Frouf, you REALLY need to stop talking about rain! I'm about to melt into the floor here -- it's going above 100 today -- and so I'm about to hop a plane and come up there for the weekend!
I made an appointment for the doctor this afternoon. All I know to tell him is that I feel bad, and he'll have to take it from there. I got three teabags of something called Calli tea from a man at work and am drinking the first, then will drink the other two on Saturday and Sunday and by Monday, he is bringing me my own supply. (He is a distributor for it.) Whatever it is, he drinks it and so I'm sure it works. This guy is 70 and has more energy than any other 10 people put together, is in great shape and it's not from being at the gym all the time. He's a former helicopter pilot who was in Vietnam and was exposed to Agent Orange. He had a lot of issues from it about 20 years ago and started this tea then, and was able to get off of all the medicines that the military doctors had put him on. Anyway, enough about that. I'm drinking the tea. I'm also going to concentrate on fresh fruits and vegetables over the weekend, so that means a trip to the farmer's market either today or tomorrow morning. If I go to Tyler, I am going to talk my mom into going to the blueberry fields so we can pick. We used to do that every year when my sister was alive and had fresh blueberries for weeks, then frozen berries for the rest of the year. Gotta work for a few more minutes, then will leave. I'll be back after the dr. |
Good luck at dr's office - we await your report.
And what is cami tea anyways? What is in it and where does one get it? (I could sure use some energy!). Come on over if you want a whole weekend of rain - we can certainly keep you damp! ha ha ha One of those busy rushing kind of days - meetings running late - but dh showed up around lunchtime (well parked outside on his way home from dr appt) and called me to invite me to lunch (I was stuck in an 11 am meeting which only started at 11:20!) - but we did hook up and went out for lunch (altho I did have to hurry back for 1:30 meeting). Went down the street to a thai place (Saundra: Anna's thai bistro) - was yummy and spicy and we shared a lovely mango ice cream for dessert! It is drizzling still (sorry Kathy) and I have given up on my hair (esp since gong out for lunch w/no umbrella) - guess dd will be dancing in the rain? |
Hey Chicks! I haven't posted since Wednesday night partially because I've been really busy but mostly because I was thought I was babbling too much.
Angela, you look beautiful! I had no idea that was your natural color. I'm one of the girlies paying for that color. It looks shiny and SO healthy. Great job. Sandra, I agree that meetings are essential. I'm going back on Monday come **** or high scale. I hope you're having a great time at the Olympics! Saundra/Niki, I didn't see the Dateline episode but I'm sure it would have sickened me. Makes it scarey to "trust" sometimes. Saundra, I hope it stopped raining. It's cold here and will be for the next few days. Frouf, that's so awful to learn that you are lactose intolerant. I would be truly sad without my dairy. You know that I AM the daughter of a milkman. Insert joke here! I'm glad both DS are making you so proud. You watch, though, you and Emily will be thick as thieves one day! Rose, have fun at the lake! We'll miss your positive spirit. Paula, I hope you and Craig find a meeting that you can both attend. It does make such a difference for me. You made me crave cherries. I can't wait to get some! Patti, I still have the discomfort but it's not constant like it was before. I think stress has a bit do do with it. It was kind of you to ask. Kathy, I was dying to hear aboutt the reveal! I'm so glad that they enjoyed it. It was a beautiful and kind thing to do. It's horrible that you don't feel well. There is nothing more important than our health be it physical or mental. Melissa, I've been reading, just not posting. I'm sad to hear about your step Dad. I don't have any great advice beyond maybe your making the first step and ignoring all their passive aggresive behavior. Life is just too darned short. So invite them when it is convenient for you and if they come, they come. I don't know them but I do "know" you. It would be their loss if they didn't make time to be in your lives. Well, Pool Guy is here so I gotta run. Vision filter is broken and Jim and I need to go buy a new one to the tune of $170. Harumpf. |
Vickie, you never babble too much. We're really good listeners here.
Frouf, I don't know what your girls are going to do tonight. I can hear the rain coming down pretty hard. :( Got my vacuum fixed ($25.00). It works like a charm. Why didn't I do that before buying another one? Oh well, people have made worse mistakes. Guess I'll look and see what I can have for dinner. BBL |
Good evening! Here's my report:
Left work at 2:30 and went straight to the doctor. I got out about 3:30. Paid house payment at local bank (found the envelope in my purse -- yikes!) Got my oil changed and state inspection Went to Walmart and got trailmixes for my dad, a card, and a WM gift card Went to the farmer's market and got green beans, squash, purple hull peas, plums, blueberries, and onions Then came home. The doctor says I absolutely have to reduce my stress or else. Now what does that mean? He gave me another Rx for Wellbutrin and said this time, take it! Last time I was prescribed, I took it for a month and didn't do the refills because it was the mail-in Rx and I didn't want to bother. He said don't do that. We are going to Tyler in the morning for the day, and so tonight is hopefully low-key. I wanted to go tonight and stay in a hotel, but this little crappy place near them is $180 for one night and doesn't take pets. (We can't go unless we take Zuki.) So it looks like we'll just leave early in the morning. Vickie, I was starting to worry about you. Enjoy that pool opening! |
Vickie!!!! Why would you think that you are babbling? Isn't that what we all do? ;) I hope that no one made you feel that way, because it is absolutely not true. Look at how much I babble!!
