Finally, you have a cold & TOM. Give yourself a break and don't beat yourself up too hard. If you can, keep going on P1. I suspect you are in ketosis, but the symptoms are being skewed by everything else you have going on. Hang in there. I am thinking that once you are feeling better, TOM is over, you will have a nice big whoosh. |

Looks like all is going well on the reboots! Keep up the good work! I am starting Day 9, still going strong and still feeling good.
Oh, Lexi- you mentioned about your endurance not being up to snuff. I have always worked out on P1 and what I have noticed over the years is that the first 3 weeks or so of being in ketosis on IP, my workouts are total crap. My endurance is lower and I feel sluggish. However, after a few weeks, things tend to turn around for me and my workouts start being amazing. I don't know if it takes my body that long to acclimate to fat burning for energy or what, but when I am on P1, I tend to take it a little easier in the beginning until I am feeling optimal and then I feel unstoppable in my workouts. This could be the case for you as well. |
thx ladies
Jenny and Lynn,
Thank you for your responses. I love to hear others experiences and what works. I will continue to workout at orange, my abs are on fire.... I carry lower body weight, I am a pear. I went down a lb today.... 138... YAYyyyyyyyyy:) The weird part is I didn't workout.... Hmmmmm... I feel like my muscles retain water, and its released when I don't workout. Im really strict about going. I was going to orange 5 to 6 days.... now I am doing 5 days. The diet is allot harder this time for me. I get really tired with the kids.... Im glad Im oushing through, Thank you for your support ladies:) :) |
Hey ladies...what is this orange workout? Never heard of it. I do the Jillian Michaels DVD series...when she yells I could just go in the TV and punch her! lol Always proud of myself after completing the workout!
|
OTF = Orange Theory Fitness = Orange workout :)
They are a chain of gyms that offer intense, high cardio style workouts. |
Thanks, jennydoodle & Lita2! I'll keep plugging another week & hope for the best!
|
sorry to be so absent the past week - but it's been a crazy one. Lots going on, including me following IP all week and today was my first Weigh In on this Re-Boot -- down 7.2 lbs - that is a pound more than the first time I did IP two years ago.
I am pleased and feel like I am really on the path. And pleased for those who also lost this week. Great answer from Jennydoodle to Sparklemarkle. A week when you add illness and TOM on top of body changing start of the IP program is just more than the body can bear. Hang in and have faith in the process. It will always work for you if you do the work. I learned today that IP stopped offering Leek Soup... bummer - I liked it SOOO much better than the broccoli cheese which they kept and even better than the chicken noodle. Sad to see it go. I followed my coach's advice and had steak only one time this week and I had it Monday so it could be worked through my system by weigh in today. Coach says your body takes 2-3 days to metabolize beef, and less for the other natural proteins. This is news to me... I wish I had a study or research to look at that supports this conclusion. Onward to week 2.... I am jazzed! |
Way to go Oneuh2! You got this girl!
|
Hello Ladies:)
Sounds like everyone is doing well.... Congrats on all the losses. I was down to 137.5 this morning.... interestingly enough I missed my workout and didn't have the pre-workout protein. I think the OTF workout does hinder my losses... I retain allot of water. Cravings still here on Day 7. This morning I walked by a coke machine and wanted a regular Coca Cola so badly. Its been at least 5 years since Ive had regular full calorie coca cola..... That was kinda funny.... makes me wonder if I am losing my mind. I'm very very crabby at night. I have allot of mood swings on this diet. Yesterday I had to go collect rent from a building we own, and I was really upset when I left