I did the full 7 days of MetaQuick and had migraines/headaches on and off the entire week. This is not unusual for me (I get chronic migraines which luckily I have awesome meds for so I am able to still function like a normal person!), and any time I make any big change in my diet I get migraine-y. My center told me that the reason for the migraines is that we store estrogen in our fat cells, and when we flush our systems/reboot we get a large release of estrogen as we lose fat. This makes perfect sense to me, since my migraines tend to be primarily triggered by hormonal stuff. Anyway, I powered through the headaches and took Advil and Maxalt (migraine prescription) as needed. It wasn't the greatest, but since I am so used to living life with headaches it was kinda par for the course for me. I can completely see why anyone not used to it would not want to subject themselves to MetaQuick headaches!
I've been back on regular plan food for 2 days and am already missing the convenience of MetaQuick. I HATE packing so much food around all the time! I WI tomorrow and am going to pick up some more premade shakes to use as meal replacements a few times a week. I think the limit is 3 times per week, but I wish I could just do shakes for lunch every day.
I am glad you said that about the headaches. I feel great this morning, but I am telling ya, it was terrible yesterday.
I LOVE the shakes and I have had a busier that normal week this week so the bars and shakes have been awesome (and a break from the lunch veggies)
Hi! Most of you do not know me. I was able to post for quite a while, but family and health issues got in the way. My name is Oreoparent. I started at 269.7lbs. I had gotten down to 212, but could not seem to lose anymore. Then, my health got all wacky and I gained a lot of it back. I do not have a colon - had it removed in 1991 because of ulcerative colitis. So, my diet is complicated. I cannot have raw fruits and veggies, red meat, spicy things, nuts, seeds, and many other yummy things. I can only eat cooked green beans, cauliflower, and broccoli. I eat Beechnut Stage 1 green beans for a veggie for lunch when I am away from home and Stage 2 Apples and blueberries for a fruit. I have a myriad of health problems and take lots of medicine.
I have been doing Wii Fit faithfully since October. It is very motivating even though I am limited in what I can do. I had been told that I needed knee replacements, but could not have them until I was 50. I am 37. This is another reason I got discouraged. I was originally told that if I started losing weight I could have the partial replacements. Well, all of that was false!! I have recently learned that I have meniscus tears in both knees and a pinpoint fracture in the left knee. This what what they believe is causing the majority of the pain. I should be having the surgery on my right knee in March. Since MRC was originally created to help bedridden people lose weight, it should be a perfect fir for me since I will not be able to do Wii Fit during rehabilitation.
I am excited to be back. I have some weeks left at MRC, but cannot afford to go back. I have been buying my supplements and bars from diet direct, but that has gotten to be too costly. I plan on buying the ingredients for Meemo's concoctions tomorrow. She is very wise. I have always learned a lot from her and the other veterans. I look forward to joining our group's journey toward healthier lives in 2009!
Thanks!

I have been on blood pressure medication since I was 25 and yesterday when I went to the doctor he told me that I can wean myself off of it most likely in its entirety. Because of the kind of medication that I take I have to decrease it slowly on a weekly basis. I just have to monitor and as long as I am staying below 120/80 I can keep removing it....I am SO EXCITED about this!!

CONGRATS! That's a great NSV! That's definitely something to be excited about!
This morning I weighed in and lost another 2lbs since Tuesday, making it a total of 2.8 for the week. So happy! We are having another "Biggest Loser" contest at my center for Super Bowl Weekend. It started today and we weigh in on Monday or Tuesday to see who wins. I know I got this one again because my Mom and I planned a massage a month ago and it happens to be on SB Sunday. I won't even be around any temptations so it will be a breeze! I'm on day 3 of the Meta-Quik plan. I am hungary between meals, but I am mutteling through it because getting off the weight is a bigger priority than eating. Plus it's not like I'm going to be on the Meta-Quik forever. I have not experienced any headaches either. Iv'e notice inches melting off too! I am so excited about my new body *yay*.

That's the best NSV ever!!!! It stinks to depend on meds to be healthy....I might check to see if I can be taken off my Metformin when I reach my goal. We'll see :0)

Welcome back!! I'm sorry to hear about the health issues you've been having. It is good to know that it is still possible to lose weight without exercise! I joined in Sept. and didn't start regular exercise until the beginning of Dec. and I still lost at almost 3lbs. a week.
Welcome back, Oreo! (And thanks for the kind words )
Sorry to hear about your knees - I had a small meniscus tear recently & one was enough for me.
There hasn't been a Donuts siting here for a good while now. I've never checked any of the other areas of 3FC to see if he's posting somewhere else (exercise or maybe maintainers areas).
Oreo ... welcome back! I'm still here, recently following everything again ... holidays 2007 were a breeze for me, 2008 -- not so much! So now I've had a set-back, but am recommitted (again! lol) and things are going much more slowly even though I'm faithfully following everything, but I know if I stick with it my body will recover from the shock and start working again! Nice to see you back.

HOLY CRAP I HAD NO CLUE!! i've been getting a headache every afternoon shortly after lunch for about three days in a row until these last two days where i ate a late lunch. that coincides with losing the most i've lost in a week to date 3.5 lbs. just WOW. so glad to know that. i thought maybe it was that i was doing the minimum two hns a day because i added that extra protein in the evenings about the same time as the headaches quit.
so here's a question then. is aleve ok on plan or just aspirin because i tend to build up a tolerance to things and they stop working. i have to take 4 aspirin to get any kind of relief but only one aleve.

My take is this: take what works. For me, ibuprofen works for body aches (or Excedrin for a headache). I know that ibuprofen makes me retain water. I know Excedrin has some caffeine in it. But if I'm hurting, I'll take it, and risk taking a hit on the scales for one weigh-in if the timing is "right". (Or in this case, wrong.)
Also, I can't find the 'how to make your ticker' thread anywhere. Help!
Just go to user CP. At the top it shows a ticker and says click here to get one. Follow the prompts. When you finish there will be hypertext. Copy the text and paste into your signature back at user CP. Remember to save your signature.
I'm happy to report that finally I seem to have found my willpower, mojo, or whatever it was I had last year when I started MRC, and seemed to have lost.
I have been totally on plan for 4 days, which is a nice little streak. The more days under my belt, the easier it is.
The next big challenge will be on Tuesday. I am meeting a girlfriend who I haven't seen for a couple of years for "a glass of wine" I've already decided that I'll just be getting sparkling water. I know she'll understand and a glass of wine isn't worth breaking my streak.
I've also been doing 30 minutes a day on the eliptical machine. Hopefully this weight plateau will break soon!
Well, well, well. Again, it's good to see familiar names and faces. It's so embarrassing to have messed up so badly again and to, once again, be here trying to reconnect. I've made an appointment to go back to my MRC center (or as Sam hears and says it, "the Mercy Center") on Tuesday to see if I can't kick start myself and get back on track. Our wedding is May 30 and it just isn't acceptable to me to be weighing 200 again. Life is so sweet these days and love is so joyful. I just need to do this to take care of myself. Anyway, here I am again, ONE MORE TIME.
