Vickie 06-06-2006 01:59 PM

Oh...and besides all my above attempts to help...I'll be praying too.

Vickie 06-06-2006 02:00 PM

Saundra, lucky girl! I wish I could have a housecleaner again.

Katpo 06-06-2006 02:33 PM

Melissa ... I'm so sorry you're having a hard time.

ontarget 06-06-2006 03:28 PM

vickie, i'm sorry you had the bad dream. we don't watch "deep" movies before bedtime either. jim was smart to suggest ya'll watch something light. i got on the scales at the doctor's yesterday and was up several pounds. i'm not going to change my tracker till i go to ww next week. those dr scales always show me heavier. always have. however--i do know i've gained quite a bit the past week. i had one of those spells where i was eating like i wanted to gain. oh, well, we are op and doing great. the weightloss will happen.

melissa, i am starting to get a few blossoms on the south side of the house. these roses get sun all day so they are always a little ahead of the others. the liquid fence is in place. that should slow the nibbling. i know i wouldn't want to put anything in my mouth that had it on it. i am very impressed with your dedication. yes, you are serious. i love it!! you are motivating me, girl. i forgot to ride my bike till after 9 pm yesterday. i'm going to do it earlier today. i was afraid i wouldn't be able to sleep with my metabolism whizzing along but i was.

vickie, i'm wanting to get some weight off before i go back to ww friday next week. (senior olympics are this fri so i have "a reprieve from the governor"!)

rose, how's your week going? i wish we could get together for some walking and laughing. are you doing well opwise? did you decide to count pts and do core at the same time. (i'm thinking some call that floreing.)

saundra, what are gazinias? are they some kind of gardenia? i'd love to have some annuals that smell like gardenias. i read the da vinci code and thought it moved like a chase. i can see how the movie would. my gf down in tx saw the movie and loved it. she wants to see it again to help with the puzzles. she hasn't read the book. i guess i should go see it tomorrow if curtis is out of town.

WE'LL BE LOSING WEIGHT AND SMILING DOING CORE..
WE'LL BE LOSING WEIGHT AND SMILING DOING CORE.......
WE'LL BE LOSING WEIGHT AND SMILING
WE'LL BE LOSING WEIGHT AND SMILING
WE'LL BE LOSING WEIGHT AND SMILING DOING CORE......

WE'LL BE EATING FRUIT AND VEGGIES WHILE WE LOSE..
WE'LL BE EATING FRUIT AND VEGGIES WHILE WE LOSE.........
WE'LL BE EATING FRUIT AND VEGGIES
WE'LL BE EATING FRUIT AND VEGGIES
WE'LL BE EATING FRUIT AND VEGGIES WHILE WE LOSE...

WE'LL BE GETTING HELP AND PRAISE HERE EVERY DAY....
WE'LL BE GETTING HELP AND PRAISE HERE EVERY DAY.........
WE'LL BE GETTING HELP AND PRAISE HERE
WE'LL BE GETTING HELP AND PRAISE HERE
WE'LL BE GETTING HELP AND PRAISE HERE EVERY DAY......

(do i need a life or what?)

vickie's post about our being on a wagon together made me think of this song. i can see us all laughing, singing and chugging along on that wagon.

melissa, i am tempted to touch your shoulder and say, "boo!!" but i won't. i hope you're feeling better now and are more settled. just smile at those people all the way to the bank. i was once told that by someone special. don't let anyone get under your skin.

kathy, i missed the post about your doctor's visit. i want to tell you how very very happy i am that you are back into normal shoes. i am so glad you're doing well.

Froufy 06-06-2006 04:54 PM

Hey Sandra - what a composer! I love our new theme song (as I hum along!) - very cute!

Vickie - I know hormones can wreak havoc with weight loss - which only makes it more frustrating - definitely keep changing things around - you never know what will get the ball rolling (downward) again!

Melissa - hugs to you:hug: I am so sorry you are feeling so dejected about your job - definitely time to find something more appropriate? We can't have a mopey melissa around here!