and they wanted a ten day extension. Happens all the time. But on this diet, it was enough to upset me all day..... does anyone else feel like this? the cola cola thing was the best this morning. Then I had coffee with a friend and she ate a donut.... I didn't care for it.... strange huh? lol.... But I kept thinking... why is she eating that donut.... lol lol anyways, that's my entertainment for this morning. OTF was doing a 2000 meter row this morning. I had booked a class and a friend texted me that she heard that was the challenge of the day... I cancelled... just couldn't row 2000 meters on this diet. Have a great day my friends:) xoxoxoxo |
Lexi- I get all kinds of ridiculous cravings when I am on P1. Foods that I NEVER eat all the sudden seem so appealing and make me want to cave. It must be the lack of carbs and calories. Because when I am on traditional maintenance and I COULD eat something, I never do or never want to. You mentioned the donut. I don't even like donuts, but on P1, if I were to see one or smell one, I would be all "mmmmmm donuts. I really want a donut. So yummy. Why can't I eat one?" It's crazy. But any other time, I would never choose to eat a donut because I don't really like them all that much and I would rather choose a cookie or a brownie or ice cream.
I also have crazy food dreams when I am on P1. It is usually sweets and I am usually cheating on the diet :) So many times I have woken up relieved that I didn't really eat the cookies, or whatever it was. Day 10 for me. I am feeling good and I am not hungry, but I am starting to have feelings of "being over" this reboot. Maybe because I am feeling good, but I am now fighting feelings of not wanting to do this anymore. Bleh. I will likely stay the course because 1). I do want to get back to goal and 2). my husband is doing it too as a reboot, so I might as well keep going if he is. It's easier when we are both rebooting together. I also think because I had that really good first week and I did see visible changes, but now that I am well into week 2, which is notoriously lower, I am not getting those same "good feelings" of getting smaller, etc... I know, you would think that by now after I have done this for so long, kept the bulk of my weight off, rebooted when necessary, etc... that I would be used to it by now. I am here to tell that "nope, it never gets easier". Ugh, that's depressing. Ok, I'm not going to leave this post on a negative note. SO. On the positive side, I have been staying on track and combatting the feelings of not wanting to. I have stayed strong and will log another perfect P1 day in my books. :) |
Jenny,
Loved your post. Enjoyed reading it.... I'm just like you with the food.... I dream about it and crave it but I don't cheat while I am committed to the diet.... I am actually on Day 9, I am losing it. You are very lucky to have your husband rebooting. I have to cook other things for me, and other things for husband and kids. today I am making them my Italian moms Pasta with meat sauce and I cant have any....lol We are going away for the kids spring break in march, so Im basically rebooting to try to fit into something I already own. Don't want to go buy all new summer clothes in March.... even though I might hit up Targeeet for some little things... Love to hear all of your stories and struggles. Thx for all of the support, xoxo |
Lol - I'll never forget the time in P1_2015, I was in WalMart and the most insane craving came over me for MAYONNAISE! I literally thought I was going to lose it if I didn't stick my hand in a jar of Dukes Mayo and eat it :barf:
1 eating dream during this reboot, but no weird cravings. Day 15 of Reboot_2017 - going good, but of course TOM decided to make an appearance this morning. At least it explains the hunger / headaches for the last 2 days, especially when I knew I hadn't ate anything to kick me out of ketosis. I got a disappointment on the scale Tuesday, so am planning to stay off until next week, when I should be well clear of my PMS symptoms. |

