Huh... I never knew you gained weight when you ovulated. Interesting!

I am on birth control so I don't have that excuse :X I know I gain like 10 lbs when I am on my period ( I hate being bloated) so I never weigh in that week, because I usually lose more and then some when I weigh back in the week after.

Do you think birth control makes you gain weight? My OBGYN said no, it shouldn't, but it seems like every time I change brands I gain about 5-10 lbs over the next 3-4 months of starting the new brand.

Sorry again Dan.. girl talk...

lol, no worries and some birth control can make females gain, depends on which birth control, my ex was having that issue too! Of course, what do I know, so I am sure you will get a lot of great input. Hang in there! Dan-O

Love Diet,
For me ovulation means bloating & more bloating and lots of pain. I have been on birth control pills just so that I don't ovulate because it can be that bad for me & also others I know. The increase on the scale is a temporary one, but not what you want to see after working hard on plan all week.

Hey Dan,
From what I understand we have to be registered users on here for 20 days before we have the ticker/signature option. I could be wrong & if so let me know so I can get mine. I have gone in to the "user CP" to see if there is a place for me to add one but I dont see anything yet.

lovediet- I have to agree with whoever talked about detox. That sounds like what is happening to you. If that is the case, you should start to get some relief after 3-4 days as long as you are not reaching for whatever it is you are detoxing from to make yourself feel better. I could be that this is not the diet for you. But you owe it to yourself to stick to it the way it is intended long enough to find out. Adding in carbs will make this into nothing more than a diet that is so low in calories that it will make your body resist loosing weight. You are not doing yourself any favors.

Itstime- I can think of 2 things that could keep you from loosing weight. The most glaring would be that homemade muffin. The nutrition of the medifast meals is very spcific to keep your body from resisting weight loss at such a low caloric intake. If your body is not getting the nutrients that is needs to keep it from thinking that you are starving it will slow your metabolism to keep from loosing fat. Medifast does not require you to eat the bars. They even discourage using them if you don't feel you need the treat. Medifast recommends that you don't eat them at all if you quit loosing weight. I know they slow my weight loss, so I rarely eat them. I stick to the lower calorie and carb meals.

The other thing that could delay weight loss id your diet before you went on Medifast. I was on a very low calorie/carb diet before Medifast. So when I started Medifast, I actually was increasing my calories and carbs. I went into a 2 week plateau. But I stuck with it and once I started loosing, It has come off steadily since then.

Keep working it...You will find the combination that works!

Dan- You have to be a 3fc member for 20 days and post at least 20 times to get a ticker. Once you do that, the edit signature will show up in your control panel and you will be able to get a ticker.
I have to say...I love your attitude. You are such a positive addition to the board!

Susan- Glad you liked the shake! And You are really doing great sticking to plan! You are such a looser! I mean that in the good way!

Forgot to post my NSV!
Went shopping for jeans...I was having a hard time finding any 14 talls. The sales lady talked me into trying on some 12 talls. She said they were kind of strechy so she tells people to buy them on them a little tight so they will fit right when they strech. Well...I got them on, zipped and buttoned!!! They are tight...Major muffin top going on...but with a loose top I could get away with them. So what if I don't wear them in public for a few weeks...I like them and I LOVE that they are a size 12...Of course I bought them!

So those are my new Vegas inspiration jeans! My goal is to wear them comforably when I go to Las Vegas for Thanksgiving!

I'm staying at my sister's house this time...She moved to Vegas this year...Last year I stayed at Mandalay Bay. Went to see the Cirque du Soliel show Zumanity and Blue Man Group. Both Great shows. I LOVE Las Vegas! So much to do there!
I'm jealous of the Elton John show! I was a huge fan back in the old High School days. And some things you just don't get over!

Way to go Djay! I did the same thing the other day. I tried on a pair of 12's just to see, and darn if I didnt get 'em zipped up!!!!!! Same here, muffin top! I put them back and told those darlings Id be back in 20 pounds. Heehee.