Kathy - your chinese food sounds very very good. Our lunch out was fun - I had the chicken and vegetables in the spicy garlic sauce (made milder for the sensitive frouf palate) on rice - it did come with a spring roll which was very yummy. Did drink lots of water too!

Saundra - what are gazinias? Too bad about the bugs attacking you on your walk - the pool idea sounds great! We will tend to hang out at my sil's in greely on hot weekend days as she has a lovely inground pool. I find it very relaxing there - pool is small but well heated and landscaping is lovely and calming (think inukshuk, rocks, shrubbery, waterfalls). We do usually end up bringing our own food tho and bbqing there so they don't end up feeding us all the time!:o

In fact dh just bought little ds an early bday present (july 25) - this ride on water jetski looking thing that is on sale at toys are us ($39 instead of $69!) - up to 80 lbs so should last a couple of years? (he is around 55-60 lbs now). He is very excited to try it out at auntie helen's pool - maybe this weekend?

And the big surprise of the day was bumping into dh as I came back to my office from getting some coffee downstairs - he had dropped off a dozen red roses for me! I am surrounded by the lovely scent and they look very good on my desk!

Now here is a pic of big ds from his recent trip to Toronto! Such a happy camper (turning 20 on Sunday!!!): http://community.webshots.com/slides...584&key=hyiPvo

He says he wants driving lessons for his bday present (yes the only male above 16 who still does not have a license)! So I have a place in mind I will call - claims he will be buying his own car soon - but that's a whole other story!:dizzy: (and insurance will be WAY cheaper if he has taken driver's ed).

Still have to finish up a couple of things before I head home - but had to take dd to dance rehearsal for 6 pm - so not much time for me! UGH!

Frouf

sauniemay 06-06-2006 05:55 PM

Frouf, you've got a good looking kid, congrats again.

Sandra, got the lyrics memorized, you're the leader.

Vickie, you're on your way, you can, you can.

Melissa, time to get out of there. You were on such a positive note, read those government posts.

Kathy, I can still smell your barbeque. I bet you had fun.

Cleaning lady is still here. (came at 2:00) My previous cleaners brought their own tools, so I discovered that my Hoover is busted. Ran out and bought a Bissell upright. It wasn't very expensive, but works well and had really good reviews on line. In the past, I've spent so much, and they still break down. Any how, cleaning lady will come back next week and then every other week after that. I'll have to start accepting the WW shifts to pay for this.:D

Dinner time, so I'll go see what's avaiable, I'm hungry!

ontarget 06-06-2006 06:07 PM

frouf, big ds is a doll. he's a very good-looking young man. thank you for sharing the photo.

saundra, wish i had a housekeeper. i'm pouting here right now. you're a lucky woman. how about those gazenias? i saw some on the net (i think?). are they kind of like daisies? do they smell like gardenias?

sauniemay 06-06-2006 06:19 PM

Sandra, I haven't really smelled them. They ARE like daisies. They wilt and die, and I cut them back and then they'll come back. I'm just so happy to see them in full bloom when the sun is shinging. I got two varieties, one bright yellow and one yellow and orange. Also, my day lillies are showing signs of flowers. Isn't life good?

Katpo 06-06-2006 06:29 PM

So remember my friend I was telling you about? The one who might starting doing Core? She decided to go ahead and do it and (I think) started yesterday. She said she's going to read and might try and get up her nerve to register and post but meanwhile, say hello to Melanie!

 Hey, Melanie!!!

Katpo 06-06-2006 06:31 PM

Frouf, Joel is such a cutie! I know you're very proud of him and I'd be saying WOOHOO if he wants to drive and/or buy a car. Think of how much easier YOUR life will be when you can quit the roadie crew!!!

I have to go make some dinner now but will be back in a little while.

ontarget 06-06-2006 06:46 PM

hi there, melanie. jump right in with us. we're anxious to meet you.

saundra, yes, life is good. i'm starting to have honeysuckle flowers as well as roses. my annual pots look pretty good, too. color!! that's what it's all about, right?

nurseinnc 06-06-2006 06:58 PM

Good evening everyone. I hope you are all having a nice evening so far. Craig just left for work so it is just the dogs and me tonight. I guess I should use the opportunity to clean a little.

