lambchop - Wow! an 8 mile run. I get winded just walking a mile, lol. Maybe try and plan ahead for that upcoming vacation, keep active and try to make good choices each meal.

Jackie - I hope everything is ok your way and you are safe. Nice to meet you.

wlw - Way to get through those weddings and being around the ex's girlfriend. And I think it's perfectly fine to gloat a bit at how good you are doing.

I went to the Renaissance Festival today with friends and had a great time. We covered a lot of ground just walking around and browsing the shops in between watching the Joust and all the live theater. I figure I walked over 2 miles. The weather was great, the company was good, and I treated myself to a pinky ring with beads and a tiny bell on it and a gargoyle pendant.

Hydra: good to see you back! they have an awesome renaissance festival in texas in october, you're right it's lots of walking! and it was horrendously hot the year I went, no surprise in tx. loved it though! I could really spend some money there if I had it.

Deb: I am soo impressed at how far you've come with the running!

I wanted to post this link, saw this on the Today show and was amazed. Really explains why americans as a whole eat too much and are overweight. I thought my 50% rule when I go out to eat was a way to combat overeating at a restaurant, but apparently that's even too much!

I hope everyone has a fun, safe, and healthy holiday!

Hi Deb - yes i love the travel. The only bad bit really is feeling guilty about not being around for my husband enough. He's a sociable type and doesn't really like being on his own in the house too much.

Just back from 8km run along the riverside this morning! Not quite as good as your 8 miler but it was fun (i'm a 1.5hr flight away from home up in Brisbane for a conference at the mo)

Hey All!

Hurricane Earl surprised us and instead of coming ashore on the other side of the province...decided to hit only 50km from where I live. Needless to say we lost power for a few hours and our gazebo is no more. However we are all safe and sound (and still on track!) and that's what counts.

Jeez...after reading all the posts about running, I'm almost thinking I should take it up! I'm feeling kinda left out. lol And I'm NOT a swimmer either. I'm more of a bike and cross country ski gal.

It's almost 11pm here and my brain is begging for sleep. Tomorrow is my weigh-in and I don't think I have ever been so eager to actually see those numbers. I'll be back early in the a.m.

Hope everyone had a great weekend!!

Thanks for the kind remarks. I am a bit slow in responding but please forgive me. We have not been around, we went camping and boating for a week.

Deb and other runners. I have a goal to start running. I do about 2-5 minutes at a time and die. My lungs seem to take a big hit ( I don't smoke or have asthma). I normally will be doing a fast walking program and then throw in some running, trying to change the intensity levels.

Question about running- should I be worried about my knees? Is it normal to have your lungs die when running and out of shape?

I read a great post in 3FC tonight. Many of you may have seen it but search on 3FC for:

Here It Is! My Big Weight Loss Secret!!!

I love the reality that is posting brings to the table. There is no quick fix. If you read through the entire article a mention about weight loss being much more about diet than exercise. I also heard that same comment from one of the personal trainers at the gym. Along that line, I am going to start writing a food journal.
Question- Anyone about to recommend a good food journal?

Have a great week!!!

yvette

Default Foodfighter Good Day

Hi, All. I haven't been on for a few days, and I am so happy to read all about you. I find your stories of exercise and eating healthy, small successes and setbacks and staying positive very inspiring. I feel like I am getting to know you, and hope that I can be part of your group. That said, I want to share some things about myself.

My name is Jacqueline, and I am 47 years old. I have been married to my longtime lover (15 years) for 3 years, and have a Yappy Little Dog named Precious Muchacho. Two years ago, my precious daughter died just shy of her 21st birthday, almost taking me with her. I stopped eating, stopped going places, seeing people, thought I would stop breathing if I didn't will myself to do so.

When I began to get better, I found I couldn't tolerate food. I am now gluten intolerant, am plagued by binge/starve behaviors, and have to teach myself how to eat and live again. That's why I'm here. I can't do it by myself, and it's only by writing my blog and learning about myself and learning from others that I feel that I can overcome my eating disorder and stop fighting food.