Kathy, I'm glad that you finally went to the doctor. Take your meds!!! Frouf, I hope that you aren't sitting out in the rain tonight. Or that you at least found an umbrella. :rain: Saundra, thanks for the suggestion about my dad. I'm not sure what I'm going to do, but inviting him over for a father's day meal might not be a bad idea. I hope that you are all doing well. I'm still sort of behind. We've been at Lowe's this evening for paint. We finally got it and are now home. There is much to do before painting tomorrow!! We got a light brown for the main walls and a red-brown for the accent walls. :crossed: that it looks good! I'll be sure to post a pic. ;) Have a great night everyone! |
Oh Angela I meant to tell you that I love your hair!! :whoo:
|
Lawsie, could we BE any slower these days???
We're back from dinner at Fire Mountain and I feel like a tick. NOT good. I just took a bath and stepped on the scale after getting out -- it said 148, which I suppose isn't bad for an evening of eating a little bit of everything: fried shrimp, hush puppies, salmon, meatloaf, rice with butter, sweet potato casserole, fried okra, cherry cobbler with vanilla ice cream and a roll. Just kill me now. I'm going to rest now and try to get some sleep so we can get up in the morning and leave at a reasonable hour. Night, all! |
Have fun tomorrow Kathy!
|
I just got home from dinner with the Niece and family. It's always good to see the Great Niece, Nephew and the other Great Niece (baby Sarah, my Godchild). The big kids wanted to come here after dinner to play with us while their parents went to ToysRUs. Huh? What kids don't want to go to the toy store? Anyway.....the just left, it's 9:30 and we are EXHAUSTED! Back out tomorrow to run the errands we didn't get done today. Sigh.
The pool is open. I'm not kidding, it's going to be a high of 58 here tomorrow and raining. Sheesh. Kathy, take your medicine. I know you're not a big medicine person but it seems like your Doctor really thinks it will work for you. You'll get over your dinner. I'm sure you didn't eat full servings of anything. Melissa, I love pictures. I can't wait to see yours. They are building a Lowe's up the street from us. I can't wait to see what they have there. I just started to think that maybe I was taking up too much of the board with my life and story since my posts are always so long. I just thought I'd let you all go crazy for a while. I really need to exercise tomorrow. My life keeps getting in the way which is NOT good. First exercise, then errands. I might not be back on until later tomorrow. Have a great evening and morning! |
today seems a lot like saturday. do you ever have those days when they feel like other days of the week? i guess it feels like saturday cuz we shot the senior olympics today. we were totally out of our routine but had a blast. we were out on the field from 7:45 am till almost 3 pm. the weather was gorgeous. i picked up a lot of sun.
i won the gold medal but did not set a new state record. i set the record 2 years ago and hoped to change it this year as this is my last year to shoot in the 55-59 age group. didn't do it. now i'll have to work on the 60-64 age record next year. also, we want to compete in the national senior games next year. i'm already excited. my eating? i'm shaking my head back and forth, flicking my tongue, blinking my eyes. my eating's been just as crazy as all that. i am going to start fresh in the am. i'm going to try to stay at 24 pts and eat mainly core. that's how i lost those 10 lbs recently. now i'm sure i need to lose those same 10 again. life goes on. paula, we'll be getting cherries shortly. what kind do you have? my fav are ranier. patti, thank you for the wonderful compliment. you're so sweet. you just made my day. curtis and i are both exhausted tonight. his shoulders held up. what a blessing! my feet held up. another blessing! life is good. kathy, i'll bet the mom to be and you were all smiles. kathy, i'm no doctor but i'm thinking your feeling poorly might be from depression. your body and your whole system have been through a lot the past few months. maybe that caused depression. angela, your hair is adorable. i'm soooooo happy for you. melissa, i went 6 months of not speaking to my dad. now that he's gone, i wish i had those 6 months back. saundra, you are so sweet. i guess we are "the team." the local paper did come interview us and took photos of the competition today. i'll see what i can do about posting it tomorrow. the reporter said the article was going to mainly be about curtis and me. frouf, i'll bet little ds was so proud seeing big ds in the paper. how neat!! kathy, sounds like your friend is a "sunrider" distributor. curtis was one several years ago. made good money. i know calli tea was one of the big items. i never got into it mainly because i considered that to be part of curtis' former life with his previous wife. i also went through the kitchen and threw away almost everything she'd left here. am i weird? frouf, read what i just wrote kathy. vickie, i'm going back to meetings next week, too. and i know it's going to be **** and high scale. kathy, i just read your post about going to the doctor. maybe i need to hang out a shingle. it's almost 9 pm. i am heading to bed. i had fun but i'm glad the olympics are over. night night. |
"I just started to think that maybe I was taking up too much of the board with my life and story since my posts are always so long."
