The ped's appt was alright. DS has lost 1.5 pounds from increased activity. The ped agreed about checking him for food allergies also. I should have been the one to take Ds to the doctors instead of having DH doing it. Live and learn.
I came home early from work because I was just exhausted. I ate my strawberry wafer so quickly that I barely even tasted it. My hunger was so intense today that I had a headache. I thought I was over the hunger stage. I'm going to chalk it up to my hormones and drink more water.
Yay for DS losing some weight already - what a great start and it must be helping with his "happiness" level.
While it was a harsh lesson, DS now knows that some people won't pull their punches and maybe the sharp shock will contribute to him sticking with the higher level of activity.
You can't undo the past decisions, but DS is now on his way to a healthier future, and that's got to be a good thing.

Yesterday in order to keep hunger at bay I drank over 3 liters of water. The scale is down from 164.3 yesterday to 160.5 today. Water is huge. Is there such a thing as drinking too much water?
Hahahah, DS is very descriptive on his negative associations, isn't he? LOL
Yes, you can get water poisoning and overload the kidneys so much that you put your electrolytes out of balance. However, if you're drinking up to half your body weight it shouldn't be an issue.
I've noticed that when I've been particularly physically active my body holds onto water a lot longer .. and that each month I'm on IP macros my hydration level is increasing. I started at 37% water and am now up to 51%. Muscle needs more water than fat, especially when it's repairing. It takes a couple to a few days to filter out again, but it does seem to take some fat with it.
Hi All!
I just found this site searching for some answers, hopefully someone can give me some advise. A little about me, I started 2/3/14, with a loss goal of 25 lbs; I'm 5' and was 140lbs. Except for the very 1st week when I was having difficulty eating the 8oz. of protein for dinner, I've stuck to the program 100%, not cheating etc. My weight loss has been slow 3lb the 1st week then 1.5-1.7 a week, which wasn't great but atleast the weight was coming off. Then I stalled...
I came back from vacation (and yes I stayed on the program no cheating on vacation, I could have killed for a glass of wine, lol!) I weighed in with a 2 week weight loss of 4.4 lbs, but I also had my tanita scale weigh on that day & that scaled showed my about 2.5lb heavier (it was right on with my home scale). I think the regular weigh in scale may have been off, but my counselor said that it was accurate. The next few weeks I was up a pound and down a pound, with the 4th week weigh in only down a total of .6lbs from the weigh in after vacation. I think that the original weigh in was inaccurate, but with that my 4 week weight loss would only have been 3lbs. I'm currently at 124.8 and it seems that I've stalled. Last week I was advised to do a pizza cheat to see if that would get things moving, my weigh in this week was down .2lb from the previous week. This week they've removed the restricted product & I'm eating all new products. My counselor said that my weight loss will be slow at this point since I'm in the "healthy" range (just barely). Has anyone else stalled? How did you get things moving again? I'm a little frustrated at this point, looking for some advise.
I love coming home at night and checking in to see how everyone's day went! kd almost 4 lbs!! Holy amazing!!! It made me chuckle to read DS comment about the cat box ☺ Beth great to hear you're still in the ones! That must feel great!!I know what you mean about setting a goal and getting frustrated. I try to work on that, but not always successful...
Gawd, I hope we're not at the wall stage yet...THAT will really put me over the edge-lol
I did make an appointment with the doctor tomorrow, so hopefully he'll say everything is fine and it's just something associated with this blasted perimenopause...Have a great night everyone!

Gem9117, to clarify, did you start 2/3/15, not 2/3/14?
I am a fellow newbie so I will defer to the 'wiser' IPers!

