I didn't get the beet horseradish made so now its tomorrow.

We went to Bob Evans. I had fried chicken breast he had grilled. After that we went to Goodwill. I bought a Cuisinart fry pan and an exercise dvd. He bought blank cds for recording music. When I want to make chicken at home he tells me he doesn't like it. I guess he just doesn't like the way I make it.

Mad, I hope your foot is ok.

Fatmad, I hope your foot will be okay. I find it so easy to get scrapes and scratches I don't even know how they happen. I had a scrape on my left foot which I don't remember happening, but DH doctored it and it is fine. Last night I fouCnd a place on my left arm which I don't remember hurting, but DH says it is because of the blood thinner that is in the chemotherapy medicine they are giving me. Thank God Monday will be the last time I will have that one. I hope your doctor's appointment goes well.

Carol Sue, I've never been much of a horseradish person, but I love hearing of your traditional foods. We don't seem to have any traditional foods that we eat. I would love to have some ham for Easter, but not with the swelling I am having. Perhaps that will be something I will look forward to having when my life gets back to normal.

I told DH that I should have stayed on low carb while on this chemotherapy that I've been having because the main reason I did low carb was to keep swelling down. I may talk to him about cooking just meat and veggies for me for the next 3 weeks starting Monday so I might be able to keep some of the swelling down. I think the main reason I didn't do low carb in the beginning because I could not eat in the beginning and it was important to eat whatever I could eat and keep down. I've been reading on Livestrong about how to eat, but they don't say too much about low carbing.

Have a good evening everyone.

Trish, my family didn't have any particular traditions for any holidays. I think it is mostly done by the Eastern Europeans, like Polish, Slovak, Hungarian etc. If I hadn't married DH I would not do this. After his mother passed away I wanted his step children to have the traditions they remember from their grandmother.

I don't know if its important that you eat low carb but that you get nutritious food. Meat and vegetables should be good.
I have learned about chemo from you. I always knew there were different kinds and I guess the side effects are different for each. I'm sorry you have had to go through the harsh treatment but if it gets rid of the cancer that's what matters. I'm sorry you have had to deal with the swelling. I pray for the day this is over and you are well again.

God answers prayer.

Scale stayed the same today.

We went to the store and bought our ham. I was lucky they had one small one left. I also bought milk for the Easter cheese and a dozen eggs. I wanted 2 dozen but they were $2 more than they are in Wal-Mart but it wasn't worth it to use the gas and time to go to Walmart. I like when we go early and get home early.

My blood sugar has been running lower lately and I hope it lowers my A1c in June. I think that is helping me sleep better and helping control my heart rate. Not only am I reducing carbs but I'm also utilizing my meds better.

HI everyone: had our Good Friday fish and chips and it was wonderful. DH doesn't like the fish from this restaurant (the only one in town that has GF) because it is pickerel. He prefers cod or haddock.
I like the flake in this one. The place he likes is out of town and they were sold out two weeks ago, no seating and no more take out.
we did takeout today, but it was not really hot when we got home. SO I popped everything in the air fryer for 8 minutes and its perfect.

Tomorrow would have been my father's 92 birthday. I still miss him terribly. I know it was really hard for you when your Daddy died Trish.
I feel blessed to have had parents who were so loving and wonderful that I miss them a lot. For some reason I am thinking of them a lot. Whether it is the Easter season, or Dad's birthday, or what, but they are in my mind.

Scale is up a few tenths again. My fault. I had ice cream.

We had fish at Rodneys. We recently found another local place that has good fish. There are 2 places I like that DH does not like. One he likes but does not like the traffic involved in getting there. The other we can go to other times when he can order something else. I love fish, any kind prepared any way.

We bought a very small ham for us but now step daughter wants some so DH went to buy another half. I like to slice it down and freeze it for later. I can eat ham any time but DH only likes it on the holidays. Today we will make the Easter cheese then I will do laundry the rest of the day. I also have to make potato salad to take to step sons but I will cook the potatoes and eggs tonight and mix it tomorrow morning.

I love hearing y'all's plans for the holiday. DS and I were talking yesterday about Easter and she asked me if Mama ever decorated eggs with us our hid them from us etc. We don't remember her doing any of those things with us. We did them with our kids but she never did.

Carol Sue, I love ham any time of year and I think that is why. Mama only cooked turkey for Tharnksgiving and Christmas. She cooked roasts and ham whenever DaddyF wanted it.

Fatmad, I do miss my Daddy. I miss Mama but I guess having Daddy for so long helped with losing her. She has been gone 31 yrs this coming September. Daddy being gone is still fresh so we miss him a lot.

I started back on low carb yesterday. I think that is the only way to try to get some of the swelling down. DH complains because he doesn't know how to cook low carb, but I told him to ask me. I start my day drinking a protein shake and then have meat and veggie with fruit cup for dinner. Today I will have a pork chop and boiled zucchini.

Have a nice day everybody.

Trish, tell DH he just needs to cook meat or fish and vegetables and add any carb sides for himself. That's how I cook for DH and I.