vickie, did you see how long my post is? i do this a lot, too. we're all friends here and friends share with each other. so post away!!!!!!! i know what you mean about life getting in the way. sometimes i wish i could just be a dieting machine again like i was back in 95. i lost 50 lbs in 2 months that summer. didn't eat much. didn't do much. i was a dieting machine. |
Hi all!
First of all, Vickie, I agree with everyone else. You are NOT babbling. We are women, we love to hear all the details of our friends' lives. I'm glad you're going to your meeting Monday - come **** or high scale. Ha ha. I had a bad day today, but I'll be back on the wagon tomorrow, I promise. It's so beautifully cool here today, which was perfect for yardwork, but not swimming. Here's to hoping you get in your pool soon, I know you enjoy it. Kathy, you feel like a tick? I haven't heard that one before, but it IS descriptive. I feel the same. We went to the local Mexican place here, and let's just say that the Rio Grande platter is no more. Ugh, I feel sick. I actually have a gigantic headache, I think from the smoke in there, so as soon as I finish mailing you all, I'm going to bed. Melissa, have fun with your painting project. Those colors sound very pretty. I'm glad you're enjoying your new house. Frouf, I hope you and Emily stayed dry this evening. I too, would be really sad if I found out I were lactose intolerant. Have you taken any of that Lactaid stuff? Does it actually work? Today, Lorena and my sister came over, and we did our nails. Well, actually, Lorena did my nails...I'm terrible with nail polish. Now they're cute and pink (Frouf!) with tiny rose-colored flowers done in nail art. They won't last long with the gardening/mom stuff I do, but it was fun. Tomorrow is a busy day...I need to put the finishing touches on my dress and jewelry for the big choir event. Then, I'm going on a raid of Molten Core with my guild (computer game jargon, just ignore  ), and then off to a Handcart Pioneer festival event thing where my sister is singing and my dad is accompanying on guitar. Then home to put the kiddos to bed. Sunday evening is the big event... so I may not be on too much in the next few days. I'm off to sleep... Angela |
Good luck Angela at the big event (so what channel are we tuning in to? :)). And your nails sounds lovely! (speaking of which I am due - maybe tomorrow if I can be squeezed in?).
Kathy - take the pills - I'm sure they will help make you feel better! And no weighing allowed after eating and bathing (don't you know your skin can easily soak up a couple of pounds in the tub?). Hope you have a nice visit with your family. Vickie - geez if you are babbling - then I am frothing at the mouth! I agree w/Angela - details please! Sandra - congrats on doing so well - and we await your newspaper appearance' as well! Glad your feet are holding up nicely. I am home and and barely RECOVERING froma night in the pouring rain! I think each and every one of those dancing girls deserves a MEDAL! They were such troopers and did a fantastic job. First was the trying to get a parking spot fiasco (dd had invited 2 friends along) which took about 30 minutes (and the place is a 5 min drive from our house!). Then the 1.5 hour wait inside! And I could see the rain getting harder and harder and as the temperature dropped it got colder and colder! Then a pep talk from dance school directors - about how they need to stay positive - and all these people are outside walking/running in the rain (24 hour relay) cuz they either had/have cancer or know someone who does - and what's dancing in the rain for 30 minutes compared to what these people have to go thru? Well that sure put it in perspective! Now imagine a huge field (think soccer) with tents around the perimeter - in the center - nothing - around the edge - 3 lanes (slow/medium/fast) which you have to scoot thru to avoid getting run over and stepped on to get to the middle - where they created a stage area w/pylons. The ground is covered in green turf material which is literally SOAKING WET, like a big green sponge - and do I need to tell you that several dances have the girls rolling or crawling or leaping and landing in splits on the wet turf? Most of all they were FREEZING - in little tank tops - you could see the goosebumps on their arms! But they were smiling and leaping and dancing and everyone was cheering everyone on - even the little ones were smiling ear to ear (like 5 yrs old!). It was so difficult towards the end as their outfits were getting soaked - you could see the wet blotches - and their black gaucho/capris were almost falling off their bodies due to the weight of the water! I of course gave up on the umbrella at some point - rain had already soaked thru my meager little raincoat - my feet/shoes/socks were wet and top of pants wet where my jacket was dripping onto them. Needless to say we were VERY HAPPY to get back in the car and get home - my hands were literally hurting and tingling when I got in as they 'defrosted' and now my cheeks are bright red - like windburn? or maybe rainburn? on my face - a big pink cheeked froufie! That should be enuf babbling for now! Frouf |
Frouf, I was thinking of you all last night and am glad you got through it. So be it for planning events on the second week of June. Looks like today is the worst and it will start to moderate again tomorrow. We just have to hang in.
