Gem I was eating a lot of them, (peppers) and she just said to be careful, they could lead me to slow the weight loss. The other one she suggested that I treat as a restricted veggie is turnip. I was eating 2 cups of them at a time and some times twice a week. I think it was Briael that explained it for me when I mentioned it. I'm pretty certain it's this thread sometime in March. There is such a wealth of information on these forums.
Liana good to know about the tomatoes. I didn't realize there were different amounts of carbs in the different varieties.
Amanda I don't use a food tracker but I think I'm going to start. I'm sure it will make any issues much more apparent. And I love the idea of see what others are eat, it may help varying the diet.
Destony thanks for the info, good to know about the turnips (although I haven't eaten them) Do you make oven fries with them? I've used jicama for fries. I wish my coach would have explained all of those things. More information is better!
Thanks so much to all of you ladies, I feel like I'm learning more here than at my weigh ins.
I've been enjoying rutabaga fries - but again this is a restricted veggie.
Destony - I know some are more carb sensitive than others - guess I am lucky - so far mini peppers (red, yellow, orange) haven't bothered me but I will be watching carefully. I thought I saw somewhere orange veggies are not allowed (but that may have been an older protocol)
Fantastic day! Had a surprise on the scale & took the day off. A friend and I went to see Alan Doyle (lead singer of Great Big Sea) tonight - "girls night"! I was DD - beer isn't an issue anymore but have to admit the couple next to us shared a bowl of chili that smelled divine! I had a great 8oz lean burger with lettuce wrap that kicked some butt too though.
Hi everyone, I've been reading along for the past few days. Nice to see so much knowledge from our veteran IP crew!
Not much to report here, still waiting for TOM to show up, but I cut out a few things and the bloating has decreased a tiny bit and the scale has dropped a few tenths of a kilo, so I will take it.
Happy Monday everyone! Well, after most of my lamenting over how I was feeling last week, it is in fact TOM. I go to get the FSH level checked tomorrow and again in 2 weeks, but that makes me feel more at ease. Just get through the ultrasound on the right breast tomorrow and hopefully I am home free on everything- this 50 stuff is a drag! Whatevs. ☺ I was still down 1.4 at Saturdays WI, that's good- hopefully it'll be a bigger one next Sat. Went out to lunch yesterday- I ate baked scallops and spinach. They were good. for dinner I did as though it were lunch- Broccoli soup and Cauli-rice. Had my snack before bed-choc-mint bar...why did I not discover them sooner??? I guess the eating out at restaurants isn't to be feared as much as I was. It's still dark out-I'm listening to a turkey and what sounds to be a cat meowing...I'll just leave that to my imagination (and yours) miles of woods and they are right by my back deck- and it's almost time to head out to the shower....Hope you all have a wonderful, success filled day!!! <-couldn't resist-
Good Morning! Had a little movement on the scale this morning (yay!), encouraging way to start a Monday.
I started using My Fitness Pal (same user name, so feel free to follow me). I actually signed up 2 years ago with my daughter & used it for a couple of weeks while she was home during summer break, I'm going to try to make it part of my lifestyle change. My weight loss goal back then was the same, but my starting weight was less (128).
Morning!! Woke up without a voice today. Laringitis not good for someone who must talk all day at work. I'm down 2.5 pounds from the turkey sausage incident. Damn delicious salty not OP turkey sausage!! It's my hope to be in the 150's by Friday. That's unexplored territory for me....
Destony, FYI, I am a diabetic and my coach cautioned me to stay away from jicama. Lots of carbs. She said she is really surprised to see it on IP's allowed vegetable list. Damn, I knew it was too good to be true for me!

Just as an FYI - yes, there are carbs (11.5g per cup) but fiber is 5.9g - per MFP (51%), which can be subtracted from net carbs = 5.6g per cup.

Congrats on the loss! Glad the water weight is down & hope you see the 150's by next week.
Destony - Awesome! Congrats! I hear you on the eating out - went out last night with a friend, but she knows about my "crazy" eating and was more than happy to oblige me & go somewhere IP friendly. Had a grass fed, local sourced 8oz hunk of beef
I hit my goal this morning - registered 193.8 on the scales this morning, so 40 pounds down & -5 pounds in 9 days! Seems like upping my calories / eating fattier pieces of protein has helped shake things up a bit.
Woohoo kdramalover &Beth! (Love the dancing broccoli)
Destony Jicama makes delicious fries, they remind me of sweet potatoes. Not surprised to see that they are high in carbs, so all in all they may end to be just like the turnips (an occasional veg) even though they're unrestricted.
Thanks!! S'mores and all things s'more flavor are my fav!!
Congratulations to all those who had positive movement on the scale.
After a tiny energy burst, I'm back in bed. I'm thinking this laringitis is the beginning of something more. Everyone has been sick at work and dealing with the public is hard on one's immune system. DH just told me that it's alright to cheat when you're sick. He offered to pick up some spicy Korean soup. Korean's believe in eating spicy to sweat out the illness. He doesn't understand that one cheat can make the whole week a waste. Sweet gesture never the less.
I was going through some old pictures when I weighed the same as I do now. It must be because I'm older (46) but I look heavier now at the same weight. It's amazing how time, pregnancy, and life changes a person so completely. My perception of myself physically is very warped. I honestly have no ideal what I really look like.
