  • LOL, your dd cracks me up Djay... She sounds like my cousin, a 25 year old "anyone but me" generationer. (Thats just what I call 'em) As long as anyone but her pays for an oil change, she'll get em. As long as someone else pays for insurance, she'll get full coverage... etc. I asked her if she wanted to come to disneyland with our family last feburary, she said she didnt know, she would ask her dad! (He ended up paying for all of it, including 2 plane tickets! She cashed in the round trip when she got down to CA then needed an additional one to get home when I said I would'nt drive her home) She bought "suvoniours" for all her friends (booze) after her dad deposited another $200. into her account. He also paid for her disney ticket, $180.00. Jeesh!
Im so sorry... (I know, I'll be there someday) How old is she? And, yes, you did a great job with a car and College! AND she talks to you!

So, we ended up going to Red Robin, I got the cobb salad, very good!
Also, We Got A New Car Today!!!!!!!
Well, not new new... its a 2002. Its beautiful! We spent a little more than we anticipated, but we'll just have to budget for it. AND they had to fix the brakes on it before we could drive it off the lot, so (because I mentioned its my anniversary) they gave us a brand new 2009 loaner. It is so sweet!
Well Im off to spend the rest of our anniversary, (child-free)
Be so good to yourselves and the ones you love! Missy
  • miri.....you can do this! when I completely cheated last week I didn't want to get on the scale, but I reminded myself of accountability. DO the crime....now do the time. GEt on the scale! Most of the time it isn't as bad as we think it will be!

Missy....I hope you enjoyed the anniversary. Congrats on the new car. I have been praying for a minivan for awhile now. I think we'll be getting one pretty soon hopefully. Lucky you had an honest mechanic. I am so skeptical of mechanics. I always feel like i'm being lied to.

djay....You did far more for your child than I got that's for sure! Sometimes they just have to learn the hard way. take the bus! How's the weight loss coming?

I am down another 2.5 pounds! I feel so different and no one other than my DH has noticed yet! It just shows us that people think about us far less than they think about themselves! I guess that's a good thing sometimes! Keep up the good work all!!!
  • UGH!!! I am off on a week long trip with my mother today and my kids have all of the sudden come down with these mysteriously "FAKE" illnesses. They are driving me nuts this morning!! They are going to school today wheather they want to or not.

I have stayed OP pretty good, we'll see what happens this week. At least with my mom we don't do fast food so I should be able to get a good salad on the road. I really need to find a scale an weigh myself, the kids broke mine.

Congrats on the new car missy. We just had to get my DH one in March because it was going to cost more to fix than what it was even worth.

Be good ladies and I will check in if I can, if not I will be back next Tues!
  • Well, I weighed myself and its pretty bad. I seem to be the poster child for "it doesn't work if you don't work it!" Sigh. I'm ready, I'm tired of being this weight, and I'm tired of being scared of losing it. I can do this!

The prayers are appreciated, I'm doing some of my own today too.

    Thanks for being here!
  • Miriam, you hang in there. Just try and make it work for today, and I promise you will feel so much happier in the morning!
  • Romans: The muffins aren't bad! I follow the recipe I found online - 5 packs oatmeal, 1 pack vanilla pudding, 1/4 tsp. baking soda, 2 tsp. baking powder, and water (recipe calls for DaVinci syrup - I don't use it.) The water is at least 8 ounces, add a little more to make it a thick muffin batter consistency. You'd have to judge for yourself. It's thick, but not quite as thick as cookie batter.

I put it by tablespoons into mini muffin cups - it makes 24 mini muffins or 12 regular sized ones. 4 mini muffins is a serving, or 2 regular. It says to bake for 18 minutes at 350, but I bake for about 22 minutes for minis (too wet at 18 minutes - maybe it's my oven.)

I pop them into a ziplock bag and carry them to work - they make a great mid-morning meal and it's something to CHEW! I love them. I've mixed all the oatmeal flavors together, made some of them all the same flavor - doesn't matter. They taste pretty much the same. Actually, the peach is pretty good - the peaches are moist like real fruit when they're baked.

Congrats on the 15-lb loss!! That's fabulous!!!
  • Miriam, your right, you CAN do this! Our fat doesnt care if we are happy or miserable, let it go. Hugs, girly, I know you can overcome this! Keep chatt'n with us and let us know how its going. We'll be here for you all the way!
  • Miriam, Of course you can do it! One day at a time. Starting every day!

Missy, Congrats on the new car. I don't think I have ever stepped foot on a car lot when I didn't spend more than I anticipated! You are not alone there! Just think of it as doing your part to keep the economy afloat!

Romans...you are getting to the point where your DH will notice very soon...even though he is a man! Bet that will be one hot night!