Vickie, I consider myself to be a "babbler", and sometimes question what opinion people have of my "babbling", but I figure that we're a group of good women who are here for eachother. Hope I'm right. It's so nice that you had fun with your family. Yesterday, I spoke to both of my sisters for quite a long time, so that was my visiting. Sandra, can't wait to hear about the newspaper report. I know that I repeat myself, but you guys are "special". Hope to see some pics too. Kathy, have a safe and fun trip. It's good that you'll be with your parents today. Oh, how I miss those times. I always feel a little sad between Mother's and Father's Day. Melissa, your colours sound great and again, look forward to the pictures. Have fun painting. Hope your weekend is special. Bernie has left for work, so it will be quiet. With the miserable weather, I don't think that I'll be going too far. Natan will be coming over in the late afternoon. Maybe there's a good movie on TV, it's a good day for one. I actually put the heat on last night, as I was cold. Okay, I guess I'll round up a load of laundry, and see what else needs my attention. |
Good Morning Chicks! You are all SO sweet. I'm back here again for my morning babble and :coffee: .
It's been monsooning here since last night and it's cold. Jim has to go out as soon as it stops pouring and let water out of the pool so that we can run the filter. For an above ground pool, you have to make sure the water stays below the top of the skimmer or you burn out your filter since it needs air to suction. Now you are all pool experts! Usually, we don't have to do it so soon. Sheesh. I'm on bra quest 2006; going to all Lane Bryant's in the area and trying to buy leftover bras in my style and size before they discontinue them. I'll be hitting two today. My Sister went to the one by her house yesterday and got me 2. I have 2 more stores close to me and I'll be trying both of them. Saundra, it never hurts to have a backup vacuum. Maybe you could keep your repaired one on a different level so that you don't have to drag it up and down the stairs. Or....are you in a ranch house like me? I don't think of anyone but me as a babbler. I enjoy reading everyone else's details! I always worry about what other people think so it's nice to hear that it was just me being overly judgemental of myself. Canada and Chicago must be having the same weather. It can pass as soon as it wants. Enjoy your time with Natan today. I just love being with my Greats! Kathy, how do you feel today? Less like a tick? :D  I know your Mom can make you a little crazy but I hope you enjoy your time with your parents today. Sandra, :bravo: on your GOLD medal! I'm so very proud of you. :cb: I'm guessing that you and Curtis are both proud of each other too. :cp: Jim had an Ex and they lived in the house together that I moved into with Jim. I went through that entire house and erased every single solitary sign of her. So....I don't think you're weird at all! Sorry to hear that your eating was haywire. Back on the wagon with you! :^: Angela, thanks for your support! And, thanks for getting my joke about going back to meetings come **** or high scale. :o Sorry to hear about the Rio Grande platter :p but I know it's been a long time since you've done something like that. You'll be ok and are probably back on the wagon already. :smug: Your nail party sounds like a lot of fun. I can't polish my own nails either. Mine get all lumpy and don't look nice at all. I've heard that if you use the right products, a manicure can last for a long time. It sounds like Lorena is quite talented at nail polishing. I hope you reach the Molten Core and that your choir event turns out great. We'll miss you and await the update. Frouf, you painted QUITE a picture. I almost feel wet and cold sitting here just reading about it. What troupers the kids are! I have to admit that the Instructor's speech would have motivated me as well. I'd have been too ashamed to whine about the rain and cold. Are you warm yet? I need to eat breakfast and exercise. Then shower and off to the errands. I think maybe we'll have lunch out somewhere too. I'm finally going to make my meat sauce for dinner. It's a good and hearty meal that will be good on a day like today. I'm also going to make my tamale pie so I can have it for lunches. It is SO damp and chilly. |
It's monsooning here too...I imagine it'll get to you, Vickie, in a day or so. :) Isn't it nice you have a 24 hour weather preview from me, who's about 5 hours west of you? I'm glad we don't have a pool...sounds like a lot of work. Plus I'd always be paranoid that my girls would fall in and drown. You have a good, locked fence around your pool, right? When I was young, our cat fell into a neighbor's pool, and died later. It was very tragic for a young me.
