opted to tough it out without them. Have you tried any natural remedies at the health store.
I have Bible study at the church this morning. I was scheduled to facilitate the discussion AND bring refreshements. I am taking ww cinnamon rolls. They are not totally Sugarbuster friendly, but more healthy than regular. I use less sugar, and I even used the 'organic' sugar, though it makes little difference in glycemic index. Sugar is sugar... I may eat one. Any leftovers I promised to one of the young women who come. She asked me to make these, since she had them at a shower I did a few weeks ago. And of course I said sure!
After the study, I need to stop in at the ceramic supply place and get a few chemicals to mix glazes with.
I will check back when I get home.
155: Glad to have you join us! Sugarbusters is one of those plans you can do for life...it is just healthy and sensible! Let us know if you have any questions. I am looking forward to getting to know you.
Every time I tried to make to the board since Monday something has come up..err
Welcome Peggy and 155. Peggy we found a fish that doesn't taste fishy..tuna steaks. Oh my gosh, they are SO good. A little balsamic vinegar, seasoning and bit of olive oil then grilled. It cooks so fast and actually taste like meat. It even passed my picky step dad test..LOL
155....LOVE LOVE LOVE the food allergy excuse.
Gym..hang in there. The next ten days will help a lot with getting back on track without sneaks. The only reason I'm not sneaking is because I'm so afraid of having to take medicine if I don't get my cholesterol down. You asked about pants size, I'm an 11/12 right now. I do have a coupld of 10's but they are on the stretchy side. I'll be this size until I loss about 10 more pounds. Because I'm 5' 7" I can lose 15 to 20 pounds before I go down a pants size.
Mari...WTG getting in the walking.
Toni and Chris...WOO Hoo on your weight loss this week.
Solly...((hugzz))
Bob....I'll be sure to call. No one around here likes to help harvast, only eat it. Because we finally got some rain most of the things I put in are starting to break the ground. Hopefully this weekend I'll get the last of it in. I still have some purple hulls, and scallop squash to put in. I may add another row or two of greenbeans and zuchini depending on how many rows are left out there. Hopefully my mom will grow some tomatos since they don't do well in my soil. I was gonna grow some in pots but didn't get a chance to get the soil needed.
Monet...I hope you have a great study this morning.
Guess I'd better get moving. The whole house should be waking up any minute. Jess is already awake. He usually wakes up first.
Good morning ladies. We're getting the rain again. You can look out the front door window and see the river is up. I did really well on my dinner last night and had salmon baked, salad and green beans. It was so good. Hopefully today I'll hit the treadmill again. I've just got to make that a habit....
Gym- good girl for working out. I have two or three cups of green tea in the afternoon. Its a real pick me up.
Bob- You sound busy gal. Glad you had a better day.
Peggy- ****'s kitchen is so good. I love that show...
155- The spinach lasagna sounds so good. And I love to have leftovers in the freezer. Good going!!! You're sure on the right track.
Mari- Man that pizza sounds yummy. Wish I could get ww flatbread around here. I'll have to look somemore. We're going to super Wal Mart this week end.
Ellen- Have fun at the bible study.
Crystle- Wow its not even time to put those things out in a garden here yet. It would get frost bit for sure. I'm dying to plant though. I put tomatoes in a big pot on the front porch and they do so good.
Solly- A big howdy.......
Going to go have a bit more coffee. Have a great day......
Hey Everyone..Just saying a quick hello. I'll do personal replys later. I have to go bring my cat to the vet. He is sick and I have no idea what is wrong with him. He's almost 10 so that limits my optimism that its just something minor.
Funny, this cat has been a thorn in my side and a constant trouble maker since I got him. I bout with the dryer and a surgury to remove thread from his stomach. All before the age of 2. He since still has done nothing but cause trouble. I still want him to be ok. I am not ready to put him down, but financially I can't afford to do much for him.. So Im crossing my fingers it's just a bug or something quick they can fix. Can you all do the same. Thanks.
HeartMom.....And here I was thinking you meant Alabama! Did I read the scale right and that you have lost 128 HeartMom? If so how long did it take you and did you do it on SugarBusters? That is amazing to think about and I am sure it took a lot of hard work! And if that is your picture (the lady with the long red hair) I have to tell you when I saw it I thought "Yeah ...like she has EVER been fat!" To all other Boarders.....I hope to get all of your names straight soon! ~Peggy
We were really busy today. Now that all the Snowbirds are going home, all the locals will be coming to get their bones fixed!
There's a storm on the horizon, so I'm expecting something sometime tonight.
I won't fuss about it, we'll be needing the wet stuff. Hurricane season is almost here again and of course, I'm not ready yet. I've got to get my box ready and shop for everything we'll need.
PEGGY...My smileys come from bestsmileys....have at em...there are some really cute ones on there.
I'll be glad when all the TV shows get back on the tube. I've missed my shows.
LAURIE...That's cute. How are the kids?
