Here's my question... why the arm?? I read some of you saying to wear it your leg for stationary biking, but what about wearing on calf for normal activities??

The only reason I'm asking is my flabby arm looks terrible with this thing on and I don't seem to have to many short sleeve shorts with longer sleeves. This past week I've been sweating in long sleeves! Silly I know but it's the little things to keep my esteem up, ya know?

You can wear it on your calf all the time if you want. it is acurate enough but may be slightly off from the arm and a better choice for some for warmer weather wear. I find on my claf just find when wearing capri pants too. But I don't like it with sleveless and it does not read well on the thigh as I thought I might be able to wear it with shorts.

Babes315, those are cute shirts! I may have to ho shopping today.

L144s, it's good to know that I'm not the only one who thinks about wearing it on their leg. I'm going to try it out this week, when my sleeves are too short. Thanks!

What calorie deficit is everyone doing?

I'm trying to maintain a crazy deficit of 2500 a day :dizzy: I've been going strong for two weeks now, so we'll see :D

I am going for 1000 calorie deficit. I lost 2.4 lbs this week so that pretty much made my day!

suzie42 05-17-2009 06:45 PM

I figure as long as I'm at least 1000, I'm happy, but I've been hovering around 1350 or so.

Meeky how old are you and what are you doing to burn 2500 EXTRA calories a day? how many calories are you eating? How much exercise ar doing?

jajabee 05-17-2009 07:44 PM

I'm experimenting with wearing it on my calf today, is there anything I should look out for as far as accuracy goes? Does it capture running and walking well?

jajabee 05-18-2009 02:02 PM

Well, I wore it on my calf all day, which was nice since we were at a friend's BBQ, and it worked well for everything except a 2 mile walk we took. It measured the walk as a run, probably because it was getting harder "shocks" on my leg than on my arm. So if you do wear it on your calf, be careful about longer walks... you may need to cut the calories on those in half. It didn't seem to have the same problem for just walking around normally (like around the house), it was only when we set off for a longer sustained walk.

Also, it looks like they've added an awesome new feature to the "Edit Off-Body" screen, you can now tell it what activity you were doing while it was off your arm, and it'll estimate the calories and add it to your chart. Perfect for lap swimming!

I've had my GoWear fit for 1 week now...

I've had my GoWear fit for officially 1 week now...and :goodscale
I've lost 6.9 lbs.! :carrot:

Having the concrete information of calories in and calories out being so easy to keep track of, is making all the difference for me.

That's a neat feature.

I've been noticing something odd... My Step Chart tells me I take "steps" in the middle of night at the same times that my sleep chart says I'm sleeping. I first wondered if I was sleep walking but I pretty certain that's not the case. My husband says I toss and turn like crazy so I'm guessing the tossing and turning are being registered as steps. Is this OK?? Has anyone else noticed this? It's kind of curious.

hi you all,

2 questions i have:

i am very close to buying a bodybugg, but i wonder - for those of you who cook - how easy is it to enter your food? your own recipes?
i've been using sparkpeople so far.

also, do you think the wrist monitor is useful?

thanks you all!!! willow

jajabee 05-19-2009 12:20 PM

You know, I don't really like the food tracker part of it, it's a lot clunkier than what I'm used to using (TheDailyPlate). So what I do is take my GWF number at the end of the day, go over to TheDailyPlate's site, and enter it manually as my exercise for the day. That way it shows me my "net calories" right at the bottom of my food tracker page, so I can keep track of my deficit. Does Sparkpeople have a manual calorie burn entry system?

jajabee 05-19-2009 12:22 PM

And wow, congrats Suzie!! Nice work! :D

sawa1210 05-19-2009 01:59 PM

Congrats, Suzie! I'm jealous. I only lost 2!

I don't mind the calorie counter on the gowear fit software, you might have to enter your own food for a week or two but it saves your entries so you don't have to enter it again. Oh and I've used spark and fitday before.
