Hi guys,
yesterday was a wash. Today is new. I'm going to go VLC just to reel in the appetite and then go back to my new plan.

I'm calling it intuitive fasting. I will attempt to fast at least 16 and maybe more hours to gain the benefits of fasting. Then my window of eating will depend on the days needs....

This starts today.

FinallyThin Good for you. I'm glad you didn't let the wash out derail you. That is what I love about IF and IE. You will be fine. I think the reason I'm doing so well with staying within the 8 hr window is because I don't feel like eating with this crud I have right now. I'm just hoping that when I get well that I will be able to keep going with no problem... hoping by then it will have become a habit.

Hi Patti,
Well amazingly enough I had a very large window yesterday and ate quite a few nuts and was low carb, but not vlc and lost a pound. Ok that encouraged me. Today I'm going to fast as long as I can, and then I have soup and salad and cottage cheese with fruit planned for my meals. Since I'm doing the intuitive part, I'll just let my window close naturally...I like that

One day earlier this month I read this little ditty and I wrote it down. Then last night, as I was cleaning off my desk I found it! I think it is very appropriate for us coming off the Holidays!

"Giving up when you have a set-back is like slashing your other 3 tires because you got a flat tire"

Thinking....I may make this my signature on 3FC.

Hey Ladies!

You've all been so busy! I'm maintaining through the holidays at this point. I've been good at sticking to my 16:8 thus far, not losing, not gaining. I've also been keeping up with my runs for the most part as well

Today I had some crackers with cream cheese for lunch and some baked mozzarella sticks ( not the healthiest, but what the kids were having, so I went for some too). I'm cooking a massive meal for a NYE celebration with some friends... Puertorican pork and arroz con gandules (yellow rice with beans). I also made our staple drink of coquito with rum, which should make it even more interesting! hehe. Not worried tonight, seriously! Tomorrow will be a relax day and back at it on Friday with an early morning run

I hope everyone has a wonderful NYE and a prosperous 2015!

Happy New Year everyone! I wish there were more folks that posted in this thread. I would love to hear what people are doing. With that being said I tell you what I have been doing.

Originally I started out doing one meal with an hour time frame. Then coming here I learned others added more time like the 16:8 Recently my changes have included adding a snack at 4 pm---but to be honest I think that has been more of an act to stop the compulsive feeling...so not sure if I will change it. My meal then would be an hour or two later and I have been trying to increase protein and greens and eat less carbs. The last four days I have added a "beef stick" before bed to add protein for stamina (non hunger) for the next day. That is what I am doing right now....what I love the most is this eating plan is mine and I get to make changes as I see fit and if I make mistakes I can change it as soon as I see it as a mistake (and that is the biggest for me...if I screw up I don't have to go back to eating like a crazed fat woman!

That is it in a Readers Digest condensed version.

Happy New Year everyone!

Hi ladies! I have never been on this thread before. I wanted to see if someone could point in the right direction, or give me some info.

I have a coworker who does IF. I'm not close enough to them to really ask for much information, so I thought I'd come here. I've thought about doing IF before, but I'm not really sure how it all works. Could someone explain a little more to me? I'd really appreciate it.

Thanks!

Hi guys! It's a new year and I'm ready to tackle that last 15 lbs that has been hanging around. Here's my plan starting Monday: Alternate Day Fasting (500 healthy calories every other day) and on the other days, 90% healthy Eat to Live style diet (cooked/raw vegetables/fruit/beans, some nuts) 10% whatever I want. I've used intermittent fasting with success to lose weight in the past and I've used an Eat to Live style diet to lose weight successfully in the past. I figure alternating them will be extra-successful and also keep me from being bored!

Hi Madison81,,,

A big Welcome here! About your questions, I'm not the most qualified to answer them, but stick around, the peeps will be coming back from the holidays....I think most everyone is doing something different. There is a lot of variety and just finding what fits you is what to do. When you see a number like 16:8 that means fasting for 16 hours and having an 8 hour eating window. There are many different variations on the window plans.

Welcome newbies and oldbies....I don't think I am considered an oldbie cuz I haven't been around too long. But FinallyThin is right, we all seem to do our own thing--which is great! I enjoy taking tidbits here and there and then doing my own research. IF gives me many hours of freedom from compulsive eating.

Since doing IF, everyday I feel hungry. I am learning that being hungry won't kill me or won't hurt me and I will survive. I am still not able to say that being hungry is okay...cuz I don't like it! For today I am feeling it and going with the flow.

Be blessed, Cathy

I'm completely new to IF. So, I have a few questions for you ladies

I did 16:8 yesterday and was successful. Today, I only made it about 11. Is fasting every day, or is it a certain number of days per week?

During the fasting hours, it sounds like only liquids are allowed such as water, black coffee, tea?

Well,I have been reading up on IF and it does sound like there are various methods. I found two that sound the best fit for me. One is the 16:8 that I've heard a lot from you guys. The other is the "Up Day Down Day" method where one day is "regular" calories (which I need to start tracking more) and the next day is restricted to a vlcd between 350-500 calories for that day (approximately 20-30% of your "regular amount" of calories. This sounds pretty good to me, I think.

Hi Madison81,
I've heard the up/down is great and Nayla does the 16:8 and it works for her. I'm still working on my plan, but yesterday I managed a 6 hour eating window. I want a 5 at max window, but am working towards it, and not condemning myself for slipping up no and then. This is a process, I am hoping to make my lifestyle, because of all the health benefits with the fasting part.

Yes just coffee, tea, water, and if you want diet sodas,,,but those aren't too healthy. I can't wait till they start making them with stevia...
