Jessica, no one deserves to burn their tongue. I'm sorry. Hope it's better!

Jessica ... oooh - sorry about the burned tongue!

Michele, I wish you a speedy return to balance and health. It sounds like you're getting a lifetime's share of misery.

I've "deflated" back to my ticker weight. Yesterday came in at 1245 cal, lower than I shoot for, plus I ended up standing in a cold wind for 4 hours at DS11's track meet. Good grief ... something that takes longer and is more boring than a swim meet - I never imagined such a thing! Plan is solid for today and includes plenty of walking.

Track, haha!! Yeah, been there, done that!!! Cross country is lots more fun. Of course I am currently enchanted by volleyball. At least it is out of the elements, although tournaments can go on and on.

But yeah, I've turned into a popsicle at a few track meets myself over the years. How'd your son do?

Hey guys, how's it going? My burned tongue is completely better, thanks. I did learn my lesson to not try to sneak hot cocoa though. Luckily tongues heal fast.

I'm holding steady around 134. Been coming in between 1400-1600 pretty much every weekday. I didn't track this weekend though and I'm sure I came in pretty high. SIL made such a tasty cake for mother's day that I ended up eating three slices. That and I helped her cooking the chicken for the meal, which was a martha stewart recipe that involved half a stick of butter.

Counting calories is way easier with DH cooking separately from me. I'm cooking less frequently, and after I portion out my dinner I immediately pack up the rest into individual servings, which I eat for lunch and dinner the rest of the week. At the moment in the fridge I have three individual servings of one dish and one serving of another left. Will be cooking tonight so that I have some variety the next few days.

Back to the endo on Thursday for me. Not sure if he'll want more bloodwork, but I'm going to ask him 1) to explain my labs to me and 2) to consider modifying my meds to bring my FT3 up to the middle of the range instead of the bottom. I figure the middle of the range is still normal so it shouldn't be bad to be there, and the worst that would happen is that it doesn't help and we go back to looking for what else is wrong. I started having some more hypo symptoms the past week though so I'm really suspecting my thyroid is involved somehow.

Hi, all! First week of new job - having fun, but really, really stressed, anxious, sleepless, and tired. Tomorrow, I'll be on my feet the entire day - on the line, building sunroofs! I have NEVER spent a whole day on a production line.

midwife - my kid was so bummed about being dead last (in a big field) in his 800m that he was completely blind to being the only one in his school to make it to the third round of the high jump. It's not his fault - he inherited my "low-gear" running style, and probably doesn't have a fast-twitch muscle in his entire body. So ... I told him that if we were the only two slow people in the world, we'd have to run together, and we would do it for the purpose of getting fit and having time to talk. Tonight we dropped $200 on two pairs of good running shoes, and we'll start C25K next week when track practice ends.

Jessica, I'm holding steady too. :P I hope you figure out the thryoid puzzle - they are terrible, fickle little glands and the numbers just do not tell the story sometimes. I'm fortunate to have a doctor who's willing to chuck the lab results and experiment (on my dime, not the insurance's).

Still alive. Still haven't broken under 131. Feeling sane for now. My only big news is that I seem to have "fixed" my erratic pooping for the time being, and this makes me irrationally excited.

Sorry about the 800, Becky. You never know, though, my DD was so slow she got lost the first day of cross country practice (the coach had to send out upperclassmen to find her) and now she runs for her college team. He might grow into it a little more. The 800 is a tough distance---too long to be a sprint and not long enough to rely on some endurance to leave those less prepared in the dust.

Well it's not good for me to stay away from this site, and not log my food. Not that I didn't know that, just got a bit lazy. Perfect excuse to eat over 1800 cal/day for a week. Sure enough, I've gained 2 pounds. I'm forcing myself to acknowledge the gain by moving my ticker. Also started logging my food again yesterday. All part of keeping myself accountable.

Krampus, how did you solve your issue?

ICU, you changed jobs to an automotive plant? In Michigan? How on earth did you find that? That's spectacular!

I'm working on my current major stumbling block to continued weight loss, which is eating after dinner. At our house, dinner is always followed by fruit, and then the kids usually have dessert while I drink decaf. This process can last over an hour even if I don't do the cooking (dinner-fruit-coffee) and then another 1/2 hour to clean up. I seem to move far too easily into after-dinner nosh mode, eating the kids' leftovers, and/or snacking as I spot things in the pantry/fridge. I'm not sure why I do this AFTER eating dinner, when I'm typically quite full. It was never a habit I had up until the evening binges started. Now recently, instead of binging, I was just eating steadily from dinner until bedtime. Sooo, I've asked DH to do the after-dinner clean-up for a few weeks, and I'm trying to move directly from dinner to supervising homework and other non-kitchen chores. 2 days is way too soon to judge success, but at least I've broken the cycle.

