Good Sunday morning! I hope everyone got lots of good rest last night.

I'm eating my cereal and trying to decide whether to go plant flowers now before it gets too hot, or just sit and veg a while. I'm not feeling all that well and so for now, the veg option is winning. Maybe in an hour or two I can get out there. Problem is, I have to clear out some weeds and dig up the winter pansies before I can plant the new stuff.

I'll check back in a while to see if anyone's here yet.

Vickie 06-04-2006 09:30 AM

Good Morning Chicks! I just got up and, as usual, I'm sitting here with my first cup of coffee of the day. I love my coffee but generally only drink it first thing in the morning. Most of the day I just drink my darned water.

I had a very nice time at the party last night. I'm sure Jim would rather have been at home since he knew NO ONE but Cindy and Doug and their kids. I at least knew the Moms and Dads and some of the Aunts. And, of course, I know all of my GF's brothers. Some of these people I haven't seen in over 25 years! Josh was very gracious and gave a little speech after he opened his presents. It was short but warm and very heartfelt. I was proud of him. We laughed alot and I was made to feel very old. There was a young man there.....looking very cool....sunglasses, goatee....probably in his late, late 20's or early 30's. Cindy says to me, laughing, that I know him. No I don't, I say! Yes you do.....he was the ring bearer at our wedding. Dear Lord, that was a shock! Of course, I knew he'd be grown up but it she was dramatic to see him at 5 and then not again until 30! Whoa boy I felt old. We had a great laugh about that. As a matter of fact, we had alot of laughs. It felt good. We'll be seeing all of these same people again at the end of the month for the 25th anniversary party.

My eating was ok. I had some chicken, beef on a roll, some jello mold, and some veggies. I have NEVER taken the veggies out of a catering table so I think that alone should make me lose weight. The problem is that when we got home we were starving. I made some multigrain toast for myself and made Jim eggs and toast. It was just the best I could be.

Now for the shower today!

I'm off to see how far behind I am.

Vickie 06-04-2006 10:55 AM

Kathy, I vote that you veg but I know you'll plant. Winter pansies is something we have no idea about here!

Vickie 06-04-2006 10:58 AM

Congrats to the Mavericks!

Saundra, I'll have to look for some garlic lemon marinade. I have a recipe that's pretty easy but I like to try new stuff too.

Melissa, did you have fun at the concert?

I have to go get ready for the shower now. I'm wearing bright green striped top with pink butterflies embroidered on it with matching plain light green capretties (as my Great Niece calls them!). Just because I'm big doesn't mean I have to dress in black all the time. Yesterday I wore my red battenburg lace top with white capretties and sandals. I no longer care what other people think. Is that what 50 does for a girl?!

sauniemay 06-04-2006 11:01 AM

Kathy, sounds like you had fun yesterday. I love getting new every day things, do you have pictures of the dishes that you're thinking about? It's good to veg for a while. Lord knows, you've earned it. We have a little sun right now, but looks like it's going to be short lived. I'll have to find out the name of the flowers that I planted, but they really took well and everything looks good.

Vickie, so glad that you had fun. I can imagine how weird it would be to meet someone 25 years later. I understand how you feel about aging, but we are now older and hopefully wiser.;) Have fun at the shower today.

Kids took Natan to Montreal yesterday and wound up in pouring rain. They were suppose to attend an outdoor Japanese festival, but instead went to Schwartz's Deli and had a late lunch. As we were finishing dinner, got a surprise visit from them with a fresh rye bread and a pound of smoked meat. Bernie was thrilled and wound up eating one and a half sandwiches for dessert. I insisted that they take the leftovers home, cause enough is enough. Today, they're going out on their own and bringing Natan here for a few hours. Bernie and I are going to a special restaurant tonight, Urban Pear, so looking forward to it.

Better hit the shower before my gang shows up,

septembersgoal 06-04-2006 11:46 AM

Hi everyone! I stopped by to see how things were going with all of you. I am really exhausted today for some reason, so I'm going to go take a (hopefully) short nap. There is so much to do, but I'm pretty darn useless right now.

