When you download the armband, do you have to have the software open on your screen? Any advice on the basics of how this works would be appreciated.

I can't seem to sync my armband with my display either.

So sorry for the newbie problems, but you know how it is when you get something new ... you want it to work NOW!!!
----------------------------------------------------------

I was doing this also....trying to open the program on my computer to open it....but then I just went to the website (www.gowearfit.com) and logged in and clicked on the "launch activity manager" and you log all your info and sync your device that way. (My computer found the program on my computer and utilizes it, I never touch the one I downloaded)
I don't open the program on my computer ever. I think that is just a driver or something that the site uses to sync with your computer....just a shot. :)

everything she said. and for the initial sync of your display with your armband.
it explains it in the manual. it worked fine, an easy step by step guide (on page 4).

for daily use, in case display and armand lost connection, you push the mode button on the display, and then the green button on your armband (while wearing it).

Thank you all for your help. There is still a problem with me getting on the website, even though I've registered, it tells me I haven't bought an armband yet and tells me my username is "null" LOL, so I can't upload anything I'll figure it out tomorrow. I just hope that the armband has been recording stuff all weekend or I'll feel like a fool.

With your help, I did get the display synched. It tells me I'm only burning .4 calories a minute while working on the computer or reading. That means while I'm sleeping it's probably lower? Arghghghghg!

I guess I'll wait until I upload everything to study it more. Just wanted to say thank you again. CJ

0.4 calories doesn't sound right. When you get the information downloaded to the website, compare it to the display. If it is way off, you might need to get a replacement...that is what I had to do with my first GWF.

Thank goodness you are right! GoWear Fit had to do some kind of software modification on their site to accept my data, so once that was done, it totally changed everything.

Thanks so much for helping me out. CJ

I'm glad that you figured out what was wrong! Have fun with your GWF!

After reading this thread, I decided to get the gowear fit device. It came on Tuesday and I love it so far! I am having problems with the web site though, it keeps shutting down Safari for some reason, it will do it 2-5 times in a row but it works sometimes. I am no where close to my fitness goal or the calorie goal - I am below both by 500-1000 calories.

I have been thinking about returning my GWF because the software is TERRIBLE, the food database is pathetic and it is all kinds of wrong where sleeping in concerned with me.

At first I was annoyed because of the 12-12 only graph for the sleeping. I sleep really odd hours and often for longer periods than most people. Then one day it says I was asleep and laying down when I was actually out running errands. I was being all action packed and it thought I was sleeping? That is really making me question how accurate this thing can be about anything.

I was having a lot of fun with it till all the issues happened with the sleep stuff. Now I am not sure if I can trust it at all.

Have you tried calling BodyMedia? I actually had to return TWO units because of issues, but am very happy with my GWF now and have been using it for months. I actually got mine before they changed the food journal so you could log daily, so I use the CalorieKing Nutrition and Exercise Manager.

Hi! This is my first post, but I have a few questions. I started on the old BodyBugg thread and then made my way over here. I didn't manage to read all 60 or so pages of posts, but I decided that I think I want to take the plunge.

But now I'm a little confused. I had chosen the SenseWear over the BodyBugg, but after reading some of this thread I'm seeing something called the GoWhere Fit. Did the SenseWear change names or is this comething different? I was going to buy my SenseWear from here: myminifly dot com but now I'm not sure.

So my questions are: what are my options now (Bugg, GWF, SW), and where is the best place to buy the different brands?

Thanks in advance, I hope to get one for my birthday in a few weeks so I need to know where to buy the damn thing!!!

nellonello 06-03-2009 01:55 PM

I will chime in. Body Media makes 3 devices; the BodyBugg, GoWhere Fit and SenseWear. Each of them are a bit different in the software they use. Go here for comparisions: www dot bodymedia dot com/prodtbl dot html

I went with the Sensewear as I felt it provided the most software options. I have had mine a month now and love it. I bought from myminifly and their customer service is incredible!!

Rebound 06-03-2009 04:50 PM

Okay, I was all set to buy the sensewear with display for $348.

But I saw the GWF on amazon for 180+80 for the display = $260.

I know the technology is the same, but is the SW worth $90 more? I've looked at screen shots, but are there any real differences between the two devices? I understand that GWF now allows you to enter your food every day -- that would have been a deal breaker for me.

Any real differences that make up that $90? Anything I should worry about ordering form Amazon instead of from somewhere like myminifly?

I ordered my GWF from amazon. Got it just a week ago and absolutely love it. Havent had problems with it yet, its everything I wanted and more, and it was a huge savings, since my husband was not keen on spending too much more. It provides a wealth of information on how my body works, the website is easy to use, even for adding my own recipes.

For those with the Bodybugg who haven't noticed the renewal price has been lowered. Mine was up next month so I renewed for a year it only comes to like 6 something a month. I've only been wearing mine again for the past week or so, but I'm enjoying using it again. It's help keeping me on track.

The GWF does allow you to enter your food every day.
