So ZCA why did we let ourselves get into this predicament in the first place????????? LOL I know that weight loss is healthier. Right now I haven't figured out how to do it, for me. Well, I know, but I can't make myself stick to it long term. I need to find the Determination and I try to find it in the stories of other successful people. You know what I mean.
PQ, so who did Mr Darcy tangle with in the broad daylight? I'm glad he's behaving himself, at least until he heals. DH is probably the size of your DH. He could probably stand to lose a few, but over all I would never have considered him to have a weight problem. He seems to put a few on in the winter and take it back off in the summer. We need to find him a more active hobby for winter, but I have no room to talk!! |
Carol Sue I have no idea what got him but he's almost back to his old mischevious self.
Break - chicken salad bacon wrap Lunch - chicken salad bacon wrap, homemade applesauce Snack - 7 almonds Dinner - large portion of lasagne (after yoga) |
wanna, oh boy the loaded question. WHY did we???? :) :) for me personally it comes down to the food we eat. that little old line of 'we are what we eat'. I think when younger and you get a bit heavy we 'don't feel it' mostly so it is in that 'I am kinda ok with it' category....then as we get older the lightbulb goes on about 'true health' I guess. then we start the battle :) changing all our ways we lived with our entire lives and boy we do know that is a rough journey LOL
there are a zillion things out there that 'we know as smart individuals' should not happen ever for a healthy situation in our life yet we do them all the time. I guess we can't be 'perfect' every day of our lives when it comes to physical vs. what the mind wants I assume???? oh gosh who knows LOL HI ALL off to moms today for brunch and running around to some stores. omelet for me. best food choice when eating out for me. bacon and cheese, yum ribeye later today whenever nothing much doing. just cruising along waiting for my 'real hot summer' weather to come along here so I can get the pool opened etc. sleepover for kiddo's birthday on saturday...a whopping 11 years old :) :) only 2 friends she wants sleeping over so it will be an easy event. off to get the day moving along. hope everyone has a fine day!! |
ZCA I know for me it all fell apart when I went from living alone to living in a family setting. I had 2 preteens when I woke up the day after my wedding. I had a perfect WOE when I was single, and changed it when I got married, knowing full well what would happen. DH told me "You are thin. You can eat anything you want." Boy, did I prove him wrong!!
PQ glad to hear Mr Darcy is back to his old self. |
Evening ladies! I'm having such a time with hunger this week.....hopefully a whoosh is around the corner. But I've been having pasta three nights this week, so we'll see. I've had a deficit every day but one as well, with most days being 400-500 cal under. I used to lose in daily, tiny increments, but lately it's been whooshes.im sure it's because of my pasta and potato binges :) I have discovered sweet potato oven fries w/cayenne from scratch. This is my new go to side to when I make burgers....love them. I've decided this weekend's food splurge is going to be pull-apart sliders....one of my former students posted it on FB and I've been thinking about them ever since!
Jacqui still sending healing vibes to DD. Rennie hope nothing is wrong and you're just super busy with life. Break - sausage mcmuffin Lunch - bean soup Snack - 3 mandarins Dinner - Cincinnati chili 3-way spaghetti, lite beer |
oh boy Wanna do I hear you on that one!! 2 preteens and a new marriage....ugh you ain't got a chance girl!! :) :)
I also saw that. snagged the hubby so why not enjoy now instead of 'watching my weight' like a good person does and needs to hook the guy LOL once you got it, all bets are off--HA HA yea I never had a good relationship with food. I knew 'I was one to 'watch' the intake on food' to hold myself but so easy to do when alone. throw in a 'family' and it goes off the charts for sure!! PQ hope the whoosh comes! you are in your zone and doing well, keep on going!!! For me today: had good time with mom yesterday, being 88 and broke hip in Jan she drove to the grocery by herself and did great--she is walking good also--so happy about all this!! BUT the omelet was a disgusting disaster....I always say--how can you screw up an omelet? by a 'cook' who doesn't have a clue LOL cold shredded cheddar thrown on a folded egg with some 'bacon bits' thrown on for good measure cause after all, I did order a cheese bacon omelet HA HA never again! Kiddo is 11 today. my birthday tax write off LOL just running here and there and moving fast. alot to do and alot on my plate with life getting in the way as usual. everyone have a great friday |
Happy weekend everyone! It finally got past the 70 degree mark here today. good ole Aunt Flo popped in tidal for a stay. That's why I've been so hungry this week. These last few months, she's been unpredictable, so I never know when she's going to show up on my doorstep.
