Hi Jacqui, is it the caffeine addiction in the soda? maybe stop the soda point blank but buy some caffeine pills to take the edge off the withdrawl? that would get you off soda then slowly reduce the caffeine pills til you wean off? Not sure :) but just a suggestion??

I had horrible hot flashes. oh the wonders of getting older. but I went A72/ZC and they are gone. not a one. over and done. boy did I hate those hot flashes then the severe cold right after. diet related? no idea, but one thing I know, is they are gone :) and I don't asky why really.

----------------good morning everyone, happy March~
DOWN 1 LB. YIPPEE! I needed to see some movement. I just do my thing and finally the clouds open up and the scale drops. I got my gift from the scale gods I love seeing the collarbones coming out sharper for sure!

today is very simple
big ribeye with butter
dinner change. family wants pizza....I will eat a ton of delish buffalo wings at this place. sodium hit but that doesn't worry me.

not sure on exercise. 1 med. hard short exercise tape to get the blood flowing.
then instead of inside, will probably take dog to mountain trail and hike. outdoors for me. I hope I can arrange my day to get this fit in.

Eating less again. not hungry at all. I think the warm weather getting me outside in the sun is effecting me again. winter cold shuts me down and I am bored and eat more. Getting outside in that wonderful sun just keeps me moving and occupied and happy as a clam.

Everything is running smooth.

everyone enjoy your day!!

PrairieQueen 03-01-2016 09:56 AM

Well, scratch everything I've said recently about finally "getting it" about my weightloss with the eating in 3s crapola and why I was starving. I think I'm finally in perimenopause. Twice this year now I've had "phantom periods" where I've had cramps, weight gain, bloating, headaches at the time I should have been getting my period. My normal day to start was Saturday - Monday and the systems were right on cue starting with the cramping and headache Saturday and Sunday, jumps in weight Saturday and Sunday. Now the cramps/headaches are gone and the weight is starting to go back down. The last time this happened I did get a symptomless period a week later. I will be 51 this month, but I do not know when my mom went through all of this because of all of her problems and surgeries since her 30s..... endometriosis (sp?), hysterectomy, pelvic sling, etc., etc. I have had zero problems, happy to say. TMI I know, but I'm done now. :)

love2b150 03-01-2016 05:26 PM

PrairieQueen, thanks for the info. I wish I had known about it on black Friday also. I read a thread or something with some pretty good reviews for it. It was $80 then. Though I think I would need two so I could get everything done :) Maybe a nice birthday present :) Good news regarding your brother always good to hear :) How long does the water taxi take? Is it a fear of being on the water that your Mom has of being on it that makes her prefer to drive? PQ, same here on family history and menopause with the bulk of the women in my family. I have only cousin that I can talk to and her hot flashes are off the chain, she'll be 56 this year.

Jacqui you have probably said and I just don't remember ... Are you having trouble sleeping? staying in bed too long in the mornings? Why are you up so late? or is this normal and I forgot :?:? It's almost time for me to get up when you're posting :D. Nope Mama-Hen, I had a big mac that I only ate half of (it taste funny) I have never been fond of McD's burgers but will eat their fish no bun just plain (don't know why but it has always been that way), I ate a medium fry, a hot fudge sundae and 2 diet Dr Pepper's (my only drink when at McD's unless I get coffee :) She is a wonderful little (tall girl) she's 5'8 now thanks to hubby. She just asked me, "have you had any sugar today?" I told her nope only an Atkins snack bar, closest thing. I've been having really bad hot flashes here lately not sure why all of a sudden. I was doing good for awhile. I don't drink water when I wake up though for that very reason. I will go to the bathroom almost every 20 minutes it seems. Drives me nuts :( My cousin suggested black cohash to me but the side effects were a little scary when I looked it up. Glad to hear it works for you (and her). Well I'm at 173 today so I've got some work to do to catch up to you. Today has been OP. I'm even on my last bottle of water :yay:

ZCA72, good job on the pound and yay for collarbones :high:

Wannabehealthy 03-01-2016 07:02 PM

I am sorry to hear of those of you having the menopause issues. I went through it in my early 50s without much fan fare other than irregular heavy periods for a while. No hot flashes to speak of. I also didn't have mood swings, although I would imagine DH would disagree. ha ha ha I get up to pee at least once a night and usually more. The dog looks at me like I'm nuts, but stands guard at the bathroom door so nothing bad happens to me, and escorts me back to bed.

