It has been a whirlwind of a week. My youngest son, who has been seizure free for 9 months, decided to start having seizures again the day after daddy left for another military trip. We were in the hospital for a couple days. I packed HNS, my pills, and a couple Meal Replacement bars. I happily can say I stayed 100% on plan but ate chicken EVERYDAY! I didn't get a chance to exercise except for the small walks from neurology, to EEG, back to our room, and around the hallways. I went in today to see how bad it was and was actually down 2.5 lbs. I was sure the stress alone would have added at least that much.
My consultant today made me realize that I am down 35 lbs and am only 16 away from goal. After this week I am ready for a beer. At least I should be at goal before my hubby gets home. What a great surpise to show him my new body!!
Sorry to hear about your son...but WAY TO GO staying OP! For real! That was a feat to stay OP away from home and under stress. I am proud of you girl! And keep it up and show your hubby your hot new bod when he comes home! Jealous you are so close to goal! I can't wait to be there.
I just obtained my personal training certification, and am discouraged to see that exercise is not encouraged among you ladies. It's so darn good for you and it feels great.
Plus, it is good for depression, self confidence, etc. AND building muscle makes your metabolism faster. So you might spike up or "plateau" for a month, but after that, you are becoming a fat burning machine. Call me crazy, but exercise is wonderful and absolutely necessary. I digress.
I am on Day 5 and I am excited. I haven't weighed, because I don't want to obsess. I'm just staying OP. I may go ahead and weigh, I may not. I MUST have your support, though. I can't do this alone.
Thank you!
JOY
Joy, I don't know where you read that we discourage exercise? I think every post I've read, everyone is getting it in! I know that I am starting off slow, only because I haven't exercised in quite a while! I normally do sand volleyball in the Spring, Summer, and Fall - even at 280lbs. But this year I am thinking more of things I can do at home & with my family. We were planing on picking up walking, but overnight we got 2 inches of ice and snow, so we'll have to pick it up on Sunday provided it doesn't rain.
Additionally - that is what this forum is for - SUPPORT!! It's a change of life, not a diet.. so I'm behind you 100%!!!!
I have found when out with friends who are drinking, I order a club soda with lime...it sort of looks like a drink so no one asks "why aren't you drinking" and I can sip with no regrets!
Excellent suggestion! I will give it a try on Saturday! Thanks!
Hi..
I weighed in and lost .7 pounds. 1 1/2 pounds to go towards goal.
Struggling Nicole.. So sorry to hear about your child. Be proud of yourself staying OP.. Good for you.
As for exercise, my center does encourage it. Always asks how much and what kind each time we go.. They are having a boot camp next month, that involves exercises for an hour at the main center. They also have yoga.
Congratulations to all of you that have lost weight.
I've been totally frustrated this week because the scale actually went up 2 pounds on Monday (even though I've been OP), but now it's back down to where it was at the end of last week, which means absolutely ZERO pounds lost this week. Boo! So, I was getting really down on myself. At today's weigh-in, I got measured and had a body composition run. Even though I've only lost 6 pounds since the beginning of February, I've gained 2 pounds of muscle, dropped my body fat by over 2% and lost 14.5 inches - just since the beginning of the month! Woohoo! That totally turned my frown upside-down. So, if you'll excuse me, I'd like to put all of those silly dancing critters at the end of this message.
Woohoo! I lost 1.5 pounds at weigh in today!! Down 37 pounds! I reallly want to hit the 40 pound board (and we out of the 170s) by the 1st...so I'll have to be super good while I'm out of town this weekend. But its doable...right?
Congrats! You will sign the 40lb board before you know it!
Thanks for the celebration with me! I am going home for the weekend for some family time and to go to a pageant at my college to cheer on a friend competing (Yes, I'm a pageant junky! They are big deals around here...) But I have all my pills and HNS packed and told mom where I could eat and gave her some suggestions for cooking...so I hope to do well this weekend! :-)
Any challenges for you guys this weekend? How are you planning ahead and working it out?
Yes a have a big challenge. I am throwing a baby shower for my friend w/a guest list of 100 people. It was a huge undertaking and there will be lots of yummy food, but I plan on taking a mrs & hns with me to hold me over. I will be so relived once this baby shower is over. I love my friend, but 100 people was CRAZY planning & she turned into baby-showerzilla in the process.
I do have challenges this weekend - school exams & my sister invited us out to a bar for a "beach party". While I love hanging out with family and friends, I don't see alcohol on my list!
This is an area where I really have challenges, because I am such a social drinker.
7 1/2 pounds lost at WI on Thursday - I hope to sign the 10lb board by next Thursday, so I decided to set some goals for myself at every 5 lbs lost... hopefully this will keep me on track for many more weekends to come!
You can do it! Have fun at the beach party. Maybe always having a drink (water) in your hand will help. I am making sangria for 100 people tomorrow and am that I can't drink any. A girl could only dream haha.
Hello! I restarted this diet. We have a center coming to a town nearby sometime soon, but I am doing this on my own until then. I pulled out all my stuff. I even made a new food sheet which includes checkboxes - it's cool.
I am on Day 5, so I am excited to have cooked veggies for dinner tonight, instead of salad. And let me add, I hate italian dressing. It sucks. Other than that, things are going well.
I drink whey protein shakes with skim milk or "1/2 of a pure protein bar" for my HNS. I take Lipo6X for my fatburner, and GNC Women's Multi's.

Cheers to you for losing on a stressful week & congrats on your 35lbs. loss!! I hope your soon gets to feeling better soon (from a fellow seizure sufferer).