Break - sausage mcmuffin Lunch - half portion of Vinci chili three-way spaghetti Snack 3 mandarins Dinner - sriracha Orange beef w/brown rice Future snack - lite beer |
It's not even ten on a Saturday night and I'm ready for bed. I finally had a day outside in the garden and I'm pooped!
Break - leftover sriracha beef Lunch - ham and cheese sandwich Dinner - two homemade sliders w/cheese, salad, sweet potato oven fries Night! |
Ok y'all I'm attempting to do this on my phone. My DH has commandeered my computer because his broke down a week ago and he's working on our taxes which of course are due tomorrow! Prairie Queen, I haven't seen the whole story yet but I saw the reply that something hurt your kitty. I am so sorry to hear that and I hope he continues to get better! Thank you for the well wishes on my daughter. She came homelast weekend and we've learned that she has a strained deep muscle involving a pressure point and when it spasms it mimics the pain of a mild heart attack! So it's painful for her, but not dangerous, not her heart or her esophagus. She has to do exercises because it's connected to her job on sitting hunched over a computer for hours every day. Carol Sue, I have been doing terrible on my diet. I'm still drinking too much Diet Dr. Pepper and protein bars. I've hardly eaten anything else and then on yesterday's carb day, I went crazier than usual on sweets and today my RA is killing me! Today I really am starting new. I refused to buy more protein bars at the grocery yesterday. I'm taking them completely off my allowed list. And Dr.Pepper too. If I want Dr pepper I'll have to wait for Carb Day. ZCA, I know you warned me about the effects of the protein bars, and I avree byt I thought I could keep them on my list for "emergencies". I can't. My all or nothing mentality gets in the way. Anyway y'all, I probably weigh 180 now but I am not going to get on the scale until I give myself a week of eating well again so I won't become discouraged. Today I had my eggs and bacon and yogurt for breakfast and a salad for lunch and only water with mio to drink. It's a good thing I gave away my bigger clothes because it forces me to realize I can't vet bigger, lol! I kept only one pair of comfy slightly larger jeans and those are getting snug so I have no choice but to get back on track! And my RA is absolutely punishing me for my transgressions so I can't keep doing this. I apologize for any typos. I'm too blind for this phone, lol!
|
Jacqui so glad to hear that daughter's heart is okay!
Lots of gardening this weekend.....it was so nice here. I went clothes shopping for hubs... New shorts in a smaller size :) we went through his old cargo shorts that were designed for a 14-year-old and tossed most of them. He's gradually classing up his summer wardrobe. Last year he ditched the public display of tacky t-shirts. Break - ham and scrambled egg Lunch - 2 sliders Snack - lite beer under the trees Dinner - ribs w/cherry chipotle sauce, oven fries, spinach salad Snack - cranberry water |
Evening ladies! Three days straight in the early garden (smaller of two). I tilled Sat. and Sun., planted leeks, lettuce, spinach, and kale yesterday, planted red potatoes, another lettuce variety, carrots, parsnips, and peas tonight after dinner. Tomorrow night will be the last planting for a week.
Break - scrambled egg and ham Snack - almonds Lunch - ham and cheese slider Dinner - homemade pizza Snack - cran water |
Woohoo, glad to have my computer back! So I've been "good" now for 2 days without the protein bars and my appetite seems to have calmed down some, thank goodness! I went without Diet Dr. Pepper yesterday, but I forgot that when I stop it I go into a migraine headache for 4 days; therefore, just drinking it on Carb Days isn't going to work. I either have to give it up completely or find a way to have it each day. I woke up today with the beginning of a migraine. It took me a minute to realize why my eyeballs were hurting so badly. Once I realized a migraine was coming on, I knew why. So I immediately got up and made a pot of caffeinated tea. To my surprise, that didn't help at all. Even hours later, my headache continued to get worse. I'm not mentally prepared right now to go through days of a migraine, so I gave in and drank a bottle of Dr. Pepper and the headache went away. That tells me it's not just caffeine I'm addicted to, and that's a scary thought. I'm going to have to try to give up Diet Dr. Pepper again, but I have to be ready. I'm not ready right now for the migraine. So in the meantime I will have to find the discipline to drink no more than one bottle or can a day because I definitely think Diet Dr. Pepper contributes to my sweet tooth. Anyway, I am EATING well right now, so I'm going to focus on that for now!