PQ glad to hear Bro is improving and walking more. Yay Bro!!

PrairieQueen 03-01-2016 07:39 PM

Evening all!

Rennie mom loves the water but probably wants to have a car while we're down there. I would be happy to walk everywhere but she's not into that.
Carol Sue I'm happy to say that I've not had a load of other symptoms except for dry skin and slightly thinner hair. And I don't know if that's from meno or from the winter air and dieting. I still get my occasional pimple though.
Congrats ZCA!
Hey there Jacqui I used to be such a night owl before I moved to the country. Now I'm in bed by ten almost every night :)

Break - baked beans and two sausage links
Snack - cran water
Lunch - buffalo meatballs, blue cheese dressing, carrot sticks
Dinner - grilled wings, two lite beers

Jacqui_D 03-01-2016 09:21 PM

Carol Sue, not many hot flashes? I am SO jealous! My sister-in-law was like that. Mine aren't unbearable, just a hassle and no fun, kind of like TOM.

Rennie, I'm a bit of a night owl anyway, but I go through phases where I am up for most the night. I rarely go to bed before midnight, so it's not at all unusual for me to extend that and be up to 2 in the morning. I try not to stay up past that because I know that a good night's sleep is really healthy, but sometimes I'm up to 3 or 3:30. On extreme nights, I go to bed between 4 and 5 am. It drives my DH crazy. He's always scolding me about coming to bed, lol! Sometimes I clean house, except for running the vacuum. Sometimes I watch tv. I don't really watch tv during the day, so I tape some shows and watch them late at night. Sometimes I jump on the computer and piddle around on Etsy, Ebay, Pinterest, and AuctionZip. Of course there are those times when I've had long day and I'm in bed by 10, exhausted. I don't have a set time that I get up. Usually it's right around 8 but it has been as late as 10, usually 8 though. I was concerned about the weight gain side effect of black cohosh. I had read it can lead to weight gain and so I started out with reduced dosages to see if it was going to affect me that way, but it seems to be fine. It may be my imagination but I like the Nature's Way brand the best. I'm on GNC's brand right now and it just doesn't seem to be as effective, but again, it could be my imagination! :dizzy: Rissa is a doll for looking out for you. She's going to make a wonderful mother some day!

PrairieQueen, lol! Oh, I have no doubt you are in bed by 10 with how much you do in a day! You amaze me!

ZCA72, replacing the caffeine is a good suggestion. I drink hot green tea which has lots of caffeine in it, so when I am mentally prepared to give Diet Dr. Pepper up again, I may make a point of drinking green tea and see if that helps. :coffee2:

I got a nice whoosh today and am back down to my pre-Carb Day weight! :dancer: I hope it keeps going! :crossed:

Jacqui, I've cut way back on caffiene, and somewhat on diet cola, but not completely. I think it's the carbonation that cleans out some of the congestion in my throat.

Hmm, I never had a problem with TOM either. It was just a minor annoyance. I think there's a connection. No problem with TOM, no issues with menopause, and vice versa.

ZCA, I've seen that picture before!! I believe I have posted with you on another forum. Welcome!

Rennie, when I worked, I did a 5AM shift and had to get up around 3. Not as bad as your shift, but bad enough. It was the worst in the summer when I was going to bed and the neighbor kids were still outside playing. Now my body still wakes up early, but mostly I can fall back to sleep.

ZCA72 03-02-2016 09:34 AM

Jacqui, good way to experiment with yourself later when ready. green tea replacement and if you feel weird, you still could buy some caffeine pills and even cut in 1/2, try that and see if you can work it thru. ya never know :)

Wannabe--yea I am on some other forums. one thing I love is that you can find SO many different experiences from people who are doing LC. one thing I needed was alot of help in changing over to this lifestyle, I seek out those who are doing it well and learning all I could :)
this is a nice forum by the way!

----------good morning everyone
busy and fast day gonna happen. some days are crammed, get annoying but what can ya do :)

ribeye later with butter
ribeye or pork chops on grill tonight

I am not hungry point blank. I hit into that ever so wonderful zone of content and no hunger pangs.

