startingovernow 08-08-2006 08:10 PM

Walked around the neighborhood for 35 minutes, worked up a nice sweat and it's 75 degrees. My DF seems to think you have to work up a sweat to burn any calories.

My morning excersice routine consist of an hour and a half of cardio and about 20 mints of weights but light ones to loss the weight, at night i have a kickboxing class 3 days a week for one hour. So far this is going really well hope i keep it up. Good luck to all.

power90--strength/sculpt 2

Joni135 08-11-2006 09:16 PM

Week 1/Day 3 of Couch to 5K - 28 minute walk/jog - total about 2.3 miles. Doing Make A Wish 5K on October 14, 2006 in Marietta, GA. All signed up. Plan to run the entire race.

Lea Ann - is power90 a 90 minute program?

Lamis - I do love the gym too, but haven't been getting up and doing my early morning return like I should. When I do work, I'm changing up my return and working out less time, but at a much higher intensity. I prefer to spend the extra time doing stretches...ahhhhh.....stretching is great.

Lamis 08-12-2006 08:37 AM

Hello
I agree LottaMe2MiniMe stretching feels really good, looks like you are doing great with excersice keep up the good work.
yesterday's morning routine consisted of 80 mints cardio 20 mints of weights at night 1 hour kickboxing. I am taking today off no gym but ofcourse cant take a day off of house work that alone is a hard excersice lol.
Good Luck ladies..

Candiflip 08-13-2006 06:05 PM

I do the Crunch Pilates DVD's with Ellen 2-4 times a week. I did the Burn & firm one 3 times this week and the Pick your spot, only abs, last night.
and usually walk on fridays but did not do it this friday becuase dh was too busy to take me.

Joni135 08-14-2006 09:22 PM

Week 2, Day 1 of Couch to 5K - 27 minute walk/jog - total about 2.1 miles. 23 training sessions to go. Also did some lower body weight stuff. and sit ups.

Boo'sMom 08-15-2006 08:09 AM

Joni--NO--90 minutes would kill me!! You must've been thinking I was pretty amazing--lol. No, it's 90 days--alternating cardio/abs with strength/sculpt workouts. I am now on the 2nd (last phase)--just more reps and weights and time than phase 1. I haven't been posting it this week but I am happy to say I have not missed a day (you get a free one and mine is Sunday) so you go on 6 off 1--which is great! Tomorrow is day 30!! A third of the way there. My scale went up a little more when I went up a phase but my body is a lot harder so I'm okay with it. I'm starting to believe that 160 is a very natural weight for me. Good luck with your training!

Joni135 08-15-2006 08:43 AM

Lee Ann - I'm too lazy to search through the entire thread...what's the name of your DVD (assuming it's a DVD program)? This sounds a lot like how BFL (Body for Life) suggests folks train. I always thought it was the best way to train too.

As far as weight goes, I'm only 5'3" and while folks think a person my height should weight 115 lbs, I'm actually thin at 135 (thin means size 6). I'll be thrilled when I make it to goal of 145.

ChocLabLover 08-15-2006 09:19 AM

I will jump right in here:

Monday: 30 minute walk with my dog, 45 minutes Kickboxing

Boo'sMom 08-15-2006 09:47 PM

Joni--it's the Beachbody series called Power90--they have lots of DVD's--I have, and like, the Slim in 6 series, too--but the Power90 is GREAT!! You can check it out on Beachbody.com (I think).

I totally understand the weight/height/ ?norm? thing--there is NO NORM!!! We are all different. My center said 138 was my "optimal" weight--not true--been there and it wasn't great for me--too gaunt. I am only 5'6 and even though I don't have the "large frame" by most standards I am still large framed, broad backed, broad shoulders, etc. I would love love love to get to 150 but won't stress myself out over it. Glad to hear you feel the same. Really, only we can know what's best for us.

Joni135 08-16-2006 09:35 AM

Lea Ann - thanks for the info - I'll be doing some virtual shopping later today!
Week 2, Day 2 of Couch to 5K - 25 minute walk/jog - total about 1.8 miles. 22 training sessions to go. Also did some upper body weight stuff. and sit ups. Also did 15 minutes on the evil stair machine and an extra 20 minutes of light walking (I was reading a good article in a magazine). I took out my heart monitor and during the jogging part of my run, it registered around 160, which I believe is good for a 48 year old.

Lamis 08-17-2006 09:04 AM

Hello
Haven't checked in for a while i have been doing 2 hours each morning a combination of elliptical step machine and the bike with 20 mints weight and still doing the 1 hour of kickboxing 3 days a week. this morning i got up aching all over even though i believe i streched enough before and after my excersice routines yesterday, but i guess my body is telling me to give it a little rest so no gym today .

Joni135 08-17-2006 10:53 PM

Went to the gym and did a Body Works class - that women killed me. She was a lunge lover and my legs were sore during class; I can only image what they'll feel like tomorrow....but, this all goes to prove I need to vary my routine and try different things.

Joni135 08-20-2006 09:56 PM

Saturday - Week 2, Day 3 of Couch to 5K - 25 minute walk/jog - total about 1.8 miles. 21 training sessions to go.

Okay--I am going to start doing SOMETHING again--been too lazy for too long. Starting slow so no snickers from the peanut gallery!

10 min treadmill (3.5 plus 2 "bursts")
100 varied crunches

I loved the power90 program but the weight gain kinda freaked me out--now I still have the gain AND getting soft!!

Okay gals--don't leave me hanging out here--I KNOW a lot of you workout and I need the push.

tweeteach 10-22-2006 08:21 PM

I have committed to start working out 3 times a week starting tomorrow. I will be doing Turbo Jam at home. These cd's are from beach body to and I love them.

Boo'sMom 10-22-2006 08:25 PM

Twee--I am a beachbody fan, too. I have Power90 and Slim in 6 and like them both--just been to lazy to like them enough to do them!
