Glad to see you guys have come back here during your reboot!

There is nothing like all the encouragement, and for me (also doing the new year reboot ;) ) there is a certain amount of gratitude to find that I am not the only person who worked hard to lose weight and somehow managed to regain.

Wishing you all the best for your reboot journeys - be sure to keep us tuned in on how you are doing!

Going to have to phase off for a while. I'm currently having an MS exacerbation and think it'd go better if I wasn't stressed about sticking on plan. I'm going to do 2 days Phase II and 3 days Phase III then kick it into Phase IV until I'm through this thing. Hopefully it'll be short and I can go back full bore. I only have 12lbs left to goal and don't want to be derailed too long.

2nd week of reboot done. Down total 13lbs. Halfway there.

Mandatory business meeting one evening last week - had 4 shots of rum, one shot of vodka and one shot of tequila over the duration of 5 hours - with water and sucra flavouring. Didn't kick me out of keto but paused it til some time the next day. Had to pace and feel things out as i drank because there were moments when i felt like i was flirting with hypo. glad i don't have anymore of those meetings anytime soon. ***edit - duh - i googled hypo symptoms and don't think that was it. i just had brief moments of lightheadedness that i never experienced before. came and went, no biggie.

cheers.

3 weeks of reboot in the can. Down total 15lbs. Weekly anomalies included: two phase 2 lunches, saturday night glass of red and two rum shots. I always believed the 3 week mark was where things became easy and automatic so i'm a very happy camper right now. I also switched to the Quest vanilla pancakes for breakfast. you get a huge stack per serving and it only works out to around 100 calories / 5g carbs / 25g protein. better numbers than IP pancakes.

cheers.

Congrats, Gila!!
Wish it was as quick & easy for gals, biology says we have a tougher time dropping it, lol.
Keep up the good work!

Hi !
I just started this IP diet a week ago.
I did it last Jan, but had to quit after 2 weeks due to work commute + job stress. It was tough to simulate it since then, without actually being on their special food.
So now, just lost ~ 16 lb the first week, and am very happy, feel much better, and am not too hungry.
I put some cheating tips on the Why not to Cheat board, is that what it's for ??
Good luck to everyone here !
I pray to all Gods and Bernie Sanders that I can stick to this plan long enough to get to 300 or less !
... If you get the Double Choc Brownies, LOCK them up !

Ummmm....lol... the thread The Real Cost of Cheating on IP isn't actually to suggest how to cheat ;). It's to help people realize why they shouldn't. But as a guy with a fair bit of weight to lose, you are probably getting pretty low with your calories even with the bunless Baconator. Way lower than your previous standard diet. And it has worked for you so far. Try not to game the system as it works better if you follow the protocol, and since you are feeling pretty good and not hangry, if you can, stick with the program. Congrats on the 16!! You can do it!! We are in your corner! :boxing:

Thanks

THanks !
Oh, that board isn't for cheating ADVICE ? heh, I am evil.
Hope your diet plan is doing ok !

Just saw my doc today, and my A1C and cholesterol are nice and low... He likes this diet.

Yup, I just have to keep on it till I reach 250, come Donald Trump or high water...

Those 2 "cheating" ways to get hamburger or eggs and bacon, at fast food places aren't really cheating, they deliver 8 oz of TASTY low carb protein for the Ideal Protein eve meal!
I also like to get those inexp double packs of sliced ham at Costco, its low fat ham in two 24 oz bricks, so if you divide them by 3, you get a 8 oz dinners worth of protein ! Add mustard... tasty! 6 days for $9.

:devil::devil: LOVE those double choc brownies !!:devil::devil:

I tried typing this out on my tablet last night at work, but then it dumped it all - don't know what's up with that.
Anyhow, I agree the bunless burger & egg/bacon choices at ff joints is a decent compromise in maintenance where they can be used in your 3:1 fat grams to carb grams meal.... but not so much in P1-3, where one needs to be low fat as well as low carb. We want our bodies to use up the fat stored on it and not the fat supplied in our meals.
If by circumstances not of your own choosing you end up at a ff joint, it may be better to order a bunless grilled chicken breast (sandwich w/o mayo) and a side green salad with mustard/vinegar as the dressing or a bunless plain burger patty with the same salad and stay completely on plan. Pretty well all ff joints have side salads as a choice instead of the usual fries (at least in Canada) so this shouldn't be a problem. Although it's always nicer to go to a real restaurant, where you could have steak & veggies, or tortilla-less fajitas, or Asian stirfry veggies & meat, etc and still stay P1-3.
:no::jeno::burger::no:
I hope all you football fans have plans in place for the big game and snacks you can eat w/o wrecking your hard won 'losses.' Keep it up!!
:cheer3:

4 weeks of reboot done, 18lbs total. Feel like going for a few more weeks, maybe more. We'll see.

Cheers

GilaMonster 03-08-2016 03:54 PM

9 weeks done and 26lbs. Very hard getting past a wall for the last 3 or 4 weeks. i must be nearing the end of this reboot. one day of cravings a week and the odd slip up. to be honest, i've had a lot of alcohol here and there so i won't whine about duration and results.

but on the plus side - if you haven't made pancakes out of Quest Protein Salty Caramel powder then you're missing out on a real treat - thanks to whomever provided that recipe. Also - spicy julienne rutabaga in the bbq grill basket on steak night is pure heaven - but very difficult to julienne.

canadjineh 03-08-2016 05:36 PM

Good work GilaMonster!! Alcohol can screw with our best intentions as it lowers inhibitions, never mind what it might do to carb load (depending on type of drink). So kudos to you for still hanging in there.
I haven't tried Quest proteins but actually haven't looked for them. The flavour sounds interesting, though. I hate cooking with the packets anyhow and just did regular packet plus regular food. I was never interested in 'fake' versions of high carb foods before. Same thing about gluten free stuff for me (medically necessary in my case). I have never been interested in GF versions of prepared foods with gluten normally in them ie breads, cookies, muffins, etc.

Awesomeness!

Good to see you working the plan and posting here. This used to be a great thread with lots of activity. I'm just re starting myself.

Got off during Christmas '14 by choice as I wasn't about to miss all the Christmas festivities and then tried to restart in Jan '15 with no drive/motivation. Skip ahead to Jan '16 and I had gained back 20# of my original loss. 12 weeks later I am down 30# and have just started into P3 this week. Getting back into running and have got two great runs in this week. This is my time!

canadjineh 04-07-2016 01:52 PM

YeeHaw! crashtested!! Good goin' to get back on plan! and a hello to any of the guys that might be lurking.

I have relatives in Creston, Kimberley, and Invermere... Nelson is a fine & funky town. If I weren't living in the North Okanagan, I'd be in the Kootenays :high:

Keep it up IP'er guys!

Liana
