Hey there!

Just checking in, I'm on day 4 of IP, so I'm a newcomer to the program. I started at 247, got to 233 on my own and then started on IP this week. So excited to see a difference. So far so good. Stopping Diet Pepsi is probably my biggest hurdle, but my iced team seems to be filling the void so far. Now if I can just exert some self control around sweets in social gatherings I'll be great. I have 3 events this week that include cake....wish me luck! :)

I just avoid all nonessential gatherings, or if I do go I find something to put in my hands like ice water or if they have a veggie platter I grab some IP allowed veggies. I also picture myself having a fight with the cake and beating the crud out of it, glowering in dominance over it and laughing at it as it sits broken on its platter. One small victory for me, one giant victory for total weight loss. You can also con others you dislike into eating your portion... watch as they gain the weight you lose and then profit when they come to you looking for ways to lose weight.

:) Humor is important on this journey. When people come up to me at a gathering and give me advice and say stuff like, "just one slice won't kill you." or "I eat my carbs first thing in the morning." or "blended fruits mixed with spinach and a bagel in the morning keep me going all day long." I just look at them as they eat their cake and nod. Almost all the ones that are trying to give some advice to me usually also have about thirty pounds to lose and think they are healthy because they drink a V8.

What they don't get is that it's not the one slice that kills you. It's the totality of years of eating one slice at a time that ends up doing you in. No one dies of lung cancer by smoking two hundred cigarettes in a sitting... they stretch it out, cutting seconds that add up to minutes that add up to hours and days off their life.

Food can be much more insidious because while you don't really need a cigarette, you have to eat. So if you can control what you put into your pie whole you can control what goes on your stomach, butt, thighs, etc. Stick to the protocol.

I am starting over Doc. I stopped IP and gained weight back. I got comfortable at 315 and now about a year later I am back up to 389 as of yesterday. I went in for a coaching session and weigh in and to buy my food. And I know from experience that I need to check in here on 3fc to keep focused, that and work with my written journal.

But sometimes the drugs are nice too.

I tell my kids that cuddles are the worlds best medicine. But laughter and pain meds all have their place! Oh and testosterone too! =)

Make sure you drink enough water. Sometimes a salt lick helps. Shake som sea salt on the palm of your hand and lick it. This will help but not make it go away. The good news is it is working and will not last too long!
