Looks there is more than me on here having trouble staying on program. I've been trying to figure out lately just why I can't stay focused. One thought that I am toying with is that I know in the back of my head, that I can lose this weight rather quickly like I did the first time around when I decide to stay on plan. That's a terrible excuse. I've got to decide that I WANT it bad enough that I just do it. No more waiting for tomorrow. Does that make sense?
What I think started me back on the road to gaining weight is that I got comfortable where I was at, even though I never got to my goal which was then 145.

It really hit me today when I decided to try on a pair of dress pants I haven't worn for several months. I have a funeral to go to Saturday and they don't fit. I refuse to buy a bigger pair. I remember how good it felt to wear those 10's and by gosh I'm gonna get back into them. As I was trying to squeeze my fanny into them, I remembered how good it felt when I bought them and was able to wear them. Enough excuses for me! Plus I gave all my bigger clothes away as I lost weight and remembered how good that felt to throw the big sizes in a pile and get rid of them.

Today when I went to my clinic, they had an IP tea that I bought. I failed to ask how much it was. When I got home I looked at my receipt. Almost had heart failure. $14.00 for 20 tea bags. I better enjoy it! Oh, and by the way....I won't be naked at the funeral.....I still have a dress that fits. Thank goodness!
Hi. Glad I found this thread. You are not the only one. I thought I was the only one. I got totally derailed on vacation with dh and both twenty something dear sons. Gained about 7 lbs cuz I kept eating bad things once I got home.I have lost 2 and 1/2 of that. Maintenance is a very tricky thing. I think I have to go back op 100% to kind of detox I think. I've been trying to do that for 3 days or more. The only way I was able to do that was to totally clear the house and give up socializing where food is involved which is basically everything. Not as hard as for some of you since I'm an empty nester but ds does spend the night once or twice a week because we are closer to his work and I keep a couple of things for him. My problem is I am eating things that I was never tempted by before - I won't go into detail because of IP posting policy. DH has been very supportive but I have started eating the stuff he puts on his morning toast with a spoon! I can't ask him to give up that....can I? NO!! I have to "put on my big girl pants" for that one. And I know I need to have someone kick me in the butt - BUT I'm not in the mood for that. Hmm, just weighed myself, down a half lb but I DON'T DESERVE IT. It will come back on a day when I think I do deserve it. I am in a bit better mood though...Let me just offer this to my sisters who are struggling with staying on plan. I know this is a "no cheating" diet, and I know I will probably get yelled at but being almost on plan is BETTER THAN THROWING IN THE TOWEL and being completely off plan. I will deny writing that because we all know how nicely the weight comes off when we are on plan. I don't like the way I look in the smaller size jeans the young sales clerks talked me into buying. I offer this - struggling sisters, you can do this, we can do this. I told myself I would never let myself get above a certain weight and I haven't but I got close enough that I really scared myself. Lets do what it takes.

Linden, back with some cron-meter questions. When I try to "create" a food it won't let me go past the first box where you put the calories in. It won't let me go to the next section to but carbs in and so on.
Also is there anyway to change it to imperial measure? we went metric in Canada in 1975. We use metric all the time for distance and temperature. All of our foods are measured in metric but because we use so many American products most of the stuff we use around the house like cooking or carpentry most of use still use imperial measures.
It likey won't switch to Imperial and I can do it in metric but would be easier to eyeball things if I could use imperial.
Not sure if I told you before, I set it up by going to "custom" and putting in the amounts of protein/carbs/fats I wanted to and that worked fine.
Thanks,
Pat

This will look so rude but I'm going to try to answer and do it intralinearly.(

THAT SHOULD LET YOU ADD DATA. THEN SAVE CHANGES AT THE TOP!

I'M GOING TO TRY TO ANSWER BUT I DON'T USE IMPERIAL EXCEPT FOR GASOLINE AND I'M NOT GOOD AT IT BECAUSE I DON'T DO IT A LOT. It does give fluid grams, grams converted to ounces, and litres for things like water, though.

I PRETTY MUCH MEASURE EVERYTHING IN GRAMS AND SINCE I DON'T USE MUCH PACKAGED FOOD THAT ISN'T A BIG PROBLEM BECAUSE THE TRACKER ALMOST ALWAYS ALLOWS YOU TO ENTER FOOD BY GRAMS. IF IT JUST OFFERS 1/2 C, FOR INSTANCE, IT WILL TELL YOU HOW MANY GRAMS ARE IN A 1/2 C, BUT USUALLY WITH VEGETABLES, ETC., YOU CAN ENTER BOTH GRAMS AND CUPS AND IF YOU'RE HEADED TOWARD A SPECIFIC AMOUNT, LIKE 2 CUPS, YOU CAN ENTER 4 X 1/2 C THEN GEAR WHAT YOU MEASURE TO THE AMOUNT OF GRAMS IT CALLS FOR. THIS IS REALLY USEFUL.

WHERE I COME A CROPPER IS THINGS LIKE MUSTARD. THEN SOMETIMES I GO BACK TO THE BASIC USDA NUTRITIONAL DATA INFORMATION AND IT SOMETIMES INCLUDES INFORMATION ABOUT SPECIFIC BRANDS. AT LEAST YOU CAN GET A LOT MORE INFO THAN IS ON A LABLE, EVEN IF IT'S JUST BALLPARK. I FIND THIS HELPFUL. I HOPE YOU FIND MY EXPLANATION CLEAR.

