  • Yeah that is a good point about the headaches. I did have high blood pressure w/ my son, but it wasn’t until the last trimester. I had to go on half work days (which was fine with me), then bed rest and then they took him early. I’ll have to talk to my doctor about it.
  • I was so sick of laying on my left side trying to control my blood pressure with my son...I probably had sealy printed in my arm
  • Wow very busy around here. I got one of those Lovely *rolls eyes* summer colds that is kicking my butt. It is just miserable having one and being PG.

Aphil—It sounds like things may be progressing nicely. I did experience what you went through. That's the only labor I had because Lilly was posterior. I hated it because mine were pretty painful and after 3 trips into L&D was finally told why they hurt so bad, were consistent, and yet not dilating and/or effacing me was because she was sunny side up. That was 3 days before I had her. I started losing my mucous plug shortly after that and you are right, it is gross and disgusting looking.

As for the headaches, it is common to get them in the 2nd trimester due to all the extra blood pumping in your system. I got them so bad when I was PG with William the doc prescribed me migraine medicine. I got them this time as well but not near as bad. Luckily they haven't returned.

The rest of the update on me is I had another appointment yesterday and all is looking well. BP is good, I lost 2 pounds, no swelling, baby was reactive on NST, my blood sugars are okay. My lunch ##s are still high and I'm up to 16 units of Lispro before lunch. I have 2 more appts. and somewhere between 2 and 4 more NSTs. He didn't tell me when I would switch to going 2x a week for them. I can tell I'm nearing the end because I have been so moody and emotional and crying over every little thing. I have just over 2 weeks left (19 days to be exact.) Oh and the doc gave me my surgery packet to read over everything. This is the first time I got a packet to actually read over beforehand. It was really neat. He printed off 8 pages of information on c-sections the risks and advantages of having one and other alternatives. I have my pre-op appt. on the 23 where I'll actually sign my consent forms.

I'll feel much better when I get over this stupid cold.
  • Dawnyal it sounds like things are good. Two weeks wow, time sure does fly. I've had a cold for about a month and it just stays in my sinuses and changes symptoms every once in awhile. Right now I wake up every morning stuffed up and can't do much until I've had a shower to loosen and moisturize. It makes me gag and get sick. It's not nice. I hope you cold gets better soon. ANd the rest of your pregnancy goes smoothly.
  • Getting sick during pregnancy is the worst. You're scared to take anything and you're miserable to begin with.

About the crying...I don't do bawling for the most part, but I do these freakish whimpers like I am about to start bawling. They last for one or two breaths. This morning I started the whimpering about the terror plot. I've been whimpering at dumb stuff like commercials, too, though. I was totally emotional after my first child's birth, so they are probably going to want to put me in the psych ward after coming down from twin hormones.
  • Ok, we have decided on 4 names. If we have a boy and a girl, we will pick nmae 1 from each list.

    boys
1)Hayden Lane . I just like how manly Hayden sounds, Lane is my maiden name
    2) Theodore James- we wanted to do a name that meant a gift from God because we feel like the twin pregnancy is a way we got back the miscarriage. Anyway, Theodore means God's gift and is the male of Dorothy (DH's grandma whom we love)

    1) Molly Rose - Molly was my first friend, Rose was my mother's name
2)Gabrielle ?? DH likes Gabby...no middle name is decided. He suggested his mom's middle name, but with our history I feel like that is the wrong decision. DH agreed and said "a baby's name shouldn't be a white flag trying to get peace or acceptance." Well put, dear
  • How about your first name or middle name? Seems no one ever thinks to name the kids after Mama. (I guess 'cause we're the ones carrying them, it would seem a little vain? At least that's why I haven't had the cojones to do it.)
  • Well, I have a distaste for naming babies after living people. The grandma is a girl, so using the male version still allows him to "be himself." Middle names are fine for heritage names, though. I let the DH stick in a living uncle's name as a middle name since he fought desperately to have it be a first name. Our last name is brown...James does NOT work for me. I don't want my kid being asked if he "feels GOOOOOD" all the time. My mom DID name her first daughter after herself...Rose Marguerite. My poor sister then got stuck with "Marguerite". It's a fine name, but people can't seem to spell it that well. Love my mom to death, but she really sucked at naming kids. Thank GOD my sisters insisted on naming me. Mary may be plain, but it is better than Marguerite and a misspelled Alesia and Michell.
  • I too like the middle name idea. This baby would've had my middle name (which is also my mom's middle name) had he been a she—Kayleen. He is getting my maiden name instead.
Originally we had Alexander Graham picked out as a name but I wasn't feeling Alexander, Alex, or Zander. I too like that Nathaniel means gift from God since I had a m/c.
  • Anyone heard from Aphil lately?

Speaking of which, I have someone from the 100+ club who will post about our birth when it happens. I won't have internet access at home but will try and get over to a cousin's to post some pics.
  • I love the whole naming process but we get stuck so easy. Nothing formal or traditional, nothing from the bible for first names and we have such different tastes.

We had such bizarre names picked out for our first. We ended up calling him Kale instead of Rembrandt or Za'roul!! His middle names are family names, Edward is my dad's middle name and Joseph is dh's middle name.

With Mickey, it was dh's fathers nickname and I had loved Owen, which was supposed to be his first name but after Mickey was born dh asked me to change it, so that is what went on the birth certificate and he's a Mickey.

We've had Malee Kathleen Aveyard picked out forever. We sort of made up Malee but it's an actual name. I suggested Emily and he said what about Malee and we liked it. Kathleen is my mom's name and Aveyard is my paternal grandmothers maiden name. I just love the name and hope that I have a girl to give the name to.

I also like Naomi or Lessa but dh isn't too fond of those. I have no idea for another boys name for this one. We have to look through some books. I like names from my favorite books too but dh isn't up for that really. I like Perrin and Rand, Eragon,
  • I like your names Donna. Those are cool.

I'm doing well. 12 days now until delivery. All looked well with my appointments yesterday. I just have 3 more NSTs and 1 more appt. I'm still having that stupid cold but he prescribed me some antibiotics and told me I could take mucinex (everyone I know has been raving about how well it worked for them). Even though I'm still coughing some today, it actually feels like a productive breaking up the stuff in my chest cough and not the painful it's hurting my belly coughs.
  • Dawn, take the mucinex with lots of water. You will be harking up stuff from your toes...love it.

Could you explain what a NST is (I am assuming non stress test is what you are abbreviating, but I want to know the process since I will be having frequent ones with the twin pregnancy).

    Mary
  • I know I'm slightly behind, but I love names! (if not the actual process of NAMING our kids...) If this baby was a girl (or if he comes OUT a girl...I am so paranoid about that) her name would be Jaina Marie. Marie is my middle name, and I have loved the name Jaina for years. Or, if for some reason she was really light-complexioned/blondish (not seeing that happening, as DH is neither, and neither are half my genes) we would name her Carly Michele. As is stands, we are planning on naming our baby Joshua Reilly, and calling him Reilly. Names are so cool...
Hang in there Dawn - you're gonna make it! I am not about 8 weeks (give or take 1-2) away. It's so crazy...
  • Quote: Could you explain what a NST is (I am assuming non stress test is what you are abbreviating, but I want to know the process since I will be having frequent ones with the twin pregnancy).
Yes it is a non-stress test. They will hook up a monitor thing to see if you are having contractions and then you'll get one that will listen to each of the baby's heartbeats. What they listen for is accelerations and decelerations of the baby's HB to make sure he/she is still doing well in the womb. To me they are relaxing as long as I don't get one of the nurses who tries to lay me on my back.
