I have not done official IP packets since the very first time, in 2011. Ever since, I have done alternatives and I just tried to match as close as possible to what I liked on IP. It's interesting to hear that they have added more carbs to their "menu" and I noticed a lot of the foods have wheat or gluten in them. Personally, I feel what made this diet so successful for me the 1st time and the reboots after is the fact that I stay very low carb and I eliminate flour completely from my diet. That may just be my body, but I thrive when I do not put gluten into my body. I have to say that I believe that if I were to do the diet today without knowing that, I would not be nearly as successful.

Just got back from another work trip with my 'colleague'...lol...did not let it get to me this time...I had prepared all my food again and survived our time together...

I have never followed the IP clinic...none were available in my area...now there are some consultants so I went in to buy some products (which I can do at this place)...I looked at the carbs and could not believe how high they were in many of the products...I did not purchase any...

Here in a small rural area in Canada I am not able to get some of the great products you get in the States...I love Quest chips but they are 4,25$ each (even on Amazon.ca), I buy Simply Protein products (crunch...8g of carbs...chips are now 9 or 10g since they changed (I wish they would stop IMPROVING things and adding carbs!!!), I also purchase stuff from the lowcarbgrocer...canadian funds, free shipping for 100$...and this is what I do...Protes chips and chocorite bars)...this is what I mostly use for my products. For my drink I use hydroxycut protein vanilla...2,50$ each.

Getting close to 175lbs...and jenny I am getting that 'hollow' feeling...belly going down some...

Let's keep going!

Hello Weekend!

Stay Strong!

Ro22 07-29-2017 10:37 AM

Hi All,

I am back.

I had rotator cuff surgery in April that was a pretty big surgery and was immobilized for 6 weeks so didn't do any typing and then had to get caught up with things with work and such and went on vacation, birthday, etc so I settled back in and started back on IP July 1. Today begins Week 5/Month 2 for me. I didn't weigh myself at the start (didn't want to depress myself right after deciding to do something positive for myself) so decided to weigh in at week 2 and then again today so today was first day I got to calculate pounds lost thus far. In last 2 weeks I have lost 10.1 pounds. I am tracking this to how I did IP first time and it is pretty close - 11 pounds vs 10.1.
I decided to do phase 1 the exact same way I did the first time. No recipes with the packets and salads for dinner with 8 oz ground turkey (99% fat free Jennie-O Extra Lean). To occasionally switch things up, I reduce dinner protein by 2 oz turkey and add a hard boiled egg to salad. I am only eating spinach, broccoli and kale as I only want green, leafy vegetables.
I'm going strong!

For those that are commenting about carbs IP added (I didn't know that was the case), let me tell you that you should not be concerned. There is no correlation between level of ketosis and fat loss. As long as you are in ketosis you are fine in regards of burning fat for energy. I can tell you that in a number of reboots I followed a keto diet where I get in very deep levels of ketosis (2.5-3.0) vs IP of .6-1.1 and I didn't lose any fat on keto to speak of with same number of calories as IP. So, do not fret - I did a lot of blood testing and did this for many weeks to ultimately conclude that the way IP balances this all out with this program is pretty nifty and I stopped thinking I know better and tweaking, etc. I should say that there is one thing I am doing different than first time which is I have added a restricted item in the last week and you see my results are same as when I first did this when I never consumed any restricted item. Maybe this is countered by fact I only consume green, leafy vegetables but know that deeper levels of ketosis do not translate into greater fat loss.

Good luck everyone!

I won't weigh again until 1 month from today as I like to see big losses. The first time I lost 12 pounds in Month 2 so Iam expecting to be in the ballpark of that this time. That would put me at my pre-surgery weight which I was very happy at. But, I decided to go for it and get back to same weight as originally which would be about 27 pounds more so I'm projecting doing phase 1 into early November.