Frouf, I'm glad the girls enjoyed dancing in the rain. It may have been uncomfortable, but I bet they'll remember it, and the message of their instructor, way longer than if the weather had been favorable. I still remember once, when I was in my early 20's...I was the youth camp leader for our church. I was in charge of 40 people for 3 days. We camped in one location, canoed for a day to another place (and I had to coordinate moving all our stuff), and then camped in that second place for 2 days. Well, the last night, it started to rain and rain and rain. We were listening to the radio, and all of a sudden, the tornado sirens go off! We had 35 girls between the ages of 12 and 17 to wake up, get out of the tents, find their shoes, and get to shelter, in the middle of a thunderstorm, in the middle of the night, and do all that and keep them from freaking out. Needless to say, we survived, but I was exhausted. I got a total of 7 hours of sleep that 3 day stretch. As far as what channel we'll be on, I think it's being broadcast to North America via BYU-TV, so unless you have a satellite package with BYU-TV on it, you're out of luck. :) Off I go to start my day. Angela |
Ugh. So TOM arrived 2 WEEKS late! I'm crabby and crampy and now I have to force myself on the treadmill. I just came on here to whine.
Angela, no more rain, PLEASE! It's already monsooning here. We have a fence around our yard AND a separate fence around the pool with a padlock and a key. I'm very cautious about pools and drownings after my Great Nephew drowned in a public pool that wasn't properly secured. I don't blame you about worrying about your girls. That's pretty amazing that you were able to stay calm through the tornadoes. They scare the bejeebers out of me! |
Vickie, I guess that there's an upside to being 61, POST menopause! I really was lucky and only had a couple of "flash" experiences. Once I got on the Evening Primrose, things went well.
Angela and Vickie, keep your rain in the midwest. It's apparently going to get better here tomorrow, so don't send any more. I'm not sure what possessed me, but I've been cleaning all morning. I finally got my laundry in and took my shower, so it's R&R for the rest of the day. I tried successfully to make yocheese. I put a cone coffee filter in a funnel, and then added plain ff yogurt. Place in tall glass and cover overnight in fridge. In the morning, all the liquid drains into the glass and voila, you have yocheese. Just another thing to play with. You can add vanilla to the yogurt first, and it will be something like cream cheese. At least I'm learning something by spending half my days on the puter. |
Cold and miserable here too - not raining yet - but probably will? I can't believe it - it's like fall outside - strong COLD wind - and my measly little windbreaker sure doesn't cut it!
Angela - your outdoor experience sounds pretty horrific - but glad everyone was safe and sound in the end! ....I am barely recovered :) still trying to warm up (and yes Saundra I sure did want to turn the heat back on!). Also doing a load of laundry (all the wet clothing from last night). Sandra - I am so proud of you and curtis - how awesome for both of you to be top in your field - good for you! Saundra - let us know how the 'yocheese' turns out - and what you are going to use it for. Have fun w/Natan - definitely a movie day. Speaking of which we hope to head out to see "Cars" later today - little ds is so excited and yes my big turning 20 tomorrow 'baby' also wants to come along! Went to bed too late (like probably 1:30 am?) and made the big mistake of telling little ds we would go out for breakfast in the morning and to the library (he was crying when I got home last night so I was trying to make him feel better!). So of course he is in our room at 9:30 am telling me it's time to get up. I sure didn't feel like it - but I dragged myself out of bed and into the shower, got dressed and off to MCdonald's for breakfast (yes kid's meal came with a "cars' toy!) and some time in the playroom for ds. Then to the drugstore and library for books (still need to get some bday cards for big ds). Little ds got him a miniature basketball game and a big bag of reese's peanut butter cups for his present :) - very cute! We are giving him a 'coupon' for driving lessons (not even sure how expensive that is? YIKES!), and dd has ordered him a t-shirt off the internet which should be here any day now. Also have to order the DQ cake as well. Vickie - good luck with the bra hunt - sounds like you are on a mission! sorry about TOM problems - but I am very impressed with your dedication to exercise - good for you! And our neighbour who wanted the big pile of topsoil was up and about early this morning as we looked out the window he was very busy hauling wheelbarrows full across the street - he said he would need all of it - and I was thrilled and expecting to see an EMPTY driveway when I got home - but no such luck -seems he overestimated - so we still have quite a bit to get rid of. And obviously no gardening here yet as I await a DECENT weekend to get this done. Have to go check movie schedule now and see when we shall go! Later, Frouf |
frouf, those girls are real troopers. i can't imagine dancing in the rain. and this wasn't anything as easy as what gene kelly did. i am so proud of your young ladies.
saundra, we had the heat on last night, too. today, though, it's air conditioner. we're both sitting in our recliners in our "house clothes" just chillin and trying to recover from all the excitement of the senior olympics. they are going to start calling them senior games so we don't get confused with the special olympics. vickie, i wish you the best of success with your bra quest. i know what you're going through. i hate it when my favorite items/brands are discontinued. saundra, was the yocheese good? you're getting very creative. you may even have your own cooking show some day. frouf, i'd love to have your extra top soil. we live on a mountainside and have to replenish our beds a lot. |
Hey Chicks! I'm home from all my errands. I scored 4 more bras but had to go to 2 stores to get them. I'm out of Lane Bryants now! I think I have enough to stop but there is still one pink one on Ebay that I think I'm going to bid on. I don't have a pink one. Friends of Froufies MUST have a pink bra.