When I was a kid we got an Easter basket from Easter bunny with candy and colored eggs but we didn't have an egg hunt and we didn't have it for our kids. I don't remember what we ate for dinner on Easter. I don't remember my mother ever cooking a ham. I love it but DH says it raises his blood pressure. The only holiday I remember having a special meal was turkey at Thanksgiving. I remember being sick one year with an ear ache and laying on the couch while everyone ate turkey dinner.

My father has been gone for 66 years,,when I was 11. My mother has been gone 47 years. I think losing you parents is harder the longer you have them with you.

I was very busy all day. We made the Easter cheese, then baked the ham. Then I decided to make the potato salad today which was a mistake. My refrigerator is the perfect size for us but not for having all this extra food. I managed to fit it all in there.

I also dried a load of clothes I had washed yesterday. I will do towels tomorrow before we go to step sons. I'm glad I don't have to do any cooking tomorrow.

Happy Easter to all! Observe it in your own way!

Scale up a couple tenths probably from the sodium in the ham. Sleep was poor for the same reason. I only get ham a couple times a year.

I didn't wash the towels. Tomorrow is another day. We are not out but the towel hamper is full.

We will go to step sons around 2 but they probably won't eat until 4. I still don't know what they are serving so I hope its something DH will eat.

Just relaxing with a good book until its time to leave.

We are back home. We had a nice visit and a nice dinner, ham kielbassi, and good side dishes.

I am headed out for chemotherapy #3 today. The nice thing about it is that it is the last one of this tough one for now and hopefully the last one ever. At least that is what I'm praying for. I didn't sleep as well as I do with sleeping pill but didn't take one since I had to get up early. I hope you slept well, Carol Sue. Sounds like things went well at you step sons for dinner.

Have a good day and I'll try to check in later if I feel like it.

Trish, I'm praying that your chemo session goes well and is the last one.

I had a bad night and a bad day has followed. DH kept waking me up. First he said the phone rang one ring. I didn't hear it. We have a VCR/DVD combo in the bedroom and it turned on by itself twice. He woke me up both times to tell me. After we got up it turned on again so we unplugged it thinking it is a wiring problem. Its old and we don't use it. So I'm very tired. Then we went out for breakfast then to Wal-Mart and Goodwill. When we go out for breakfast I'm very rarely hungry for dinner and so DH is on his own. He got take out from somewhere, I don't even know where or what. I'm just tired and can't wait til bedtime.

Carol Sue, I'm sorry you had a bad night and day. Hope tonight will be much better.

We got to oncology and they took me right in for labs and then I saw my education team nurse instead of the doctor. I saw her talking to several of us and I think that she did that because she is having surgery next week with the same onccology surgeon to see what is going on with her to see if she has cancer. I told her I would I would be praying for her that she does not have cancer. I pray she will not go through what I am going through. She seems too young.

I have one more chemo and am praying I will have surgery after. She said chemo is usually 4 weeks later so I may be having surgery the week step son and his family will be here. I spent most of the time in the bathroom peeing all the time. I think that happened because I had b een doing a week of low carbing and today my body spent the day losing the fluid as it was going in today. Then when I came home, I slept all evening.

Have a good evening and night and can sleep tonight.

Trish,I think maybe your body is finally releasing some of the fluid its been holding for so long and hopefully taking some toxins with it. I think that's a good sign.

Last night I had a dream that I was in the hospital and it was filthy dirty! I was thinking that I will never go to that hospital again. Our hospital is small and we always liked it but it recently merged with another hospital system. So we don't know what changes will occur. Our hospital serves a community with many senior citizens and its too small to accommodate everyone. Always crowded.

I didn't get on the scale because I'm retaining so much fluid from the ham. I'm finally tired of it. I had my last ham sandwich today. DH cut up the rest of the ham. I packaged it in sandwich size portions and froze it so I can have a sandwich now and then. I won't buy ham again til Christmas.

Everyone liked my potato salad on Easter. Step son is looking forward to taking some in his lunch and his MIL took some home. DIL tried to eat some but she still can't eat mayonnaise since covid. Its,been 2 1/2 years and she has been able to add some foods back. She can eat chicken and pork but she has to let it cool. She cannot eat it hot.

Carol Sue, I hope you don't have to go to the hospital, but hope it is a good one if you do. I was hungry for ham but didn't think I should have it because of the sodium. Seems it was a good choice for me to make.

Fluid is still off today. I am going to the potty quite a bit today so hopefully it is coming off already. It will be very helpful if I can get the fluid off that I was retaining before and I'm sure the semi low carb along with the 2 Lasix every other day is helping too. I actually am taking it 3 days a week instead of every other day.

I ate realy good today. I drank a protein shake for breakfast. We had left over beef roast, potatoes, carrots and I decided to eat a small portion of broccoli to see if it would flow through and DH cut up some strawberries and added a few blueberries with cool whip and I drank a small helping of whole milk. I eat very small helping of each food instead of larger amounts because stomach still doesn't hold a lot of food. Later I will have 2 scrambled eggs and a serving of low carb ice cream. That will be it for the day. I drink water, and diet ginger ale or diet root beer throughout the day to stay hydrated.

So it has been a good day so far.

I hope everybody else will have a good day.