One last thing - I started on a Saturday which I would never do as I had always started on a Monday but I find it really helps with the weekends as I feel great to say it is Saturday and I am starting Month 2 vs struggling to get through weekend to make it to Monday weigh-in and with weekly work schedule, come Monday, I'm already in day 3 and the week flies fast so this little trick is really working for me mentally. Hey, any edge we can get, right!?

Btw, frawnie, I so agree with you about Facebook and just feeling comfortable here!!!

jennydoodle 07-29-2017 06:14 PM

Hi Rebooters! How is everyone managing the weekend? Things are going well for me. I weighed in this morning at 134.2, which is the lowest that I have been in a really long time. I think my weight was right around 134 when I decided to start phasing off my very first time on IP back in 2011. With that, I am officially transitioning off of my reboot. 3 solid weeks on P1 and I am down 6.2#. I do the plan like Ro- green veggies, no fiddling around with packets- just straight up and only occasional restricted items. This seems to be the formula that works best for my body and provides me maximum losses.

I feel so much better now, being back in my comfort zone and having a little wiggle room in my clothes. That is really what is most important to me. I am doing 1 more week of low carb to stay in ketosis, but am just going to transition to all meals with real protein. The only time I will take a shake will be post workout. After all these years, I get pretty burnt out on the packets fairly quick. Especially when I am rebooting. I did all my food prep- lots of chicken and veggies on the menu for next week.

Ro- glad to see you back and glad your shoulder is back in action. You'll crush this reboot! You always do and you know exactly what to do :)

Stay strong through the weekend everyone!

Ro22 07-30-2017 12:57 AM

Thanks, Jenny!
Glad to hear your reboot is essentially over. Congrats on making it back to the weight you were at when you transitioned from IP the first time

Way to go jennydoodle!

Just wondering what your net carb intake is when you do your reboot? What are your favorite packets that you take?

When you say you will do one more week of low carb...with the packets?

I am trying to figure things out for myself so that I don't derail...sometimes I wonder if I am not getting enough and then go nuts for junk...I always regret it and feel like ...'kitten'...lol

Congrats again...one day at a time...skinny jeans hear I come!

jennydoodle 07-30-2017 10:08 AM

Thanks! Well, I say "packets" but I do alternatives with Quest products, so they really aren't packets, per say. My typical reboot day looks something like:

6:00am- 2 HB egg whites (pre workout)
7:30am- (1) scoop Quest protein powder / shake (post workout)
10:00am- Breakfast (1) scoop Quest. Either as a shake or baked into little "cookies"
1:00pm- Lunch. 4oz chicken with large salad and dressing made with EVOO
4:00pm- (1) bag Quest protein chips
7:00pm- Dinner. (1) scoop Quest. Either as shake or baked into the little cookies + large salad with dressing made with EVOO

My total carbs are around 40g and my net is around 25g.

So this week, I am doing all real foods. So instead of Quest protein powder at breakfast, I will actually do eggs with veggies. And same with dinner. I'll actually do chicken or turkey instead of having protein powder. This will help me transition into the following week when I start to bring carbs back in. The only time I will use protein powder will be after my workout and the Quest chips. I absolutely love those things! I eat one every single day :) Even on maintenance. And I always do a protein shake after my workout, have been for many years.

Does that help? It works for me and the way I transition to maintenance works for me also. I know it is not the "IP method", so I don't want to discourage anyone. I think the most important part of maintenance is to find what works for you. I wasn't able to make the IP maintenance plan work for me, so I figured out what did.

I get what you are saying about not getting enough. I actually take in a bit more protein than IP outlines, and I tend to get really hungry, even in ketosis. When I fully rebooted back in 2015, I did the packets the whole time. But now when I am trying to just get 5-10# off, I can really only do the "packets" for a few weeks before I just can't take it anymore. :) That is probably just the difference between needing to lose a lot and a little.

Do you order the Quest through Nushra?

No. I get it either on Amazon or Vitamin Shoppe. Also available at GNC.

Thanks for taking the time to write this information. It is great and it will help me. I love your schedule...it is a great guide. I will start working out again in the morning with Jillian Micheals (I love her workouts...)...now I have been walking about an hour a day to get back into it...