I stopped snacking. I went to cans of sardines and cheddar if I wanted snacks but lately there is no need for them.
2 meals, alot of hot tea which I love to sip for warmth and I am finding myself happy as a clam :)

have to sort thru shorts soon. what fits, what doesn't. might need to buy after flinging some or not? we shall see.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day and ditch the carbs to the curb LOL

melissakd 03-02-2016 10:49 AM

Hi everyone! Had a wonderful on plan day yesterday UNTIL evening. :( I'm really mad at myself. I picked up some single serve packs of almonds (2 carbs) to see if I can start adding some nuts to my plan.

Ummm NO! I ate one pack, ate another pack and was immediately very hungry so I ate a mini chocolate candy bar. What is so crazy is that I've been in a place where I wasn't hungry at all. Basically making myself eat to make sure I'm getting fats and proteins.

Don't want to weigh for a while.

So, no more nuts for me.

Today:
B: Coffee/HWC/Splenda
L: L/O Philly Cheese steak in a bowl
D: Maybe nothing

Wannabehealthy 03-02-2016 11:03 AM

ZCA, yes it's a low carb forum. Not to give anything away, but your name there starts with a T.

ZCA72 03-02-2016 12:21 PM

yes Wanna :) :) you got it!

Melissa I feel for you on the nuts. ohmygosh nuts are so addictive. one after the other, I had to stop all nuts. I said 1 oz and ate an entire can in a flash. boy they are good but not something I can ever control. You aren't alone in that one, the nuts can make us insane :)

When I started this, I had such good intentions of eating well and just throwing in a snack or two of forbidden carbs. Now all I want is sweets! Did I ever mention my older brothers nicknamed me "chocolate baby" when I was little because I loved chocolate so much, haha! I still do! I have had so much chocolate today, I have a headache! Now, there's no sense in that! So no more chocolate for me today. I need to eat something without sugar! Hopefully, I can drop on the scale even lower this coming up week and then I need to try to get the next Carb Day back to something more reasonable. Someone remind me of that on Friday, lol! :kickbutt:

ZCA72, may I ask a personal question about your diet? Just say you'd rather not answer if it's too personal! We just tend to talk about everything on this thread, lol! I have rheumatoid arthritis and that already affects my bowel movements, so I have trouble with constipation. I've always wondered how well people on VERY low carb diets get along when it comes to constipation, because I know when I cut back on carbs it affected me. Do you find it to be a problem with a zero carb diet? Do you take probiotics? Or is it not a problem at all? I'm just curious! :o What kind of dog do you have? I had 3 dogs and lost them all in the last year to old age and cancer, so now I just have 2 cats. I am a cat person most of all, but I miss my dogs so much!

Carol Sue, Rennie, PrairieQueen, I hope you are all have a great weekend! :sunny:

Hey Jacqui_D! Congrats on another 0.5lb down! I think it's so great that you're planning your meals for the day. I find that really helps with accountability and to stay on track. Start filling your plate with fruits and vegetables - they are a great low calorie option to keep you full. Get at least 5 servings a day - more if you can to keep you full on good stuff. It's all low calorie. I stay ahead of hunger by snacking on fruit all day, and then when my favorite junk food is around it's less tempting. Or at least I have less. :)

love2b150 03-02-2016 05:04 PM

Hello ALL

Carol Sue glad to see  LOL on your hubby and whether or not you had mood swings. :) You had a calm body re: menopause. Lucky YOU :) Carol Sue working these hours my husband says I am the only person he knows that can get in the bed and as soon as my head hits the pillow I'm out :) but if I wake up and want to talk to him I'll start talking, he answers and falls back asleep again when he's here. :) I don't hear much of anything when I'm asleep, you pretty much need to shake me OR cook something :) I'll wake up ;)

PrairieQueen, didn't think about not having a car :) I was thinking the car would go across the water with you, so I understand :)

Jacqui I use to be quite the night owl when I was home. Oh and they were so use to it I could vacuum and no one not even my husband when he was there would wake up. He would look up but the kids would sleep straight through. They sleep through anything thank goodness. Thanks re: Rissa :) She's a lovable person :) I'm at 171.9 as of this morning but it probably won't hold ... the cookie monster got me this afternoon :)

melissa I buy the Archer Farms honey crunch cashews (I think the flavor is correct) and I tend to always finish those. It's only cashews that I do that with in any form. But hey it is a good fat to have right? Yeah I know in moderation (is the key) :) It's hard for me to get in all of my protein also. I'm not big on eggs. Though I've been trying to eat at least one for breakfast :)

SeeMyFeet 03-02-2016 10:02 PM

Nope, Rennie, you're not the only one. DH: Head. Pillow. Out. Annoying! Me: Toss/turn. Flip/flop. Ugh! ... 'least he does not get annoyed with me....much....for that....