Vickie, I'm glad that you had a good time at the party, and that you wore a cute outfit and felt good about yourself. :)

Katpo 06-04-2006 12:00 PM

I'm back from yet another trip to the store! That's like 5 trips in the last two days @ $50-60 each time -- what on earth am I doing wrong? We needed dog food but I ended up getting milk and yogurt and cantaloupe, and some donuts for the kids. I'm determined not to go back for a while, no matter if we're starving or not.

Judd's about to leave to go play golf, so I'm going to wait a while before planting. I did my other chores like dishes and laundry already this morning so at least it hasn't been a complete waste of time.

I think there's more to talk about but I'm tired now, so I'll be back in a little while. Melissa, I hope you're getting some rest now too. Have fun at the shower, Vickie.

The restaurant tonight sounds interesting, Saundra. I have moss rose and begonias to plant in the flowerbeds as soon as the pansies come out.

septembersgoal 06-04-2006 02:06 PM

Hey there. Kathy, I hope that you are getting some rest. I ended up sleeping about an hour more than I wanted, then came out to the LR to find DH asleep too. So now he's napping. There are so many things that I could be doing that I'm not sure where to start. Right now I'm thinking about a menu for the week. Especially lunches for DH. He can be kind of picky. But if I want him to do this with me then I need to at least get him started.

Katpo 06-04-2006 02:24 PM

That's a good idea. I've made a list of things I need to do this week -- well, actually extra things in addition to the regular cooking and cleaning. It's a pretty long list so we'll see how that goes. I hope Aaron has a good first week.

septembersgoal 06-04-2006 03:44 PM

Well I am quite proud of myself. I have chopped and bagged up individual portions of zucchini, squash, and onion :T for dinners this week. I also went ahead and washed the red potatoes I got at farmer's market yesterday, so they're ready to be cut and boiled. I'm trying to decide what to cook tonight, I'm thinking of doing several different things in order to have LOs for the week.
I've been searching through our recipe board and there are so many recipes it is hard to keep track of them all. There are so many that I have forgotten about many of them, even though I have several printed out.
Kathy did we ever give any more thought to sorting the recipes by main ingredient (chicken, fish, etc.)? If there's any way I could help I would. It would make things a lot easier, but it might be more work than it's worth!?

I think I'm going to make some taco soup tonight for lunches this week. DH is not a big soup eater but he likes thick, homemade-type soups. I'm also thinking about popping a bunch of chicken with ff italian in the crockpot for lunches. Yumm...that is one of the best ways to eat chicken, IMO.

I need to get up and do something! Although I'm being productive, I'm feeling quite lazy. We're going to work in the yard later this evening when it cools off. Right now I need to get busy in this house! Maybe even exercise??

RoseB 06-04-2006 03:55 PM

Vicki glad to hear that you go for the nice colours. I am going to have to buy some nice light shades this summer. I tend to go for the dark colours all the time. I have heaps of winter clothes but very little nice summer duds. I guess I best go out and find some nice colours in tops and pants.

Kathy did you hear that Gatorade is suppose to be good for a headache? My sil takes it when he gets one.
I have never heard of winter pansies either.

Saundra it rained here all day yesterday. I am sorry to hear it rained in Ottawa as our ds was having two couples come to look at the house.
So how was the Urban Pear , sounds different.

Melissa, that rest sure did you a world of good. You have been a busy bee.

Waving to the rest of you, must get some work done, I have been out all day. We went to the show last night with friends and were late getting to bed. I slept in and never got to Church.
Blue Skies,
Rose

Afternoon chickies,,,thougth I would check in and tell you about my evening last night.....no it was not fun!! I was sound asleep at 430 am and was woken up by someone pounding on my front door. Now dh is working out of town so Im by myself with my furbabies. I thought I was dreaming.......till I heard it again. So I crept to my bathroom window and peeked out. There was some lady walking down my sidewalk and heading into my backyard??? What the heck??? anyways she walked in front of the house ,,to the sides,,, crossed the street. Got back into her van , phoned someone on her cell phone and drove away! I was pretty freaked...I turned my light on and read till I fell back to sleep hours later.......of course my dog slept thru all of this.(and he would have gone nuts believe me) and my kitty was standing guard at the top of the stairs. Good kitty!! haha Im thinking it was someone looking for their kid at a party or something..cuz we live in a pretty small town with not much crime here......but it was scary all the same. Told all my neighbours to be on the lookout just in case... now Im going to go have a nap..Im pooped.
ttyl