Melissa, sorry to hear about your job. I hope you can find something new soon.

Froufie, your son is very cute! I have a 21 year daughter. She has really surprised me this summer by going to Gulfport, MS and working in my sister's medical clinic all summer. My sis is leaving the area, too much damage from Katrina, and needed some extra office help so Melissa went down there and has really been a great help.

Kathy, that is great news about being able to wear regular shoes. I have never had to wear a cast or splint but I don't think I would like it at all. Oh and for your friend...... Hi Melanie!

Vicki, good news that the scale went down a little today. It is very frustrating, especially when you are trying so hard. Don't give up!

I weighed this morning and am still the same. I think I do better when I go to the meeting every week. I am going to start going back and I hope and can talk Craig into going back with me.
Guess I will go see what is on TV or maybe I will go do a little cleaning. Bye for now.

Vickie 06-06-2006 08:01 PM

Hey Chicks! It's almost 7 pm and I'm done with dinner. Jim is cleaning up so I asked for a couple of minutes to come say hello to you all.

Sandra, I LOVE your song. I'm guessing we all would be laughing and singing on that wagon, wouldn't we? It would be alot of fun!

Frouf, what was the occassion? I actually hope it's nothing and that DH just knows that he needs to start working at making you feel more special. Ohhhh....you got webshots and it works SO great. Are you now a computer Froufie? Joel is a great looking young man and he is SO happy and proud. As well he should be! Maybe we'll all be able to say we kinda knew him when......
I think jetskis sound like a ton of fun. Tell you DH that I need mine to support more than 80 pounds! ;)

Saundra, are you happy with the cleaning? There's nothing nicer than a fresh house cleaned all at once. I bought an Oreck the last time because the Kenmores that we kept buying from Sears just kept breaking.

Hey Kath....what was for dinner.

Melanie, please join us! We love new people because you are all so inspiring and motivating. We'll help all we can.

Thanks for the encouragement, Paula! I'm trying really hard.

Well, Jim is done and just told me so. I know that means that he wants me to come be with him. I'll have to come back in the morning. I'm proud of my success these last two days. Almost all Core food and withing my Flex guidelines. Now if only the scale will cooperate. I'm not going to worry what it says tomorrow morning, though, since I ate soy sauce tonight. I have orange dreamsicle to look forward to yet and I'm still under my 30 Flex points. Woo Hoo!!!!!!

Vickie 06-06-2006 08:03 PM

Melissa, I hope you're ok. I've been thinking about you alot since I read your post this afternoon. Don't let this derail you.

Katpo 06-06-2006 08:16 PM

Hey, friends! I just finished making dinner -- was sidetracked for a moment because I went to buy the final fairy gift ...

http://www.gocollect.com/images/Will.../300/26029.jpg

I think that'll be a great reveal gift, so I'm taking it to work tomorrow and giving it to the husband. They're inducing on Thursday and the fairy will be retired after that.

I made the turkey chili, and even though this isn't exactly chili weather, it's good filling food. Corn, pinto beans, ground turkey, diced tomatoes, chili powder, and then topped with however many sliced jalapenos you can stand. In Judd's case, that's a lot.

So now I'm starting the laundry and cleaning up the kitchen. I just worked on his sink and unstopped it (shaving cream, whiskers, toothpaste, and all sorts of assorted gunk) so that he could stop complaining that it drains slowly. The only other things I will have to do tonight is finish cleaning up the kitchen after everyone eats, wrap the gift, sweep the tile, one more load of laundry, and then I can rest. If I can finish by 9:00, I'll be happy.

Have I ever mentioned how I hate working all day then coming home to do more chores? Yep, I'm a complainer.

Froufy 06-06-2006 08:49 PM

Kathy - I think you should get the name of Saundra's cleaning lady and get her to come out and help (and I think Judd should 'ungunk' his own sink!)
...and I just love the last 'fairy' gift - how appropriate and touching - I know they will love it!

