Djay- The FIRM is a bunch of exercise videos that you used to only be able to get on infomercials but you can get them in WalMart and Target now and other places. Some of them you use steps and weights with and other accessories. The ones I have done in the past are great and really kick butt
Well, I just got back from a 5500 mile road trip through 18 states, pretty much every state between NH and TX. As you might guess, I didn't really stay OP and know I have gained back at least 10lbs, as I can feel it in my clothes. I have decided not to get back on Medifast until Monday, when school starts. I'm going to eat some of the food I bought while on vacation and slowly cut back on calories until Monday. I just can't bear the thought of stepping on a scale until I have tried to cut back a little first.
How has everyone been? I haven't read through the thread yet, but I hope everyone is doing ok. Before I left for vacation, I saw 279 on the scale...I really hope I didn't do too much damage, though I know in my heart I did gain back a substantial amount. The friend I was with researched the best places to eat in every city we stopped in, so at least the food I ate off plan was pretty dang tasty.
Romans, I wish I had advice for you, as I have the exact opposite problem with Medifast. It is not consistent with me, but an occasional relapse. I think soy is hard for some people to digest, unfortunately.
Well, I have to blanche and freeze some tomatoes my mom gave me before they rot. I'll definitely be posting more starting Monday when I get my butt back into weightloss mode. I do have some pictures from my trip (mostly history related, as that is what I teach), but if anyone is interested, just PM me. I don't want to post the link publicly.
Wowee Jen, so glad to have you back! Sounds like an incredible trip! I'll PM you... I love pictures, and of course, where would we be without history!
Romans, OMG I am so sorry to hear of your, *ahem*, back up. You might want to call your doctor to see if there is any other problem... the tried and true still rules though, FIBER (to bulk AND loosen, it really does regulate the stuff) and LOTS of water to move it along. You gotta get those leafy greens in! And walking! Here is a good reference, http://www.gicare.com/pated/ecdgs07.htm
Ok, so a blessing in disguise happened to me today. I cut myself shaving my legs this morning. Not just a nick, but a full on scrape off a HUGE chunk of skin, cant stop bleeding, it stings so bad I actually think I may cry cut! IT HURT LIKE CRAZY!!!!!!!
I thought, I havnt cut myself like this since I was about 14, back when I had more bone and less fat... yeah, back when I had less fat! Sweet! LOL
Catwuv, I LOVE the name Pennie! Too awesome!
Djay, thanks for the words of encouragment, I actually am not too sad over the plataeu, my clothes fit so great! I actually gave away some of my clothes. BUT i did go way off program this nite. I had popcorn and pizza! LOL, ah well, Ill go back op tomorrow. Starting the firm has kicked my tush! wow, the sweat coming from my body...
We leave for the beach monday morn! A yurt, ON the beach, in beautiful Newport Oregon! Yeeha.!!!
XOXO Missy
So glad to see you Jen. Your trip sounds great. History was always one of my favs. I took lots of it. The food sounds like it was worth it (at least a temporary set back). Good luck getting back op Monday.
Missy...sorry about the cut, but at least you can notice the loss in another way. Oh the hazards of being skinny (I would know nothing about that)!!
So, I guess I am gonna try citrucel or something like that. Something tasteless to mix with water. I am already eating all the veggies I can stand! I think what Jen said about some people not being able to digest soy well makes sense. A friend of mine said that she heard about a friend of a friend that got so constipated on Medifast that she was admitted to the hospital! My body is used to raisan bran every morning. It doesn't know what is going on!!
Has anyone tried one of those colon cleansing things before. My husband is from Jamaica and he says they use them regularly there. I don't know. just kinda scares me! anywho....time to do some work.
Romans- after my dd had a bout with constipation that nearly landed her in the hospital, I made some changes that I think helped alot. For one thing, the doctor told her that stayin nthat backed up causes alot of health problems including slow matabolism. She recomended at least one round of magnesium citrate to get cleaned out...repeat if nessessary...then a lot of fiber. I now add Benefiber 3x per day to my shakes. I have no problems. And since I got cleaned out and added the fiber, my plateau broke and I am loosing weight again. I think that did the trick. I also have a lot more energy. Not sure if that is from the weight loss/excersise or being regular or both.
