Just a quick flyby. Cold has turned into a sore throat and not feeling quite up to par. Eating has not been as wonderful as I wanted although I have stayed within the 8 hr eating window. Today was WI and I was down from the weight I gained from the Nyquil I took. I was excited until I got ready to change my ticker and realized I ended up with a gain of 4 lbs from last week. I guess I gained more from that and salt than I thought so I have to be happy that some of it came back off. Today I haven't felt like cooking so just grabbing whatever. 2 of our grandchildren have birthdays today and very carby celebration planned so will just try to be careful and stay within 8 hr window. Tomorrow regardless of what is happening I will be back to my 5 hr window.

Hope everyone is having a great day and has a great evening.

Woohoo prettylady for onederland.

Patty - take care of yourself!

Well going to try to stretch my window, hopefully it works out well. I hate to have a full stomach for acupunture because I am laying face down the whole time and he is doing a lot of lower back work and sometimes that seems to cause GI pain. But I have never gone this long and I am pretty hungry already. I have had acupuncture cause the shakes on its own.

Congratulations Prettylady!! :cheer2::cheer2:

Feel better Trish.

Tough work day...I started my window at 11:00 with a healthy snack, had my usual loaded salad at 12:30 and planned to eat a whole bunch of strawberries around 2:30. Just my luck...a 1:00 meeting got moved to 2:30 and it lasted until 4:00, then had two urgent walk-in patients and that put the clock at 4:40. I am really reluctant to let my window start slipping past 5 hrs, so I didn't eat my strawberries. :( I guess I have something yummy to look forward to tomorrow :^:

Hope everyone else had a great day!

Awesome job, Prettylady! Keep it up!

Headed to the gym today. I don't think I've lost any weight but I'm feeling fantastic! My asthma hasn't been bugging me nearly as much as it usually does around this time of year. It's wonderful! :)

I'm hoping the weather gets nicer and stays that way. I'm lucky enough to live right next to the 'Trail of the Coeur D'Alenes'. It's an absolutely gorgeous ride, from what I've been told, and I would love to be able to ride it by the end of summer. I think I've found my other mini-goal!

Hi everyone!!!

Congratulations Prettylady411!!!

kelleyb 04-19-2012 02:54 AM

congrats Prettylady on your hard work! Reward yourself with a good long walk...

Ennay- well get on that treadmill- no excuses! Ha ha.

Italiannie... like you told me, add more lean protein. It will most likely help your cravings and help to get back on track.

I have been looking into the carb addicts way of eating with low carb 2 meals and more carbs with the one evening meal. I have decided not to worry too much about carbs if I stick to a good window, but if I am too hungry to stick to a shorter window then I would like to go a little lower carb for some of those meals. Just another way to hopefully burn more fat and keep calories down. That would probably mean lower carb in the evenings for me due to some daytime work outs and needing carbs around that time.

I had a big party situation with work on Tue, but it still feels like a good week with fast 5. Tue did involve cake, wine and heavy restaurant food, etc. I started my first night back on the night shift on Monday. It went well eating wise. I am off until next Fri, so fast 5 should be easier to follow.

Surfergirl- I really believe that this way of eating is wonderful for dental health! Our teeth are not meant to have something on them almost constantly. Even when eating during a window, I do think about how much I drink (tea, coffee and diet soda) and try to stick to mostly water. I do not just sip on the others throughout.

Have a great rest of the week!

Good luck with all of the birthdays, Patty. Hope you feel much better soon.

This is an awesome group!

Mizzthingaling- I've been wondering where you have been. I know when it doesn't "look" like I'm around, I am reading and keeping up that way.

Rosey85 04-19-2012 04:50 AM

@Pretty lady Massive congratulations!!

