Hi Sunlover12! :welcome: I'm so glad you're joining us! But oh, I feel so bad that you weren't able to sleep! I just hate when I can't sleep, and I've had many nights like the one you've described. :dz: And the thing is it's during sleep when we lose the most weight (on the scale anyway)! Hopefully, you'll get a really deep, restful sleep tonight! I'm so glad that you have been inspired by my weight loss! I am pretty excited about it, and the really great news is that I never think in terms of "I can't wait till I can get off this diet!" (I always thought that way when I was calorie-counting.) When I finally reach my goal, I intend to continue to follow the slow carb diet, with a modification for fruit and yogurt, in order to maintain my weight. This really is a lifestyle change for me. I am never going back! :carrot:

Missy, I think you've made some good modifications! I hope the scale starts moving for you soon! But you know, if you are building muscle, the scale may poke along, but you will still be losing fat. In losing fat and building muscle, you create a smaller, leaner, healthier, stronger version of you, but the scale isn't always the right measurement tool to show that progress. The scale may just serve to frustrate you when you are building muscle. Have you taken any measurements? I think through measurements you will really be able to gauge your loss. Have you noticed your clothes fitting differently? That's a definite indicator that you are losing fat and getting smaller.

Pamela, lol, a whoosh is when you've been holding water (gaining or maintaining because of it) and then you wake up one morning and almost magically your weight has dropped. You've had a "whoosh" of water weight loss! We often say the Whoosh Fairy visited us overnight, lol!

Rennie, that little bit of water weight is no big deal. You've lost the fat! Water is just masking the loss temporarily right now. Just stay on plan and you'll be fine!

As for me, I weigh 168.5 today! :yay: I am less than 5 lbs away from no longer being overweight! :woohoo:

Holding steady to start week 3

Week 3 of 4
1/15 ~ 172.0 - no change

Jacqui_D 01-15-2014 02:14 PM

Gary, if I remember correctly, you usually hang out in the upper 170's right? So this is a great improvement! And isn't 165, your high school weight, your goal? Look how close you are! You are doing SO well! :cp:

Missy123 01-15-2014 04:13 PM

Jacqui I planned to take measurements, but when I looked for the right sort of tape measure at the local Walgreens I couldn't find one. And since then I haven't gone to look further. I used to work out with weights more and was a lot smaller, so I feel that there is a large amount of new fat on top of my reviving muscles. lol

But....I realize that it takes time. 2 pds per week is my goal. Fingers crossed! :crossed:

Jacqui: Cool.. I'll have to remember that word "Whooosh".. I Like it!

I was out shopping at WalsMart today getting some diet stuff and I found some dressing that has NO CARBS! It's called Walden Farms and very expensive, I wanted to try one of them, but I'm not sure, I'd hate for them to be nasty and waste that money.. has anyone ever tried them? Which ones?

waldenfarms.com

Looks like they have ketchup and bbq sauce as well.. anyone tried those?

P.S. Getting a bit anxious to start this diet already.. So I decided to do this.. save any leftoever frozen dinners for my "FATURDAY" (word I got from one of the YouTube videos on this diet, LOL) and finsh going through my weight watchers products on those days.. and that way, I don't waste anything but start already..

I want to start this coming Sunday or Monday.. which day is best do you think?

OH, what about sugar free chewing gum, anyone know of some good ones we can chew?

Thanks, Pamela

Missy / Slimquick

Hey Missy,

You mentioned you purchased SlimQuick fat Burner.. How do you like it? Does anyone else use it? I checked at WalsMart this morning and its $19.98... I wonder if it's worth it?

Green Tea Drinkers

Do you drink your tea hot or cold? How do you make it.. I bought some this morning, but there are only 20 tea bags in there and when I make iced tea, I brew 6 bags..

