GoodEats- You rock!!!!! They look like waffles, taste like waffles soooo much better than the pudding cakes and I always thought those were the best. Thank you, thank you for sharing!
Cassi- you can do it! Four more days and you'll be fitting in those jeans just right! I hate the big c factor of Phase 1 as well. I've been using CALM and it helps but... Things are not the same as when not on Phase 1

Hi, Maintainers! As of today, I am now one of you. I'm reading through some of the archives trying to pick up tips. I am very scared of my dinner meals and adding back carbs. I admire each of you for your continued success!

good morning maintainers

Just chiming in for the weekend and so glad to see all the usual suspects here and some new ones! Congratulations to all who enter

I'm coming on two weeks of ph.1.2 and just starting to turn a corner in how I feel. I am limiting myself to once a week on the scale. I notice an urge to jump on as soon as I feel a little looser in the jeans, but for me...when I see progress at this early a stage it can be a trigger to cheat and go the other way. So...my instincts told me to do another week until I weigh in.It will have much more positive impact on me and be more encouraging to keep at it.
Still feeling tight in the jeans legs and abdomen, so I know there's another shift around the corner.

What I'm grateful for so far....turning this around before it turned ME away from myself and everything I've worked so hard for!
Now that's what this program and you guys have done for me!
I am hosting a big wedding at my home next weekend, which will be my 2 free days and then 2 more weeks back in the saddle before I go off to coach voice for a kids rock n roll camp in Va. The food will be very fresh and mostly organic there with lots of salads, so I'm not too worried about how that will go, plus I'll be running around teaching and keeping up with 19 little buggers....that'll burn some calories for sure!

OK...next report after WI on Monday. Have a great weekend everyone

I read back on the thread and it looks like you're struggling with snacks; what to eat and what's satisfying, etc. After reading the Carb Sensitivity Program, there's a Carb Sensitivity shake recipe in there that almost seems so simple you wouldn't think it would be very good but to me it's quite tasty and very satisfying! I make it everyday sometimes twice a day (midmorning and afternoon snacks). Here's how I make it:

1 scoop whey protein vanilla flavored (I use Jay Robb Whey Protein)
1 tbsp chia seeds
1/4 tsp vanilla powder (sundried vanilla bean)
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup almond milk
1 tbsp almond butter

I put chia seeds in a glass with the water and almond milk; stir and let it sit for at least 15 minutes. A gel will form in the liquid to make the shake thicker.
If I'm at home, I put all the ingredients in a blender with 5 ice cubes. Blend until smooth and pour back into the glass and drink.
If I'm at work, I put all the ingredients in my IP shaker cup w/o ice cubes and shake and drink.

I no longer use my IP products for any snacks...except for my bedtime snack, I still make banana pudding waffles!

I was just coming to post about this shake. I got it from the CSP book too.
I use flaxseed instead of chia seeds, just because I didn't have chia seeds.

I have been reading a lot about Chia seeds and flaxseed lately and I think they are really onto something. I also put spinach in the shake.

In the book it is suggested to have two smaller shakes a day as snacks. I make one or two large ones and take them with me to work as all day I am on the run and am driving a lot. So I can have breakfast and lunch on the run.
I just got back from a week on the east coast. My 88 year old mother finally has had to accept that she has to go into assisted living but is very angry about it. She had heart issues and they would not release her to go home so she had to give in and go to a nursing home.

I was helping my siblings with her move and clearing out her condo so it was stressful and hectic.

I was staying at my sister's and made a big shake every morning. I tried to watch very carefully what I ate the rest of the day but had some fruit and even some chocolate and ate out most evenings.

I have been going up and down between 130-132 since the end of Feb. I have been stuck in size 10 pants no matter what I do because of my belly but kept going down on the waist so had a big gap with my pants around my waist.

I went to try on new pants while away, I tried size 8. They were so baggy in the butt I tought what the heck I will try size 6. They fit perfectly!

I always gain a few pounds while traveling so went to weigh myself with great trepidation this morning expecting to be up to 135. I had to get on the scale several times to believe it. I am 128!
This shake is amazing!
I will be back to read more posts, hubby is calling me to go. But I am so excited about this I had to post before I left.

Welcome MaggieD!!!! A huge congrats on reaching maintenance!
It is pretty terrifying to start adding carbs back in... Best thing is to do it slowly and one at a time... See how you feel digestive wise after eating them and what reflects back on the scale the next day/ day after. Many find it easier not to have the carb every night and instead opt for every second. Depends totally on your sensitivities... Definitely a guess & test at this point but you'll figure it- it's just that it is a little scary while you're figuring
Sunnymae- sounds like we're on the same regimen! It does feel great to have the clothes be getting looser but like you I definitely still want a bit more wiggle room. I'm staying off the scale as well except for once a week WI. Like you it's too easy to get comfortable and decide I can end Phase 1...
We have a dinner party on the 23 rd and I'd really like to be able to have a couple glasses of wine... Have to see how this Phase 1/ mini phase off tour goes first though... Here's hoping!
Had a horrible experience trying to make IP creeps this morning definitely too much liquid... So used my butterscotch pudding for waffles. They were very good but not as good as the banana...