TONI...hope that rain slows down over your way. As for the pizzas, I use pita bread and sugarfree pizza sauce. I know WALMART has those and I'm sure you can get the WW there.
GYM...Fingers crossed for your cat. How old is the little furball?
CRYSTLE...I love purple hulls. Of course, I love anything that comes out of the garden. This soil down here is terrible. Too much sand. Tomatoes grow good in tubs though. You might try that.
MARI...I have tried the natural stuff and it doesn't work for me. I'm just doomed I think. What do you use?
155....I'm so glad you decided to join us. Welcome....we do have a lot of fun here on this board. Just wait until football season!!
MONET...How was your day?
WHERE'S JACKIE????
I'm off to take the garbage to the curb. I'll talk to y'all tomorrow.
Thanks for the warm welcome here. Thinkin' I'm gonna like it here.
Well got through another day and for some reason this doesn't even feel like a diet, it really is more of a life change. Choosing to eat what is good for me and finding out it tastes great. What a treat!
Had lunch out with my stepfather and the restaurant had a salad to die for, grilled chicken on a salad of spinach, greens, red pepper, celery, red grapes and roasted cashews. Dressing on the side (of course) was a balsanic vinegar/oil blend. Really excellent, think I'll try it at home.
Tonight was chicken cordon with wild/brown rice and green beans. Tasted great too. I think it has alot to do with spring/summer coming. I always gravitate towards lighter meals when it's warmer outside and want the heavy comfort foods when it's cold.
GymRat hope your kitty is okay, even though I have 3 dogs I still miss my big old cat who passed away couple years ago. A dog just can't give you the kind of hugs a kitty can. My one dog Harry HaHa tries but it's just not the same.
Heartmom, that's amazing that you have lost that much weight, you look gorgeous in your picture. Question: Did all your skin snap back into place? I'm really worried about all the loose skin because I have been heavy for so long. Think all the elasticity in my skin may be gone.
CountryMom-I agree about the tuna, love the stuff. Also try Mahi Mahi, another great white fish that's got lots of flavour and really low calories.
Toni- When I get a little organized I'll post the recipe for that lasagna, I'm with you I like having stuff in the freezer for easy meals.
Ellen-I'm looking forward to getting to know you and everyone here as well, seems like a wonderful group.
Peggy: What day in December? Mine's 19th.
Bob-What can I say, I have the same "Big Girl Panties" saying taped to my computer at work! ;-0
So as it turns out my cat Tigger is probably going to be fine. Nothing was blocked, so for right now the vet thinks it was the change in food that upset his stomach. They gave him an iv and a dose of pepcid, charged me way to much money and said to keep and eye on him for a few days. So Im hoping thats all it will be.
Since this week was TOM and I didn't do well this weekend, I decided to skip the scale until next week. All the crap food is gone and We went food shopping yesterday. I only have healthy food and stuff to cook. I have a great feeling about the next 10 days. I got through 2 days, and even went to dinner last night and did great. No bread, chips or anything bad. Had plain salad, and Chicken scampi with broc. My sister and her best friend left for the Caribbean this am, so I have been awake since 4. Thanks goodness for coffee.
155-Im glad your doing great. Getting through one day at a time is all you can do. Awesome job! Thanks for the kind words about my cat. I agree with you earlier post about cooking and making the effort just you. I was never one to cook, but since starting SB, I cook so much more. granted its nothing too wild, but for me it was a start. Good for you!
BOB-Thanks so far he's doing ok. Eating again. Always a good sign. We have rain today too. It was such a spring day yesterday..I dislike rain so much!
Toni-Awesome job on the treadmill and good food yesterday. Keep it up and it will become a habit. Whoo. Green tea is so good for you, I just don't always remember to make it anymore.
Crystal-Thanks for sharing your pants size. You are a little taller, but I am about a 12. They fit good, but still are a smidge snug. If I could get down to the 160's im sure theyd be much better. My goal would be an 8. Just to be in single digits would be amazing.
Ellen-How did you do with the cinnamon rolls? I don't think I could just have one...Hope the church meeting went well either way!
mari-Great idea walking the mall before it opens. I see people all the time doing that, though to be honest the stores distract me. Id keep trying the elliptical machine even if it is only for 5 min. After a week try for 6 min. Eventually you'll start getting into better shape and it will be easier. Good luck.
Ok Im off to watch the news with my coffee. Everyone have a great day, sorry If I missed anyone, it's early.
Morning! I meant to get back here yesterday and I never did. I ended up in the garagio last night trimming and decorating a couple bowls. I need to pull handles on a bunch of mugs, but that is going to have to wait for this afternoon. I intend to go to Water Aerobics this morning, then to meet Tom for lunch. THEN I will have time for the garagio.
The cinnamon rolls turned out the best ever...and I did eat more than one. I sent the leftovers home with the young woman who asked me to make them. She and her husband are both tall and skinny....
I need to go suit up for water aerobics. I will try and check in later!