I was actually telling a co-worker/friend (at least we are now becoming very friendly - very nice lady and we get along so well) about all my (now funny) childbirth stories - she asked me later if I had ever thought of writing - and that I should definitely try and write it all down! ha ha ha (told her one day when we have lots of time I can tell her about the 55 guys I dated - yes a story for each one I'm pretty sure!).

Saundra - don't you love the smell and look of a fresh cleaned house (esp if you didn't have to do all the cleaning). Hope the new bissell lasts a long time. We have a Hoover rolling thing and I know dh has replaced the hose and connectors a few times now - so far so good!

Vickie - you are doing great and should be very proud of yourself - I know the scale will reward you for your hard efforts! Enjoy your evening and your dreamsicle.

Melissa - hope you are home now and destressing and forgetting about your awful day!

Just back from picking up dd from dance rehearsal and now the big ds calls for a ride to a friend's for a party after work (yes Sandra - Stonebridge!) so I shall soon be on the road again. And kathy - even if he does get a car (probably small and used) I know I will still be the official roadie as the stuff will most likely fit in my van and not in whatever vehicle he may own.

And I am very proud of him - and now we have reporters calling the house to interview him and I understand his pic is already on the school board website!!! (no not the first time for reporters and tv crew - when he was 15 he made himself the President of the Ontario Backyard Wrestling Federation (don't ask) and we had various tv and radio people calling here for interviews!!).

We will hopefully one day say we knew him when.....(when we drive by 24 Sussex Drive - the prime minister's residence - I always point it out to little ds and say one day Joel will be inviting us there for dinner - well you never know?)

Frouf

P.S. Just checked the schoolboard website for Joel's pic and of all the pics the teacher took (I have like a dozen or so) the one they posted is the same one I did - too funny!

septembersgoal 06-06-2006 09:18 PM

Hi you all. Thank you so much for your support. I'm sorry that I dumped on you all today. I was just on the verge of either crying or screaming at someone so I needed to release some affect.

Vickie, you are just the absolute sweetest. Thank you so much. I looked briefly at those listings but will go back and investigate more closely. It seems like doors close every time I try to do something different. Anyway, I really do appreciate your kindness, support and encouragement. You are a good friend. CONGRATS on staying under your points for today. YOu're really doing great.

Kathy, I LOVE that figurine. I have seen it many times and wished I had a baby so that someone would buy it for me. :) What a sweet gift! She is lucky to have you as her "angel."

Frouf, that Joel is a cutie! And he'll be 20 and has no license! Wow. I got married when I was 21. It sounds like you did well today at the restaurant. Good job!

Sandra, I am trying not to let today get me into emotional eating. More than anything I wanted a pizza or a big greasy burger when I left work but I came home and cooked. That is a major NSV for me. I just kept thinking about my rant and how I "proclaimed" that I would try to stop emotional eating. So I guess it was quite beneficial for me. :) I'm glad that you are getting some roses. I look forward to the years to come when I can plant a nice perennial garden.

aghiowa 06-06-2006 09:32 PM

Hi all! We finally got our vermiculite from the nursery, so we are in business! We mixed up a big batch of soil, filled our raised bed, and planted all our pumpkins, cantaloupes, and cucumbers. They were getting very tired of being in the greenhouse. This square foot gardening is going to be a dream...I can tell. I'm so excited. It's so much easier to plant in than our clay/rocky soil. We are getting a late start this year, but it'll be OK. The beds will be there for years to come.

I'm off to eat my supper finally...I stayed out gardening way past suppertime, and then I had to bathe the kids and feed them and get them into bed. I guess I'm glad I only ate 2 pieces of toast during that time. :)

Later,
Angela

ontarget 06-06-2006 10:35 PM

paula, i need to get back to meetings, too. i'm aiming at next week.

way to go, vickie. i'm proud of you.

kathy, that's a fantastic final fairy gift. i love it!

frouf, i'll buy your book. i hope you write it soon. you may be our erma frouf.

melissa, you rock, girl!!!! i am so proud of you. makes me smile.

angela, is your square garden sort of a raised garden? sounds neat.

