New Start in 2017

Hola! The time has come - I have eaten my emotion through a miserable life changing 2016'regainened virtually all 82 lbs lost so nicely on IP in 2014-2015, and I have tried to find the ketogenic diet sweet spot that will enable me to lose again, but no luck. I think keto will be great for maintenance but it's not for me for weight loss.

So on Wed Jan 4 I will have initial weigh in and begin IP again - new clinic (my old one closed), with what appears to be a cadre of pretty knowledgeable coaches, and a good online setup for ordering food so it is ready for pickup even without a coach/WI appt. This should be as easy as it was before - just have to get through the first week and find the rhythm to carry forward.

I hope we will have some interaction for support here on these boards - FB is very popular but 3FC is full of so much excellent info, a better search capability, and a setup that allows for more direct conversation on a topic. I will check in here and hope to find others doing the same.

Yayalaine 01-02-2017 12:28 PM

I'm rebooting also... I lost 50 on IP several years ago, then fell off the wagon... slowly gained it back through the last few years and am now almost back at my all-time highest weight. So, here I am again. I got off FB because it just steals too much of my time, so I'm going to rely on 3FC for my support. I started IP using alternative products yesterday morning and so far, so good! Haven't cheated yet! haha!

Dresa 01-02-2017 05:23 PM

I managed to lose 30 pounds on IP a few years ago. I have a time limit to lose due to a career goal which requires a fitness test. Less than 6 months to get it done. I'll be doing my own alternative version (no IP food/coach) with a goal of 50 pounds total, 30 pounds by April. Totally doable based on the losses I attained last time. Happy to be back!

Hi oneuh2! Your name is familiar from when I did IP back in the 2013 timeframe. I am also rebooting and started back with IP/alternatives in early November, and so far so good. Like you said after the first week it is easy. The easier thing this time is that I know what to do going in, know the recipes, know the stats of the products etc..I am not on FB so I really lean on 3FC for support. This site REALLY helped me stay motivated and focused 1st time around. Good luck!

Back on!

Hi All! Started IP back in March then got off of it in August but back on track starting yesterday as i had gained about 5lbs back and with the wedding coming up in May i figured i need to get my butt in gear! the headaches and cravings were pretty bad earlier this morning and i so desperately wanted bacon and egg breakfast but i pulled through it and i couldn't be happier with myself.. it gets tough but once you get over that 'hump' it's smooth sailing! :) :carrot:

I started today, I originally lost 75 back in 2010 and have gained 46 in the last year after maintaining for 4 years...it happens...we can do this!

I am back to lose also ladies....I lost 75 pounds in 2010 and maintained for 4 years. In the last 1.5 years I have managed to regain 46 pounds. I am so determined to lose that 46 and another 10-15 pounds (I ended at a size 6/8 last time and I want a 4/6 this time). I also am giving myself 6 months to do this. I plan to be 100%...90% of the time (I have a long weekend to Vegas in March and 6 nights at Disney in April in which I will do Atkins those days to stay in ketosis with more flexibility).

I have tried several times to do Atkins/Ip combo and WW, but nothing works like IP. My head has clicked and I am determined. I leave for a 10 day trip to Iceland June 29th and I want to be in great shape to do all the hiking/camping on :carrot::carrot::carrot::carrot:the ring road!

Hi Rebooters! I am back for a mini "Post Holiday / New Years" reboot. I have slowly gained 10# since the beginning of Oct. and I am finally getting my rear in gear. Something about the freshness of the new year, new beginnings, all of that that makes it a little bit easier to get into action. Today is my 1st day on P1. So far, so good ;)

Yesterday and Sunday I had slowly begun to reduce carbs in hopes to alleviate some of the headaches that come with the first few days of IP. Now today is my first true day on the reboot. I was 144.4 on Sat. before I started, looking to get back to 135-136 which is where I was maintaining until it all broke loose.

Hope to see you all around the boards. I find the boards much more inspiring and supportive than the FB page. Maybe I am just old school ;)

Yayalaine 01-03-2017 04:16 PM

Have any of you found a helpful phone app for tracking food journals? I tried a couple that "lectured" me for my calories being too low. Haha! I wondered if there is one that is better for tracking IP diet?

jennydoodle 01-03-2017 04:59 PM

I use My Fitness Pal.

coffeebean 01-03-2017 06:00 PM

I am back after losing 30 pounds in 2010. I swore I would not gained it back. Well here I am. We did it once ladies we can do it again.
Quote for today. Nothing taste as good as skinny feels.

Loser13 01-03-2017 06:08 PM

Hello ladies.

After reading for some time I decided to join the group once more. I know this program works and I just have to stick with it.

