Panic at the pumps, again.....
I had to get out of the office to go buy a new phone wallago and you should SEE the service stations in my town! Yeowza! Cars are lined up 5 or 6 deep at every pump in town, no exaggeration!
The rumor in these parts is that gas is going to be in short supply after Ike because of refineraries shutting down, and the stations that DO have gas will have $5.00/gallon price stickers for regular unleaded.
Glad I filled up last night.......

OMG I had NO idea gas was going up today, so last night I went to get gas and there was like a thousand people there...I was like WTF?... People were filling up gas jugs. I was so confused, I thought gas was going out of style or something, and it was 123 per L. Not that great. Then the gas guy tells me it's going up to 140 per L tomorrow morning.
Yup, I filled it.

You're like me. When I drove by Kroger there were cars out to the road, at every pumping area. I thought, "Hmmmm, Kroger must be running some kind of special on their gas." Duh. I drove on down to my local Sam's Club (there were NO cars), filled up and went on my merry way.

This happens every time there is a storm or a major disaster. I was raised in AR and I can remember Katrina, 9/11, and any other time there is a major thing. People start freaking out and they jack the prices up. It's really not that big deal. It will go down in a day. I swear people just start freaking out... lol It's kinda funny. It's like one person starts it and everyone follows. Trust me it will be fine in a couple of days, maybe by tomorrow.
I remember at 9/11, I was working in Springdale and a lot of the gas stations got in trouble for jacking up the prices and they had to refund the money to the customers that complained. They didn't refund the whole money just the difference of the jacked up prices.

No kidding. Good grief people are like lemmings!!!!
Now it's time for all the toilet paper, bread, milk, and beer to disappear from the grocery store shelves too.
You'd think the TX Gulf Coast had never been hit by a hurricane before.

Arkansas slang for "awhile ago." I swear I was 10-years-old or so before I knew it wasn't a real word.

Aint that the truth! I forgot about that. I'm going to AR for Christmas and looking forward to it, but not all the coldness and icyness. Thank God my momma still has my winter coat. hmmmmm I wonder if it will be too big? that's a good thought.

I said it first to see how it felt on my tongue. I was born in Blytheville,AR, 90 miles west of Memphis TN, and I grew up listening to the twang from thair (as in hair).
It made sense once I said (sed) it.....
PS I took Linguistics in college and it was so much fun to study regional dialects.... we all got one....some of us just don't know it!

Raised in NC, lived in TX for years - I always liked "carry" for "drive" as in:
"I'm gonna carry momma to the store."