At lunch, I had a nice Greek salad purchased from the Farmer's Market this morning. It had olives. I ate them. And I've been suffering from too much salt all evening. Dehydration headache. ow ow ow.

I skipped breakfast today. I used to be a breakfast-free person until I started trying to lose weight....I'm not sure if this is a new goal of mine, or if I just miss my oatmeal. (The box was emptied some time ago, and I haven't purchased more.)

Still working too much...still stressed....but having success at work, so there's that.....

...."the nuts can make us insane".....

Jacqui_D 03-03-2016 12:53 AM

Okay, I'm on late night/early morning again. It's still Wednesday night for me, so this post refers to Wednesday! :D

:welcome: Melissa and healthylivingalways!

Melissa, I know that is so frustrating, but I have to admit, I chuckled a little because that is SOOO me! I have the worse time with nuts! I love them but I go overboard with them so easily! Even today I had some Emerald Cocoa Almonds and I was determined to have only 10, and I kept picking up the jar and picking up the jar until I ate half the jar! I about make myself sick! So, yeah, beware the nuts!

Healthylivingalways, that is very good advice! And usually I do eat loads of veggies. But there's just something about the colder weather that makes me want to eat comfort foods and sweets. During warmer weather I want salads. I just wish I'd want salads all year round! But yes, I need to be more disciplined and stick with eating the foods I know work best for me.

Carol Sue, I have read that caffeine is really bad for hot flashes. I didn't have Diet Dr. Pepper yesterday or today, so maybe I can get a little streak going, although I'm not making any promises, lol, and keep my fingers crossed it will help! :crossed:

Rennie, yay on the 171.9! No cookies for you tomorrow, no nuts for me, lol! I dread getting on the scale tomorrow! :fr:

SeeMyFeet, I think olives affect me the same way. My taste buds love them. My joints don't. Too much salt holding water I think. ;yes: I had a pickle with dinner tonight. That might not have been a good idea either for the same reason. We'll see if I wake up all swollen tomorrow! Well, you know, more than usual. I do my Tim Conway walk to the bathroom EVERY morning when I wake up, lol, but usually I can start moving more normally pretty quickly, but not when I've had too much salt!

ZCA72, ugh shorts! I'm happy it's going to be warm enough before we know it to wear shorts again, but oh my legs look awful, especially since losing weight! Are Bermuda shorts in this year? Lol!

PrairieQueen, where you at? Lol!

Wannabehealthy 03-03-2016 08:00 AM

I eat walnuts from the baking aisle. No salt. I eat 5 a day and have no trouble stopping there. But if I'm sitting in a bar with a bowl of salted nuts in front of me, I will finish them off. I think it's the salt on the nuts that makes them addictive.

Rennie, I would never vacuum or use the washer and dryer until everyone was up. I don't think I was being nice, I just didn't want them to get up and be in my way. I loved my time alone before everyone got up.

SeeMyFeet, I love breakfast. I am such a big egg fan, I could eat just eggs all day, and did that sometimes when I lived alone. I bought some steel cut oats to try them out. I eat 1/4 cup with my eggs in the AM and am testing to see how badly they raise my blood sugar. So far, so good.

HealthyLiving, I love vegetables, but eat them mostly cooked since I prefer hot food. I like salads if I order them in restaurants and someone else makes them for me.

Jacqui, what are "baled beans?" LOL Just kidding. I love baked beans, but can't eat them because of the sauce. Really raises my blood sugar.

PrairieQueen 03-03-2016 09:06 AM

Morning all! Yesterday was busy and today will be as well. Just taking a break now before insanity starts :)
Yesterday's menu was . . .

Break - roast beef on sourdough slice w/fried egg
Lunch - more buffalo meatballs, blue cheese dressing, carrot sticks
Snack - cran water
Dinner - roast beef w/provolone on sourdough, spinach salad (no bacon) w/balsamic vinaigrette

Still bloated from phantom period though :( Oh, well....I know it will go away eventually.

melissakd 03-03-2016 10:24 AM

Hi Ladies! Jacqui, thank you for the welcome and the laugh. Yeah, those evil azz nuts have been banished.

Had a good on plan day yesterday but still not going to weigh until Sunday.