Speaking of Froufie.....I asked Jim what he wanted for dinner tomorrow and he said....a Froufie roast! I laughed out loud. Saundra, I will be DELIGHTED when I am menopausal. This perimenopausal stuff stinks. I've been a trifle out of sorts the last couple of days. I had NO idea the TOM was going to come so late. I've never had yocheese. I'm curious to know how you like it and what you do with it. Frouf, we did turn our heat back on. It's only about 56 here right now and the wind is blowing hard. It's more like a Fall day than an early Summer one. I'd like some of your dirt but I don't think I'll be able to haul it. Do you offer free shipping? I can't believe you promised little DS you'd get up early and go to breakfast. What did you end up eating? I hope you all enjoy big DS's party and that he likes his presents. I think driving lessons are the perfect gift and I hope you get a great deal. I'm making dinner right now and my buzzers are going off. I told Jim what a great wife I am to be out all day running errands and still coming home to make dinner (we MUST pat ourselves on the back). I don't tell him everything you all do because then I'd have to live up to your standards! I'll try to be back later. |
Sandra, we must have been posting at the same time. You deserve to put your tootsies up. Enjoy your rest. A winner at bowling too. You will just be too big for us soon!
|
Please, PLEASE, for the love of God, stop talking about your rain!! I'm melting here!!
Okay, we are home and I have huge terrific news! My brother and his wife got two babies last night! They have been taking all the classes and getting certified to be foster parents, and I think they were finished with it all last month so they've just been waiting. These are brothers, 7 months and 4 years, who have been in the CPS system since March and my brother's is their FOURTH placement. Isn't that sad? They said this morning, the first thing the older one said when he woke up was to ask about the baby. Anyway, they didn't come with anything except the clothes they were wearing so my brother and SIL went to Target (had a "baby shower" at church a few weeks ago and lots of people gave them Target gift cards) and bought clothes, diapers, etc. They said the older one doesn't have any toys so I will probably go either tonight or tomorrow night and take them some things. SIL is a teacher so she's home now during the summer. The timing couldn't be better. I don't know how long they'll get to keep them -- oh yeah I forgot to say that the mom is in prison for drugs, and there are two different dads. They don't know where one of them is, and the other one can't care for his child. My brother said they knew going in that it any time they get a call it could be temporary, or long-term, or turn into an adoption. I would hate for them to have the boys for months and months and then all of a sudden, a family member decide to take them back. Talk about heartbreaking! Well, we won't think about that for now. We went to a blueberry farm but we didn't pick, just bought already picked ones. They were having a drawing so I put my name in and they called me! I won a blueberry pie! They were making them right there, and the lady said this one was still warm. We also bought blueberry jam, blueberries, blackberries, and blueberry honey. It's regular honey but they have the bees there and they pollenate from the blueberry bushes, so the honey takes on a blueberry taste. It was all so good! (We did a lot of taste testing.) This is the place: http://www.echospringsblueberryfarm.com/default.asp We had a good visit with my parents, but we're glad to be home. I'm sooo tired. I need to go back and read everything from the day but will probably wait a little while. |
Kathy, what joyous news for your Brother and SIL! If I live until I'm 100, I'll never forget the call telling me that Julianna (my Great Niece) and Ethan (Great Nephew) were coming to our family. How sad that the kids had nothing. Of course, now they have the love of a wonderful family and what could be better than that? The blueberry place looks like so much fun. I bought blueberries at the grocery store today. Not as much fun! I'm glad to hear that you had a really nice day.
I'm on line waiting to win (trying to think positive) my Ebay bid on the pink bra. 11 minutes to go. |
this is the main photo that came with the newspaper article today. i'm at full draw and curtis is looking downfield at the targets. (my hair is growing out and is in that "funky" stage.
http://pic2.picturetrail.com/VOL982/.../155035509.jpg this is curtis and another archery scoring arrows down at their target. http://pic2.picturetrail.com/VOL982/.../155035501.jpg |
You two are the cutest little buggers! I love the love of complete concentration on your face and the extra little squint to your eye. How'd you do this with the photos. I'm sad that I can't figure it out. I feel kinda dumb!
I won my auction! I won my auction! Can you picture me dancing around like a little kid? I am! I got my pink bra and I'm now getting off the computer for tonight. I'm heading to the couch for my heating pad because my legs are tired and I'm crampy and achey. Oh BTW, I didn't exercise. I took a hot soaky bath instead and talked to my big Sister on the phone. That's what seemed good to me. Tomorrow I'll exercise before I make the Froufie roast. |
vickie, i'm glad you scored 4 more bras. life is good. we had shrimp and potatoes for dinner. both oven fried. i'm struggling but am focusing on getting back on track. i've run out of excuses. i might as well lose weight. i had so much fun bowling today that i'm going to keep it up. i took some tylenol when i got home and my tootsies are doing fine. maybe i just need to take pills when i need them and not just complain about aching.
okay, kathy, i won't tell you it's sprinkling here now. that's wonderful news that your bro/sil have taken in foster children. they must be good people. i hope all goes well for all involved. it's so sad when children get passed around. congratulations on winning that blueberry pie. i'm checking the website now. i didn't know there was a blueberry farm in texas. that's good to know. |
vickie, you get a gold medal for winning the pink bra!!! congratulations, my friend. i am happy for you. i did like kathy and paid a year's subscription at picturetrail.com.