We were posting at the same time Patns. CONGRATS!!!!!! That is awesome news- so happy for you that you kept your weight so stable while traveling for a stressful reason! Not only that you lost a bit!
That shake is pretty amazing. Tasty, filling and oh so good for you!
Congrats again!

Thanks for the warm welcome, sunnymae and capricious! I'm thrilled to be here. I know I will be turning to you all on this thread a lot over the next few weeks, er, months, etc as I figure maintenance out.

Here's a question for you: how critical is it that we still have a snack each day? I recently got braces on my teeth and have to waterpik and brush them after every time I eat. It doesn't sound like much, but believe me, with braces on, the brushing and flossing routine can take up to 20 minutes easy! So I only want to have 3 meals a day, no snacks. My coach says she wants me to have the snack at night and it should still be an IP product. Well, that just sounds like sales pitch to me. Any guidance from you expert and successful maintainers? TIA

patns, I emphasize with you regarding your situation with your mother. My DH and I have been dealing with the same thing with his mother. After her stroke, he had to take over everything. Since she lived on the other side of the country, we eventually had to move her here into assisted living as the constant flights out there were exhausting. It is very stressful emotionally for sure. Congrats on the excellent job of staying focused and OP during a time when giving in to "comfort foods" is so easy. I wish the best for you and your mother.

Yayyyyyyyy, patns. Size 6. I know the pant thing has been the most frustrating for you in this journey. I am so excited for you. So excited. It feels good to wear clothes that fit and flatter.

It is hard to encourage an independent grown up who has gotten used to their ways to trade that in. My father's lifestyle choices make us very uncomfortable but someone is with him now but it is not always feasible. He has a good life that works for him. Just that with ailing health, it's not realistic.

I started doing shakes about a week ago. I have been playing around with some sample packets and I found some protein shakes I like. It's my comfort zone as it use to be my breakfast staple before. I now use them in the afternoon. Great pick me up.

I seem to like cool creamy things. Like the puddings (which I have as back up) and morning greek yogurt and shakes. I am going to make GoodEats's shake and I also like your suggestions. Good way to get some extra veggies in. I have been blowing them off during the day recently.

Hi MaggieD. My personal suggestion would be to avoid the bars if you don't feel you want them or need them. P4 is much less structured and some of us have found that we overdo the bars.

If you want to have a snack, you can have something else. I don't know if they want you to keep using the IP product so you don't use something else like a real dessert or something. I think it was easier to use the IP product because it did not require any thinking or planning. But, there are other options. I am sure folks will be along to share.

Hi everyone, just wanted some advice. I'm 10 pounds away from my goal weight and my coach suggested that I might be able to move to Phase 2 next WI. Did everyone wait till they reached their goal weight before moving to phase 2 or move when they were 90% to their goal? Just wondering which would be better. Just wanted to say that all of you are doing so amazing and I can't wait to become part of this group!!! Have a great weekend everyone.

Maggie- sorry to hear that eating is such a hassle for you right now. It sure does sound like a lot of rigamarole...
It's best for your body blood sugar/ hormone wise to be eating at least 4 times per day (within one hour of waking and about every 3 after that) preferably eating supper as your last meal. If you can have 3 hours between your last meal and bed that will also help...
You don't have to use an IP Product as your snack. However they are quite convenient and tasty. If you feel comfortable trading in the IP snack for whole foods such as nuts/ fruit/ yogurt these are a much better option. When first transitioning from Phase 3 to 4 it can be helpful to keep things simple. You already have a lot on your plate trying to adjust nutrients for breakfast/ lunch/ supper and trying to figure in snacks as well may be too much change all at once. It may have been subconscious for me but for my first months on maintenance that daily IP snack was a daily affirmation of the diet. Just helped to remind me of whence I came and where I did not want to go back... But that was me... And for everyone it's different...
Ikp888- I stayed on Phase 1 until I hit 3 pounds below goal. I stalled my first week of Phase 2. The brand new Phase 1 sheet I was given last week states that we stay on Phase 1 til we reach goal. And I have to agree. It's the quickest, more convenient and tastier way there. It's exciting to hit a new Phase but in my experience it's better to stick it out with Phase 1...

Wow, I didn't recognize you! I thought, oh there's someone else from Vermilion on here now. You have done so well.
I would stick with phase 1 until you get to goal too. Everyone seems to have individual reactions to the different phases and I think it is much easier if you don't have to worry about needing to continue losing.

Pat

Thanks for all the cheers on my new size pants!
I still have more belly than I want but a lot less than I have. I'm not sure if that is because of the shake and the flaxseed or because of Dana's suggestion about collegan. I'm going to have to order more of that to be on the safe side though.