RoseB 06-04-2006 04:45 PM

P.a. That would be nerve racking for sure. I would have been wide awake until morning for sure. Glad to hear all was ok.

just a quick note to let ya'll know we're home. i'm over on page 3 reading trying to catch up.

we had a great time--didn't bow fish. curtis did a little traditional fishing off the bank. i stayed near the trailer reading and watching wildlife. we were in a beautiful (brand new!) park on a shallow cove. it was well landscaped, paved, and quiet. our picture window faced the lake. we watched mama geese/goslings taking their daily swims. also we had pelicans, seagulls, (yes-pelicans and sea gulls in central montana!), on the water along with large fish jumping. there were 5 deer who came down in the evenings to browse along the shore. quite a picture for sure.

okay, i'm heading back to page 3 to read after i tell you we also saw twin antelope fawns with their doe. can you tell i'm into nature? (saw several bald eagle nests with eagles in them.)

now back to page 3.

ontarget 06-04-2006 06:08 PM

i'm typing this as i read. so it may not always make sense. (do i ever make sense?)

kathy, i am proud of judd for dropping 45 lbs. i wish him the best of success for the rest of his weightloss.

melissa, any way to have all your coworkers on bl weigh together? i am very excited dh is doing core with you. now i need to "trick" curtis into it. a goal dress sounds like a good idea. i am so proud to hear your enthusiasm in your posts. makes me smile.

i love the theater, too. i have never lived near new york but i have seen some shows in ft worth/dallas/spokane. went to a few dinner theaters. loved those, too. i used to direct plays for competition when i was teaching. sure had a lot of fun. also, i can really, really appreciate the special effects and sets.

rose, i hadn't heard a word about the terrorists. we were out of contact with the world all weekend. i need to go find out what's going on. i hope all is all right.

nikki, i think there's always a "fear" factor. when i raised my son, we were afraid of the russians. wonder if there will ever be a "true peace."

patti, those tater quesadillas sound good. thanks for sharing the recipe.

melissa, what a cute message!

i'm up to page 9 now!!!

vickie, sounds like you had a great time yesterday at the party. congratulations on staying core. i am proud of you. those little ones grow up, don't they? i'm still smiling about the ring bearer.

okay, i am inspired. i will start back on core in the am. thank you all for inspiring me.

rose, what movie did you see? did you go see da vinci code?

patti, that's scarey about the nighttime knocker. do you have 911 you could call?

i go to the rheumatologist and podiatrist in the am. sure hope i can get some help for these tootsies. the senior games are this coming friday. curtis is running the archery event so there won't be any trouble about my not walking to and from the targets. that will save me about a mile (really) of walking. we were talking today about how the other geezers will prob be wishing they had doctor's notes so they wouldn't have to walk. oh, well.

have a super sunday evening. i'm re-starting core in the am. now i need to go do some exercise biking so i won't be too far behind on my exercise for the july 4 goal. i'm not treadding any more till i talk to the doctors.

Vickie 06-04-2006 06:30 PM

Hey Chicks! I'm home but I have a headache and I'm very tired. I'm making dinner now so I can't stay long.

I'm VERY alarmed by my weight. I'm up about 7 pounds since last week. My TOM never came and it was due over a week ago. I'm definitely not pregnant and I'm sure it's largely hormonal but I'm freaked out anyway. I could just cry. I've decided that I'm going to try to start exercising, at least for short periods of time, every day. And, I am going to weigh/measure/count Core foods. I simply can not let myself gain back these 45 pounds. I'm well on my way if I'm not careful. I wasn't alarmed earlier in the week because I just thought it was menstrual bloat but it just doesn't seem to be going away. I'll also try to cut back on my salt and I'm still drinking 8 eight ounce glasses of water a day. I'm sad.

Sandra, I'm glad you're home.

Melissa, you sound like you are on a roll. I love the idea of making entree subcategories. I'll help too if I can. I was thinking the other day how lucky we are that Angela moved all those recipes around for us. We just used to have one big board. Thanks Angela!

I probably won't be back until morning. If I can make this headache go away, I might walk on the treadmill after dinner.