I am having trouble with the big C so I went back to old posts and read that if I drank 1 L of water with 1 tbsp of sea salt that it would flush my body within the hour.

Well it DID NOT work...I was sooooooo thirsty that I drank 5 bottles of water after and did not even go to the washroom. Woke up this morning weighing an extra 4 pounds. I was VERY MAD that this happened...I was 0,4 pounds from my first goal...hopefully this will fix itself. I did weigh myself during the day and the scale did not have good news for me.

I will be taking my smooth move tea tonight and am praying this will do the trick. Don't like taking the tea too much since I find I get bloated and have bad cramps.

Well I am not letting it get to me (well not toooo much)...the old me would of ate all the junk in the house (and more) with this news but it did not happen.

I don't know how the brain works and I wish I did. Funny how sometimes I will sit there and think of junk until I can no longer stand it and then there are times that I can go for weeks without having these thoughts. Ehm...

Well hoping everyone has a great Year...one hour at a time, one day at a time...one pound at a time!

Brigitte

I also use MyFitness pal...I just pad the calories til it hits 1100 to see what my weight loss estimate says, then delete them again.

Down 3 pounds on Day 2...prolly just all the alcohol from New Years ha!

Regardless I feel :carrot: :)

PurpleMomster 01-03-2017 09:24 PM

Hi everyone!

I'm back for a reboot as well. Typical story - lost a bunch of weight in 2013, gained it back after an all inclusive Mexican vacation and then poor choices, lost a bit more last year but I met someone and my diet went out the window.

I'm back at it because the *someone* I met and I will be getting married, probably this year, and I want to look hot :)

Day 1 done, on to Day 2! Hope to see you all around more often!

Jo

oneuh2 01-03-2017 10:15 PM

Wow - so many familiar IPeep screen names from the past - so glad to see you all on 3FC - I know that connecting here was a critical success factor for my losses on IP before, and I was so sad to see the boards have become so silent in the past year

We can support one another to meet our goals - we all know that it works for us. Sorry there has been re-gain, but I am so glad to have you all with me on this journey! I go to weigh in and start tomorrow on my reboot.

We can do this!

coffeebean 01-04-2017 07:32 AM

Day 3 of my reboot. Actually do I really want to call it a reboot? I gained back my 30 pounds I lost in 2010 so I am starting over. It amazes me that after only 2 days of IP I feel so much better. I am getting all the processed food out of my system. I want and will lose 30 pounds again. I need to figure out why I gained it back so I do not make the same mistakes.

I call mine a reboot too, but I gained 46 of the 75 I lost so it is not quite starting over, but more than a reboot! I am so determined and I want to lose an extra 10-15 and try to get to a size 4/6 (I got to a 6/8 last time)

I remember you from before. My husband is my biggest crutch in keeping the weight on. We are absolute best friends and have an amazing life together and love to travel often (at least a weekend away every 2-3 weeks) and longer trips 4-5 times a year....this does not help my health and weight in any way. I am begging him (after 30 wonderful years together) to not tempt me....he never gains more than 10 pounds.

Good morning! How did everyone's day go yesterday? For the first time in a long time, I had a TRUE P1 day. :cp: Today is day 2. Almost 1/2 way through the hardest part of this diet (first 3 days).

I am not sure if my plan to slowly reduce carbs is working. I am kind of getting that head-achy feeling today and that feeling of just wanting to lie down. Oh well, it was worth a shot.

Hi Jenny! The first time I tried IP, I went low carb the week before to help.

This time, what with New Years, I spent the week before getting in enough alcohol to last the next 3 to 4 months without, ha! I haven't noticed a difference, but I'm only on Day 3. Also, was fighting bronchitis as I began.

It hasn't felt like much of a change, probably because I was doing another type of low carb about a month or so prior, it was just super high in protein...about 1600 cals a day. I can already see IP is truly "ideal" for me...higher cal plans just don't work fast enough for me.

usmcvet 01-04-2017 11:00 AM

Damn it. I am 45 today. I did great on IP in 2012. I maintained my 155 loss for a while but I got comfortable and slacked off. I felt so good. I did my own thing and most of it has come back. I have re started a dozen times. I don't stick with it. I'm here to try again. My knees are killing me these days. I know 3FC was key in my success in 2012. I met lots of good people here. The support and information was HUGE. So I'm back. XOXO

I just changed my Chrome settings so when I open up Chrome 3FC is one of the tabs that opens up!