I went the day we were doing the squats, push ups, pull ups, and situps and counting them all.... I think I got to 75.... I walked out and went to the restroom to hide....I couldn't do it... Also, My heart rate gets super high since I started IP again. One day it got to 129 percent!!!!! OMG... the instructor ran over to me... I was fine. and I get tired and sweaty really fast.... its comical because I usually log 40 splats, and now I'm lucky if I get 20.... Literally 50 percent performance.... I'm going today at 4:30.... Have to wait for hubby to get home, set table so he eats, and then go.... I am doing ok.... its my Day 10. I want to go longer but I'm dying for a restricted bar!!I might just go straight Ideal after 'done. Or to the alternative plan, so my workouts don't suffer. I was 137.2 this morning. I was hoping to get to 133 by next Tuesday.... I doubt it, my losses are slow this time. Anyhoo...... Have a great day ladies..... much love... Lexi |

I am also TOM, so I am not expecting too much out of my weigh in tomorrow. I can definitely feel the difference in my body from when I wasn't TOM to now that I am.
Lexi & Lynn- one thing that I notice in my workouts is that it takes me a couple of weeks to become "fat adapted". The first few weeks I am on P1, my workouts stink- no energy and I feel awful. However, after a couple of weeks, my body becomes used to using fat as it's primary energy source, and then I feel unstoppable. Give it a little bit more time and hopefully you will notice an increase in your energy during your workouts. Hang in there everyone! Reboots are never easy, probably because we know how tough they can be ;) |
Jenny,
Thank you for all the advice... I appreciate it allot. I am hanging in there with the workouts, I have to!!! Ill let you know if I improve....LOL. The pre-workout shake.... I do the core series BCAA.... its good. I read that you drink a pre-workout Jenny. What are your thoughts are carbs and calories in these shakes. I looked at the nutritional info, and there isn't any info regarding calories, carbs. On the bodybuilding website it says they do have about 100 calories.... I think they contain carbs and calories as well... what are your thoughts Jenny? Which pre-workout shake do you recommend? Thank you in advance, xoxoxo |

If you are up early but you don't workout right away (say you are up at 6, but not working out until 8-8:30), I would recommend having 1/2 a protein shake pre-workout, approx. 1 hour before you workout. I'm not sure if you are using alternatives or IP products, but if you are using IP products, you may want to invest in a tub of alternate protein powder to use for this purpose so it doesn't get too expensive. Quest is a good product, fairly clean and I haven't had any issues with it. Plus, I think they are pretty tasty. |
Good morning rebooters! Starting Day 12 for me. Official weigh in has me at 138. Not too shabby. 6.4# in 11 days is better than I expected. I feel better mentally being back in the 130's. Plus this week was TOM, so I am glad to have had another loss.
Otherwise, things here are status quo. Feeling better all around, clothes feel better and I feel like I look better. |
Pre workout...

Day 10
I'm on Day 10. My husband is doing a 12 hour shift tonight and I'm stuck home with my kids acting pretty kookoo. We went to the mall earlier ... but they have been bad all day so I've had many moments where I want to cheat really badly. I think I'm going nutty on this reboot. I'm still 137. No more losses to report. I don't think I'm going to continue the reset. I can't have any restricted and that's what's probably putting me over the edge. I did my workout yesterday and I couldn't go today and can't go tomorrow. I actually did well yesterday. 670 calories burned and I was in the heart rate zone to burn for 35 minutes. Not bad for low carbing. Jenny, you were right ... my workouts are getting better!!!!
Today I met my sisters and brothers at Cheesecake Factory for my baby brothers birthday. It was super rough ... they were all eating bacon burgers bread butter and then cheesecake. I was on the verge of a break down. Then I came home and calmed down.... I should just avoid these outings when I'm dieting. My health stats are really bad. High cholesterol bp and borderline diabetic. I really need to do this right. Sorry about my rant. I had a rough dieting day:( Hope everyone is doing well! Xoxo Lexi |

Hello everyone
I am on day 14 of my reboot. I do not think my losses will be great tomorrow at weigh in but overall down 8 pounds in 2 weeks. I feel so good. I went to the movies yesterday and the smell of delicious movie popcorn didn't tempt me. I can do this. |