Well...the DD talked her dad into co-signing on a car loan because she was sure she needed a brand new car! The note is way more than she should be paying at 20 years old and still in college! But maybe it will motivate her to keep her career moving forward! So all it ends up costing me is my privacy! She will have to move back home when her lease is up in Oct. so that she can afford her car payments. I don't really mind that...All-in-All...She's a pretty good kid and stays on the go with a full time job, college and a boyfriend. It will actually be nice having her here. I have missed her for the past year.

Still staying OP and working out every day even though the scale is barely budging. This stubborn bod has to give up the pounds at some point! I got my second month's shipment in today...so I am committed to at least another 6 weeks to finish all the food that I have on hand!

    Have an On Plan Day!

    D
  • Miriam...congratulations for confronting the scale. That is always a major battle for me too. It is almost like if I don't see it then it can't possible be true! You're one step closer to beating this!

nurse...I made the muffins today. not too bad. not great, but doable. I got the oatmeal free so I might as well use it. I don't like the syrup so I'll try all water next time.

    hang in there all!
  • Good morning all! Thanks for your words, they all helped. I wasn't perfect yesterday, but much better than any of the previous days in that I didn't eat off plan during the day. In the evening I blew it but I'm still down from yesterday (a pound and a half) which is obviously water, but hey, it's gone!

I've got my plan for today and I'm getting ready for work... have a good day, my friends!!

  • Hey Mir, great to see the confidence boost in your post! Keep on truck'n girl.

Djay, your family sounds like fun! LOL

    * Ahem * May I make a small announcement...

I hit 199.6 this morning! I made it to Onederland!

thank you, thank you. I could not have done it without you beautiful sweeties! You have made such a difference! I have not seen a 1 in that position for at least 2 years! Now, my next goal is 179.5. Thats what I weighed when I graduated from high school, 20 years ago! (and I thought I was fat then)

Yesterday was nuts, we had 11 kids at our house for a "playdate". I'm a childrens teacher at our bible study, (we have 65 kids we shepard every thursday) But on tuesday when the leaders do our study, our kids are watched by a pair of paid babysitters for 3 hours. So I got the crazy idea to get all the kids together before bible study to get to know each other and not be so shocked come september. Oh, boy! Not a kid over 7!
Anyone else do anything for National Night Out? We went to a city block party, got some cotten candy, and snowcones (the kids) heard some great music, got to bounce in a bouncy house and the boys got free caracatures! FUN!
Well, temps up to the 90's here so we are off to a free kids movie to cool off then to a friends house with a pool! Be happy today, its the only 8-6-2008 you'll ever get!
    With love, Missy

  • CONGRATULATIONS Missy!!!!!!!!! I can't wait to join you in Onederland! Is it as beautiful as I remember!.... Ya know...I didn't even know it was national night out. My old neighborhood wasn't so stuffy and people planned activities and bands and food! Lots of fun back in the day!

Miriam, I am so happy for you! I just knew you could do it! And if you are like me...success makes you want more success as much as failure breeds more failure. So Let's stay on the success side!

I am hoping for a good weekly weigh in tomorrow...my scale actually dipped below 220 this morning! I am afraid to believe it though since I have been disappointed the next day when I pop right back up before. I am hoping it is for real this time!!! I have been work so hard on this. I am even working out every day! And for lazy ole me! That is saying alot!

We went to a program in the park they have every year for Nat'l night out. Local EMS, Police, K-9, dive team demos; bike rodeo with LOTS of prizes for the kids; lots of take-homes (e.g. pens, pencils, magnets and my favorite: a nice new pedometer. Works great, and I don't care if it has an insurance logo on it!)

Then tonight, my food finally arrived...so I start tomorrow! I am so nervous and excited. Tonight I will package my packets and plan my lean and greens and write my list of 10 reasons I want to lose weight and post it. Then tomorrow is my new beginning! Wish me luck!

congrats to Missy!!! In addition to onederland I see you are at about the 20 lb mark. Big accomplishment! Have you felt a difference in your clothes yet? Your house must have been a circus! I teach sunday school to the 3yr olds. I find myself praying over the children to not hurt each other half the time!

Miri....get right back on that wagon girlfriend!!!

djay...can't wait to hear about the weigh-in. you have been so faithful!

    rnmom...good luck getting started.

well, today I was unbelieveably hungry. don't know exactly why but my stomach was actually burning with hunger! I just sucked it up. Someone said..."nothing tastes as good as skinny feels." I just kept repeating it all day. I seem to be ok now. Both of my little ones are sick. the baby was on an antibiotic for the first time and guess what???? He was allergic to it! A disgusting rash EVERYWHERE! poor baby. well, that's my life these days......and what a blessing it is!

  • I never want to see those EVIL 220's again!!!!!! I thought I would never get below 220! My scale was blocked...But I made it! And it can't be a fluke because this is the second day it has read the same weight. I believe it today!

Missy---Make room for me in Onderland. I'm on my way!

Thanks to all of you. I don't know if I could have stayed OP during that 3 week plateau without your support and encouragement!