PrairieQueen, thank you! :) Yay on your DH's smaller size! :cp: And glad you are back in your beloved garden! :yay: ZCA, I hope your little one had a happy birthday! :D Carol Sue, Trish, good luck with the moving process! :crossed: Tabby, I'm glad you're back on track! It can be difficult sometimes and we slip here and there, but it we just have to keep our eyes forward and continue trying to do our best! Rennie, where are you? Miss you! |
:welcome: Chickiechooo! I just saw your post. Please feel free to join us!
|
PQ I am so envious of your garden. I can't plant anything. The critters eat it up as soon as it comes up. We only do tomatoes in the summer. I would love to do peppers, swiss chard, leeks.
Jacqui, I never get headaches. I used to get them occasionally when I had sinus issues, but not for years now. Maybe it's because of the meds I'm on. I don't think I will ever completely give up my Diet Coke. I like the carbonation. It seems to help with the congestion in my throat. I drink a lot less than I used to. It does not make me crave sweets. I think my sweet tooth fell out. LOL I have been doing a version of intermittent fasting. I eat between 10 and 5 or thereabouts. I stopped my bedtime snack and it hasn't affected my morning blood sugar, so I think I'm ok with that. I'm down a couple pounds, but not as much as I thought I would be. I also have not had any starchy carbs for the past week. I still eat my veggies, though. Love my veggies. Oh, and I am sleeping so much better lately. I think it helps me to go to bed on an empty stomach. And I'm not starving when I get up in the morning. I have to make cookies today for DGS, and stay out of the cookie dough! He called and told me the cookies I gave him last time are almost gone. I think his parents put him up to it. LOL |
Carol Sue, I'm so glad the intermittent fasting is working for you and great job staying away from the starches! And a big yay on the 2 lbs down! :bravo: I would love to give intermittent fasting a go, but my DH and I eat at all different hours. Because of his job and all the years of our kids in sports, we've never eaten at "normal" hours. Now that the kids are grown and my DH is retired, you'd think it'd be better, but no. Late last night I had to battle my sweet tooth, but I did it, by refusing to let myself go into the kitchen! I also stuck to that one bottle of Diet Dr. Pepper yesterday and its effects seemed to have carried over to today because I haven't had a problem with a headache today. Maybe I can get by with one every other day instead of every day. We'll see! :crossed:
PrairieQueen, I envy your garden skills too! Unfortunately, I have a brown thumb. :( Once I get through this week, I'll start weighing myself and type out my menus again. But for now, I'll just summarize: I had my usual eggs, bacon, and yogurt for breakfast, then bologna, green olives and cheese sticks for lunch, and I had a boiled egg for a snack. I'm not sure what we're having for dinner. Now that it's nice out, DH has started grilling out again, but he's been gone most the day and we didn't discuss what we're having like we normally do, so we didn't set anything out to thaw. It may be a "snack it" night. If so, I think I will have a small salad, and a plate of sliced pepperoni with melted mozzarella cheese on top. tastes incredibly like pizza! :T Edited to add: DH went to a local pizza place and got a sub for himself and some plain chicken wings for me, so that was dinner tonight. |
I spoke to Rennie through text today and she is doing well but staying busy. She said she is hoping to start fresh on eating well in May. She said her Mom will be visiting at the beginning of May but after that, she hopes to be good to go! She told me to tell everyone hello for her!
|
Congrats on the loss Carol Sue! Keep up the good work.