My pool gets opened tomorrow. If we're lucky we'll be able to swim in a couple of weeks.

ontarget 06-04-2006 06:40 PM

{{{{{vickie}}}}}, girl, i'm right here with you and will weigh and measure core foods along beside you. we can get this weight off. keep smiling. you're not alone.

septembersgoal 06-04-2006 07:58 PM

Vickie, I'm sorry to hear that you are feeling down. I know that you can get those 7 pounds off, and many many more! You have been so succesful. But you've also been through a whole lot lately. We can all do it together!

Sandra, it sounds like you had a wonderful time! I would love to see all of those animals. How exciting! I could have taken some great pictures. :) It's good to have you "home!"

We've been shopping for house items and spent too much money of course. I need to get busy cooking, laundry, and putting things away!

ontarget 06-04-2006 08:17 PM

melissa, i tried to take photos of the deer and of the pelicans but i didn't have good enough zoom on my camera.

sauniemay 06-04-2006 08:22 PM

Hello all, just a quick note to say it was a good day. The sun mangaged to stay out, and Natan and I had fun.

Tonight we had a fabulous dinner out. It was very very good.

Good night from our Nation's capiatal, I'll catch up tomorrow.

ontarget 06-04-2006 08:27 PM

good night, saundra. i'll talk to you tomorrow.

Froufy 06-04-2006 09:33 PM

So I think I really liked "chicago' more than I thought! There are some memorable songs (e.g. all that jazz, razzle dazzle) but I am right now (as I type) listening to the sound track (mind you it's the movie version) but it is so cute and such great music! I think I should have lived in the 20s or 30s cuz I love that jazzy bluesy type of music. (My other favorite is Michael Buble - gosh I just LOVE his voice and those songs - wow!).

Vickie - sounds like you did great at the party - I also freak out when I see kids that i remember as babies (sure they got older - but I sure didn't right?). Your outfits sound adorable! And don't fret about the 7 lbs - only temporary as well know! Hang in there.

kathy - I too could get groceries daily - honestly - went grocery shopping today and $160 later and not much to show for it? (at least that's what the kids says "there's nothing to eat!').

I am quite freaked out by the terrorist thing - but frankly Canada is not known for its stringent laws - and now it seems we have home grown things going on - living in Ottawa I know there are places here that would be a target! but I just can't live in fear everyday!

Yesterday's rainy miserable day kept me indoors - yes in my jammies until 5 pm when I showered and got ready to go to niece's dance recital w/the family. Lots of fun except the auditorium was STIFLING - so hot - I was red in the face! Afterwards bil took us all out to restaurant for 'snacks' - we all had 'breakfast'- did not get home til midnight!

This morning woke up again with neck ache - i wish i knew which way I was sleeping that caused this so I could make a change! Nice and sunny this morning - so finally got out w/ds for some of the open doors stuff. First went to local newspaper - they were giving tours and ds and I loved it - saw the presses and newsroom. (I of course got excited standing next to the desk of the travel editor! - all those gorgeous pics all over her desk!). We then tried to get into the Canada post control center but of course all pm tours were already booked up. Ended up taking ds to the Agriculture Museum for a nice horse and wagon ride, visit to the exhibits, the sheep barn, saw the milking in the dairy barn and had lots of fun. Clouds already rolling in on the way home - grocery store then back!

Dh was gone all day at Diefenbunker - shows up at 5:30 - as I am preparing dinner - gets to eat then gone again at 6:30 for jam session (band playing on the 13th at local bar).

Saundra - how was the Urban Pear? We go there sometimes for office lunch as it is just around the corner.

Niki - I would go nuts living in NY - wanting to go see broadway shows ALL THE TIME! I would just cry! I am still hoping to get to new york for a weekend - I have 2 gf who are also fanatics of musicals so I know I would have company! I was last in NYC many years ago (like I was gp w/big ds and he's turning 20 next week! Saw 42nd st - i wanted to see a real bonafide toe tapping broadway musical and this sure fit the bill! Had dinner at Sardi's - and also had lunch at the Russian Tea room and the next day and ended up sitting next to WOODY ALLEN AND MIA FARROW! - such an exciting weekend !).

Sandra - glad you are back. good luck w/dr appts tomorrow - we await the tootsie report.

