I don't know if this makes you feel any better or not-but ladies usually "show" sooner and more so in the beginning than they did with their first babies. It is almost like as soon as the hormones hit, your body is like "Oh, I know what is going on....BLEEAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!" (gut just releases, and uterus plops forward into position in your pelvis...)

I didn't show much until I was 3 months with my first...and she was my biggest. With my son, it was around 2 months...and with THIS baby-I was sweatpants by 7-8 weeks pregnant (none of my regular jeans would zip), and FULL ON maternity clothes by 10-12 weeks pregnant.

If it makes you feel any MORE better...I am down to only 3 maternity outfits that fit-and I had a really, really cute maternity wardrobe this time around. One of the 3 outfits is really "pushing it". I am about to the point where that top doesn't fit-simply because my belly is so dang huge.

DairyFairy--Aphil is right. I too was looking way PG early on. Now I've tapered off a whole lot more and just growing a bit here and there. Hang in there. My anniversary date of finding out my last PG was a missed m/c is Aug. 4 and so far I'm holding up okay.

Aphil—Woohoo on making it to the 35 week mark. I keep thinking I'm not going to make it to the 37 1/2 week c-section date. I felt miserable all day yesterday and sleep is getting harder and harder to come by.

I hear both of you, and I'm only 29w4d! My belly has grown so much in the last month - it gets so tired and breathing is becoming an issue at times. I am trying to imagine another 10 weeks of this and getting even bigger and heavier. I have tons of maternity tops, but my "bottoms" are becoming more limited... sigh. Aphil, I can't believe your baby is just around the corner!

Well, ladies, I went to the doctor today. We saw one heartbeat. Then another. Natural twins. Can't believe it. The huge belly, trouble breathing, heartburn, and hunger all add up now. The doctor was so excited...she said she hadn't had natural twins in years and now she has me and another lady at the same time. It was so wonderful after the miscarriage to get one heartbeat, and two is just unfathomable. DH will have to kiss his pickup truck dream goodbye He's been waiting to get a truck for years and was going to get one in September when he paid off his xterra. I don't see fitting 3 carseats even in a king cab. Wow. I am totally dumbfounded!

I was right! Ha ha! I'm so happy for you, mama. Maybe your other baby just had to be included too.

I haven't slept well in about 3 days. I WISH WISH WISH I could fall back on some benadryl right now, because I have a horrible headache from the tossing and turning (maybe hormones, too). Everybody in the family is coming out of the woodwork to ask about the twin thing. My family has lots of fraternals, but MIL is convinced it is because of HER genetics. I hate to tell her identicals don't "run in families" and it is really doubtful her genetics caused me to make more eggs

Question: Anybody ever used cloth diapers? I can sew and have access to my mother's serger. I am thinking of going though 20 or more diapers a day during that stage when they fart and need a diaper change and I am knowing these chirren will not be Huggies babies. It will be target diapers (half price almost) or I am going to have to get crafty. I'd love to hear what you guys have heard/done about this.

Sara, Aphil, Dawn...hang in there.

Dawn, Sabra, thanks!

Mothering.com has some articles on cloth diapers if you do a search on the term. I know the fora at Amitymama.com have a lot of mamas who use cloth, and they have a forum devoted to the issue as well (I am pretty sure MotheringDotCommune does as well, but not 100% sure). I don't have any experience personally with cloth diapering, but I know that there are patterns out there for cloth diapers Cookie Pants has a whole page full of links, in fact; they're in the column on the right. I have in the past seen patterns for prettying up prefolds. The nice all-in-ones (AIOs) can run upwards of $13 each, so if you can manage to make your own, you'll save a lot.

If you are not familiar with Mothering magazine, they sell it in the magazine section at Borders bookstore-if you have a location near you.

I would definitely punch in "cloth diaper patterns" in your search engine online and see what comes up. I sew as well, and you could save a bundle, plus make some cute patterned ones as well with the right fabrics.

They actually don't look that hard to make at all (I use cloth diapers for burp cloths and went up to look at the design of them.)

Let us know what you find out about them.

Crack me up, BTW, about your MIL. Somehow when something good happens, they always think that it is *their* genes, huh? Same thing with the men who get mad when they find out the boy that they wanted is a "girl" and throw a hissy. (You have all seen the type...) I always love to inform them that it was THEIR sperm that decided the sex of the baby...all of our eggs are "the same" in that respect.

Susan-I am doing okay. I have had to take my exercise down a notch at this point due to early contractions the past few weeks, and the baby dropping. I am still teaching one dance class a week now on Monday nights (until they get the call that I am in labor/had the baby) from the 3 classes I was teaching up until a few weeks ago. I also recently had to stop strength training, but am still doing a little light walking, and a little prenatal yoga. Just enough to "stay moving some" the last few weeks of the pregnancy. I have stayed very active during the first 7 1/2-8 months of it, though...so I feel really good about that.
The baby will be here soon-and I will get pics up here, and in the forums I moderate, for everyone to see.

If having twins is as fatiguing as baking them, then the cloth diapers may give way to the el cheapo disposable. My house is a WRECK. I have had a headache for 2 days. I am wondering if it is dehydration, hormone surge, or just sleeping in a bad position since I am waking up so much to pee and waking up starving by 3 or 4 a.m. Tonight I am going to have some warm cocoa before going to bed and see if it helps me sleep and not wake up hungry. I am putting a gallon of milk and snacks upstairs just in case. I have consumed all but 650 calories of my daily allotment (2300) and let me say I have still starved every minute. I eat every hour, but i know if i eat more than something simple like an apple with pb or a banana or oatmeal then I will get sick and feel it coming up in my throat. I am still excited, but I am hoping this pregnancy, like most, will ease up in the second trimester so I can give my son plenty of attention and quality time...not just sitting and coloring, reading, doing puzzles, or watching t.v. Sedentary is all I can manage between the headache, nausea, and hunger. I hope y'all don't think I am being a nutjob keeping up with my calories, but I had really bad swelling with my first pg and I am worried if I gain more than reccommended I may have to go on hospital bedrest (she said i am guaranteed at least home bedrest) and I will be unable to see/care for my son all of the time. That would be the most stressful thing in the world, and I am trying to avoid it. I'll take advice, though

I've never used cloth diapers other than for burp rags. I did send you a PM though on a place to check out.

I've got about 3 1/2 weeks left and I'm beginning to wonder if I'll make it that far. I really want to since even at 3 1/2 weeks I'll only be 37 1/2 weeks. I had some swelling at my appt. yesterday (it was a 1+), I've gained 4 pounds in a week and although he said my BP was okay, I know it's gone up from being in the 100s-110s/60s-70s to 122/83. I saw a different doc since mine had to leave on an emergency. I sure missed him because he performed my c-section with Lilly and I've been with him ever since so he knows my history. This doc did tell me that if my BP goes up next week, I gain another 4 pounds in a week, or develop headaches, I may have to quit my job early, which I don't need right now. Hopefully it will resolve itself as long as I continue to get up and walk often at work and keep my feet propped up as soon as I get home.