Jacqui good going on staying out of the kitchen! Hang in there... You'll be back on track in no time. Planted gold and red beets, radishes, another type of Italian kale, iceberg lettuce, and bokchoy. Tomorrow, I'll stop at the feed store for onion sets and copper sulfate (to treat a fungus that spread through everyone's garden last year). My farmer friend will be down o till up the big garden tomorrow if it doesn't rain. Break - sausage mcmuffin Lunch - Amy's bean/cheese burrito Dinner - grilled wings, sweet potato fries, lite beer Snack - cran water |
Thanks Jacqui. the birthday went well and they had a great time.
HI ALL fun reading along....just got so busy in life that I had to cut computer time and do all the junk that was having to get done. So much 'stuff' in life keeps one hopping, and not for the good sometimes LOL. on plan 100%. today is 2 ribeyes. nothing changing on the menu front, just feeling so great eating my plan and I realize with more and more time on it, I feel so good I can't ever leave it. I just don't remember feeling this in tune with my body ever. I guess I was in a carb nightmare and carb coma have a storm coming, went from 85 to like 60s...boo...but we need the rain this time. the pollen has turned everything yellow...a good rain wash down is SO wanted at this time. everyone have a great day |
ZCA72, I'm happy to hear you are feeling so good and loving your way of eating! :woohoo: I think we all have a way that works well for our bodies. We just have to find it! I know my way works well for me when I stick to it, but it definitely isn't for everyone. Speaking of sticking to it, I'm still on plan! :yay: Now that protein bars are back out of my life, I'm finding it to be pretty smooth sailing again. And I got by without Diet Dr. Pepper yesterday, but I don't think I'll get through today. I didn't wake up with a headache so I was hopeful, but I'm starting to feel the pressure building up in my head now. I'm happy that every other day will work instead of every day though! :cp:
PrairieQueen, your garden sounds wonderful! I love hearing about it! Oh and then when you describe the wonderful meals you make with all your goodies, it sounds so wonderful! I just read an article today that Roundup has been found in breakfast foods that researchers didn't expect to find it in, like organic bagels and eggs! Yikes! I can only imagine how much must be in store bought veggies. That's when I really envy you with your fresh homegrown veggies! Carol Sue, you are SO lucky not to get headaches! I get sinus headaches whenever the weather changes. And I used to get TOM migraines. (If I can only make it to August, I should be officially over with TOM! ) Now I get migraines whenever I try to stop Diet Dr. Pepper. It's always 4 days worth, like clockwork. :( You'd think that would be enough to make me give up Diet Dr. Pepper forever, but I really do have an addiction to it and I've not been able to make it past 6 months. Thank goodness I never took up smoking or heavy drinking or drugs or serious gambling because I'm not very good at fighting this addiction! :dizzy: I'm glad your Diet Coke doesn't make you crave sweets. In fact, I'm so jealous that you no longer have a sweet tooth! I have SUCH a sweet tooth! I have to calm down on Carb Day though. I am not helping my RA by how "all out" I've been going on Carb Days lately. I always hurt pretty good the next day, and recently my pain and stiffness have been lingering. I don't want to have to go back on meds, so I need to try to be more moderate on Carb Days, which was my plan from the start! :dunno: Today I had eggs, bacon, yogurt, and blackberries for breakfast. Yum! I haven't had blackberries in a long time. They are so good! When I reached goal, I added citrus and berries to my diet and although I have to get back down to goal, I haven't cut out those fruits. I don't think they're hurting me. They don't trigger my appetite or sweet tooth, which is what I was worried about, and the fiber helps fill me up. I don't have fruit very often, just occasionally with breakfast so I'm going to leave them in, unless I see any negative effects on my cravings, because they're very healthy, full of natural vitamins, and yummy! :T |
Hot dogs for lunch today. We are going to the local sports grill for dinner so it will be my favorite salad with craisins for dinner. A headache did not come on today when I thought it might so, so far I have not had any Diet Dr. Pepper today! :D
|
Jacqui yeah on no diet Dr. P! That's was my worst addiction....Coke Zero. I blame it for a lot of my other bad habits/general blahs. I still get a taste for it and usually get a fix on Saturday or Sunday morning. That keeps me sated for a week.