Patti - I too would have freaked and would have been dialling 911 - esp if I was home alone - love the idea of an 'attack kitty' tho.

I am so tired tonight - going to bed too late this weekend - can't believe I have to go to work tomorrow - where has this weekend gone?

Frouf

septembersgoal 06-04-2006 09:36 PM

Frouf, it sounds like you and ds had a really fun time! Glad you got to do some relaxing this weekend.

ontarget 06-04-2006 10:06 PM

frouf, your weekend does sound relaxing.

melissa, i saw your menu. looks good.

night night, chickies.

RoseB 06-04-2006 10:11 PM

Sandra we saw RV. It was good for a laugh.
Rose

ontarget 06-04-2006 10:13 PM

i'll bet it was funny. we haven't been to the movies in a long time.

well, i am about ready to go outside and spray some liquid fence. that should keep the deer away from the roses. i have been stalling till the neighbors went inside. (it smells pretty bad till it dries.)

Katpo 06-04-2006 10:31 PM

We also haven't gone to a movie in a long while. I think Judd has gone to a few (takes a little mid-day break from work sometimes) but my last one was over the Christmas break when we saw King Kong. There are several I'd like to see but will probably have to go alone if I want to see them since they are not Judd's type.

I also dread going back to work tomorrow as I still don't feel well and don't know why. There is something wacky going on with my body, something that isn't normal. I don't know how to find out what it is. I have an appt. with the surgeon tomorrow afternoon for a checkup. I should probably go to my regular doctor for blood work but don't have the time or money to waste on such stuff right now. I'm having budget meltdown and had to have a talk with Judd again about the golf. He has played twice this weekend to the tune of about $150, and since he plays most weekends, it is really adding up. I'm about to the point where I get mad instead of being so nice all the time.

And with that, I'm going to try to get to sleep early tonight. Good night, friends.

septembersgoal 06-04-2006 10:33 PM

Sandra, have fun with that liquid fence! :faint:

I'm trying to get myself together girls. I've got the chicken in the crockpot, meals planned out for the week, veggies chopped....hmmm...didn't get my clothes ready for tomorrow. Oh well, I at least know what I'm going to wear, I'll just have to iron it in the morning.
Now I'm going to go review FlyLady's website. I'm working on it!
Good night all!

septembersgoal 06-04-2006 10:35 PM

Kathy I'm so sorry that you aren't feeling well. I'm sure the financial stress is probably having physical affects as well. You would think that Judd would understand $ issues with the golf?? Especially once or more a week--that seems like a whole lot to me, but then I'm not married to a sports guy. Anyway, I hope that you have a restful night and feel better in the morning.

ontarget 06-05-2006 12:16 AM

kathy, i hope you go to the doctor. by any chance are you getting toward menopause? my last movie was king kong, too. we're adventurers, aren't we? seriously, take care of yourself. go to the doctor and find out what's going on.

melissa, pee uuuuu!!! that liquid fence is strong stuff. it worked last year. the deer have already been nibbling on my roses. only 2 bushes are blooming so far. i get soooooo mad at those deer--especially when they nibble my bushes wayyyy down before i even get one flower. oh, well. the liquid fence is in place.

congratulations on being prepared. all i've done for tomorrow is set the alarm. i have an appt with the rheumatologist at 9:15 then the podiatrist immediately afterwards. the senior games are fri. i want to be as spry as possible. lol

sauniemay 06-05-2006 08:56 AM

Sandra, hope the appointments go well and that you are close to normal soon. Glad I don't have to smell the liquid fence. They spray around here in the fall as we have government "experimental" farms around here. There is open land between our house and ds's. There is a family of deer that live in the trees. It's so cool to see them when they come out and graze in the early evening. I know that they can be a pain though.

Kathy, could the new meds be bothering your system? It wouldn't hurt to ask your surgeon. You should get to the bottom of it though. Of course, money stresses can't help either.

Melissa, wow you are one super core lady. I know what you mean about all the recipes. Every so often I look for something and rediscover the good ones all over again. I use the search, ie chicken and at least they are highligted. I am very proud of you, and hope you enjoy the fruits of your labor this week.