*11 weeks and I'm down 15.2lbs.
Thanks!
Technically a stall is no weight OR inches lost in several weeks. Weight loss is never linear. Our bodies go through a readjustment week or two once in a while and then there is a big whoosh of weight and/or inches lost. There is no need to tweak. Especially as you get very close to your goal weight. The last 10 lbs could take 4x as long as the first 10, lol. And that's normal. Your body becomes more efficient the closer you get to healthy goal. Pizza cheat, really??? That's so not in line with IP head office. If you need to break a real stall, most often it's that you need fattier foods (red meats) or a bit more calories - P2 is the way to go for that. In the meantime make sure you are getting in ALL your water, supplements, oil, and salt.
I'm experiencing a lot of what some others are right now. Today I was so tired, really exhausted. Hungry all day. Had my weigh in, lost my usual 2.2 lbs again BUT the difference this week was that one pound was lean body mass. Crummy! So now I'm trying to figure out what happened. Only thing different this week was I started incorporating some weight training. Really light though. Ironically, I was trying to build lean muscle but got the opposite.

Congrats on the loss, sorry you are going through the doldrums too.
I keep reading different opinions on the boards about these fat / lean body mass stats given at the clinics..also, I think Amanda pointed out recently that as we lose weight, some lean mass is going to be part of the over all weight loss. I guess what would be concerning would be continuous lean mass loss - week over week. Imho, that would mean your not getting enough protein to sustain.
Destony - Thanks - sending happy thoughts for your appointment - let us know how it goes.
...I will be a much happier person overall come next Friday.

Thank you all for the good thoughts. I'll let you know how I make out. Hopefully my biggest worry will end up being that the bloated feeling is going to seriously impact my WI tomorrow. Burnt my darn pancake this morning.. at least it's Friday...have a great day everyone!!
Thanks Liana, I'm hoping you're right and that it was just a readjustment period. I'm not sure I can hold out 4x as long to lose the last 10lbs, that would put me at 8 months. If that's the case I think I will have to try another route.
I meant to mention that I've lost muscle as well, down 3lb muscle overall. Is anyone else losing muscle? What can be done to prevent that?

The 'lean' weight percentage as shown on the gizmos at the clinics consists of EVERYTHING that is not fat, ie, colon contents, bone, nerves, organs, etc, etc. So you may not have lost much if any muscle in reality.
Make sure you are eating all your protein even if you have to split it up a bit to do that, just in case.
It is normal to lose a bit of lean mass. After all think of how much muscle it must take to carry around 50 or more (as an example) extra lbs all day without being able to ever set it down. It's the BF% versus the lean % that REALLY counts. You should be seeing a greater proportion of lean to fat in your ratio than when you started, ie. your BF% should be decreasing.
For instance in my case, my body fat went from 26% to 18.5% (caliper and tape by trained fitness staff) - correspondingly although I 'lost' what my second coach (who was new) termed some muscle (non-fat body components), I actually have a much healthier body composition now.
Some of the gals on here who have lost 80-100 lbs can hardly believe how much muscle it takes to carry that around all day. Once you have lost the weight, try putting on a backpack with the lost weight in it & carrying it all day. You will get a new appreciation of just how hardworking our bodies were and how much muscle we needed to do that job even though we were overfat at the same time.
You can begin rebuilding muscle bulk & strength part way into your fat loss if you choose to lift weights or work against resistance. It's good to get into an exercise habit even in Phase 1 although it needs to be scaled back a bit.
BTW the last 10 versus first 10 was just a simplification, lol. Although, if you lost 10 lbs the first week, you possibly could take 4 weeks to lose the last 10 and still be in expected weight loss range for IP.
Just keep plugging along and it will fall into place.
My weight back up 3 lbs today. I'm not going to weigh myself for a couple days.
it's just a blip kdl but I sympathize. Also, have you looked into Cushings / symptoms, etc...? Apparently irritation / depression are common side effects. Hope they get you on treatment quickly!
Liana - thanks for the detailed explanations on body fat vs. mass!
Ate 7.8 oz of cooked salmon (not weighed raw ) for dinner - oh it was so good!
Also I discovered Jenny O's turkey Italian sausage today. Sauteed with spinach and it was delightful.

Kdramalover - I'm not a Feb starter but saw your post and wanted to give a word to the wise. Sausage is not an IP friendly food. I was eating turkey sausage and couldn't figure out why I was having weeks with no loses. Turns out there was fructose corn syrup in those darn turkey sausages I was eating. Not sure about the brand you had. Just wanted to give you a heads up.