ZCA glad your plan is keeping you pumped! I found never do no carb...even when I do it unintentionally my brain goes haywire. I do too much math at work and if I don't have my (good) carbs things get real foggy in my head. Break - egg salad/bacon wrap Lunch - ham/cheese slider Dinner - beef fajita, black beans Snack - cran water |
Jacqui I swear it must be our addictive type personalities in that we GIVE up so much of our old foods, our minds instantly 'find new' addictions. the 'emergency' things we keep for 'just in case' then become the dependency. Thing is we can't fool ourselves too long. We KNOW what we are doing to ourselves LOL and it is a pain to break that addiction situation but you sure can do it!! As long as we SEE and address what we do for our own good and improvement, then we will succeed and move forward. I sure have done it! I relied on Atkins bars way back in the day. I ate a zillion of those 'just in case' situations LOL
PQ, I am opposite. carbs are what keep me in a brain fog. no carbs for me puts me in the most clear minded way I have ever been in my life. I know many say the carbs are needed to keep them clear, but if you accept the fact that we do not need 1 carb eaten our entire life to survive, then it comes to show in reality that they are not needed for our bodies and that the natural way to eat is carb-less really....BUT I DO say everyone is so different in that one must do what they must to be in their best form. I just tend to absolutely follow and understand my ZC ways. It puts me in a pickle talking about eating carbs with others LOL I always want to say XX and YY about carbs but I know when others have a great plan that is working so well for them, well, it is best we all do our own plans :) Whatever we do to improve our health and more for our individual selves is the best gift we can ever give ourselves. rock it out PQ the way that fits you great!! HI ALL off to moms house. she wants to shop Kmart to wander around and get out. I need some pool supplies. then off to lunch at Wendy's burgers. bleck. I will get the 1/2 grilled chicken salad. wish me luck in that I haven't had anything green in SO long that it will either kill me or be ok LOL (I don't eat fast food burgers without a bun, the meat is just so sub-par to me, even as a ZC person I would rather have a tiny salad to get buy) Mom is 88 and so worried we can't go anywhere she wants cause of how I limit my menu but it is cool, I will pick at a tiny salad just for her, no one else in this world tho would I do it! LOL after that small salad, I got my eyes on a giant ribeye when I get home! have a great day all __________________ |
Quote:
I also cannot eat a fast food burger. It doesn't taste like meat! The only burgers I will eat when out is an angus burger. And only bunless. I can't believe I am finally starting to not like bread. It took years!!! |
So Jacqui, how do you know TOM is going away in August? Does he have a trip scheduled? Sometimes he hides for a while, then pops back in when you least expect him. Maybe you mean you are having him surgically removed? Maybe I'm just being too darn nosy!! LOL
I have heard that if you're going to have fruit, blackberries are the least problematic. Lower in sugar and higher in fiber. I vote for keeping them, if my vote counts! My lack of a sweet tooth does not include chocolate candy. I can eat it til I'm nauseated, then do it again the next day. I can easily pass up chocolate cake or chocolate ice cream, but not chocolate candy. Luckily DH doesn't like it and it's not around. I wish I had the money I spent in the snack machines when I worked. I bought so many candy bars and ate them all day. And I knew every desk in the building where someone kept a stash. Funny that I didn't lose weight after I retired. I guess something else replaced the chocolate candy. |
Carol Sue, I sure wish I could survive on your BIL's diet! My taste buds would be overjoyed! My body sure would make me pay though, lol! :club: Like you, I am losing my taste for breads. Somehow the flour in cake hasn't fallen into that category yet though, haha! Oh yum, I love chocolate candy! But also cake and cookies, lol! :hungry: Well, from everything I've read, if you can get through a year without TOM, you are officially in menopause and no more TOM. My last TOM was July of last year. Are you telling me that's not right? PLEASE let that be right, lol! :crossed:
