Woohoo, it is after 1. Of course I have avoided eating by mostly vegging on the computer. NOT productive!

I can make it 45 more minutes now.

pattygirl63 04-09-2012 08:43 PM

Well, I did end up with the 5 hr window today that I was going for. I made a huge salad and divided it in half... half for lunch and the other half later. So I'm really pleased with how things have gone today. So now having loads of water, water, water.

Hi All
Last week was a bit slow in the weight loss department. I think I might even have gained 200/300grams or so.

This week I have planned to do 4 day fast Tue to Friday.
I was just thinking.
Since I'll only have dinner for the next 4 days, will I be able to get the energy I need?

wvuchick 04-10-2012 09:46 AM

Well, today is my official weigh in day. I am down another 2 lbs from last weeks official weigh. Can't complain about that, and I think it would be more but slow digestion is plaguing me at the moment. ;) 3.7 lbs from my first mini goal! :D

sapphiregirl - welcome back, hope you get back on track.

pattygirl - Good job on your eating. Wish I liked salads, would make my life a lot easier!

canetoad - so are you basically planning on doing ESE for 4 days straight? or doing a fast 5 for those days?

Good luck to everyone fasting today.

banananutmuffin 04-10-2012 10:07 AM

wvuchick: Way to go on the loss!!!!

pattygirl: Sounds like your eating plan is on track. Awesome!

ennay: I often get through fasting times by wasting time on the computer... it's a great distraction!

Indulged in the pizza last night, so keeping it clean and lean today. My fasting window is short because I always have lunch at a buffet with my dad on Tuesdays, but I will stick with just a salad with oil/vinegar and a roast chicken leg. I'll keep dinner clean, too, and maybe even skip the wine tonight (*gasp*) so hopefully it will help undo some of yesterday's damage.

My birthday is a little more than a week away, and Hubby has been asking what I want for dinner. Since I've been so "good" and reached my "goal," I've been saying stuff like spaghetti or pizza or a huge-*** ham sub. But after my pizza indulgence last night, I told him that I just want sushi for my birthday. Just as tasty, much cleaner, and it'll make me feel better in the long run.

pattygirl63 04-10-2012 11:23 AM

Hi IF chickies,

banananutmuffin - Sounds like you have a great plan even for your birthday. I've learned the hard way by experimenting the benefits of clean healthy eating.

wvuchick - Congratulations on the weight loss.

ennay - I also find the computer as well as reading are great diversions when fasting.

canetoad - Good luck on the 24 hr fasts the next 4 days. I would love to be able to do that someday, but I've got to master the Fast - 5 first.

kelleyb - I agree that this is a big group and difficult to write everyone. I too have learned a lot by reading everyone's experiences and through different things that people share I have found to be very helpful as I'm learning to tweak IF into a lifestyle for myself. My doctor told me once that any diet would work... he said the key is to find the one that "you can live with". I have seen how some use IF with WW and some with Calorie or Carb counting etc. It has really helped me to see that IF will fit any lifestyle we can live with. For me I'm learning that I can do IF with a combo of WW/low carbing. I don't think I would have ever learned this without this group.

sapphiregirl - Welcome back and your off to a great start with your 24 hr fast. I hope to do one of those someday.

I've gone through the procedure of binges and learned there are no benefits for that even in a 5 hr window; at least not for me. In fact, I think it may be what makes my window extend to 8 hrs. Fasting blood sugar doesn't do well with those either. I shared recently that I had gotten a lot of sodium somewhere and my weight jumped way up to 230.5 lbs. I did the 5 hr window yesterday and lower carb although not extremely low. Drank water all evening and weighed this morning and the fluid is finally coming off as I was down 5 lbs. My official WI is tomorrow so hopefully it will stay off. I am planning to eat low carb again today and also do the 5 hr window again. Yesterday I wanted a steakburger. So I decided to take the other half of the salad I had saved for dinner and cut the steak into the salad and used the condiments as the dressing and no bread. I usually use Nature's Own double fiber bread, but just felt I needed to not eat it. It was just as good as a regular burger and it paid off.

Hope everyone has a great IF day.

Just have to share the great benefit of 1st day back to Fast-5. My fasting blood sugar was 109 which is the lowest its been in ages. So excited:carrot:and motivated to keep doing what I'm doing.