Hi all! Since I only made goal last August, I really wasn't hoping I would need the January reboot, but alas, here I am! Today is day 2 of "true" P1...also getting the waxing waning headache and although my morning I felt high energy, I'm feeling a little sluggish now. A tad of nausea this am as well. But, as of Tuesday WI I was 8 above goal and as of this morning and 6 above goal. But truly, I NEED to get to that five below goal to truly feeling comfortable phasing back into maintenance, so I've got a ways to go. I'm guessing a good solid three if not four weeks of strict P1. Hang in there all, we got this!

Good morning! Day 1 went okay yesterday, despite being really sick. It was a struggle to eat what I was supposed to but I know the plan works if I stick to it so I stuck with it :)

Yes, the first few days are tough but you can do it!

I' m rebooting :-) I met with a coach this morning. Purchased some package and vitamins. Tomorrow is day one for me. I love seeing some familiar names. I can't wait to watch all of our journeys!!

I have tried other low carb and it is too slow to keep me sticking to the plan. I function so much better with complete strictness.

Today I still have no hunger, staying 100% on plan, but I am a science teacher and today was lab day and very busy I taught 7 period in a row of intensive lessons....I kept feeling dizzy

jennydoodle 01-04-2017 02:16 PM

I too am feeling sluggish, but am 1/2 way through Day 2 of what is looking like it is going to be another true P1 day. Yippee! I am definitely struggling a bit more today than I was yesterday, likely due to rapidly decreasing glycogen stores. I know it is still a few days off, but I am already anticipating the weekend. They are always the hardest to get through.

Lynn Margaret- I too, am thinking about 3-4 solid weeks on P1 should do the trick. I also feel better getting below goal, but I never seem to want to keep pushing once I get there! ;)

LexiChanel1 01-04-2017 02:20 PM

Hi all, lost weight in 2013 and have since had a new baby.... he's 6 months old. I'm baaaaack:)

HAPPY B-DAY! What a great birthday gift you are giving yourself! I know what you are talking about when you say that your knees are killing you...man I forgot how bad it could get. I get winded climbing the stairs at work...argh...it used to be so easy before I gained this extra 20 pounds!

Have a great day!

jennydoodle...you have been a great motivator for me...Thank you. When I first starting following these threads there was [B]lisa[B] and she was also a great motivator. She used to post these great saying of the week...it was fun to read.

I know that I have read lots more than I post but my 'resolution' is to try and write at least 4 times a week.

Have a great day...or night! Brigitte

Dresa 01-05-2017 09:13 AM

Day 4 for me...so far so good. Besides neglecting to prepare today's lunch....gonna hit the local supermarket at lunch time and hope their salad bar has some good stuff... I will also grab so WF dressing. I had hunger yesterday around 3pm, but it wasn't terrible. I just chugged water. Hoping it will be smooth sailing by the weekend.

LOSINGFORGOOD2010 01-05-2017 10:04 AM

hello all! I find for ME, I tend to get into a rut of eating almost the same 'safe' foods each day. That is dangerous as it starts to get boring. I just ordered the OXO Good Grip Hand Held Spiralizer, from Amazon to make 'zucchini' spaghetti noodles mmmmmmmmmmm. A coworker was eating that the other day and what a smart move! I have to be more creative

Morning...never had zucchini spaghetti noodles...actually never been a big fan of zucchini. Once you noodled your zucchini how do you cook it? What kind of sauce do you eat it with? Always looking for ways to change things up.

My favorite is extra-lean ground beef with 1 beef bouillon cube, 2 cups of water and 2 cups of cabbage...yummy...sometime add tomatoes...almost like lazy cabbage rolls.

Any others out there that have a favorite and would like to share?

Hey Dresa...I have read it so many times about having/taking the time to prep our meals. For me, when I work, I try to get everything ready the night before..key work...try...sometimes I am so 'dead' at night that I don't want to do it...I know how important it is...I can do it in the morning but then I have to get up earlier or miss my time walking on treadmill. When I cut up my veggies, like peppers, I try to do more so that when I am in a hurry I have some ready.
My favorite veggies are the red, yellow and orange peppers...but trying to stay under 30g of net carbs is not easy with these little fellows! I also LOVE my dill pickles...everyone thinks I'm crazy at work for always having dill pickles in my salads...oh well...

Let's keep chugging that H2O!

Hello darbs...I am also a science teacher but here in Canada we go back to work on Monday...I am not looking forward to getting back into that routine...feel so tired during the first few days!lol

Brigitte

Being at work, definitely makes it easier to stay on plan.

I have not had any headaches, stomaches, or hunger issues in the two days on plan. I have been light-headed and blood sugar seems low today.

hello all! I find for ME, I tend to get into a rut of eating almost the same 'safe' foods each day. That is dangerous as it starts to get boring. it was suggested to me to heat them up in a pan with a bit of olive oil. And yes, add spaghetti sauce over them... basil, etc however you like to flavor them up
