 100
The scale was down exactly 100 pounds today. There were days and weeks where I thought the scale would never move again, but I stuck with it and 54 weeks after starting I'm down 100 pounds. I still have a long way to go, but am so happy with my progress I have no doubt I will stick with IP until I get to where I want to be.

Thanks for the encouragement everyone. We can all get to goal if we just stick with IP long enough.

When I started IP on Sep 12/14, I was hoping to lose approx. 10 lbs/month. Which would leave me with a 60 lb loss before our Caribbean cruise in March 2015. Today I'm only 23 days in and I'm down 18.3 lbs. Wow! I can't believe it. I'm still having such a hard time trying to get that 8 oz of meat in at dinner time. I know a few have said to eat a portion of that meat with lunch but at lunch it takes me a lot to get through the 2 cups of veggies..which I am doing regardless. My coach said as long as I can get at least 6 oz in at dinner I should be fine. So that is what I'm doing but even those 6 oz I feel like I'm cramming them in. Last night I had 2 cups of mushrooms (cooked in a pan with grapeseed oil) and eggs (4 whole, 2 whites.) OMG..I absolutely love eggs so was so surprised when I'd eaten only half of it and was stuffed. I set my plate down for a few minutes then picked it up again and ate the rest. So I got the whole protein portion in this time, but oh what a task. I'm sure I have never eaten that much egg in one sitting before. My question is though..how many times are you allowed to eat that many eggs in one week? My guess would be only once a week but I can't find the answer to this anywhere. I'm hoping at least one of you might know that answer, please and thank you.

Like you, DH and I struggle to eat 8oz of lean protein in one meal, as we have never had more than 6oz previously. Hubby supplements his by having some pre- cooked roast chicken breast as a mid meal snack, and I tend to use feta cheese crumbles (tbsp) in my lunchtime soup or a 1/2 oz slice of extra sharp cheddar mid afternoon (not technically allowed in P1, but I am still losing at a very decent rate 6 weeks in - I use the skim milk low fat variety). I also try to make breakfast more filling than the drinks alone, by making them into muffins/bread or pancakes/waffles and we use a whole egg instead of the two egg whites recommended. It can be expensive to buy a box of eggs and keep tossing out yolks. :) |
A good way of doing the egg thing, Briael, is to buy a little carton of egg whites and a dozen eggs, then you aren't wasting the yolks - and quite often the carton of whites goes on sale (at least here). They last for quite a long time too. That's how I did it in P1-3.

Eggs (and saturated fat in maintenance) are things we don't have to fear, as once thought. Another thing to keep close eye on, however, is Omega 6 fats from vegetable oils. These cause an inflammatory response in the body (as do too many processed grains). And the medical community has found a much more clear heart disease correlation with inflammatory markers than with cholesterol. RE: eating 8oz or even 6 oz meat. When I started IP, a dinner portion was 6-7 oz. If you need to split your dinner portion into two four oz portions, go ahead. Just know this doesn't cut back on the amount of packets you have daily. But there are certainly packets that are less filling than others. |
Very informative,thanks for sharing.

Thank you Briael, canadjineh and lisa32989 for all this information. I'm so glad I found this group. You're all always right on the ball with help when we need it. And I'm so glad that I can have as many eggs as I'd like. As it seems this is about the only thing I've been able to get the required amount of protein in at dinner time with. Thanx also for the tip on checking out Rainbow's Mixin' In The Kitchen thread. I'm definitely going to try her recipe on making my own mayo. And I've just ordered myself an early Christmas present..a Magic Bullet. Can't wait to start using it :)