B: Coffee/HWC/Splenda
L: LC Chili, cheese, jalapenos
D: Pot roast, green beans

ZCA72 03-03-2016 01:22 PM

Jacqui, Bermuda shorts, no no no no. please no :)
had me laughing tho. being older I don't care about a little saggy and jiggly. luckily it isn't too bad, I can deal. my want for thinner trumps that saggy! funny but I am tired of covering up. I might just let it all hang out and scare the world--boo!

HI everyone!!

not hungry at all. my gosh I don't even want to be near food LOL
out to eat with hubby early, big old bacon cheese omelet. yum, but I could barely eat it. I don't start eating til around 11 at least and this 9am omelet was delish but I had to force it. SO full now it is scary. Not sure about any other food today. maybe 1/2 a ribeye later down the line. but I have no hunger at all and when I am in this zone I just go with the flow and eat accordingly. my appetite will return a few days from now and I will eat up some great steaks then

nothing much doing, this and that. usual daily stuff. waiting on rain clouds to come in.

I hope everyone has a wonderful on plan day!

love2b150 03-03-2016 01:53 PM

Hello everyone

SeeMyFeet, thank goodness my husband doesn't get annoyed either. I'm such a brat :) but hey, at least I know it ;) I hope the headache subsides

Jacqui, I bought the blue diamond brand of those nuts and I think the kids ate them. I can't find them any where in the kitchen :?: Funny when I got them on the recommendation of you all, the kids said, that's just nasty! But they are gone :) oops too late I had two chocolate chip cookies from BK.

Carol Sue, my family is just use to noise so it doesn't bother them. When I had my oldest she would wake up and holler at the slightest sound. A friends mother told me to put that baby near the kitchen and stop tip toeing she'll get use to it and she did and so did each baby there after, along with hubby. We all pretty much go on with our day when others are sleeping. The only thing that disturbs me is music. I don't want to hear music when I'm sleeping. ... wakes me, I start singing, now the song's in my head and now I'm grumpy :) My husband use to sleep with the radio when we first got together I nipped that quickly ;) Carol Sue, you're funny baled beans ;)

PrairieQueen hope you didn't answer this already and I missed it ... Does buffalo meatballs mean spicy? and do you put a splash of cranberry in your water or is it a flavor packet? thanks

Melissa hope I'm not being an airhead ... what is HWC - hot water cornbread? probably not since this is a low carb thread and I'm just here because I promised I wouldn't disappear and one day I'll get back in the wagon and join you all :)

melissakd 03-03-2016 02:04 PM

LOL I tried my best to figure that out, thank you :) oh how do you make your low carb chili? I use to eat the Texas Pete hot dog chili. it was soy based (high sodium) but so good and they stopped making it. I wish they'd bring it back. I would add it to my beans. :)

Wannabehealthy 03-03-2016 02:42 PM

That very close to how I make my chili but I have to have my beans! Lately I've been using pinto beans. But I know the beans make it no longer low carb.

Rennie, when DH and I first got married he had the radio on all night. Drove me nuts. Finally he got a pillow speaker so only he could hear it. Now, because I wake up so often and can't go back to sleep, I also have a pillow speaker and listen to the all night talk shows. Sometimes I wake him up in the middle of the night to have him change the station. LOL

Ha ha ha Hot Water Cornbread!!

PrairieQueen 03-03-2016 02:44 PM

Rennie the meatballs are spicy and yummy! My cran water is 4 oz. pure cran juice, 1 stevia packet, 12 oz. seltzer water.

Jacqui_D 03-03-2016 03:35 PM

Oh yeah I need beans in my chili too, light red kidney beans and dark red kidney beans both. No baled beans though. I save those for hamburgers, Carol Sue!

Rennie, that's right, no disappearing!

ZCA72, lol! If you saw my lumpy bumpy thighs, you might be begging me to find some Bermuda shorts!

Melissa, oh, those nuts did a number on me! (I'm sure the pickle didn't help either.) I woke up 1.5 lbs up! Lol! :goodscale: <<<It may look like that little guy is happy, but really he's laughing at me! :D

PrairieQueen, you should have a spring break coming up soon, shouldn't you? :beach: School always seemed so long between Christmas and Spring Break. I do believe we teachers loved the break way more than the kids, lol! And snow days, loved snow days!

melissa, thanks for the recipe. I have never had chili without beans. I'll have to make a small batch. I wonder if my husband will eat it? The kids don't like chili unless it's on a hot dog or some sort of frank.

