Just wanted to let everyone know I am downard spiraling and don't think i am going to stick to this way of eating any longer. I will be back if I do. Best of luck to everyone

Aaaak, when I say "regular tea" I meant, not green tea, so the typical iced tea with sweet-n-low.. I never drink sugary drinks, I can't stand them, too much sugar.. I actually can stick to a "weight watchers" diet, but I think for me right now I need something different to get me off all of the carbs I was having.. because I always felt hungry.
dt.. it's got to be really hard.. I went through that during the holidays while TRYING to be on Weight Watchers.. I finally just gave up trying to do it because of all the holiday foods, things I was making for family get togethers, my girls, etc.. so I totally feel where you are coming from.. maybe you just need a few days off? I think this is what scares me about this diet.. I wasn't going to say anything.. but I did watch a few YouTube videos on this diet where they reviewed the diet and I would say most of them decided to go off the diet because they would loose weight only to gain back after their cheat day, then loose then gain.. never really loosing more than they would gain... like going back and forth.. so the cheat day both excites me and scares me.. I don't want to go through that.. loose it, then gain what I worked so hard for in one day.. so I'm not sure I will give myself every week cheat days.. OR for my cheat day, I do weight watchers where I can have something, I just don't go crazy.. you know? Because it scares me so much.. I hate that this happened to you Dt.. I wish the best for you.. maybe just take a week off, think about things and go back on plan? Pamela |

Dt, I so wish I had some good advice that would make staying on plan easier for you! Unfortunately, there are no short-cuts. The only way to stay on this plan is not to give yourself permission to eat quick carbs, to not allow yourself to think, "this little bit won't hurt," to truly accept that the only day you can cheat is on cheat day, period. After all, what's the purpose of this plan having a cheat day if we can just eat quick carbs on any day we want? The problem for those of us with a carb sensitivity is that quick carbs cause more carb cravings. Eat a little and you'll eat a lot. There's just no easy way around that. I know you can do this! You just have to make up your mind to do it. When you do, if it's tomorrow or months from now, I hope you'll come back to us! I wish you the very best!

I'm reading that we should eat 30 grams of protein within 30 minutes of waking up? Are you doing that? I think that will be hard for me.. who wants to cook at 5:30 a.m.? That's what time I get up to get through my business emails, then I get my girls up at 6:30... after I get the girls to schools to is when I have breafast, about 8:15 ish... is not doing this going to be bad?