Things I have discovered about myself recently: Fasting makes me hyper. At first I thought it was just my usual caffeine buzz, but after over a month of experimenting with 24 hours fasts, I've gotta say that I think it's the actual fasting.

ennay, go you for making it through your fasting window! The mental hurdles are the hardest to conquer, I think, so that's a victory indeed.

canetoad, any reason you're doing four solid days of dinner only? That seems a little extreme. I don't think I'd have much energy if I did it, but we are all different, so the only way you'll know is to try it, I guess. Just be sure to listen to your body.

wvuchick, wtg on the 2 pound loss! That's pretty awesome in itself. I'll keep my fingers crossed that you get another whoosh shortly.

banananutmuffin, sushi is my favorite thing ever so I applaud your birthday plans! My favorite sushi place is near my parents' house, so when I visit them I make an exception and have sushi. It's worth the indulgence, even if it's not paleo-friendly.

Trish, that's great news about your blood sugar! Definitely an important victory.

I am fasting today, which is probably clear from my previous comments re: hyperness. I did some yoga before work this morning and spent my lunch hour on the elliptical, and I hope to see another loss on the scale tomorrow. I'm down to 194.6 as of this morning, so I made it past the 195 barrier. Now I just have to stay there.

wvuchick 04-11-2012 09:26 AM

thistoo - I am a lot more hyper and awake on my fasting days too. If I didn't have such a sucky job, I could probably put it to good use.

pattygirl - that's awesome about your blood sugar. Keep up the good work.

banananutmuffin - Good decision to pick a healthy birthday dinner that is just as tasty. Best of both worlds, right?

Hope everyone has a happy hump day! :D

Good Morning IF Chickies,

Today is WI and according to ticker, I lost 5 lbs this week. Of course, I also lost the 2 lbs fluid that I gained last week but only acknowledge the 5 lb loss. So I am very happy with the progress. I thought circumstances were going to turn my 5 hr window into a 6 hr, but I had made the big salad again and divided it so all I had to do was add the tuna to it and I was good to go. So I was so relieved to be able to stay within the 5 hr window.

I think I am going to continue the 5 hr window most days knowing there might be circumstances where it might go longer, but to never allow it to go longer than the 8 hr window. Where some of you use calorie counting with it, I will follow the WWP+. I believe doing it this way will be easier for me to make it a permanent lifestyle.

Y'all have a great IF day.

Hi All,

New to the boards since I just found this wonderful sight for support. Read about this link to fasting in a different board and was interested in what it is about. For the past month I have been doing Atkins along with some fasting days and it has worked for me so far. Working on being in control of what goes in my mouth - and those fasting times definitely help with that!

Welcome to the group. This is a great place for motivation and information. What type of fasting are you doing?

Me too! My job is pretty dull, as a general rule, so the extra energy doesn't do much good here. Mostly it just makes me annoying to my coworkers.

Woohoo, go you! That's great. And the fact that you're figuring out the fasting schedule that will work best for you is a major accomplishment as well.

Welcome, Prettylady411! This is a great place for support from people who understand IF.

I only managed 22 hours yesterday; I got really hungry toward the end of my work day and I decided to listen to my body and break my fast a little early. It worked out fine, though, because I was down to 193.4 this morning. That's better than I'd let myself hope for, so I'm pretty excited. TOM is on its way so my weight loss will slow down a bit, but I'm going to work really hard at staying OP as much as possible through the rest of the month. I really want to lose 10 pounds this month. I've never managed it before, but I feel pretty good about my chances this time.

Prettylady411 04-11-2012 02:04 PM

I do 24 hour fasting - I have never heard of Fast 5 before and am reading up on it. Although I have to say that I think I will do better with 24 hour fasting because I seem more in control of what I put in my mouth then - probably a mental thing. But once I eat continually for hours it seems I can't get back on track. If I am doing 24 hour fasting - then I seem more in control. I get one little meal and then decide what I am going to do for the next day.

Prettylady411 04-11-2012 03:11 PM

Thanks for the welcome. I am so excited to have found this forum and so many chats going on with information and stories shared to help out. I definitely needed this after winging it by myself for the past month. My modification is higher than it has been - seeing that I am not alone and that I can do this.