I do love my peanut butter Quest...yummy!

Why is it that you only eat 4oz of meat and not 8oz?

jennydoodle 07-31-2017 08:12 AM

I only do the 4oz. because I already take in the extra egg whites and the extra post workout shake. I am already over the IP guidelines, so I limit my meat portion to 4 oz, which is roughly 25g. Plus, the Quest products are a little higher in protein than IP.

Weekend!💋

Hello fellow rebooters!❤

So I got to share and I figured you guys were the best people I could share this with, I have been struggling with sadness and depression for the last couple weeks just been hitting me really hard I know I'm going through the big "M" but I just don't know what else to do about it I am a spiritual person so I have to pray and fight and work on the issues that arise but I am just struggling I have not gone off plan but I'm eating more protein than I should more salt and then couple days ago I took a big bite of jelly from the refrigerator all right I admit it, I felt like cheating big time in the last couple of days. I felt like what am I doing this for who am I doing this for. So I figured the menopause is probably my biggest struggle and been taking everything and anything imaginable to help fight the sadness depression crying everything and massive hot flashes you name it anyway anybody got any advice for menopause.. that may have helped you?
Sincerely, iper that wants to eat all the cake!

Ro22 08-05-2017 03:03 AM

Sorry to hear that, Skinnygirl. Unfortunately, I don't have any advice for you in direct correlation to what you asked. I am going through peri menopause so I don't yet have those symptoms you have. All I can say is that doing healthy things for myself make me feel good. And, this program in particular is helpful because endorphins are released and I have more energy than I know what to do with. Just 5 weeks ago I was feeling blue because of the weight I had gained and in just a few days of starting back I got rid of the bloated, sluggish feeling and felt better and even better now. And, I am going strong - I am going through major conflict in my professional life and following this protocol is helping me stay grounded and deal with that.
I hope you find peace soon!

Skinnyjeangirl 08-05-2017 09:40 AM

Thanks, I dont like the whole menopausal thing at all! I have a few life change as well that is going on too that probably adds to it all. Nothing too serious but gosh darn life changes. Thanks for letting me vent. I am happy with my weight loss and will continue to get to my goal. I just need to find a solution to my hot flashes and being sad lately. Hugs

Hello Weekend!

Hey Good-morning Rebooter peeps!

Be strong this weekend, drink lots of water! I have been taking calcium/magnesium at night before bed and boy does it do wonders. Helps with sleep and that extra help for being stopped up! I know kinda personal, but what a great relief. Anyhoo! See you on the boards :dizzy:

Ro22 08-11-2017 11:41 AM

That's great, Skinny.

I really look forward to the chocolate chew for cal-mag-zinc-Vutamin D. It is a nice little treat twice a day. Very different from those giant horse pills!

Today completes 6 weeks for me. I'm going strong. Two more weeks completes my initial goal of 8 weeks which will get me to pre-surgery weight. I will weigh then too to make note of what I will have lost over the month. It will be nice to see a month's loss.

But, the real interesting part will come after 8 weeks as I will enter weights I haven't seen since doing IP the first time 3 years ago. That is very appealing to me right now - not sure why now vs over course of prior 3 years. I know it is related to doubts in my mind about the safety of this program for months but that doubt has left me. But, I should get blood work done soon to see how I'm doing to ensure I don't miss anything brewing like I did the first time doing this.

Skinnyjeangirl 08-11-2017 08:49 PM

Rooting for you Ro22!

So you haven't weighed for month? That would be nice, but I am an everyday weigher!lol I am a lot stronger this time way more that the first time I did on IP. I will phase of properly and really focus on my eating habits.
I am excited to see what the next couple months will bring! Stay Strong

Right now I haven't weighed for 2 weeks and won't for another 2. I like to see big losses and not have my head messed with by water weight fluctuations, etc.
I would go to coach and weigh every 4 weeks when I originally did this and I am repeating that pattern and comparing results. This month 3 years ago I lost 12 pounds so I am expecting in 2 weeks' time, that is what I'll find I lost. I look forward to Aug 26 and in the meantime it keeps me on protocol in anticipation of that weigh-in.