HappyDaze 06-06-2006 11:31 PM

Hi Kathy and everyone.

Just sending a quick message before bed...this board (and site) looks to have a lot of great info! More at a later time.

Thank you for the warm welcome.

Melanie

nurseinnc 06-07-2006 06:09 AM

Good morning all, it is chilly in western North Carolina this morning! Craig has decided to go back to WW meetings with me so we may start tomorrow! I am looking forward to it. I stay on plan much better when I go every week.

Angela, we are doing square foot gardening now too. This is the first year we have tried it and so far I really like it. We are able to go out and pick enough salad greens everyday for a fresh salad!

Melanie:welcome2: this is a nice group for wonderful support.

Melissa, I hope you have a better day today and congrats on not getting pizza and hamburgers for dinner last night!

Have a nice day everyone. I am going to start laundry.

septembersgoal 06-07-2006 08:58 AM

Morning everyone. Today is off to a better start because my boss isn't coming in today. :) I know that's terrible, but it really does make for a better working environment. Unfortunately I have to work late tonight, and that always makes for a difficult suppertime. :crossed: that I can keep myself together.

Paula, I think that's so great that you and your husband are going to meetings together. You're sure to be successful.

Sandra, thanks gf. :D

Angela, your garden sounds so great. I need to read about sf gardening. I've heard of it but don't know much about it.

I hope that you all have coreiffic days. :dust:

Mattandgabbysmom 06-07-2006 09:38 AM

Good morning, hope everyone is doing well, another rainy day here in NY got drenched getting ds on the school bus. I am going to the aquarium with my ds kindergarten class on friday, looking forward to that (as you can see I lead a very exciting life) :o Not much more going on, I have been op which is real surprising, I don't have any desire to cheat, I think core is really for me.

Paula, that is great that your husband is going with you, what great support, good luck to you both.

Vickie, you seem in better spirits, good for you, your menu looks great

Kathy, what a great gift, she is really going to be surprised when you tell her it is you.

frouf, i'll buy your book too! Handsome son you have, I just can't picture my ds becoming a man and wanting to drive, he is my little boy.

melissa, soo glad your boss is not in today, when I was working, I loved when the boss wasn't in, made the day alot easier. good luck with your dinner choice.

angela,I am going to have to look into sf garden, I have so many weeds because of all this rain, it is even raining today and I believe the rest of the week, I really need to get out there and weed!

Saundra, how was the manicure & pedicure. My husband bought me a spa package for Valentines day 2 years ago and I have not used it yet, thank goodness it doesn't expire.

Melanie, welcome!!

Hi Sandra, going back to the meetings is a great idea, it definitley keeps me on track.

Hi Rose

aghiowa 06-07-2006 10:03 AM

Good morning ladies! I'm bound and determined to be good today. :) Going grocery shopping, so I can get lots of fruits and veggies. I think my main problem is letting myself get too hungry. Then, I just seem to reach for those simple carbs so I can get full fast. I tend to get hungry less than 3 hours after lunch, so I really need to watch myself. I need a "preemptive" snack or something.

Square foot gardening is cool - just google the name, and you should come up with a couple billion websites explaining it.

We're headed to the library today to get the kids signed up for the summer reading program. See Niki, my life is almost as exciting as yours!

Later ladies,
Angela

Mattandgabbysmom 06-07-2006 10:10 AM

Angela I am going to the library tomorrow to get my son signed up,ooohh I don't know if I can handle all this excitement :D

Katpo 06-07-2006 10:13 AM

Good morning!! And Melanie! WOOHOO! :welcome: Jump right in, girlie!

Well, I dropped off the last fairy surprise this morning. I was sort of sad to see it come to an end but I'm sure they're ready to have this baby! Tomorrow's supposed to be the day.

We have a work thing tonight and I'm not sure what the food is supposed to be so I'll have to edit my menu later on. I got here a little late though, so I'd better get crackalackin' before they get out the belt.

