Glad to hear that DH is doing OK, Terri. It is dificult to nurse DH, I know that mine is a PIA during those times. I think that we will have to give the duct tape to Pat she has been doing the best so far I had fresh corn on the cob. it sure was delicious.

Hey lets al make a deal we will all be teriffic for the next week. this way we can hand the duck tape back to 25 unused!!!!!

Well I had my sweet corn and will be happy for the next few weeks now.

My problem is that i did not take my chromium today so i was sufffering from cravings!!! as well as the carb monster is still with me, in a few days i will be right back to new!!!

Have a great day for monday!!!!

Good Morning!

Sue - Welcome back!! Glad you had a nice vacation.

25 - Hope you have a great vacation. I agree with Sue - if you fall off the wagon, don't beat yourself up about it & don't do like I did when I was on vacation. I was an angel the whole vacation, & by the time I got home I felt so deprived that it turned into a week long binge. Congrats on your 3 lb loss. I lost 3 lbs this week too after .5 lb last week & 1.5 lb the week before, so I can relate to the pattern you're experiencing. I also lost 1" (1/2" each bust & waist). This brings my total weight loss to 161 lbs since June 10, 2000. I didn't cheat for the whole first year, but unfortunately spent much of June & early July binging. As of July 9 I'm back on track with no cheats. I exercise every day, sometimes twice, (aerobics/toning videos, Curves for Women) & drink a ton of water. I average 14 carbs & 1500 calories a day (Low I know. I've actually added some veggies to get my carbs up, but I'm just not hungry). I also don't ingulge in "legal treats" - Atkins bars, nuts, etc. because once I start I can't stop (especially nuts!) I do have sugar free jello once or twice a week, & a cup of decaff coffe w/Sweet & Low and cream everyday. I have 21 lbs to go to reach my goal, but want to lose 31 lbs to give myself 10 lbs to play with. I'm far from an expert since I really never left induction, but let me know if I can help in any way.

Kirei - Welcome! You have really come to the right place for support & advice. As a fellow chocoholic, I suggest L-glutamine for cravings. I would literally be in tears I craved chocolate so badly, but started taking L-glut a week ago (1000 mg before each meal) & have not had a craving since. I promised myself some chocolate when I get down to 142.5 lbs (10 lbs less than my vacation weight; 4.5 lbs to go), but at this moment I don't want it. Notice I said at this moment.

Terri - Glad DH is feeling better.

Have a great day!!

Good evening all!!!

Been totally OP today. I am trying to be more mindful Of the carb intake. I find that I am eating OK foods but shouldn't eat them all in one day. This carb addiction is a sneaky thing. Well anyway, I can feel taht I am more mentally alert so I must be on track.

JHP- so close to your goal!!! That is wonderful

Sue How was your day?

Terri I am glad DH is doing alright.

To all teh newbies there is a thread about menus atht you might want to check out. It helped me critique my menu.

See you tommorrow

Hi all I am doing just fine OP all day, with no close calls. i did drool over a bagel, and pb cookie but i did not crave it they just looked good and smelled good, but no gut wrenching cravings. I even had my face over a huge bowl of corn on the cob and not a twinge!!! I love my chromium

jen L- Glutamine is it for all cravings or just for the sweet tooth kind or chocolate. I have heard of it but i seem to do fine with my chromium. Jen is there a reason you do not take in more carbs??? I bounce up and down all the time. usually about 20 - 30 daily though when i am good.

Pat great job for the day!!!! keep it up fopr another!

kieri how are you doing??? check in

Terri how are you doing????

Just wanted to tell everyone that L-Glutamine is an AWESOME supplement to take! It is the best one ever, for so many reasons... It totally boosts your immune system! Very awesome since it is much easier to stay on track when you are not sick! It prevents muscle aches and pains assocoated to aerobic or resistance training. No more sore muscles! AND... it is soooo cheap. 1 tub will last you forever! Now, I had never heard of the craving calming effects... but hey, sounds good to me.
On a personal note, I decided to delay my start day for Wednesday (tomorrow for me). I tried to do it Monday, but all I had to eat was eggs. No meat, no nothing. Bad planning on my part. So my husband and kids are going to the grocery store with me to stock up on some protein sources. After all those eggs on Monday... I am not sure I could eat another egg again! HAHA!
One clarification question I have for all of you... It wasn't quite clear to me in the book, but can we eat salads during the induction? I thought it said only protein sources during the first 2 weeks. Hmmmm. Thanks alot!
Well, so glad I found this place. I will need the advice and expertise of all of you. I still feel SO weird eating things so high in fat! I find myself planning low fat carb free healthy meals! Like baked chicken and salad. Hmmmm.

Christy I do Protien Power shich is similar to atkins but It is not as strict in the begining about 30 carbs during the intervention stages, If i remember correctly you take in about 20 carbs during the induction, which may include salad but you do subtract the fiber from the carb count for your total ecc. efective carb count. so aslong as you stay below 20 ibelieve it is ok. just watch the number and quality of carbs you take. make them good carbs. (not the sugar kind) veges are really good carbs as they have lots of fiber so you can eat more of them.
I will have to try the l-glutamine!!!

if you are hungry eat some thing higher in fat that will help rid the cravings. good luck

Hello!