Frouf, we went to New York for the first time last June. We absolutely fell in love with it. We went to Dizzy's Coca Cola Club in the Time Warner building. It was a real up scale jazz club, with very chic clientel. We also saw an off Broadway play. My niece in Toronto works for a theatre and usually gets us good tickets wherever we want to go. The first time we saw Phantom it was fourth row centre, and we met Colm Wilkinson after the performance. The best thing that I've seen is Les Mis with Colm Wilkinson. I get shivers just thinking of how grand it was. The Urban Pear is absolutlely wonderful. Their menu is just a little different. I had beef tenderloin with Israeli couscous and spaghetti squash.

Today, Bernie is off and it's nice so far. He's going jogging soon. I bid on a manicure and pedicure at a silent auction for the Children's Hospital, and I won it, so will pick up my certificate this morning. We're probably going to see DaVinci Code this afternoon. Everyone who's seen it, has liked it., so now it's our turn. I'll let you know. After that, we'll go to Mr. B's.

Okay, now that I've written a novel, guess I'll go get ready,:)

Vickie 06-05-2006 09:15 AM

Good Morning Chicks! It's a new day and a new program. I'm going to get on the treadmill in a few moments so that I don't spend all day dreading it. I'll have to have my computer time later. The scale is still up this morning and that dreaded discomfort I had last fall is back. Ugh.

Saundra, it is always so nice to hear that you had a nice time with Natan. I need to schedule my Great Niece's sleepover. Your NY trip sounded spectacular. I understand why you'd like to go back. Are you going to have the manicure and pedicure today or are you just picking up the certifcate?

Frouf, you do sound absolutely delighted with the play. You should do MORE rather than less of these since they seem to renew your spirit. As for the stiff neck, my guess is that you need a new pillow. That's the first thought I have when I start getting sore during sleep. Hope you got some good sleep last night.

Kath, I hope you're feeling better this morning and that it's nothing serious. Are your symptoms possibly side effects from your medicine? I'm glad you're going to the surgeon today. I hope you tell him what's up. Maybe you could tell Judd to cut back on golfing so you wouldn't feel guilty going to the Doctor. Sheesh! I'm hoping that you slept well but I'm guessing you didn't because of your budget worries.

Sandra, there's a westerly breeze blowing in my window this morning. What is that smell? :o :D I hope the liquid fence works to keep those pesky deer from nibbling on your tender rose bushes. It's good you're having a tune up today so that you can given them **** at the Senior Olympics.

Melissa, I'm impressed and motivated by your determination. I hope you have a great day.

I'm trying not to be so sad. Jim says I can fix this and I know I can. I think my sadness is hormonal and menopausal. It's hard to fight through hormones, but I'm trying!

My sweet Vickie, have you tried Evening Primrose. It was recommended to me when I started menopause, and did wonders. I took two a day. Ask your doctor, but it really is a good thing.

RoseB 06-05-2006 10:18 AM

Vicki, wish I had something profound to tell you. I wonder if the primrose might help you. I never had a problem with menopause, just quit one month and that was it. I guess I was lucky.

Saundra it is funny you say ask your Doctor. Heck, I find the druggist knows more the Dr. I am allergic to Sulfa drug. I started to take Sulfate Glucosamine Chondroitine and noticed the Sulfate. I asked the Dr. and he said he did not know , because it says Sulfate. I went right downstairs asked my druggist and he said there would be no problem with me taking it. He then he went and looked it up for me and showed me the information about it. I guess the Dr's have a hard time keeping up with all the different things.

Kathy, hope you are feeling in the pink soon.

Waving to you all, I will come back later and read.
Blue skies, (and it is today)
Rose

Hair Help

1 Attachment(s)
Okay all, here's a completely frivolous, non-Core related question (or 15) that I truly need help with.

I'm in this choir, right? Well, it's being televised all over North America via satellite etc, right? Well, I found out I'm in the front row. :dizzy: So, I really need help with my hair. I know little to nothing about styling hair, but I want it to look decent for this event. I usually put it in a ponytail or wind it up in a french roll thing and secure it with a big clippy thing. BUT, I would like to have it down for this event, and I haven't a clue.