Melissa, I hope you have a very good boss-less day.

sauniemay 06-07-2006 10:29 AM

:bravo: Welcome Melonie, you're at a very good space here.

Niki, I bet that the aquarium in NY is outstanding. Did you see The Squid and the Whale, The aquarium is a part of the movie. Hope you have lots of fun there.

Melissa, glad you're boss isn't there to bug you. Remember though, you've got to look into new employment. You're such a bright young woman.

Kathy, the figurine is lovely. We used to sell them at our store. It is perfect as the reveal gift. I can't wait for the reaction.

Frouf, I used to think that my middle guy would be PM material. He was on the Scool Reach team when they won Eastern Ontario and he won a trip to Japan which was sponsored by a large newspaper there. Low and behold he's a senior policy maker at Agriculture! Of course, his best achievement is Natan.:) :)

Vickie, hope you had a good night's sleep. You're probably on the board as a type.

Sandra, I heard a story on our public radio today about a wolf that went from Alberta to Montana, and though about you. Too late to look for him, he came back to Alberta.

Bernie is off today, so we're doing the out and about thing. Nice and sunny as we speak. Great day to all!

Vickie 06-07-2006 10:34 AM

Good Morning Chicks! I'm a little late today. I got up early, again, but I've been surfing for shoes, purses, and bathing suits. I forced myself to try on some summer work dresses that I had left to see if any of them would be ok for me to wear to the christening. I was shocked that 3 of them fit. They are pretty classic syling so I think any one or them will be ok. So I need shoes and a purse. I ordered a pair of bone heels from Shoebuy.com. I had a 15% off coupon so I got them delivered, no shipping and no sales tax for less than $36.00. I don't mind if I only get a couple of wears out of them. http://www.shoebuy.com/sb/s.jsp/r_pr...1/sbstl_335597

I'm going out as soon as I shower to shop at Bath and Body Works/White Barn candle company and Lane Bryant. Both places are having huge sales. I have a gift certificate from my birthday for White Barn Candle company that I'm VERY excited about. Lane Bryant is having their semi-annual bra/panty sale which is buy 2 get 2 free. I don't know if you remember that I told you all that they have the MOST comfortable bras ever. My Sister had been telling me to buy them for years and I resisted. I almost cried in the dressing room when I tried them on and they were so comfortable. I love the seamless microfiber ones. Then it will be on to Fashion Bug Plus for me. I still need some capretties and some nightshirts. Maybe they'll even have a purse there. I have a $25 gift certificate from there too and a coupon that I got off the internet that will save me $20 if I make a $50 purchase and use my Visa card. NO problem! I could get $50 worth of stuff for only $5 out of my pocket. Woo Hoo! Too bad I don't like my body so much right now...but oh well!

Jim will be staying home to wait for the pool guy who still didn't show up yesterday because his truck is STILL broken. Hellooooooo.....the pool season is VERY short in Chicago especially when you don't have a heater.

Ok, let me see what's up with all of you!

Mattandgabbysmom 06-07-2006 10:41 AM

Very pretty shoes Vickie, I am going to have to see if the Lane Bryant by me is having the same sell, I could really use some new bras.

sauniemay 06-07-2006 10:45 AM

http://im1.shutterfly.com/procserv/4...102AbtXDhm1aMX

I'm just trying this out, a picture of DS doing the 10K, his first race.

sauniemay 06-07-2006 10:48 AM

Vickie, the shoes are perfect. They look confy and dressy at the same time. I wound up finding a bra at Walmart (Warner's ) that I like. I bought one sable and one white. My sister is into getting fitted and spent over $100.00 for a special one.

Vickie 06-07-2006 10:48 AM

Kathy, the statue is GREAT! I can't wait to hear what they say when they find out that you were the fairy.

Frouf, I'd buy your book too but I'd like to have an autographed copy please!

Oh Melissa, please don't apologize for venting! I do it ALL the time and never think twice about it. We are here to support and what you went through yesterday could well have derailed your eating plan. I can tell you that I'm filled with admiration for you that you stayed on program yesterday despite all the stress. I'm happy that your boss isn't in today. Do you have a plan for dinner? This would be one of those nights that it would be nice to have some lo's in the freezer.