Carol Sue what's a pillow speaker? I've never heard of that. It may just be the thing to keep my husband from snoring (drives me nuts). and ear plugs don't work nor do those nasal strips.

PrairieQueen I like the sound of your water :)

Jacqui, nope ... sorry for the up but I'm sure it will be down tomorrow,

well I want chili ... I'm trying to get one of these wonderful young people to brown the beef for me :D

PrairieQueen 03-03-2016 07:40 PM

Evening all!

Jacqui the first day of spring break is Good Friday. I'll be flying to FL (again) sometime between Thursday night and Saturday....haven't bought ticket yet. I'm looking forward to some fun in the sun :)

My phantom period still has me retaining water and bloated. It was at its highest yesterday and started to go back down today. I need to look up on my calendar when this happened before and how long it took my body to get back to "normal."

Menu today....
Break - fried egg, roast beef on half a sourdough slice
Lunch - last of the spicy meatballs, blue cheese dressing, carrot sticks
Dinner - cashew/bourbon chicken w/carrots, broc, brown rice

Hubs had his work buddy over for dinner and a couple of games of "Ticket to Ride" that he just got....booooooring. I, on the other hand, played an exciting game called "Clean the Kitchen" followed by a quick round of "Make Breadcrumbs" and "Pack Lunches."

Jacqui, did you feel sorry for the teachers who lived in warmer climates and didn't get snow days? Growing up, we never had snow days because we walked to a little neighborhood school.

Rennie, you could make your chili and take some out for yourself before adding the beans for your family. I do that when DH wants pasta in his chili. There are some men who just eat whatever you put in front of them. I thought all men were like that until I met DH.

On browning the meat. On another forum, a woman said she browns up a big pan of meat then freezes it, then pulls some out when she needs it. Good idea for when you're in a hurry, but DH wouldn't eat it.

A pillow speaker is a small flat speaker a few inches square you put under your pillow so you can hear the radio but others can't hear it. It has a cord that plugs into into the radio. A lot of newer radios don't have the option of a speaker. I don't think it would help with snoring.

PQ, your games don't sound like a lot of fun. Today I have to play "wrap the meat." It's not as much fun as it may sound. I went grocery shopping last night. LOL

Ok Chickies, this is just a drive-by. I am off to the river house. I'll be back tomorrow evening. Today I weigh 167.5. :woohoo:

Hi Ladies!

Hope everyone has a great weekend. We have the annual Oyster Fest going on here this weekend, so I'm sure I'll be eating my share raw (though I'd really love them fried!)

love2b150 03-04-2016 02:05 PM

LOL PrairieQueen on the games ... that really made me chuckle :) thanks

Carol Sue, I'm having my son make his baked beans for dinner tonight. He uses Bush's vegetarian baked beans (my husband doesn't eat pork), I eat just about anything ;):D:) he adds green pepper, onion and ground beef. I'll also cut up some beef hot dogs and put them in there for my everyone else except my oldest son. He will only eat the hot dogs no type of bean at all. He says beans and peas feel weird in his mouth (I wonder who he gets that from? :D) I never thought about adding pasta to chili. Is it good? I wonder if my husband will eat it? It took some convincing to get him to eat white chicken chili but he likes it. The only other thing that he won't eat other than pork is breakfast for dinner. But he'll eat a pack of nutter butters, butter pecan ice cream and chips as a dinner if no one cooks, silly man :) That's a great idea for browning meat. I know your hubby won't eat it. He doesn't eat left overs. My husband will eat what I send out of the door with him. When he calls me at night/my morning I'll ask him how was dinner? He used to never complain about anything now he goes into detail about the way something taste and I'm thinking "but you don't cook so how do you know what more it could have had!?" oh well ... he still ate it :D Wrap the meat!! you all are a woot :)

Jacqui have you almost finished with the restoration of the house from the renters? See you tomorrow  Don't work too hard.

Eww Melissa, raw oysters!!! Not for me! We frequent a seafood buffet and I have had the Oysters Rockefeller but not the Oysters on the Half Shell. We saw one guy fill up his plate and just slurp them right down! My mother used to chop up canned oysters and put them in her stuffing, but they were chopped so small we couldn't tell them were in there, although we knew. LOL But if you like them, you can have my share. Enjoy!

