I received a response from BodyMedia. They say:

When riding a horse your caloric burn will be off between 5% to 10%. The step total will not affect the the caloric value.
So I guess that helps answer my question. I was hoping for something a little more verbose :)

I'll still investigate my caloric burn while riding before totally trusting it.

if you have the digital display you can do a reset prior to your ride

I have my deficit set to 3lbs a week right now and I haven't had an issue yet, although I only planned to have it that high for a a few more weeks. I will probably have to increase my calories a bit as I'm training and can't really cut back the calorie burn too much, but for now it doesn't seem to be harming my losses for the past month.

Anyone else having problems with GWF website this morning. I am getting an error when I try to launch the activity manager and I want to know if its just me.

I uploaded my data between 7:30 and 8 am central standard time and it worked fine for me!

:)

How is everybody doing?
I had a good loss even though I was sick (maybe the ol body needed the time off?).

Let's all Keep it Up even during the season of parties and bbq's and other situations of more causal eating : )

Good over here.

I was having trouble uploading but I changed my USB cord and no problems anymore. BodyBugg has been right on track for weight loss numbers several weeks in a row. I'm still ahead of the game because I dropped more the first week I started wearing it again, but I've lost about 20lbs since re-starting.

Hi everybody--I just got my GWF last week and I just weighed in at WW today down 3.6 lbs from last Wednesday! And that was even with a BBQ on Saturday and a family brunch at this awesome buffet place where I went a bit off plan.

I'm finding that I reach my caloric burn target without having to do any actual exercise but I want to at least exercise to get back my strength and stamina and to improve my cardio health. So...I've been having 2,000 calorie deficits the past couple of days and I'm not going to eat 1,000 extra calories because I had an active day, but I'm worried that my body will turn to starvation mode.

For the most part, I don't feel hungry. When I do feel hungry, I know it's mostly my emotional eating habit playing games with my head because I have begun to journal my triggers and explore them as they arise.

I lost 12 lbs last month before the GWF and I haven't changed anything since getting it, so I'm thinking I should be fine for now, even if I have 2,000 or more calorie deficit?

elle,

I'm where you are. I take a walk in the morning with my dogs, a stroll around the hospital campus at lunch time, and don't do a ton else and am blowing my "calories burned" goal out of the water. A 2000 calorie deficit is pretty standard for me right now. I'm averaging a 1946 calorie deficit per day over the last two weeks. I'm eating 1500 calories +/- 100 calories a day. I'm losing very well right now.

I'm going to stick with what I'm doing until I see a plateau or significant decrease in my weekly weight loss. At that point I plan on adding some calories. As long as I feel good, I'm not going nuts-o on the exercise, and I am losing fairly consistently, I'm not worried about starvation mode.

Your mileage may vary, of course :)

Alright 07-05-2009 08:52 AM

I'm still averaging about a 1200 calorie deficit without trying too hard.

I too will just stick with what I'm doing until it stops working.

Yesterday I took it easy, only a 50 min walk for some exercise and I had over 2500 cals burned, only at 1300.

Today I've decided on a total recovery day, so not even a walk. I'm going out to a picnik tonight, so I plan on being careful when eating. I'd like to eat under 1500, tomorrow is my weigh in day. Tomorrow I want to exercise hard, burn gobs of calories and eat extra.

I love being able to vary my numbers so much and totally keep my body questioning my plan, cause there is no plan. Some days are high burns, some are lower, some are high calorie, some moderate, some low....it's all messed up, but the result is an average of over a 1000 cal deficit each day.

uploading data

I haven't been able to upload "calories burned" in several days. Have you?
I know there have been some incompatibility problems logged with IE 8, but I've tried the backwards compatibility button and that hasn't had any affect.

When I go to upload, I get a blank screen (the update/armband.do) that in the past would then prompt for the usb plug in.

I noticed the myapex message boards haven't had a new post since July 2, which leads me to believe something is amiss... I'd like to hear from some of you chicks who have been able to upload. Especially if you had problems before and now you've fixed it. (pls share how!) Thank you!

Idealmuse 07-06-2009 08:35 PM

I'm uploading with Safari... but that's mac only so not much help I suppose. The boards aren't always updated on weekends. Holiday weekends tend to be even slower.

HiHoHiHo 07-06-2009 08:47 PM

thanks for the tip about the message board refreshes on the weekends. I checked again and now there are some new threads - including questions regarding IE8.

Go into the internet tools and delete the temp files and cookies, restart your computer and then try to upload. Every so often this happens to me and this has always fixed it.

Idealmuse 07-08-2009 07:24 PM

Eeeeek! Big mistake I got away with!!!

Jump in the pool... cross the pool... look down and realize I'm still wearing my bodybugg armband. As most of you know it's water resistant but not meant to be submerged. Cross the pool to the other side holding it in the air. get out of the pool and dry it off... finish my 1 mile swim.

When I get back to the locker room I put it on and it BEEPS.

Woooo Hoooo. Not sure I couldn't have replaced it right now if I killed it, so I'm a happy camper.

Just plugged it in and it uploaded OK so far so good. Whew!