Manage Photos | Upload Pix | Pic Inbox (0) | Edit Options | Make Prints | Image URLs | Invite History | My Account this is their menu bar that appears. i click "upload pix" to upload photos from my puter. (have you ever done that? i think you can do it with a free account and don't have to pay but i'm not sure.) do you know how to upload photos? all you do is after you click "upload pix", click "browse" and search for the photo on your puter. after you have chosen up to 5 photos, you click "upload pix now!" ithis takes several minutes. after uploading is finished, you get a screen asking what you want to do now? you go back to that menu bar that is now on the same page as "what do you want to do now?" and click "image urls". when you get the next screen, click "continue" that is beside your album name (mine just says "my album") the next page that pops up gives you each photo and several url options. to past a photo here onto the board, click the info in the window next to "Forums [IMG] Tag:" to highlight it. then at the very top of the page, click edit and "copy". now go to your post at 3fc and click your cursor where you want your photo. go to edit at the top of the 3fc page and click "paste." wallah!!!! you have posted your photo. now just finish your post by typing your message. |
Sandra, there are a whole lot of farms, mostly in east Texas. We used to go to a different one outside of Tyler to pick, but they're all over the area. I guess that soil is compatible.
Brother and SIL live in Alvarado, BTW. Did you know that? She teaches in Mansfield at a private school but applied last week at the elementary school in Venus and hopes to get it. It'll be about the same distance, I think, but she wants to be in a public school for benefits. And another BTW, you were correct about the Sunrider man -- I'm drinking another quart of tea and that reminded me. Did I mention that my weight was 148 this morning? GRRRR ... wrong direction! I guess last night's pigout affected me. Tomorrow's that baby shower but I am going to be really good. I am also cooking all vegetables and maybe cornbread (Jiffy) for dinner tomorrow night. It'll probably be purple hull peas, sliced tomatoes, squash and new potatoes. Vickie, congrats on the bras! I know you must be so excited about stocking up, and shame on LB for discontinuing them! At least you were able to persevere and find some. Enjoy your (precip from the sky that I don't want to talk about) and your Froufie roast tomorrow. Well, tomorrow night is the second Mavs game. The entire Metroplex is all a'twitter about it! I'll be back in the morning; I hope everybody has a great evening. |
Thanks, Sandra! I printed your instructions and will give it a try one of these days.
Kathy, go Mavs! |
you're welcome, vickie. i'll be watching for your photos.
kathy, purple hull peas sound wonderful. wish i had some. i get my cornbread mixes from texas--pioneer mills down in san antonio. we have huckleberries up here. they are sort of mountain blueberries. i'm anxious for the ranier cherries and flathead cherries to be available. i love them. i just typed my former bowling coach a long e telling her all about what's been going on with my feet and bowling. i had my last lesson from her back in 97. she's a fantastic coach. she lives in alvarado and does most of her coaching at centers in the metroplex. she has students who even fly in for lessons. kathy, you and judd might want to contact her. she's a former coach for pan american teams. she's really really good. i'll give you her website if you'd like it. i did remember you had relatives living in alvarado. i wish them and their children the best of happiness. i hope all works out for them. |
Goodness so much has happened! First I have to tell you all that I LOVE my LR now!! It looks so amazing. The colors are so rich, it's like we increased the value of our house by thousands. It looks completely different and I just adore it. Everything is still a complete disaster, but it's worth it.