Hi everyone - just checking Io say I am pretty much on track and until this morning I have dropped partial ponds every day. This morning begins day 11 and I am down a total of 9.4 lbs. I see to have messed up my ticker, so I will have to try to set up a new one.
For you guys who are working out - I commend you for continuing your exercise habit but I also know that this promote slow loss due to the body holding extra fluid. If you value doing both I guess you have to kind of live with that... I think if you keep it light to moderate in intensity, you would eventually adapt, but you will likely be back to maintaining before too long - unlike me it seems you guys are rebooting after relatively small regains. Sadly I have to plan on another 7-8 month phase 1, so I am waiting a few weeks and then starting some strength training. I need more muscle mass - right now I am at 50%. I was fairly high fat percent even when I lost 80 lbs before, my lean mass was pretty low and then sitting in hospitals and rehab centers and nursing home with husband for 8 months just made that worse. I think walking and some free weights will be my best approach for now.... And some dancing of course! Swing and Salsa make me breathe pretty heavy right now so I know I need some aerobic exertion. Regarding the restricteds - to have or have not - now that IP has the vanilla crisps that are unrestricted, I find that to be as satisfying as a restricted bar from the IP selections. Personally I miss the Quest bars we could cut up and bake as cookies - but I am impressed with the IP Vanilla Crisp. Good idea to try this to satisfy that sweet crave. Re craving the forbiddens.... I have pretty much gotten past the need for real sugar stuff - I look at the Starbucks glass case and really have no urges despite my love for baked goods...I want something to munch on sometimes though... The Keto community advocates pickle juice to stave off cravings... I am going to try whole dill pickles when I want to just feed face with something to munch on. They count against the select veggies, but that's ok. I just need to settle in for the long haul... I know time will fly if I do not obsess over this - and August will come whether I stick to plan or not. I have to remind myself that my August birthday will be a much better celebration if I stick to plan than if I have to look back and wish I had not wasted the chance to get back to a healthy weight that fits into the nice clothing in my closet. So for me on this Sunday... I am hanging in! Update - I weighed again before getting dressed this morning - no food yet though I should have been up and had a shake or something before noon - but my scale showed a half pound loss from yesterday... and 1.2 lbs less than my morning weigh in at 6:30AM.... same nightgown, no food, and just a couple of pee trips to the bathroom were the only things different. And I had double checked the scale reading at both times that I weighed, early before I went back to sleep, and again when I got up at noon. The scale is a snapshot at a moment in time and so many things can change the reading. Go figure. |
Way to go one. Those are great stats! I am hoping to get to goal by the end of June so I am here for some time also. Together we can and will get this done.
Bravo coffee for those great losses. When I go to the movies, mostly with my daughter, she does not get popcorn anymore (even if I tell her I can handle it)...she wants to see me get back to my goal and she knows how hard I am working. I bring my chips with me (Protes) and break them into small pieces to make them last...and I have some water. One hour at a time, one day at a time, one pound (or more) at a time! Brigitte |
Hi All!
I'm back! It's wonderful to see the activity on these boards. Looking forward to continuing the journey with you all. I lost 81 pounds 2012-2013 and kept off most of it with some little reboots throughout the years. My biggest reboot began this past September when I realized I had gained back 45 pounds during the spring and summer. I had gone through a tough year with the loss of my sister. I was OP last fall and lost 25. Somehow in the last 5 weeks (and I know how it happened - no surprise here) I've gained back 17 of the pounds I lost last fall. I wanted to wait until this weekend to begin. And I did. Today is my second day and I'm feeling the normal "second day-ish feeling." Happy to be back on program, a little head-achy, VERY happy to be back. I readjusted my goal to 135 from 125 as a more realistic maintenance goal. When I get there I can decide if I want to lose a bit more, but for now this is a good goal for me. So...Happy New Year to you all! I look forward to this journey with you. And I look forward to fitting into my smaller size clothing once again as spring approaches. BTW - You might think that the holiday treat temptations are a thing of November-December. Well, down here in Louisiana we are already in Mardi Gras Mode. My department office prides itself on eating the most King Cakes from now leading up to Mardi Gras in February. Every day there is a King Cake in the office and an email announcing it. Good grief!! Not a temptation for me, though. :newyear: |

It's like what we were talking about with food cravings. There are so many foods that look so good when I am on P1 that I would never dream of touching when I am in maintenance. It's the same concept. |

That is why I have exercised throughout my entire time on IP. You will find that this is a very divided topic, and ultimately, you have to decide what you want to do. I am currently on P1 for a reboot to lose 10# gained over the fall and holidays and I do hot yoga 1-2x per week. I love it. I love the cleansed feeling you get from sweating everything out and I love the lean feeling you get from stretching your muscles. So, the short answer is that there is no right or wrong answer. The true IP protocol would tell you no, but you will find that there are many "exercisers" here that have exercised the entire time with no negative effects. Ultimately you have to listen to your body and only do what you feel comfortable doing. |

Welcome back! Day 13 for me and I am on my way to successfully getting through another weekend. Overall, I feel good (body wise) and I am past the point of being hungry anymore. That is good, but I gotta tell ya, I seriously can't wait for this reboot to be over  Another 4 weeks, at the very most for me. I have 2-3 more pounds until I am back at goal, so this should be very achievable. Starting Feb 13, I have a lot going on, traveling, company, etc... so I really want to be back in maintenance mode by then as it just makes all of that stuff so much easier. Hang in there in everyone! |