This week I have done a 24 hour and the rest 19-20 hours, but I don't think I've been eating enough in my window. I've been doing this for the last 10 days and breaking my fast with fruit at 3pm then going to the gym, then eating dinner at 8ish. So really only one meal a day...and that was healthy, normally chicken or fish either baked or cooked in a sauce with vegetables or salad and then a low fat yoghurt.
I felt fine until yesterday when I was such a zombie, I was unbelievably tired and drained. I couldn't focus in work I was just in a fog. It was an effort even walking around the office. So I cancelled my gym class and went home and ate 4 pieces of brown toast aswell as my tea.

I haven't intentionally been cutting carbs but thinking back I haven't really eaten them with my main meal in the evening. Anyway today I feel absolutely amazing!! Got up at 5.45 to go to circuits before work and now feel full of beans! I think with the amount of exercise I do, I need to make sure I get enough calories and enough carbs in my window.
My body definitely let me know though, I can't believe how amazing I feel today compared to yesterday! Lesson learnt!

Italiannie 04-19-2012 06:21 AM

Prettylady - Congratulations - You go girl!!!!

Rosey 85 - The beauty of IF, is that we listen to our bodies and make our own decisions and adjustments. Great to have that flexibility.

Pattygirl - Hope you feel better.

Kellyb - Adding lean protein - That's exactly what I did, thanks for the reminder!

My issue with carbs is not that I think they're so bad, it's that I have a real addiction to them and it is soooo difficult to stop once I get rolling. They also make me feel kind of yucky once I go overboard on them. I'm definitely better off when I lean away from them.

I'm off for my walk.

Have a great IF day, everyone!

The extended fast/acupuncture on a long run day may have been a bad idea. Not sure. After the appointment I still didnt feel hungry but was very dizzy/light headed. On the other-hand whatever he did yesterday was so effective that for the next 4 hours I had that kind of deep relaxed boneless can barely lift my arms they are so relaxed feeling. Like I had taken massive amounts of muscle relaxant but without the drowsiness. So its possible the light headedness would have happened anyway.

Fortunately my appointments next week are earlier in the day.

sapphiregirl 04-19-2012 01:31 PM

Weighed in today and my weight finally went down to 175. I've been dealing with a crazy plateau since the end of February.

wvuchick 04-19-2012 01:42 PM

Hey all! Just wanted to check in quickly.

Trish - hope you start feeling better soon!

Kellyb - we have a lot of trails in my state like the one you are talking about. But none within an hour of where I live. Sounds like a lot of fun though.

Rosey - how many calories are you getting a day on average? I generally do about 1500 on my non-fast days. I know everyone is different, just curious to see what others are doing.

Italiannie - hope you had a great walk.

Today is a fasting day for me, I'm on my 17th hour and I haven't had a single hunger pang yet, which feels great! :D

Hope everyone is having a great day.

Rosey85 04-19-2012 01:56 PM

@sapphiregirl Nice one! It's a great feeling busting through a plateau!

@wvuchick Hope your fast goes well! Usually I average about 1200 a day (provided I don't get my hands on any chocolate ) but I was eating one meal a day which was probably around 600 calories a day for over a week, I usually do eat more than this but I have been busy and not hungry. With the exercise every day no wonder I got wiped out! I did a 21 hour fast today and though I have had some hunger pangs during the day, since I've been at home I haven't been hungry at all and I only ate my tea because I knew I had to eat.
Tomorrow I will break the fast at 18 hours and eat a sandwich and some fruit before the gym. On the plus side, hoping for a loss on Saturday when I weigh!

Have a lovely evening everyone :)

kelleyb 04-19-2012 03:16 PM

Have been doing great this week. I broke my fast w/ 2 fruits and then a full sushi meal 1½ hr later- window opened at 4pm and closed again at 6pm today. I am not planning anything else today b/c I will have a shorter window tomorrow with a heavy workout at 12 pm.

Tip of the day... Plain soda water (or flavored but no sweetner) is great when fasting. The carbonation feel wonderful on my empty stomach and it feels like I'm "getting something," but no calories. We have a soda machine at home, so I will def be using more of it.

Have a great evening.
