Hi, my name is Shannon and I'm a Star Trek junkie...
And Buffy... and Babylon 5... and Dune... and The Dead Zone (all incarnations)... and Star Wars... and Heros (though I lost most of last season in a horrible DVR accident), and Marvel comics... and many many more... I'm a total geek...
So, I'm totally psyched for the next Trek movie coming out next year - for one, I love Trek, for another I love J.J. Abrams, so for me it is a win-win. I'm a little unsure as to how the whole 'prequel' thing is going to work - SW Episodes 1-3 showed us that concept can be a little hard for some people, after all... but, I'm still psyched... I'm digging Zachery Quinto as the young Spock...
Alright... anyone other Trek geeks out there? Or, other sci-fi geeks?
(I'm also into Harry Potter (books and films - I showed up at my local B&N at the crack of dawn to buy the last three books, saw the movies on opening nights on IMAX), Charmed, Anita Blake, things in that genre as well. I'm pretty multifaceted in my geekiness -
I'm so nerdy that a recent thread here on vampire romances got me inspired to pull out my werewolf novel and start working on it
(I also bought and checked out some werewolf romance and chicklit novels for inspiration, like Moon Called, Kitty Takes a Holiday, Howling at the Moon, Confessions of a Werewolf Supermodel, Tantalize, and Bitten.)
Nerds and Sci Fi Geekettes unite! (anyone RenFair fans as well .. or gamers, former gamers or SO's of gamers or former gamers).
Loooove start trek.
I also got to hug Chewbacca from Star Wars once at a convention. (he's so sweet!!)
My DH got me into stargate, buffy the vampire slayer, firefly (basically anything Joss Whedon does, lol).
I've actually told my DH to "talk nerdy to me"....Yay for nerds, dweebs, dorks, and geeks!
Oh, and while I love Buffy, I can't stand Angel (he's too depressed. I know being a vampire sucks, but NO ONE has to be that big of a bummer all the time). However, I did start watching Angel when Spike was on it (and I love that he was such a nerd when he was human).
Colleen - I tried to convince my fiancee that we should be married at a RenFaire... he, unfortunately, would have none of that. (I believe it's because I said the words "tights" and "non-negotiable" when I was pitching the idea, though...)
Yeah, my hubby wouldn't have gone for tights either. I didn't intend my dress to be "renny" but I've had so many people ask me if I had a ren themed wedding... it had a square neckline and empire waist, and "buttefly" lace sleeves billowing at the elbow.
Star Trek... Joss??? WHOA! I'm on the right thread! I grew up on Star Trek, I love SciFi, and I even play WarHammer 40K on weekends (sort of like D&D). I have also played Vampire as LARP...
I saw the pictures you posted of your wedding a little while back, it definitely had a Ren-esque feel to it. (And you looked radiant wearing it as well!)