I've attached a picture, so you can see what I'm working with. It's pretty curly, and very thick, especially on the sides. Every day I shampoo, conditioner, and air dry. That's it. It drives me crazy when it's down, because it fluffs in my eyes and around my neck, hangs in my eyes when I bend over, etc. I feel like a big sheepdog or something. Is there anyway to keep it curly, but manageable, away from my face, and not fluffy? What products/techniques do I need? HELP!

Thanks guys. :)

Angela

saundra, we enjoy watching the deer, too. i have even been known to peek through the blinds to watch them eat my roses. lol oh, well, they have to eat, too.

wow, vickie!! you can smell the liq fence? it is potent stuff all right. i feel like several of us are up early this am getting our game faces on for our new start. we're going to be all right. i was reading what they have at the bottom of the page about eat good, look good, feel good. i'm glad you're getting your exercise over with early. i'll do mine after i get back from the doctors' and after lunch. keep your chin up. we just had a hiccup. we'll do it.

hi there, rose. bet you're surprised to see me here this early. have a good day.

angela, i don't know much about hair. how about talking to a salon?

sauniemay 06-05-2006 11:06 AM

Sandra, guess there is something to that saying. It's not so easy to follow all the time, but the results are rewarding!

Angela, your hair looks really thick. I bet that a stylist would want to layer it a little. Would you consider a cut? Looks to me like you have great hair to work with.:)

Angela - I think your hair is GORGEOUS - definitely a lot of potential - you probably need some specific products for your type of hair? This might 'tame' it a bit - and I would think you should blow dry it to maintain a 'shape' or style? Do you have a blowdryer/ round brush? You should experiment a bit and see what happens - there are several non frizzing/smoothing products on the market. I agree that maybe talking to a stylist might help? Good luck.

Saundra - forgot to mention the Schwartz's connection. My ex-dh's mother was a schwartz - her dad OWNED the deli believe it or not. My ex FIL met her there and used to have a pt job slicing the smoked meat! Unfortunately ex-dh's mom passed away when he was 8 so I never got to know her (and could never understand why his dad did not go into the BUSINESS - is he insane???). My dd is actually named after her (Ethel = Etel = Emily)!

Hope you have a lovely day of outings - weather is beautiful - warming up quite nicely! Let us know how you like the movie (did you read the book?).

Vickie - I have also heard of evening primrose but have not tried it yet. I used to take 5-htp for those 'blue' feelings and also helpful for sleeping - might start taking that again (takes like 2-3 weeks to start working!).

Sandra - hope your dr appts go well and you are certified 'spry' for Friday!

I am soooo very tired today - I was yawning and all but when the lights went off I just lay there tossing and turning and wondering and worrying. This did not make for a good night's sleep - of course there was dh snoring and sleeping like a baby! hmmmph!

And of course things were a bit 'touchy' this morning after I asked him why he was NOT applying for the job my gf mentioned? Her dh got a job at a new high tech firm and they are looking for someone with my dh's skills. Well they are a 'military' outfit you know! Yes, but you would be working on communications (not weapons - yes I already checked this out w/my gf!). Well I want to work on my amp design....well that's nice and all, but frankly we are eating into our savings and would you rather work for a military company or sleep in your car?

I then suggested he should maybe look into a part time job if he wants to continue pursuing his company idea? In October it will be two years that he has been unemployed and I think that's enuf! I also reminded him that I really miss some of the things I used to be able to do without having to worry about $$$. Of course I get a bit of a cold shoulder when I leave the house - and I say yup 'mean old mom making you go out and work' - he does realize the stress I'm under but is so hung up on his 'idea' that he doesn't realize the sacrifices being made.

I am now worried about day camps for little ds and decided maybe no real birthday party this year (all other kids have those special event parties: swimming, bowling, arcades) - probably cost around $150 which is one week of camp! I am also dreading september - when there are always those beginning of school expenses - and let's not even mention dance class. I really really don't want to stop the dance classes cuz dh is not working - not fair to dd - I do get child support from her dad but certainly not enuf to pay for everything (and rightly so - I do also have to support her!).

Need to find some good lucrative stocks to invest in over the summer so I can make some $$$ :D

P.S. Angela - just had another look at your hair - have you ever considered layering it? Like shorter on the sides? I am wondering if that might get rid of all that bulk/fuzziness on the bottom? Just a thought!