It likey won't switch to Imperial and I can do it in metric but would be easier to eyeball things if I could use imperial.
Not sure if I told you before, I set it up by going to "custom" and putting in the amounts of protein/carbs/fats I wanted to and that worked fine. AND CRUMBS, WHY CAN'T I FIGURE THAT OUT? WHAT CATEGORY DO YOU PICK UNDER WEIGHT GOAL??? YOU'RE IN PROFILE WHILE YOU'RE DOING THIS, RIGHT?

AND IF YOU SKYPE WE COULD PROBABLY WORK OUT A SAMPLE TOGETHER, IF THAT WOULD MAKE THIS EASIER?
Thanks,
Pat

It is such a challenge for some to stay on program. I am one of them. Especially the second time around. Or as in my case, the third or fourth...

I had sworn to myself that I was going to keep my weight in check when I went off program a year ago. Ha. That didn't last long for me. Up 20 pounds in less than a year. I had planned on at 5 lbs to get right back on program.

I'm starting to finally get back full swing but man is it tough for me. I really need to stay off the scale except for when I am at the clinic. If the scale is down I seem to reward myself with food. If it's up, I feel like throwing in the towel.

You are right, we can do this together! Take care.

hi ladies,

I'm feeling really hungry today... I'm sure it's because I didn't eat very much yesterday due to getting my wisdom teeth out. It's also my TOM so I'm sure that has something to do with it too.

I was down another pound this morning which made me happy but tomorrow is my official 2nd week weigh in.

I'm not in much pain today but I just feel off and really tired. Hoping to have a nap this afternoon.

I remember having all 4 wisdom teeth out at once and was sick as a dog so I think you're doing REALLY well, Sara. THis is just a suggestion to maybe make things a little easier for the next few days. Would you consider doing boot camp with 4 or 5 packets*, so you get 100 g of protein, make vegetables into mushy or some other edible soup, and forgo the lettuce and meat or fish? It's doable and legitimate. And I sure hope things continue on as well as they are. * I can't remember exact protein in Protidiet but I kind of remember it being around 15/packet. If so, I'd definitely use 5 shakes or other packets.

IowaMom, I still think you're a little to hard on yourself. And I hope the coming weigh-in is good.

Wow Sara you are doing well after your teeth extractions. I remember getting mine out many years ago and was down for at least a week after. My daughter didn't have any wisdom teeth at all. She says that shows she has evolved to a higher life form. I could have pointed out that it may have meant she wasn't too smart.
Were you able to have that done where you live? My son had a severe problem with his when he was working in Yellowknife, that involved a costly flight to Edmonton to get them out.

OK Linden ; still messing a bit with the cron-o-meter. I like how it shows all the nutrients. Without even putting in the supplements it shows I'm getting a lot of nutrients in with the veggies. I don't skimp on the veggies at all, I figure if this is the basis of how I will need to eat all my life I need to really get in the habit of thinking of veggies first.
But I was not as clever as I thought with the protein/carb/fat part. I had gone to "custom" and selected the low carb one. Then I put in the number of grams of each I wanted and merrily went on my way entering foods. But when I went back to check when you asked it had actually not registered what I put in but reverted to its own ratio which is 5/1/5. So I guess that is all you can do.
I will play with it some more with my food measurements but have to get back to writing reports, I was really using getting it set up as a diverson.Once I get it populated with my foods it will be a lot easier but that part takes time.

Thanks, Iowa. Can you strip all tempting foods out of your house? That is very helpful for me. I assume by your name that you have kids at home so that can be more difficult. If your kids are teenagers, mine were in their twenties but home on breaks and stuff. I just sat them down and said, " I can't have junk food around. They were great about it. They would check with what was okay. DH said that could keep certain snacks in their rooms, chips and cookies etc. Though one night my ds's Honey Nut Cheerios were calling me. Barely left him enough for breakfast! We are now entering my temptation time, I think I go eat a salad. Good luck.

Hi all. I'm dropping in here because I can relate to the struggle to get back into p1. I've been struggling to have more than 1 "clean" day per week for a month now. I'm still trying and I really want to lose 20-25 more lbs this spring, so I will be around the boards.

Getting my dh on ip is the thing that helped me.

I tried a few times late last year to restart, but always gave in to temptation.

Dh started with me and I am now on day 20. I occasionally have an extra egg or two, but am otherwise op.

For some reason the weight loss is very slow this time. If dh wasn't doing this with me, and I didn't feel like staying on op was for him, I know I would be cheating out of frustration! How can I eat less than 1000 calories, exercise exert day and not lose?

Sigh. I keep telling him to stay off the sale and I need to lessen to my own advice! I know I look better, and hopefully the pounds will follow.

Hi all -

Good job Sara! Hope everyone is doing well. I've lost a little more. I have 2 lbs. more to go to lose what I gained from vacation, etc. I have been tired the past couple of days. I had been exercising but not yesterday and today. Maybe when you go back on plan you get tired again.

I just threw out a bag of Nesle choc chips, so I don't get in them. I have to get back on track and man it is hard. I can do this, I can do this!