Lovediet, since MF is Dr. recommended and approved you should refer to one. This doesnt sound very good. Did you say sweating so bad you soak your t-shirt? It could just be detox, but please check to be on the safe side. At least a consulting nurse...
BTW the wedding/costume sounds like mass fun! You should totally post a pic!
Hey Dan-O, I'm sure this is not the first time you've had to endure "girl talk"!

Itstime, you just hang in there! I know all about "why arent I loosing?" One thing that I really started watching was my mesurments. They help out way better. Also little queus... Like when my wedding ring no longer made my finger look like a sausage, or when I was able to zip up an old pair of jeans. Are you exercising? could you be transfering the #"s as in loosing fat but adding muscle? Are you drinking enough water? Just keep it up, you WILL get results!
We had tacos tonight for dinner, mine were in a lettuce shell. I just used lettuce to wrap up some meat and avacado! this was rocken!
So, I have only 7 more pounds to go until Im at long lost low, At 185, I havent been there since right before I got pregs with ds#2. I am STOKED!!!! I can do it! (I love your influence Dan-O)
Have a great tomorrow! Be fantastic! Missy

Susan: I definitely am ovulating this week LOL. I never really thought I put on weight during that time - but maybe I do. During TOM, I *know* not to even walk near a scale LOL. So I'll cross fingers that it might be the ovu thing ... anything to keep me motivated *grin*''

lovediet: birth control pills definitely can make you gain weight. Have you been feeling any better? Reading the responses to your post and people saying it's detox before you go into ketosis and the pounds melt away, I'm like "oh wait, I don't feel like crap - maybe I'm missing the whole detox/ ketosis thing! Oh no!" How lame is that? LOL. But, seriously, hope you'll feel good soon and get in a groove.

Dan: I don't have my avi yet either - gotta figure that one out myself.

Djay: yay on the size 12's and I'm totally jealous on vegas!

missygirth: Isn't it funny how we have pre-kid weight and post-kid weight so clearly defined ... it's like where the battle ground is drawn LOL. Glad you're almost across the border.

Thanks for the encouragement everyone. I'm definitely sticking to this because I know I will figure it out and I just feel too good to not do it. You guys have given me quite a bit to think about. I'm not exercising yet because I thought we're supposed to wait ... did you guys/gals wait on exercise or keep going/ jump right back in in your first weeks? I'd love to do some weight lifting. Djay, I wasn't dieting before I started this - I was actually eating way too much junk and an embarrassing # of calories.

I THOUGHT I was measuring things right and all - but now I'm second guessing myself because, if nothing else, it must be user-error, so I'm going to triple check in the next few days to make sure I'm not counting wrong or something. I think my biggest problem is that lunch thing. I don't have to have the bar, but I do have to have one of their "meals/snacks" in addition to my shake (they have things like soup) but they're all soy. If I don't replace that with something, then I'm down 150 calories for the day, which I worry will be too low and my body will go in starvation mode (if that's a real phenomenon). I guess I could have two shakes instead?

OK .... you guys probably noticed ... I'm very long-winded and my posts are always too long. Sorry. I have trouble being "brief". My DH teases me about it all the time *embarassed*

Missy! Doesn't it feel great to even think of taking a size 12 into the dressing room with you! And to think I had given up and ordered size 20's in April! It seems crazy!

Dan- I am definatly going to check into that Elton show! I havn't even looked to see what shows I want to go to this trip. I guess I better get crackin before they are all sold out. Elton is at the top of the list!

Oh Susan...The 12's are much to tight to wear...But it won't be long. And you can bet I will be trying them on every time I loose a pound!

Itstime-Good luck on finding the combination to get the scale moving. I know how frustrating it is to stick to plan and not see results. I have been there...so believe me when I tell you that if you stick to it...It WILL happen. Your body can only resist for so long. You just have to be more stubborn than your body. So channel your inner teenager, dig in your heals and keep going!