ZCA72, yes, we are all different. Our bodies are different. Our gut flora is different. Our medical conditions are different. Our mind-body connections are different. We each have to find our own path to our healthiest self. I know that if I tried to go all meat, I'd be constipated to high heaven, and I'd probably have gout in less than a month! And I have to agree with Carol Sue on the phytonutients and antioxidants in fruits and vegetables. I need them. Plus, the liver has to work harder to convert protein and fat to glucose, and no doubt I'd be susceptible to liver damage with my battle with RA already. I know I need to cool it on the sweets, but I have to have carbs to function properly. Oh but I can't agree with you more on addiction! I was eating those protein bars like candy bars, and with the preservatives in them, I wonder if they aren't worse than just having some chocolate! I absolutely MUST stay away from them! Good luck with the Wendy's salad! :goodluck: PrairieQueen, so Coke Zero caused problems for you too? I really don't think it's my imagination that Diet Dr. Pepper contributes to my wanting sweets. I've noticed it for a few years now, whenever I stop it and end up going back to it. Of course, it could be my all-or-nothing mentality too. I don't know. I just know it's not good for me, and I need to continue to try to get away from it if I can, even though I love it so much! So last night, DH and I didn't end up at our local sports grill. We went to Scioto Downs Racino instead because it was half off old folks night at the buffet, lol! Every Wednesday is half-price for those 50 and older. Today just happens to be my 55th birthday, so we decided to have my birthday dinner last night at the buffet for half price. It wasn't my Carb Day so I stuck to meats and non-starchy veggies, but it was nice to have such a selection! And $10 in free play had already been downloaded to my card for my birthday so we played the slots and I won $94! Woohoo! It was fun! :D Today I had a late breakfast of eggs, bacon, and yogurt. I haven't had lunch yet because I'm still full from breakfast. I may just have some more yogurt or maybe salad. We're planning to have burgers for dinner (mine bunless, of course). :burger: My sinuses are acting up a bit today. I think it's supposed to rain. Then again, it could be allergies. I've heard this year is supposed to be REALLY bad for allergies. I never had allergies when I was younger, but I think I've developed them. On the other hand, I haven't had any Diet Dr. Pepper yet, so even though I have some watery eyes and a stuffy nose, the pressure I'm feeling in my head could also be withdrawals symptoms. We'll see! :dizzy: |
Hi Everyone! I hope you don't mind if I jump in with a little background and then a question. I went very low carb the last three weeks of Lent and began dropping weight after a week or so and very rapidly at that point. The first two weeks I just had diarrhea. I was worried about constipation, but it didn't come until the third week. Easter chocolate, followed by two family birthdays had me eating more carbs for these last few weeks. I haven't gained any weight and now I'm back to low carbing it. I'm still in diarrhea mode, but I'm about ready to shift back to constipation mode. So, my question is,
What do you do about the constipation? |
Jacqui, you very well might not have TOM ever again. Did you go through the phase of very irregular periods for a while? That's how it was for me. Sometimes every 3 weeks, then a month or so without, then back again for a month of so. I don't remember how long that lasted. I remember doing a few pregnancy tests during that time, scaring me to death. LOL
Treasa, I'm sure someone will answer you on the constipation. I never have that problem, but I am not VLC. |
Carol Sue, yes, I did go through that, and I am so hoping I'm all done with it now! :crossed:
Treasa, I suffer from constipation quite often but then, I also have rheumatoid arthritis and that seems to contribute to it. I take a probiotic each day that I get at GNC and that helps. Plus, I eat a lot of Greek yogurt daily and that helps too. I feel for you! I know it's not fun! |
Happy birthday Jacqui! Today is bro's birthday as well. (Miracle Mark is 50.) I absolutely think that the Coke Zero is the root of all evil. Everything diet wise turned around when I kicked the habit.
The scales haven't budged in over a week, even though Aunt Flo was gone yesgpterday and I exercised four days straight. I feel puffy, and I'm hoping it's water retention due to my muscle healing after the workouts they've been getting. Break - beef fajita Lunch - beef fajita, black beans Dinner - pizza burger sliders, sweet potato oven fries Snack - cran water |
PrairieQueen, thank you, and Happy Birthday to your brother as well! I knew I liked him, lol! He has my brother's name, my birthday, and he's a true fighter! :D 50 is a big one! I'm so glad he made it! I hope he has many more! :woo: Your body may well indeed be holding water to help repair your muscles. Hang in there!

Happy Belated Birthday to Jacqui and Mark. Mark has a lot to celebrate after what he went through the past year!