Thanks for being here.
Jacqueline

Hi, all. Lots of new people--that's great--I hope to get to know all of you. I'm not going to try to catch up on the umpteen posts I've missed; I'll just be going forward from here, so bear with me as I get into the swing of things.

I know it's been a while since I last posted--the summer just got too busy for me and something had to give. Unfortunately, what gave was my diet plan and my determination to stick to it.

I'm pretty much back to were I started from--aarrghh!--and my window of opportunity is short before the holidays start, but I want to do what I can. If I don't, it will just be that much worse after the holidays.

Today, I have to kick the daily sugar habit, and get back to my once a week treat schedule. This is going to be a rough week. I'm off to exercise, so that's one important step in the right direction.

Have a great and motivated day.

P.s. Jacqueline, I am so sorry for your loss.

I got home Friday and weighed... 178. Thought it would be worse.
182 this morning, not sure how that happens. I'm not very happy with my digital scale.

No binging since last log in!

Hi friends! I'm finally checking in after the long weekend. I spent all of it until yesterday out at fiance's, then came home and mowed the lawn and worked more on getting the new place organized. I really wanted my son/sons to help with the mowing, but we are supposed to get rain and I wanted to get it done. Don't want my neighbors to be sorry I moved in!! I am so happy....it really is HOME now. Still have lots of boxes to deal with, but it is on its way!!

Foodwise....it was an okay weekend. I ate things that aren't normally on my plan, but I did well balancing out the rest of the time. We had a fish fry on Sunday and it was delish!! I even went back for seconds. I also had pizza and pulled pork sandwich. I think I was up about 1/2 pound this morning....nothing lots of water won't take care of.

I found an apple tree with lots of ripe apples on it at fiance's place. I used some of them to make a wonderful apple dessert/cobbler/cake I came up with. Everyone loved it! I still have lots of apples to deal with and plan to bring some to work for anyone that wants them. We joked around that we can claim they are 100% organic.....we didn't fertilize, spray for insects or anything!! We got lucky. There is a tree full of pears there, but not sure they are going to be worth fooling with....I'll check them next time I'm out there.

Finally got back to exercising this morning, after almost 2 weeks off. It felt so good!! 3 miles of Walk Away The Pounds Boot Camp. Loved sweating it up!! I'm glad things are returning to normal in my life.

You all are doing great!! Love that we have so many here to support each other.

Hydra and OMW - nice to see you guys again!

WLW - I like your new avatar photo - pretty dress!

Quick drive by post from me. Our weekend visitors left on yesterday and I'm back at work. Still lots to clean up and organize at home though. I got in a hike and a run over the weekend but had an attack of the lazies yesterday afternoon after they left. Am walking with a friend tonight to get back on track.

Will catch up and write personals later....

Jacqueline...I am happy that you feel comfortable to give us more info! So sorry about the loss of your daughter. I don't think anyone could fully understand what you went through/are going through.

Today is my weigh-in and I am down 2.2 pounds. Thought it would be more but as I think of it, I am battling a cold and TOM is within the week (and my "girls" always increase 2 sizes). Still on track with eating and I even made cookies last night at 10pm...didn't even lick the bowl! lol

Something really stupid happened today: I work with a girl who is always making comments about my food, or stating that I don't need to lose more weight, etc. (It's not like I'm anorexic or anything....) (BTW she has had weight loss surgery in the past. I don't know how much she did or didn't lose, but she is still a big girl. In fact before I started losing weight, people use to confuse the two of us.) I went to get my lunch out of the fridge today (I usually pack a big bag of salad that will last a couple of days) and it was gone. After double checking myself to be sure I hadn't left it in my tote bag, I found it in the trash. I suspected the girl I mentioned threw it away and guess what.....she did! Apparently she says she was cleaning the fridge out and thought it was old and needed to be thrown away. (It was freshly chopped/packed last night and today and didn't look at all old.) I'm really angry because fresh produce is not cheap. I don't care how she feels about my weight loss, but she better leave my food alone. (I should mention that she didn't throw anyone else's lunch away.)

Okay, I feel better.