Skinnyjeangirl 08-13-2017 09:22 PM

Me too, sometimes!

During TOM, even though I don't have it, I still have symptoms, I won't weigh for that week. I wish I could go without weighing for month! Well, here is to this next week! That we make good choices and drink lots of water. I have a goal pair of pants, I tried them on a couple days ago, they are tight but I got them on! so I will try again at the beginning of September. Minnie goal pants! wooohooo. Good vibes for this week!:cp:

Small Victory!

Finally made it past the 160s! Took a long time! :carrot: I know that I have wanted to eat that piece of cake many times, but what is getting me through is seeing that my clothes are fitting better. My body is different this time loosing weight, from gaining and losing many times my skin is different. So off to the gym I go. I have been walking this past 4 months diligently, now its time for some fun stuff like Zumba and weights. I have only done one 5k this year and will look into some fall running. soooo.... keep up the good work, it will pay off. I have a little ways to go for my goal, which this time around I am praying I will make it. Here's to a great Tuesday. muah!

Congrats!!!!

Starting a week from Saturday I will be in a similar position as I will achieve weight I haven't hit since doing IP the first time 3 years ago. For whatever reason I am motivated now like I was then. And to ensure that continues to be the case I picked up 6 weeks of products yesterday (I have never deviated from protocol when I have had IP products in the house) so I have guaranteed myself of getting at least 3 months in and determining how I am feeling at that point. Right now I am planning on getting to original goal but people told me I looked older when I did that the first time so I am going to assess month by month and decide my goal - for now, it is the weight I achieved the first time.

people have told me that I was too thin last time... so people schmeaple! thats what I say. We are doing to be healthier. Here is to your weigh in!:carrot:. I am excited for you! there are many exercises we can do to help our faces and body. I use lots of natural oils on my face and have been for 20+ years. it is the best thing i have done for myself to keep skin lovely. I do see the age spots coming in, but there are natural products that have been a blessing for me and it tightens the areas that need it most. plus water! woohoo for you and me!

My super goal weight is 135. But, I decided to shoot for 145 to 140 and go from there. Its taken me a little longer this time, vs. 2013, because I tend to eat more protein at night. But, I am a happy camper for sure. Good luck to your "scream weight" I will scream when I hit 150! for sure. woohoo:dizzy:

canadjineh 08-17-2017 05:10 AM

I've been at 140 now for close on a year, supposedly working my way back to 132 but 135 is my top limit to still fit my smallest clothes.

Hopefully everyone is just staying busy and staying on plan. I weigh next week so I am excited to see just a few pounds gone. I am hoping the weather will cool down a little, its been sooo hot! anyhoo, here's to another week on program. Stay focused and try something different this week, mine is a cycling class and some yoga, my body is so tight! ugh. happy week to you all:carrot:

No chance of me straying. I'm going strong and committed like the first time. I weigh myself Saturday for 1st time in a month. My excitement for that has been tempered by the fact that I tried on a pair of jeans that I thought should fit but didn't. They will in two weeks. So, I am readjusting to first get in clothes I wore before surgery and then focus on weight I haven't seen since doing IP first time. That's ok - it won't derail me as I just treated it like a data point.

Me either! I am so excited for the determination in me. I have smelled that jar of peanut butter and bag of chocolates though. Thats about the closest I have gotten to any cheating! I tried on a pair of pants last week and about cried. I will probably fit nicely into them the end of Sept maybe the middle... woohooo:jig:

You know the funny thing...I have had situations where I could not fit in pants and then next time I tried they were too big. Just keep going and you'll be amazed soon that what was once impossible/tight will be loose!!!!

