I bounced back up to 175 I know it has to be just water... still disheartening. I may be sticking around longer than I planned. Ah well will keep at it and keep losing

Well, this morning was the day of truth. My Monday weigh-in!
Even though I flubbered a little last week (foods that worked in the plan but were way too fatty and disgusting now that I think about it) I still lost some! Not as much as I was hoping for, but moving in the right direction.
Last Week: 181.2
This Week: 179.8
So now I am official enough to be here! LOL. Have an out of town horse show for four days this weekend, but planning meals to take with me, so hopefully next Monday will show more of a loss!

Stuck at 175 - going nowhere apparently! This was approximately my weight (+/- 5 pounds) for 5 years about 10 years ago. What if this is all my body has to give and I'll be 175 forever? Sorry to be Debbie Downer, but this stinks. I never eat over 1500 calories (ever - as in I have NEVER cheated) and I exercise at least 4 times a week on the killer elliptical - plus just running around more - more gardening, more trips on the stairs, etc, According to the most conservative calculator I could find I should be losing 1.5 pounds a week without adding in exercise. And here I sit with nothing There is a Sonic shake sitting in my freezer; it's been there for 3 weeks (grandparents took kids for shakes and it was BOGO - and they brought one back - aack) I haven't touched it; it's mocking me now...

Kuchick, I feel for you. Your body truly is adjusting right now, probably. You've really had a good run of some pretty steady losses up to now. I've been quite amazed. You're much smaller now and the weight is going to slow down. My weight loss went from 12 pounds per month to 4 pounds per month overnight. It has taken me a long time to come to grips with that. I've tried everything to shake things up and get things moving again, but four pounds per month it is.

The worst thing you can do, of course, is give in now. The scale will move if given enough time.

In the mean time, it's quite possible your body is really efficient at the elliptical now. You need to find something new to challenge yourself with. I love the "extras" you throw in to move more, especially the gardening. But maybe shake it up with jogging, jump roping (the kids would love that), strength training. I could suggest some great strength training workouts if you could purchase just an exercise ball and some hand weights (maybe 5lbs, 8lbs, and 10 lbs)

Thanks Eliana. I try to think that logically, my body can't just sit here forever. I did the crawl around the garden this weekend - I was laying landscape fabric around the garage in the high wind - ahhhh, the Kansas prairie! Then it was on to moving more landscape rock. The backfill is done, but the landscaping is an ongoing project. I'm pretty sore today, so I'm hoping that some is water weight. I think that my body is getting used to the elliptical, but then today, I was exhausted from it again. Either I'm sick or it's too humid here or I'm just run down from the weekend and various stresses. I've been doing 40 crunches on an exercise ball and I do have a couple 5 lb weights, but beyond a couple tricep exercises and bicep curls, I have no idea what to do with them. I'm thinking about getting a kettle bell to shake it up, too. I'm picturing it being used as a weapon by 3 crazy kids though. I had to hide the jump rope after the kids used it as a toy for the dogs to chase through the house - left a path of destruction in its wake And I have an old pilates DVD I used to use long ago - maybe I should concentrate on getting some abs under the layers?

Our kids sound a lot alike!! I have to hide scissors, dumbbells, the exercise ball, the dog's leash and most of all...the vacuum cleaner hose??? You just never know.

Here are some suggestions:
1. Rest your neck on the ball so that you are facing the ceiling and supporting your weight with your hips/legs. From here you can do pelvic lifts and arm presses at the same time. With the arms, hold the dumbbells so your palms face out and press toward the ceiling 15 times. Then position your hands so the palms face each other and bring the arms out to the side (fly) and then back up 15 times. Then with the palms still facing each other, press up 15 times. With each of these three moves you can lift the pelvis up and down. To make it harder, try lifting the pelvis then giving it an extra thrust at the top, then lower all the way to the ground. (Can I say that on 3FC? ) Basically from the ground: Lift, thrust, lower.

2. Leg lifts: Awesome for the abs. Lay on your back, hold the ball between the feet and left up toward the ceiling. After 12 reps, lower the ball just a little instead of a 90 degree angle maybe a 70 degree angle and hold. From here, concentrate on kicking the heels toward a corner in the ceiling for maybe 12 reps.

3. Hamstrings: Lie on the back with the heels on the ball, raise your hips/body off the floor. Using your heels on the ball, bend the knees pulling the ball in and then extend the knees again. This takes a lot of balancing.

4. Push-ups: Get into a push up position using the ball anywhere along the body for the support from your stomach all the way down to your feet. The further out toward your feet you go, the harder it will be.

5. Wall squats: Use the ball on your back up against the wall. Roll down the wall until you are "sitting" without a chair. Hold as long as you can. A minute is a great, especially if you repeat this three sets.

6. Planks: No ball required. Get in a push up position but instead of extending yourself up on your arms you rest on your elbows and hold this position as long as you can. Again, a minute is awesome, especially across three sets. Concentrate on keeping your rear low.

That's just a few of a my favorites. You can also google some great ones.

I've seen 174 two mornings now, and 173 this morning - but I know that was just my scale toying with my emotions. At least I now believe the 174. We'll see what happens tomorrow!

mortonpixie~ I'm sure you will see that 175 consistently soon!

kuchick~ I will tell you what I tell myself. Once I see it on the scale once.. I know that number will be true really really soon. (assumeing I don't binge) there is only so much water drop the body will drop below the normal level. So that number will be steady before you know it

Hey Girls!

So I've been bouncing between 175-178 for a while now with no idea what was holding me back. The up and down has been making me nuts!! BUT a few weeks ago I gave myself a good talking to and have been doing well. I got on the scale this morning and shocked myself! 172.6!!!! : I am soo close to leaving this decade that was so difficult for me. I did, however learn alot. I don't need to lose as much as I can as fast as I can. A respectable 1-2lbs a week, slow and steady is good. It gives me balance. Knowing that I can have a treat(cookie, slice of cake, pizza or ice cream on an occasion) keeps away the binge. That's a nice bit of weight off my shoulders. Maybe, just maybe by July 4th I'll be in a new decade, but I'll settle being on cusp of it, as long as progress is downward.

Have a good week!

I too am stuck in the 173-175 zone. I'm trying to push myself but the stress of it and other things make me want to snack 'till i drop....Not sure where the other 170's thread disappeared too but there is definitely strength in numbers! lol