Jacqui_D 01-15-2014 07:52 PM

Pamela, I drink hot green tea, but because I am trying to cut way back on Diet Dr. Pepper, which I tend to drink a lot more of in the warmer months, I am hoping to find the discipline when it starts getting warmer outside to make iced green tea. I have a Mrs. Tea teamaker (it's like a Mr. Coffee coffeemaker) and instead of using filters and loose tea (like you would with coffee), I just put a tea bag in there and then run the pot of water through. A teapot makes about 3 cups. If I am making a single cup of tea, I put the teabag in the cup and fill the cup with boiling water. If you like a lighter tea, it only takes about 30 seconds to steep. If you like it stronger, keep the teabag in there longer. I can use a single teabag for 2-3 cups of tea, depending on how strong I make it. For a teapot of tea, I add 2 packets of Splenda. For a single cup of tea, I use a less than a packet of Splenda. I'm thinking 6 teabags for a pitcher of iced green tea sounds about right. I'm not sure though because I haven't tried it yet! :coffee2:

Jacqui_D 01-15-2014 07:58 PM

Oh, and I have never tried Walden Farms products so I can't advise you on them. I would think to be carb-free they'd have to be made with artificial sweeteners, and in my opinion, sugar tastes a lot better than artificial sweeteners (except when it comes to Dr. Pepper, lol) so I don't know how they would taste or if I would like them.

Pamela, lol, green tea is definitely an acquired taste! I grew up drinking Earl Grey, which I love, and it me took a few times to get used to green tea, but now I love it too. :coffee2: There are still some brands of it I don't like though (i.e. Lipton).

Missy, you'll have to let us know how the SlimQuick works! I know Tim Ferriss sells some supplements, but I imagine they're pricy. I, personally, am not one to take a weight loss aid but only because I'm really funny about taking any kind of pills. I kind of have a fear of taking meds, so that fear has probably just been extended to all pills. It's not a fear of swallowing them. I can swallow multiple pills in a single gulp with no problem. I wouldn't take them if they were in liquid form either. I don't know, just a quirk of mine. It's all I can do to take my vitamin D3 and probiotics, lol! The vitamin D3 is prescribed so I have to take it, and I know I need probiotics since I can't eat yogurt daily like I used to. I keep thinking I need to take a B-Complex vitamin too, but I just haven't talked myself into it yet, lol! It will be interesting to see if the SlimQuick works for you though, because I know there are lots of people who would be interested in giving a little boost to their weight loss efforts, especially when they get stuck. So let us know how that works for you!

Rennie, I'm glad you planned for a good night of sleep! I hope you got it!

Jacque 4 more pounds to goal, CHARGE!

I feel good this morning, going to try low to no carb's today, double down for sub 170.

I was using chili as dressing on my salad's and broccoli those days i was dropping pounds. I moved back from homemade lean beef thick tomato chili to chicken no lost pound's. which got me thinking,

chicken breast you buy has been infused with broth sodium i see it on the package, googled the details; Poultry processors, inject chicken with saltwater 500mg of sodium per serving . which calculates to 1/10 of a teaspoon (not much). but eating chicken 4 servings a day that 2000mg of sodium.

next i was not eating salad dressing, chili was my dressing, the base in the chili was thick diced tomatoes, I discovered A 10oz can of diced tomatoes has 62 calories, that's less calories then dab of ranch. point of all this talk, tonight I'm making another batch of chili see what happens.

Week 3 of 4
1/15 ~ 172.0 - no change
1/16 ~ 171.4 -

Jan 1st> 184.8
Results Week 01~ -8lbs
Results Week 02~ -5lbs
Goal > 165

Missy123 01-16-2014 10:57 AM

Whew!!! So this morning I lost 1.4 pds. Yesterday I weighed in at 151.2 (I've been going up and down around 150-154 in the last couple of weeks), and finally I am now in the 140's! Well, I weighed in at 149.8...but I consider that a win!

My Thur goal was to be 149, so I feel this is close enough. Now to continue with my plan to lose 2 pds per week, which seems doable now that I'm past much of the sugar and bread cravings. :dancer:

I packed my boyfriend one of my "day's worth of healthy food" coolers. The yogurt parfait (plan greek yogurt, sprinkling of organic granola, and a tiny bit of blueberries and a sliced strawberry), also a large salad with chicken, and another snack of cut yellow bell pepper, hummus and small packet of guacamole. That's my food all day here at the office until dinner, and it is pretty filling.

Jacqui I think the Slimquick helped me yesterday with the water loss because if you remember before taking this I was reporting feeling bloated. Funny, it has Green tea in it. It also has a bunch of vitamins. I like having the caffeine boost without needing to make coffee in the morning actually. I do like coffee, and think I'll just have it on weekend mornings when I have more time. I have none of the reported side affects. I am starting with the single pill dosage (recommended for the first week), but may bump that up to the double pill dosage. Probably less of a problem for me since I'm not getting caffeine from any other sources now. So far I'd recommend it since losing 1.4 pds in one day is good progress for me! :cheer2:
