No worries. I actually got excited when I saw them at first! I was a little overwhelmed figuring out alts and since I had started ipon IP, I was a little hooked on some of the products. The only two items I prefer thru protidiet are the vanilla drink and the chicken noodle. The "juice" ones are convenient for on the go as they squeeze into a water bottle. Although IP is expensive, I don't need to think or analyze anything. I used to spend close to $12 a day buying breakfast and lunch during the week anyway.
That's the way I figure it too. I used to spend at least $3.00 just on the coffee (now I'm down to one), then sometimes I'd have a Tim Hortons breakfast sandwich. After I tasted the maple breakfast sandwich with sausage I was having that every day - so that was just over $5.00. Then, I rarely took my lunch so sometimes I was buying at the cafe or Wendy's or the thai food truck on the corner and spent up to $10 for that. Then a pop and/or snack in the afternoon for another up to $5. Then because I was tired or didn't feel like bothering with dinner (not surprising after my day of eating), I would snack or eat stuff like frozen pizza or soup or sandwiches. So I wasted a lot of food at home - veggies and fruit. Terrible waste.
Now I'm keeping my coffee at work down to one, bringing my lunch and a salad, no snacks in the afternoon, cut my diet coke down to one or none, and I'm eating the vegetables I buy.
Low carb grocery store will have them in September. I haven't really looked into beyond that. I would think that most places that carry quest would have them although I have had a hard time seeing a chip rack at gnc even though they are protein.
Hi, has this happened? Quest told me on the phone the other day that thwy won't be in Canada until 2015.

Just googled this, I'm taking a look myself. Hope they show what things are non-soy, or non-dairy or gluten free.

ETA: Not much for me I'm afraid... Just a couple of Vegetarian protein powders that are GF, and the shiritaki noodles that I get cheaper at my local grocery store. :/

ChipnDip...this is probably a very helpful analogy. Add in coffee from the coffee shops, or something from the vending machines and it's way higher...probably closer to $20 a day!!
By doing IP ....newbies can possibly start saving $8 a day for that new wardrobe!

That is what the store told me in an email, but I would go with the Quest response. I'm sure there are some FDA requirements to pass.
The store can be found online or you can go in, if you live close by. Free shipping over $100. I could drive there but I don't. They also have a few satellite stores but I wasn't impressed by the selection.
So gang, for those of you who live close to the border it's even more worthwhile to make the trip than I thought. Turns out that meal replacements (which these are classified as) are TAX FREE. I brought back $800 of alternatives and didn't pay any HST on it. They didn't even bat an eye at the products or vitamins, so bringing them back is not an issue.

That s very interesting! I thought the reason we didn't all order from Nashua was because of the duty, not just the shipping charges.

I don't think HST is the only thing in those charges (a quick Google search gave me "duties, taxes, handling fees and other customs charges "). And it's possible there isn't enough information on the package for them to know it's "meal replacement" and meant to be a 0% item.

When people ask me if the diet is expensive I always respond that it is but it isn't. I tell them $12 a day then mention what I'm not doing...like eating in restaurants often, buying lunch at work, buying wine, pop etc. And of course I always finish with "my health is worth the cost"
But...I still look for cheaper alternatives. LMFAO ( or maybe- laugh my not so fat *** off )
Hello to all Canadian gals! I am from the outskirts of Montreal and am thrilled to find such a fun group of fellow dieters. I am starting on sept 7, will be doing IP and alternatives also. I am on a tight budget, so for me, it's the best way to go.
I am looking forward to helping others and support also.We all need it right. I have a quirky sens of humour and have no problem laughing at myself.
So I do have 40 lbs to lose, starting at 195lbs. I am 53.
I will be back now and then to read up and stay tuned to what's happening of course. But my DAY will be SEPTEMBER 7, I am getting ready mentally and getting all my products rounded. Thank you for all the tips on the low carb foods. Hum, just like that, I thought maybe someone knows where to get low carb and high protein snacks, soups, bars in Montreal. Just maybe, I have looked on the web and did not find anythng. The closest is in Ontario.

Low carb grocery ships across Canada.quest bars are sold everywhere. Just start checking your local nutrition stores. Not sure if you have GNC or Popeye's.

Welcome, I am just back on the wagon too - we can do this!
With alternatives, I am spending $2.50-$4.50 a day. Can't even get a kiddie meal at McD for that! I always tell people who ask, you will likely be up money in the end, as you aren't buying junk food, eating out as often, etc.
