Welcome Teacherself! And Good Luck to You! Check back with us and let us know how it is going!
Missy- The bike should be great fun! and wonderfule excersise. You are going to need it to keep up with those boys!
Susan- How did your shake turn out?
I got 'interesting' news yesterday. My DD informed me that Riley will be a big sister in June! I am trying to be as happy as they are about it. My DD graduates from College in May. I just wish that they would have waited til after she got a job and career started to get pregnanat. Oh well...I guess they will work it out somehow.
FINALLY! I got my medifast in! So, day 1 is today. I've allready been kinda naughty because I had yogurt this morning, but the fedex guy JUST showed up and I am the type that if I dont eat something right when I get up I get sick.
Ah well, a lil yogurt won't kill me. This weekend will be the killer though because we are going home to my boyfriend's mom's house for his sister's wedding. She is a southern woman and it is hard to convince her that you can't eat her cooking (ha ha) anyway, We shall see how I survive day 1!
I am still planning on going to curves today and continuing to work out, but we will see how tired I feel by 4 pm
Okay, I know this is a bit off topic, but has anyone gotten their flu and/or pneumonia shot this year? Did you find that your arm really hurt for a while after?
I got mine on Saturday and my arm STILL hurts! Sore enough that it keeps waking me up at night and is sensitive to even the slightest touch. I've had the shot before and never had it hurt for more than a day. This is worse than when I got my tetnus shot renewed last year.
I wonder if she just didn't put it in the right place or what. I feel like I have dead arm!
Lovediet, wishing you a fabulous first day! You'll do great!
(thinking, "ew" thats why I dont do flu shots)
Djay, a new baby coming! Yipee! I LOVE babies, and you know what, the timing will all work out, you know that, silly. If its the right time, its the right time and God knows that. OOOOOOO, when is it due? EXCITING!!!! (musical tone to my voice)
Missy
My boyfriend's sister is having a renaissance wedding this weekend and I am a bridesmaid so I will be wearing a renaissance dress, (I was told on VERY short notice, but oh well .)
So this year I am going use that dress as my Halloween costume. Even though it is just me and my boyfriend living together, I am still going to carve pumpkins next week and set them out in front of the house. Yes, I know, I am a big kid .
In any case, we have a lot of kiddies in this neighborhood, so if they come "trick or treating" I'll be dressed up and ready for them.
So far I haven't been hungry! (yay me!) and I really like the chicken & wild rice soup. Boy have I been tired though, but that could be because my arm kept waking me up. So maybe I won't excercise today... we will see.
This diet so far has been easier than I thought.. we will see what I say by the end of the day haha
Lovediet~ I do remember one year when I got my flu shot I did have what was called "an injection site reaction" My arm was so swollen, red & very, very sore to the touch & even if it wasn't touched it ached. I have to tell you it took at least a week to go away, almost 10 days. I remember it well. Good luck on thr MF plan, stay strong, the wedding could be tough but hang in there.
Djay~ I went out today to get some instant coffee & made a shake when I got home & you are right, that was such a treat. Congratulations on the new baby! I know we sometimes wish timing was different but when you really think about it, when is a perfect time? Everything will be fine & soon you will have a newborn to cuddle.
It was a tough first day on MF yesterday. I wasn't hungry or anything and I was drinking water/medifast every 2 hours, but by the afternoon, I had a hypoglycemic attack. These are rare for me, but it runs in my family, (with mom especially) so I know what the symptoms are. I was shaking, sweating, and I had quite a bit of mental cloudiness/confusion. I broke down and made salad with chicken and ate my lean & green in the afternoon, but after an hour it still wasn't helping, so I ate a whole wheat roll and just a tad bit of rice, because I know carbs always help and within about 15 minutes I felt a ton better.
I guess I am going to have to supplement a little bit of carbs during the day with my MF so I don't feel so rotten :/...
Other than that the meals seemed to be just fine, except for the tropical punch, which just tasted like chalky pepto bismol to me. Any tips on making this taste better??
Hi Lovediet, Maybe the sweats and shakes could possibly be your body de-toxing?
I'm not sure you should add carbs to your MF plan being that carbs are to be very limited. I would think that even if they are whole grain carbs they will probably throw you body off of the fat burning mode it is trying to get into.
Give it a chance and see what happens. Good luck.
I know additional carbs on this plan are a no-no, but I think that medifast might not be giving me enough sugars so my blood sugar dips too low...
I am trying to be good today and go all day without an additional carb, but so far I feel awful. I am having headaches, I am having heartburn, I am dizzy, shaky, tired, mentally not all there and sweating so much I've soaked my tee shirt. Usually this only happens when I don't eat. I just don't think I can continue it whole heartedly if I feel miserable...