Weight is down to 130.3, I'm wearing my "skinny" pants that were too tight for the past month or two, and my hunger and eating feels completely under control. I've already "gone" twice and it's not even noon yet. How does this work?! I won't complain. I also won't use the weekend as an excuse to break my "no junk, no booze" streak.

neurodoc, I don't know! I haven't changed my eating that much and if anything I am exercising less. Carbs are being kept rather low and junk food has been eradicated, protein up a bit, and maybe a few more veggies than normal. Calories have been steady at 1500 (give or take a hundred) for 5 days.

I think getting lazy for a little while is just part of this whole process. I almost don't trust people who never veer off plan. It sounds like you know exactly what you need to do and the means to do it. I think breaking cycles is the hardest part.

neurodoc~I'd say the reason you eat after dinner is because you're still in the kitchen. I do the same thing when I get home from work (well, I did). It's because I'm in the kitchen getting everything ready to cook dinner and I pop things in my mouth. I don't know what to suggest to get you out of the kitchen unless you can get someone else to do the clean up.

I'm down 3.5 pounds. I still have quite a few to go to get back to goal, but at least this is working!

I posted in the chat thread, not sure who all is there versus here. My endocrinologist agree to try playing with my thyroid med dosage, so we're increasing my Cytomel from 1x/day to 2x/day and adding a vitamin D supplement to the multivitamin. Hopefully this will help. If it doesn't make a difference he suggested I see another rheumatologist for a second opinion.

Krampus and Allison, sounds like you're doing great!

Neuro, can you make a rule that you will not eat your kids' leftovers?

Still holding at 134-135 here. TOM coming up so I am ravenous this week.

Hi chicks,
I'm at my college reunion, sitting in the coffee /cafe area of our hotel while my girlfriends are still sleeping. Want them to wake UP so we can get going. Haven't been to campus yet and I'm looking forward to a walk thru. Coming here has been a source of great stress and now I'm here and it is so far so good.

Jess I like that idea. Sounds like you are in very good touch with your body. That should help.
Kramp sometimes if I don't go for a day or two I'm aware of it but then I link that to my hormones and as the hormone surge goes does (both mid and end cycle) I get tons of catch up poop. And of course more and more fruits and veg are a very good thang.
Becky new job, awesome. Go girl!
Neuro, that is my time also except it lasts all evening. I have recently stopped watching tv downstairs. And gone straight upstairs to my bedroom with tea.
Allison glad to hear you're feeling good. Send me some of those loss vibes. I'm still dealing with an extra 6-10 pounds depending on the day/chosen ideal weight...
Ok girls, until later. Be chill

I'm on vacation with DH, celebrating our anniversary. The diet went out the window yesterday on arrival here because they brought us a bottle of champagne and a chocolate mousse cake with berries. Last night was lots of wine and a decadent shrimp quesadilla. DH had sliders. Bar food--not diet worthy, but heck, we're celebrating! We'll be back on plan Sunday.

Woke up this morning and the scale said 122.4. Was happy. Went to the gym for weight training/yoga. Looked at my thighs wearing black yoga pants while lifting. Would clearly need to weigh less than 120 to lose outer/inner saddle bags. Got depressed.

Happy Anniversary Alinnell. Happy college reunion Kittycat. Congrats on getting back to skinny jeans Krampus.

neuro - right now, automotive is recovering, and hiring on the white-collar side is brisk. Lots of people jumping jobs right now. Problem on the labor side for the suppliers, though, is that most experienced, dependable labor
moved out of state! So the workforce on the floor is made up of folks who aren't used to the production environment, and it can be a rather rude awakening. It doesn't pay as well as it used to, so that major motivator is gone. Re the saddlebags - you come across as a very, very intelligent, over-achieving perfectionist, and in your posts you are SO brutally hard on yourself it can be painful to read at times. Is there any way you can cut yourself a bit of slack and celebrate your strength, flexibility, beauty, brains, and work ethic instead? Ranting is one thing ... but I'm getting the impression that these last couple of pounds are really sucking the joy out of your life. I hope that's not the case! You bring a lot to this forum and I'm so glad you're here!

Allison - happy anniversary! Enjoy your togetherness.

kitty - sending loss vibes! Reunions - phew.

krampus - agree totally about the breaking cycles! Methinks there is a natural rhythm to these things just like nature, the economy, yaddayadda ... and when it's time to change, the signs present themselves. Congrats on the skinny pants!

Saw some pictures of myself from the St. John trip and realized that I look pretty decent WHEN I STAND UP STRAIGHT!!!! Slouching gives me a belly pooch and makes my very small chest appear saggy, and makes my arms look big and flabby instead of just big. I was surprised at how many pictures showed me hunched forward. Gotta work on that! I'll have to post a couple so you can see the huge difference.