Today is an anniversary for DH and I. It is the anniversary of the day we met, 39 years ago. Actually, we originally met in high school, when I was 14 and he was 17. We both went and lived our lives until we ran into each other in 1977 and started dating. PQ, I have been drinking diet cola since it first came out back in the 60s. I never thought of it as contributing to my weight. There was period of time when I drank it to make my stomach feel full so I wouldn't eat. At one point in time, a few years ago I gave up all caffeine, so I was off coffee and diet soda for a while. I didn't see any difference so I am back to both of them, but not as much soda as I used to drink. That's not really intentional. I quit ordering it when we eat out because they fill the glass up with ice and you only get a few sips, and they charge you over $2 for it. I switched to water when I eat out. I also drink more water at home than soda, but still have a few sodas a week. At the time I gave up the caffeine, I was trying to see if it was contributing to my psoriasis. I was off it about a year, but there was no change. Sometimes when we go out to eat, I will take a can of diet coke with me and drink it in the car on the way. DH said "Why are you drinking that? If I drank that before my meal I wouldn't be able to eat my meal." I was thinking "Hello! I really need to eat less! LOL" |
it is protein and fat one must have to survive (and I mean be alive, live, walk, move) :)
there is protein and fat in junk food. all that processed just has fat and little protein from milk products or whatever going into them or what products you are consuming. meat is not needeed to survive. you can get protein from beans absolutely. but we don't need a veggie in our life to absolutely breathe and stay alive is what I meant. if you read up on veggies all plants are toxic to some level to a person in that is their only defense. they can't run, hide or fight really for survival so they do it in their cells. there are tons of great info out there on toxicity of all veg/plants out there in the world. it is very interesting. so while that antioxidant you think helps, there is also some toxicity coming with that in your body really. And lets not forget the big time chemical sprays for farming. A veggie is a veggie like it was nowadays. gmo and all. frankenfood almost in my mind but meat production has its troubles also! But again, this is stuff people read and make their own decisions and I don't want to debate too much cause I am so ZC that I can keep going on and on LOL HA :) I won't bore this thread with it all. we all got plans that work so well for us and key is keep on trucking along. HI ALL misty rainy but sun popping out. going to finish back porch flower pots. love to lounge in my chair and be surrounded by my flowers. so cheery :) have some junk drawers to clean out. so much stuff get thrown in them and drives me nutso, time to weed those out! tuna and mayo for brunch later big old ribeye for dinner whenever everything is going well and I am on plan 100% and doing fine. I 'seem' thinner, my capri pants are getting looser slowly. The lbs. are not dropping alot now at all but I see changes and that is always a good thing :) a real leaner LC body is happening. everyone have a fine saturday and enjoy!! |
ZCA, I agree with so much of what you say and my only objection was to your wording. That it is a "fact" and "natural way of eating" and the "info that's out there." That's your belief, not necessarily fact. There's info out there going both ways. One might feel that their belief is "fact" and others may believe the other. Each person has to read it all and make the decision that's best for them. It's sad that America's food supply is tainted so, and it's true that people eating veggies are getting toxins, other than those like PQ who grow their own. But it's the entire food supply, not just veggies that are tainted, and I don't think you are raising your own livestock. Vegans will tell you how you are subjecting yourself to toxins by eating meat and they will show you info out there that "proves" their position. They think they are right, you think you are right, and I think I'm right. Believe me, I have no issue with you believing what you believe, and the numbers don't lie that it's something that works for you. But I have seen positive benefits to my body from eating a lot of vegetables, and those benefits disappear if I back off. They don't show up on the scale, but they are benefits that I want. So maybe I won't die if I give them up, but I like what I see when I eat them so I continue. I don't want to debate either, because I think we are both right, for ourselves.

Evening ladies! Spent five hours at a good auction today......got myself a few vintage goodies, some to keep, some to sell. I got loads of compliments from folks I hadn't seen since autumn. I was in such a good mood that I fired up the grill for dinner.