Happy Thursday 😜

Good morning everyone, it is been very quiet on the boards lately I'm hoping everybody has gotten to a point where they don't need to be on the boards and has reached the goal that they are hoping for. I will probably stay here until I get on to phase 4, I am past the 160s but I am stalling right now and I'm okay with it. My co-workers are now wanting to know what I'm doing to lose weight, I told them it is a very strict diet and knowing how everybody in my Branch eats it may be tough for some people. I have avoided every potluck for the last 4 months so here's to keep going, keep fighting get back on the boards if you have fallen off the wagon, and keep talking to people about what's going on. Don't give up just because you cheated once. Have a good day my fellow rebooters💋👀👏

Good job Skinnyjeangirl! I know it feels good to see the 150's again. That's what I'm shooting for. I haven't updated my stats on here since I've rebooted. I was doing it all on my own with alternatives but found I was not being diligent or successful, so I have gone back to the clinic and I'm seeing results (slow results but results) I tend to be a slow loser.

I weigh myself tomorrow to get my past month total weight loss. I'm flying home to Chicago now from California so worried that I'll have water retention that will affect my result. I am contemplating waiting until Sunday but we'll see how I feel in the morning. I'm tired and still have 2.5 hours left in my flight.
I'll let you know how much I lost for the month. Today completes 8 weeks. I plan to keep going to achieve same results as originally achieved which should take me into November. For whatever reason, I am not feeling great about my loss so far. It will be interesting to see what scale shows. I would need to lose 12 pounds for the month to be where I was pre-surgery back on April 27.

Good Weekend!

Hey Rebooting peeps!

This weekend was great, I actually weighed my protein! lol.... I was eyeballing it because I got so use to exact hand size. I am amazed that I did so well, minus less than an ounce.
My mom is 74 and had done this with me several years ago when I first did it, she only put back 12 pounds. So she is just going to follow the phase 3 and 4 protocol. I am sure by just eating that way she will do just fine.

That's where I will be at the beginning of November(phases) I am happy with my weight coming off this time. As I get older I feel its important to watch my body more closely. I notice the aches and pains, and have been paying attention to that, plus the meno stuff and my thyroid levels. Taking DIM, thyroid and many well searched vitamins I am feeling a lot better. Here is to a good week. Drink your water! stay focused. Swim suit season is just about over, now we must fight the fall holiday stuff. We can do this!!!

Hello to the long weekend. I am going camping for the weekend with my kids. I have to pack today after work and prepare my meals and my husbands. I am excited to get a way and enjoy the beautiful scenery and weather. I may fish too! see you all next week! Stay strong people!

Skinnyjeangirl 09-05-2017 09:13 AM

Happy Tuesday Morning
Went camping, didnt catch any fish... actually didnt fish. It was so hot. 90 degrees. No trees and a awning that was too small for about 10 people. But I had a blast! we canoed and swam and played with the kids! Ate 90 percent. Back to it yesterday and today full swing. Want to lose 4-6 pounds this month. So that is my mini goal. I am going to try and stay away from the scale til the end of the month! Wish me luck... How did you all do this weekend... see you soon!

Hi all! Weekend went well (most of it was on shift) and I did get an afternoon off with hubby to go to the beach and then on Monday afternoon when I woke up we went for a little 6 km hike. It was very hot (31C) but a lot of the time we were under the tree canopy along the trail. So here's my Mt. Swanson September Selfie. It was so breezy and peaceful and we were approached by a rather forward little chipmunk who thought we might have a snack for him. FUGGETABOUDIT! I'M NOT SHARING MY PROTEIN BAR!
My weigh in for the first week was today... only lost 1.8 lbs but then again I ate a couple huge plates of Asian food last night for supper - a mix of stirfried shrimp & chicken with green beans in oyster sauce and freshly made to order sushi. I was good and didn't eat as much sushi as I really wanted to but my portion of rice fit my Alternative phase 1 group choice. I just ate too much food overall. And the soysauce bloat, lol.
That's OK because I lost 5". Underbust, waist, belly, hip, thighs. Yaaay! Next week the weight will look better.

Liana