Pamela, the idea of cheat day, initially, is scary! But I'm living proof that it can and does work. I haven't seen the youtube videos, but I will say that I don't think this diet is for everyone. It takes discipline, just like any other diet, and some people just can't take a cheat day and then go back to eating strictly low-carb for 6 days. It's just too hard for them. The cheat day triggers them. Or they get into the mindset that if they can have quick carbs on cheat day, then having a few on other days won't hurt either, like it's an "anything goes" kind of diet because it has a cheat day. But the bottom line is just because we get a free pass on cheat day does not mean we get a free pass on other days. In order for this diet to work, one must stay on plan. And it can be a modified plan like most of us are doing, but the modifications have to work. For example, if I wasn't losing weight and I figured out that allowing myself to eat ranch dressing was causing me to want to cheat here and there, I'd have no choice but to cut out ranch dressing because it wouldn't be working for me. It'd be triggering my carb cravings. I'm only going to keep modifications that actually work, and then I'm going to stick to the modified plan without cheating. Otherwise, this plan--like any other weight loss plan--won't work! Again, this plan isn't for everyone, but for those who are willing and able to follow it as it is meant to be followed, it does work! For me, personally, it is absolutely ideal! :D
Edited to Add: To answer your breakfast question: I do not count protein grams or eat within 30 minutes of waking up, lol! |
Rennie, you are fast on my heels! I hope I will be back in the 160's tomorrow, lol! You are doing so well, and I just know you will eventually be able to get off (or at least greatly reduce) the meds you're on! It WILL happen!
As for the bland lentils, I say yes, spice those babies up! Add chili powder, peppers, onions, hot sauce, whatever it takes! :hungry: |
dt, don't leave, even if you don't follow plan keep posting. I'm telling 3FC has saved me many times over the years. If this isn't the plan find one that is. Even counting calories, we all in this together. You can do it, if not this something, it's hard but you can do it, even if it's part of the day, it's better than nothing. I used to do really well during the day and then come home and go crazy so I know :)
Pamela I have the same fear of cheat days. Right now I'm not doing them at all until after February 2nd and then they will be truly planned out. I know me and eating certain things WILL NOT WORK. I have to still keep low carb as in having a low carb tortilla and I'll have to think of other things. But I know it won't be anything that I can't stop eating. I have enough issues with the sodium fluctuations :) Pamela, I get up at 5:30, I am usually eating or drinking something by 6:20. Most of the time it's drinking a shake or a yogurt and a banana or apple which is not on plan and I am on the road by 6:45. My husband usually has to help me out the door with my whatever I'm consuming with my tea :) Gary, I love that … God Speed and Blessings (ditto dt) Jacqui, I wish I had the will to think this and make myself believe it also ---> to not allow yourself to think, "this little bit won't hurt," to truly accept that the only day you can cheat is on cheat day, period. … but it's hard for some like me also, but we know (at least for me and I take it dt) it leads to more cheats like you said, because of the cravings the one cheat brings on, smh. I do love your pep talks they are truly what is keeping me afloat right now. I'm gonna definitely do something with the lentils :) burned 523 calories this evening I hope it does something for the scale in the morning. dt, I hope to see you here tomorrow, even if you eat pizza all day or what ever you like keep posting my friend, the support of this site definitely helps  Week 2 of 5 08 ~ 173.4 (+0.8) LTTM 09 ~ 173.0 (-0.4) LTTM 10 ~ 173.2 (+0.2) 11 ~ 173.4 (+0.2) 12 ~ 172.4 (-1.0) 13 ~ 172.2 (-0.2) 14 ~ |
Rennie, I know that you (and Dt) struggle with resisting quick carbs, and to tell you the truth, I'm glad you want to be careful about how many carbs you allow even on cheat day. But if you have any doubt about "this little bit won't hurt" on the 6 other days of the week, just look at the proof: Sticking to the plan, you've made great strides in losing weight in a very short period of time and your blood sugar has dropped to a much healthier level. When you were cheating almost every day in some way or another, you went around in circles with your weight and your blood sugar level was much higher. I was really worried about you. I tried my best not to be a mother hen, but this is not just about your weight. This is about your eyes, and your feet, and your kidneys, and your mind. Diabetes is a terrible, unforgiving disease, and you need to do battle against it as if it were for your very life, because it is. No food is worth sacrificing your health. Maybe I am so sensitive to this because of all the diabetes in my family--my mother, 3 brothers, my son, my nephew. Only 1 of them, a brother, has type 2 and is lucky enough to be able to control his diabetes through diet, and he has, and you can too! I really want that for you! And for the rest of us who are carb sensitive, if we don't get our act straight, we're headed for type 2 diabetes, because we're producing too much insulin and we are wearing out our receptors. The only way to correct that is to cut back drastically on quick-burning carbs. It doesn't have to be on this diet. It can be on Atkins or any of the low carb diets. I love this diet because with its cheat day, I know I can stick to it long-term because I don't feel deprived. Anyway, I'll get off my soapbox now, lol! :)

Thank you guys. I deleted my pic and Stats and what not because I'm embarrassed for giving up. I really don't know what to do.

dt, delete what you will but keep posting, I have given up so many times, I can't even count them. But I ALWAYS COME BACK, trust me when I say … this is the place to be for support. well I did good, pushing that treadmill and picking up speed is helping. Jacqui, Rennie, Gary, or anyone else, I don't know if you saw this post of mine? I'll repost it here in case:

Dt, you don't have to be embarrassed! We all know what it's like! There is not one of us who hasn't "given up" along the line. Look at my green ticker. That was in 2009. It took me four YEARS to get started again and to come back to 3FC after I "gave up." I didn't come back until this past July of 2013. And look at you! You're back here today! That says you have NOT given up on yourself! You're just struggling, that's all! We've all struggled! NONE of us is perfect. We're going to mess up! I agree with Rennie. Don't leave us. Stay with us here and do what you can. Even if you can only cut back some and you lose 1 lb a month, that's 12 lbs that you'll lose this year and ZERO gained. That's going in the right direction! But you know, I bet you will lose a lot more than 12 lbs, because I really believe you have what it takes. You just have to tap into it, and if that means tapping into it little by little, then just do what you can! Stay with us Dt. Don't give up. We care about you and want the best for you!
TwoTots, I'm so glad you're back on plan now! Good to have you back! :high: Rennie, yay on a new low!!! :carrot: Gary, congrats on losing 5 lbs this week! Wow! :broc: I need to get some of that tea, lol! And thank you so much for your kind words. It means a lot to me! |