I think that I am going to have to continue this plan more similar to the maintenance plan and have 1 regular meal a day, just so I will feel normal. Maybe I can more ease my body into less calories? I am going to try this plan with a normal meal for a week and see how I feel/how much I've lost. If it isn't significant, maybe I'll sell it on ebay and go back to nutrisystem (sigh)
Unless anyone has any ideas to make feeling miserable go away...
Well, I'm on Day 5. It's going great. I'm not hungry (and in fact made the mistake of forgetting afternoon snack yesterday, which I won't do again - got a bit dizzy by late dinner hour - but was fine as soon as I ate). IN fact, I haven't felt this physically energetic and mentally clear in YEARS!! The reason for that is, turns out I am allergic to wheat!! (just had my allergist appointment this week to get blood results back). As I mentioned in an earlier post, I have a ton of food allergies, but I didn't know about the wheat. It actually showed on my lasts allergy test two years ago, but the doc failed to mention it . Anyway, I don't know if it's the diet or cutting out the wheat for 5 days but I feel so good, I could cry.
The only (and major) problem I'm having is - I haven't lost ANY weight. At 5 days in, I expected to see something on the scale, but this morning I could almost cry when I saw I hadn't lost anything. I hear so many success stories of quite a bit of pounds on the first week especially that I was really dissapointment. And honestly I'm feeling scared. Maybe my body is some weird mutant that just won't lose weight ever! (okay, I know I'm being melodramatic, but that's where my head truly does go). But, luckily, I feel so good and so not hungry on the diet that I will keep going forward. I have no choice but to give it my all (and this is the only diet I've done that I feel is truly doable).
Any ideas why I didn't lose anything though?
(DETAILS OF MY EATING IF YOU'RE CURIOUS): my lean and greens have been two nights of fish and veggies (like broccoli, peppers, mushrooms, etc). I had two nights of scrambled eggwhites with veggies, and another night I had squash with shrimp. The places where I see I didn't do the ideal thing was using a pat of butter on the shrimp one night (but it really was a pat and it was just one time, though I know I shouldn't have). And I do have to make substitution for the breakfast bar at lunchtime ((I'm supposed to have a shake and one breakfast bar) because it's soy and I can't eat that, so instead I've been having my shake and a muffin (which I make myself and it's very healthy and the same number of calories that the bars are ... I put oat bran, banana and whey protein powder in it). Could it be the muffins? How is that possible if they are the same calorie (and same carb grams) as the bars? that's why I chose them. Argh! Okay, sorry to go on. Just a bit dumbfounded.
lovediet: I'm sorry you are feeling so awful. Check in with your doctor. If you suffer from hypoglycemia, then you have to know what carbs you need to stay healthy.
Djay: Congratulations on the grandbaby (and the your granddaughter's picture is adorable!). I know what you mean about timing. I am almost 36, but have a 23 year old sister. She has a 4 year old son and just told me she's pregnant with #2. I am happy for her and will love my new niece/nephew a ton, but I wish she had waited to get herself better on her feet. I've always been kind of her second momma and I'm looking out for her future. But I know she'll work it out and things will fall into place as life does.
Hi Missy! You are so right, WE and YOU can do it! So step away from the pizza! "grin" Hang in there, were are here to support you!
How is everyone?
lovediet, I just had a flu shot on Monday and for the first time ever it Made a BIG bump and was a tad bit sore, the soreness went away quick and the bump was finally gone today. I had pneumonia shot last year and it's only every 5 years! Whew! "grin"
Welcome TeacherSelf!!!!! YOU can do it! We are all here to support you!
djay, Cute Photo of the grand baby and Congrats!
Lovediet, Make sure you are eating Every 2 - 3 hours, make sure you are eating your breakfast within 30 minutes of rising in the morning. Try to drink 16 oz. of water right before you have your meals, you can spread your water out this way and still get it all in without making you light headed. I had the same experience you are having and I have to say it was SO worth it! After day 5 I went into the mild form of ketosis medifast puts us in and the hunger WENT away, but the tiredness got worse, but I put up with as the scale was Taking GREAT care of me! So, hang in there. Make sure you are eating your fats and all of your lean and green too. Not that you aren't but can be a tiny bit confusing in the beginning. Should you have any questions, we are all happy to help you! If you get tired and you "can" just take a nap........... Feel better soon!
Personally, I weigh weekly I can't handle the daily ups and downs of the scale, just fyi to anyone.
itstime, I can understand your frustration, especially the first week! Are you weighing and measuring, eating the low carb veggie's, only using 3 condiment choices, making sure since you are having fish that you adding in your fat servings needed? Water, Water, water, Happy to help you and review your records should you ever need help!
I love Medifast and we can do it!
This is a great group. I lost 48 this week putting me at 85 lbs gone in 16 weeks. So, stay on plan, it does work!
ItsTime,
There is one week month when I never weigh myself no matter what diet plan I was following. This is the week that I ovulate (sorry Dan, girl talk).
That week I will always either show a gain or stay the same. Knowing this I now just stay away & visit the scale the next week. Could it be that for you?
Susan