Break - leftover wings Lunch - cheeseburger slider Snack - lite beer Dinner - T-bone steak on the grill, last year's sweet corn from the garden, this year's greens salad w/homemade ranch dressing |
oh yea wanna I said the meat production has its own problems. I am a farmer remember :) I had my own hogs, chickens, cows...I processed all my meats with my local friend butcher who has a small family biz. we kept him busy with our livestock.
but now I stopped the farm and and yes I buy store bought. I think in general it is SO hard for me to chat on any forums being a ZC eater and believing what I know to be true from my fact research. And while I surely understand there is facts that sway other ways and I read them, I sway in my direction and you sway in yours. It is best I just don't comment anymore on veggies LOL it is safer that way so we don't go into a bonkers debate that in the end we both won't budge anyway :) :) I think guys I will stay on my ZC forums where like minded chat is very accepted. all other lc forums just don't fit me anymore. I am in my own world at this point LOL |

Good morning, ladies! Things are quiet around these parts lately......
Hi Carol Sue, Jacqui, ZCA, Rennie, Treasa....! Life has been quite busy, but in a good way. I have a little over four more weeks of school and then a big vacation :) In the meantime, I have my garden, auctions, cooking, and kitchen planning. We were going to wait until next summer to get a new kitchen but hubs thinks it's too important to wait that long! So I'm not going to rush, but I am going to start making preliminary "plans" on what I'd like that we can afford. Then I'll get a couple of bids and make a decision hopefully by the end of the summer. Maybe a new kitchen will be installed before Thanksgiving this year! Yesterday's menu... Break - sausage McMuffin Lunch - one slice of pork tenderloin w/rhubarb chutney Dinner - grilled wings, Saratoga chips, and I chose unsweetened tea over a lite beer :) And I'm back down to 139.8 lbs this morning! |
Morning everyone! Gloomy weather here in Ohio today. Bro has to go back in to hospital for a day or two for a bunch of tests....stress test and others to figure out what his night sweats, pounding heart, tingling, etc. is coming from. His bloodwork from a few weeks ago came back excellent and he's not taking anything but antidepressant right now (which is normal they say after a traumatic episode such as his). However, he's been feeling crappy most of the time and is getting worried. His home visit doctor came yesterday and said he should be on other meds still for certain things and set up the cardiologist appt. and tests to start tomorrow. Fingers crossed it's fixable.
Meanwhile, yesterday in Ohio.... Break - sausage McMuffin Lunch - Amy's cheese/bean burrito Dinner - cheeseburger on sourdough, sweet potato oven fries, green beans. My bottom element on my 1960s oven went out two weeks ago and a new one should arrive today......installing it will be my project tonight. I've been baking in the 1940s barn oven and countertop toaster oven since then. That new kitchen is looking better and better. No weight change since yesterday....hoping to keep it moving down :) Last night I made homemade sausage mcmuffins, which saves me 80 calories per breakfast...every little bit helps. |
Is there anybody out there????? Evening all!
Thank goodness it's Friday! What a crazy week at work. Replaced the oven element tonight while the bread machine is doing its magic with the pizza dough. I think I'm going to go crazy with the calories tomorrow. I've had a deep fryer for two years now and haven't even opened the box.....I know, right. I'm still thinking about some honey garlic wings I had at a Chinese place in Florida over spring break and found a recipe that sounds like it could be "it." So I'm going to Walmart for some oil and firing that baby up (in the barn) tomorrow for dinner. I may call our farmer friends and invite them down. I plan on making fried pickles and fries as well. Yesterday's menu.... Break - homemade sausage mcmuffin Snack - almonds Lunch - bunless cheeseburger Snack - almonds Dinner - baked spaghetti from the freezer Today's menu.... Break - homemade sausage mcmuffin Snack - tangelo Lunch - Reds cilantro lime chicken burrito Snack - tangelo Dinner - homemade turkey pepperoni pizza |
Well, even though I'm alone here :( , I'm still posting for my own sanity and accountability. This morning I weighed in at a new personal best. However, I had a planned "fry fest" on for tonight and I still did it.....it was yummy. I got my 6-week fix and I don't feel yucky like I do when I get fried food out in a restaurant. I used peanut oil and little salt in my seasoning. I hoped I'm not punished too harshly on the scale tomorrow. I usually don't record Sunday weights because I usually splurge on Saturdays. We'll see....
Break - leftover pizza Lunch - goetta and a fried egg Dinner - fried wings, mushrooms, and pickles w/buttermilk-blue cheese dip, lite beer Now for a snooze. |