Jen - Glad to see you back safe and sound. Sounds like a great trip! Any updates on the budding romance you started before you left?
Missy- What a great attitude you have. Hope you have a great vacation! Enjoy that precious family time. Can't wait to hear all about it
Gator- Thanks for the info...I'll check it out.
Laying low here this weekend after my disaster week last week. Just trying to work up the will power to go work out...Maybe if I get my behind off the computer, that would help huh?!?
Looking foward to the beach! yay!
I LOVE knowing everyones real name... Mistie, I would absolutly do a colonics, if i had the money, (maybe i do, and just dont know it, how much $ I wonder... hmmm) So many things i have read about health seem to have some kind of connection to our digestive system in one way or another, health, energy, metabolizm... I used to go every 2 to 3 days until about 10 years ago, when i heard that wasnt actually good for you. I dont know if it was phycological or what but since then its every morning, sometimes in the evening too. I eat lots of fiber and am always looking for ways to add more... beans, salad every day, fruit, even benefiber in my morning crystal light. The only exception is when im camping or the only toilet around is a public one, shy bowels.
Im trying to clean up alittle before we leave... the dog (the one we just got and had to give back to the pound because my ds is allergic to dogs) left her mark everywhere! its been 2 weeks and I am still finding fur and new places she had pee'd and pooped... another blessing in disguise
I pulled back the area rug in the front room to clean underneath, 7 PEE STAINS! that little pisser! she was peeing everywhere but outside, no wonder... i couldnt figure out how she could hold it so long, man, I am glad shes off to another loving home now! ew, yuck, all over the house! the kids room, the basement, the bathroom, our room, next to her food dish, Im talking everywhere but outside! And we took her out constantly! I would take her for an hour walk with nothing and the second we wallk in the door, there she goes. And several times in her crate... oh, PTL thats done with, so another blessing in disguise for allergies! (sorry about the rant)
missy out
Hello....I'm new to MF and will be getting my 4 weeks (plus 1 week free) on Monday via UPS. I'm excited! I know how to eat right + exercise and lose weight, I just have a hard time obsessing over food when I have to count everything. I want to try to just think about eating and preparing one meal a day that's healthy, and the rest is done for me.
ok.....so I am totally sold on this bowel cleansing thing. I think I am going to order the stuff now. and benefiber it is!! Thank you so much for talking about this not-so-nice topic.
missy...We have a border collie that is 8 years old. I have had her since she was 2 months and she used to be my only baby. Since I have had the boys she is super jealous and wants nothing to do with them. Though she was house trained for years, when I was pregnant (both times) she started going in the house constantly. I wanted to ring her neck!!! WE are fostering a puppy now and my ds is very attached. Her owner asked if we wanted to adopt her. I want to say no, but my son is in love with her. We'll probably end up keeping her!! more mess to clean!
On an upsetting note, we had an unexpected financial emergency and I had to suspend my medifast shipment. I am way bummed!!! I still have 1.5 weeks left and my friend does this Mars Venus diet so she gave me a weeks supply of shakes from that. they are 180 calories apiece rather than 100 so I think I'll be doing a 4oz shake (half) more frequently than the 2x a day that they recommend. I hope I can make it work for a few weeks until I start my medifast shipment again. I am so afraid to start binging!!!
I am down 22lbs now and feel great! again, thanks for all the advice on the you-know-what prob.
Welcome Exona! I LOVE getting a new box of food! Oh, I love that excitement of starting and changing your life! Yeehoo!
Speaking of new shipment, Romans, I do Wonderslim, its a less expensive Medifast (same exact ingrediants) I pay $215.00 (after a 10% coupon) w/free shipping for 4 weeks and $405.00 for my 8 week program(after same coupon and free shipping). just google the name, they only have one website. I found out about the program here in June in the MF chat room, saved me alot of money.