Ok Angela, I don't even like to garden and you're getting ME excited! Maybe I could handle some square foot gardening. I have a raised bed but it doesn't have good soil in it. I think the former owners used it for a garden. It's probably at least 12 feet x 6 feet. I keep saying maybe next year when I'm thinner. Bending over right now isn't too comfortable.

Paula, I'm happy for you that Craig is going to go to meetings with you. I need to attend regularly as well. I haven't gone for a couple of weeks now and I miss the support. Jim won't go with me. He has no interest, probably because he's such an introvert. He doesn't sabotage me although he can be a bit of an enabler sometimes.

Niki, I think your life sounds JUST right for a young woman your age. Enjoy your kids now. I hear they grow up VERY fast.

Saundra, enjoy your day with Bernie! Jim and I like going out and doing stuff during the week when everyone else is working. I'm sad that he has to stay home today. I'm thinking he's happy that he won't get dragged through the mall by me. AND.....he won't have to answer the dreaded...."Does this make me look fat?" question.

Melanie, :welcome3: to our little corner of the world! These are the best bunch of supportive women around. I'd have given up long ago if it weren't for them.

Vickie 06-07-2006 10:56 AM

Ok....so you know I'm on day 3 of weighing and measuring and I think I found a part of the problem. I've been serving myself what I always eat so I can see what I was eating as compared to what I should be eating. Does that make sense? Anyway, I've been eating about 1 1/2 cups of shredded wheat and bran (4 points); the serving size is 1 1/4 cups so not bad. And, I thought 8 ounces of milk but it was actually 12! I generally eat a medium banana on there which is another 2 points. So, when I eat my cold cereal it was costing me about 9 points. Alot more than my oatmeal and fruit which was costing me about 5.5 or 6 points. Hmmmmmm......

I guess I'll have to eat more oatmeal and less cold cereal. Maybe I could make do with less milk. I wish I could say that the cold cereal was keeping me way fuller than the oatmeal but I don't think it does. I'll have to pay more close attention. Sigh.

Vickie, there's a TV program that runs every now and then about square foot gardening. They say that ANYONE can do it...even those in wheelchairs. They suggest putting your square on top of a rotating restaurant-type table. That way, the garden is at a good height, and there's no bending over. I thought that was ingenious for people who have mobility problems. I don't imagine you have that much trouble bending over, but you could raise your bed up on a low table, so all you'd get is a nice calf stretch when you work on your garden. :) Plus, you can make it as small as you want - just big enough for a square of lettuce, a tomato plant or two, and some peppers. Or whatever fresh veggies you like. It's really the soil mix that I think is beautiful...it's 1/3 vermiculite, 1/3 peat moss, and 1/3 compost. Goregeous! The stuff is like gardening in butter.

Time to go grocery shopping, later ladies!

Vickie, I was looking for a pumpkin pie recipe, it is my ds favorite and I found yours. It calls for 12 ounces of ff evaporated milk, all I have is skim milk is that ok, should I use 12 ounces of skim or less. Thanks

Niki, I don't know the answer for sure, but I found this about evaporated milk:

Evaporated milk is fresh, homogenized milk from which 60 percent of the water has been removed. It is then chilled, fortified with vitamins and stabilizers, packaged, and finally sterilized. Standards require whole evaporated milk contain at least 7.9 percent milk fat and 25.5 percent milk solids. The high heat process gives it a bit of a caramelized flavor, and it is slightly darker in color than fresh milk. The evaporation process naturally concentrates the nutrients and the calories, so evaporated versions are more calorie filled and nutritious than their fresh counterparts. When mixed with an equal amount of water, it can be substituted for fresh milk in recipes.

It seems to me that you'd have to use less skim milk in order to keep the "liquidity" the same. But I don't know the ratio. If I were you, I'd get some evaporated milk before trying the recipe. But if you do get it to work with skim milk, let me know how you did it... I'd be interested to know.