My eating was terrible too but I think painting, taping, standing, squating, etc. for about 8 hours will work some of it off. :) Sandra, thank you for sharing your pictures!! I love that look on your face, you tiger! Looks like you are going in the for kill. Congrats!! Vickie, I was glad to see your morning post again. :D I'm sorry you are having TOM troubles but glad to see that you stocked up on those bras. When you find a good one you definitely can't let it get away. Kathy, if there was ever an explanation for the stereotypical people I work with, it is the mother of those children that your brother has taken in (well except they aren't in prison, but sometimes in jail). So bless their hearts, foster care is not an easy world at all. Oh, what are purple hull peas?? Frouf, I'm so sorry to hear that you had to sit out in the rain on Friday night! Sounds dreadful! But it seems like you had a better day today, so that's good! Painting today has really inspired us to get moving on some other home projects. I guess we are seeing how good it can look. Plus, it really feels like it's ours now. It's really exciting. Tell me what you think about this: we are thinking about tearing up the carpet and staining the concrete. Have you all seen this on tv? They do it a lot on "budget" decorating shows. It would be a temporary fix until we can afford laminate flooring, but that could be a few years from now. The carpet is DISGUSTING and I would rather have my kids running around on concrete than on this carpet. Anybody know anyone who has done this? It might not be feasible but we are thinking about it. OK, well I need to go get ready for church and then go to bed. It's been a long day. Oh and even though I'm sure I burned a lot of calories today, I wouldn't know how to record it as "exercise" so I'm not changing my ticker. Good night! |
I forgot to tell you all that I have been eating those graham treats like crazy. I ran out of regular grahams so I used LF cinnamon--they were so good! They taste like fried ice cream!! :T
|
melissa, i love your enthusiasm. i think the concrete floors is a good idea. older carpets aren't good for allergies, etc.... you and aaron are very creative. go for it, girl!
you're cute calling me tiger. one of the varsity archers from texas a&m told me she always looks at the target and thinks "grrrrrrrrr." guess i'm doing that, too. my eating has been the pits. i'm getting back on track. maybe i need to think of dieting as a competition. seems i'm a pretty competitive person, doesn't it? |
 Yes I think you are a very competitive person, that is for sure!
Well I'm just hanging out until time to leave for church. DH had to leave about 5 minutes before I was ready, so now I have all this time just to mellow out. I'm watching a dog training show. Such excitement! I hope that you all have great days! |
melissa, i'm up early, too. guess the excitement from the competitions has me wide-awake. i'll prob crash (again!) later today.
|
Wow, you were going all night and up early this morning.
Sandra, I love the pictures. You look wonderful and it's nice meeting Curtis. You guys are "stars". Vickie, I don't own a pink bra. Congratulations on your successful bid. I'm afraid that if I got into the ebay thing, that I'd get carried away. I still don't fully understand it. Sometimes I see buy it now without any bids. Kathy, I'm so happy for your bro and sil. I'm sure that it will be a challenge, and that they will ultimately bring much joy to them. It's always the little ones who suffer. Melissa, I knew that you'd love the room when I heard what colours you chose. I agree that taking away the old carpet is a good thing. I've seen the painted floors on TV and they look good. Okay, we're invited to a brunch and I better get ready. |
Good morning! Judd just left to play golf and I'm waiting a few minutes before going to the grocery store. Actually I'm just too lazy to get up and dress.
Melissa, you would like these peas, I'm sure. They're most like black-eyed peas but not really. I don't know if there's anything in your area that would be similar. We have cream peas or field peas that would be sorta like them. I wish I could send you and Sandra some peas! Or better yet, deliver them in person. Your living room sounds great! I just sometimes can't believe the difference that paint makes -- enjoy it! I'd also get rid of the carpet if it's that nasty. Paint or stain the concrete, maybe even stencil around the edges to camo the nailholes from the tackstrip? Then put a big rug in the center where your furniture is. I'll bet you'd be pleased with the result. Saundra, enjoy your brunch. I have Kashi GoLean Crunch cereal but don't know if I'm ready for it or not. I nearly feel like I should fast for a day to rid myself of this extra salt and fluid build-up. I *know* I didn't gain 3 pounds in the last two days but need to figure out what's happening. It isn't the new medicine because that has the opposite effect. Better get going -- I'll be back later on early evening. |
Good Morning Chicks! I just woke up at 9:00. I tend to sleep more when I have TOM. That's good because I'm always hungry. I'm doing laundry today and not much else besides cooking. I'm making a tamale pie but it will be for freezing and not for eating today since it probably won't be done until early afternoon. I haven't even THOUGHT about starting it yet.
Melissa, I'm so glad you are happy with the paint job. I've head of the concrete. Around here they do it alot in garages and basements. You could also do peel and stick laminate. They do it alot on Designed to Sell and it looks easy and they say it's alot cheaper. Just another option. You are lucky that you and Aaron on handy. Jim and I are both all thumbs. Kathy, enjoy your shower! Saundra, Ebay can be addictive! Buy it Now means you can click on the button and buy it for the price listed. It means the auction ends at that price. If you bid at the lower amount then the buy it now price goes away and you and others could get into a bidding war over the item. I've done both! You just need to be real careful to look at the feedback of the seller. I don't bid with anyone who has less than 99 percent positive rating and I try not to buy from anyone with less than 100 sales. Sometimes I make exceptions. Sandra, I hope you get a nap later. Believe it or not, I feel like I need one too and I've only been up for an hour and a half. I just learned about 2 other Lane Bryants in the area. I'll probably go to them over the next week to see if they have my bras. I'd like to get more white or other light color. Better get going. I can have my breakfast soon and I need to exercise, make a shopping list, and start cooking. |