So Ive been stuck at 199 for a while now, its ok still... Ive noticed that my new clothes are even fitting loose, so Im loosing inches! Maybe the firm is adding mucsle pounds!? I compared my mesurments from 1year ago, actually, 1 year Sept 3rd (my birthday) and I have lost an astounding 15 inches! 2" from my chest, 5" from my waist, 5 inches from my hips, 1.5 from upper arms, and 2.5 from my thighs! SWEET!!!!!!
This is all since june, I would imagine, I couldnt fit into my cool pants in december, not until a couple weeks ago. So, if the numbers arent moving, Ive got other happiness
Today i'm packing for the beach! 4 nights at South beach Oregon, just south of Newport, (beautiful, wish i lived there Newport) A yurt ON THE OCEAN!!!!!! And hopefuly I'll make it to the family picnic for my 20th reunion! Didnt go to the bar nights... 1st night was at a sports bar, Not crazy about sports or beer, the second night was just too expensive for us right now, what with vacation 2days away and just buying a new car. $65 for just getting in the door! Then you gotta pay extra for drinks! So, I cant drink OP and its a buffet of fried finger foods... Plus, its at a bowling alley... uh, whatever. The family picnic looks promising, I DO have two small boys who would enjoy all the fun activities. I only weigh 20 more than I did when I graduated. I wear it much better now. I actually look way better nowdays. I was a real artsy, newwaver. Now, Im pretty bland by those standards (although my knitting group and my bible study group think Im soooooo alternative! lol) We'll see how it goes. Wish me lucK!
Be good and think thin thoughts! XOXO Missy
I went to my 20th high school reunion's family picnic day today. It rained the whole time at the park, typical washington weather, never can depend on a sunny august day! I got to see some old friends, it was a blast. A few people gasped, (literally) when i didnt recognize the homecoming king... lol. Time goes by eh?
We are frantically packing for this trip, spent too much time goofing around today. AND I forgot that i have to bring along my little son's birthday presents... aye chee wawa!
So have a great week ladies, Im off to the beach! XOXO missy
Ok, the last several days have been filled with stuff I should not be eating. My DS and my father in law and bro in law all have b-days within 3 days of each other so we had a weekend of parties. Friday we took my ds and some friends out to a funpark for laser tag, go karts, etc... and then we had dinner and ice cream. Sat was the family get together, the grilled chicken was not too bad for me but I also had 2 baby ribs and "party" potatoes and cake. Then yesterday was my ds actual b-day so I took cupcakes to his class, I ate one too, and then we went out for dinner where I had a small steak a salad and baked potatoe.
I did watch what I ate for breakfast and lunch since I knew I was having dinner out the last few days but I still went way over my calories. But I must say the food was delicious I am back OP tomorrow and if we can get the painting finished tomorrow then I can get my living room back and start my Firm cardio dance tape.
I started the MF plan on Wednesday. So far so good. I am down 3 lbs so far. I know it is water, but it still feels great to get that scale moving in the right direction! I will try to post pretty regularly. It is great to find such a supportive group! YAY for 3FC and the MF board.
Edit: Can someone PM me about how to get a ticker? Thanks!
Good luck on the plan! It never bothered me to lose water weight! Medifast is great for giving you that initial kick to get the scale moving. Any questions, just ask. oh, you have to post 30 times before you can get a ticker.
Welcome Lacy! Hope you are enjoying Medifast as much as I am! Romans is right about the ticker...and...I think the posts have to be within 20 days.
I had another normal Medifast week. That now means that another 3 pounds are gone forever! I even went out to eat twice this week! I'm getting pretty good at ordering things that keep me on plan!
I usually eat my L&G for dinner. But I went out to lunch this week. So I ordered salmon, broccoli and mushrooms. That filled me up for the afternoon and pushed my MF meals to last all evening like I had hoped...but...I was never satisfied that evening. I just wanted to eat something...anything before I went to bed! I guess I better stick to L&G for dinner as much as possible!
On the upside! I get asked about my weight almost every day! Everyone is noticing the change finally!!!! I makes me feel so good and does wonders for my motivation!!!!