Just wanted to say hi before I leave the office because once I rarely have time to log on once I'm home. Especially since I just found out my MIL is coming to town for her high school reunion & is planning to spend Thursday & Friday nights with us. Not a problem, except my cleaning lady doesn't come until Saturday

Sue - My carbs are so low because the only legal veggies I can stomach are lettuce & celery & they fill me up so I don't eat as much. My other carbs I get from eggs & salad dressing.

Christy - I was also trying to do low fat/low carb because I just knew all that fat would make me gain weight. At first I ate chicken only & fat free salad dressing while DH ate steak & salads with regular dressing, bacon bits, eggs. I finally got smart & am so much happier. You'll get used to it very quickly!

Hi Pat & Terri. Gotta run!

Jennifer

HI all,
Just a quick Note-

Still OP
And am really paying attention to what goes in my mouth. Am trying to change my thinking that this is the way I eat now, not something tempory. Like carbs are something aI am allergic too. I have food alleriges so this is something I can relate. Also when I crave( which have been mostly mental) I remind myself of the time I spend exercising. so far so good. I have been really stressed at work with no end in sight so I have been really tested.

Sue, keri ,JHP, Jen Have a great day I will be more wordy later.

Pat
PS I am reaaly getting alot out of posting the daily menus, it helps put things into perspective

Good Morning!

Terri - Hope you survived the picnic. Sounds like there was going to be lots of low carb goodies, but I know it's those side dishes that really kick your butt! My very first cheat on this woe was triggered by feeling deprived at DH'S company picnic.

Pat - I can also relate to stress at work & consider it a personal victory when I do not comfort myself after a hard day with chocolate, fast food, chips, ice cream etc. I'm finding that exercise is helping me as well. It's an instant attitude adjuster.

For those of you who need help keeping up with your carbs, try fitday.com. It's a really good tool that will keep track of everything for you and it's free. If I eat something that has a label with nutritional information I go ahead and enter it under custom foods since things like salad dressing can differ from brand to brand. You can also keep track of your exercise & how far you have to your goal weight & how much you need to lose each week to get there. I've found it really helpful & I think Sue uses it as well.

Have a great day!!

Jennifer

Hi gals glad to see everythigs is still on an even keel. I am so tired i could not even eat good tonight. i have some work to do before i go to bed so i will be short on this.

i did fine for carbs today low on the protein though. took plenty of water and still trying to rid the fluid overload from the last week.

I use fitday but on occasion, it does help alot. some times when it is really busy i have problems getting it to bring up the foods and stuff. but otherwise it sure does help. Jen i agree you are you are my inspiration.

Terri have you started the t-tap yet? how is it?

hey keiri how are you doing??? and wolf angel are you still with us??? how about the DB???

Pat when you put something in your mouth thjink about it before you eat it, that does help but only if you are not starving when you do it (you do not care at that time) I think that you are doing great. keep up the good work.

Default OH MY! I was going CRAZY yesterday!

Our Computer got infected with 7, YES 7, viruses. I was not even able to get my computer to run Windows! My husband fixed it this morning. 4 of the 28 infected files were unrepairable, and stuck in Quarantine. This is going to be annoying trying to figure out how to get them out of Quarantine! AHHHH!
Yesterday was my first day on the program, and it went off without a hitch! Yummy! Yesterday when I weighed myself in the morning, I was 190.5 pounds. After I ate my breakfast this morning, I couldn't help myself.... and I weighed in at 188.5 (even after breakfast). Yeah me! This morning, my sweet husband made me breakfast... eggs, bacon, & sausage.
Now, a few questions for you all....
1) Is soy sauce authorized?
2) In the "Induction Rules" it says that diet soda in limited quantities is allowed.... is it okay to have 1 diet soda a day?
3) Ummm. Okay, I gues I only had 2 questions.

You know what I just thought of?.... A seven layer salad that a friend of mine always makes. It is delicious, and I can't think of anything in it that would be unauthorized! Hmmmm. I'll have to look into that. That just might become a staple! Hehe.

The seven layer salad--- watch the peas, they are high carbs but you can avoid that. the usual is to add sugar to the mayo when you let it set but that is so little that it should not do much.

diet soda go for it but i will say to not take too much as the fake sugar may cause cravings, and stimulate an insulin responce. and if it cafinated that may dehydrate your cells. but for now as you are changing your life go for it. it willhelp and then later you can remove it.

great job on your weight loss, do not peek to much and you will go up and down. that is mee talking who gets on 4-5 times daily!!!

I do use soy sauce. on my meat, you may want to watch the water weight when you use it as it is full of sodium and may make you retain.

I had a great day and did fine wioth my exercsies, and diet. no need for duct tape today!!!