Rennie, we don't like the little piece of fatty pork that they put in pork and beans, but I buy Bush's Boston Style and it doesn't have it in there. When I make them, I rinse mine in hot water to get the sugary sauce off. It still retains the flavor. The best I've had was my mother's home-made from dry beans, but that's too much work for just 2 people.

My step-children were pretty good eaters. They ate most anything I made, but now that they are out on their own they say they hate liver, but ate it almost weekly when they lived at home. And my step-son said he will never again eat Tuna Noodle Casserole. DH won't eat liver anymore either, but I keep some in the freezer and cook it for myself when I make something different for him.

DH will not eat breakfast for dinner, or dinner for breakfast, but also eats all the cookies and cakes he can get his hands on. We have gone out to a restaurant for dinner and he has ordered an order of french fries and a slice of pie. LOL Never had a weight problem, either.

ZCA72, good for you on the .2 loss. I use a balance beam scale and I never count partial pounds. I either go up a pound or down a pound. I have an electronic scale that measures tenths. Maybe I'll get some batteries and use that for a while and see what the difference is.

Hi to Jacqui, PQ, SeeMyFeet!

I haven't seen Trish (Pattygirl) here for a while, but have talked with her on the Diabetes thread.

PrairieQueen 03-05-2016 07:46 PM

What a lazy day today, but I did get a few errands completed. I made yogurt and went to the dairy for milk. Hubs and I are sat on the sofa with our cats on our laps and the dogs at our feet. It was a miserable cold and wet day here in Ohio, but sun and 60s next week.

Break - leftover pizza
Lunch - 3 strips bacon, pineapple spears
Dinner - spinach salad, ribeye w/creamy bourbon mushroom sauce

LEELEE57 03-05-2016 09:39 PM

Hi everyone. I've been reading your threads since last year and January 1, I took the leap and cut the carbs! I've read all of your stories and feel like I know you. I went low carb four years ago and the weight literally fell off of me. In January of 2014, I quit smoking and on piled 45 pounds in about a year. I told myself that I did good by quitting smoking but dang I got fat!!!! Built like an apple....stick person legs and arms and big round middle. Ugh!!!! I was a sugar fiend and LOVED potatoes and pasta and bread, bread, bread. Then, I got diagnosed with Hashimoto's (autoimmune thyroiditis) and my thyroid crapped out. I need to get support and give it too. The weight is coming off but oh so slowly it is aggravating. After 9 weeks in 2012 when I went low carb, I'd lost 20 pounds. I was losing an average of two pounds a week. Now, I'm lucky if I lose a half pound. It is so frustrating. Not sure if it's my thyroid because my numbers are really great (I educated myself and don't just take the doctor's word for it when he says "everything looks normal."). My thyroid function is in optimal range with medication but this weight is barely moving. I was also pre-diabetic so I know that low carb works for me and is really the way I need to eat for the rest of my life (my dad was diabetic as well as my fraternal grandmother). Anyway, that's just a little about me....except I want to get back in my pretty clothes I bought when I got skinny 4 years ago!

LEELEE57 03-05-2016 09:50 PM

I just figured out the smilies. Been a long time since I posted in a forum.:carrot::carrot::carrot::comp::comp::comp:

ZCA72 03-06-2016 08:16 AM

Hi Leelee

Wanna, I never heard of a balance beam scale? I will go off and google LOL
I got a cheap one from walmart :) I am not a fan of .2 and .4 and never worry about the little movement....but to have .2 down after eating ALL that food for the day made me smile

------------

love2b150 03-06-2016 01:11 PM

Happy Sunday Everyone

Hi LEELEE :wel3fc: and to the thread :) ... You'll get great support here, our thread leader Jacqui is wonderful, glad to have you :)

Carol Sue I use to eat pork n beans growing up. Campbell's brand. My dad always bought them, he would take the little piece of pork out also and add to them. Whatever he cooked was good in my opinion :) I only buy the vegetarian flavor because I know they aren't cooked with any pork. My mom has always said that it doesn't matter what he doesn't know won't hurt him but I feel that is just wrong. I stand strong on do unto others as you would have them do unto you. I feel like your step son where roast is concerned. We had roast every Sunday when I was growing up so I just don't make it. I have when my husband mentioned something about one a few times when we seem one on sale but other than that I skip right over that meal :) LOL on husbands and their dinners :)
